Society Could Collapse In A Decade, Predicts Math Historian
Professor Peter Turchin says Donald Trump’s presidential election win confirms that “negative trends seem to be accelerating.”

The key to society’s armageddon will be “elite overproduction” in which the number of rich grow larger while the majority of society grapples with a stagnant standard of living and poor fiscal health, he believes. The upper echelons, too, will be ripped apart by bitter competition with a population of capable but angry “elite-wannabes” who will be shut out of power. That fissure will undermine the spirit of co-operation and cause society to fragment further, Turchin says.

Lance Bass Hosting Bachelor-Like Dating Show For Gay Men

We’ve found our next TV obsession, and it comes in the form of a dating show hosted by Lance Bass.

‘Finding Prince Charming’ will be a dating show for gay men along similiar lines to our current TV favourite, The Bachelor.

Set to be aired on gay-focused channel Logo, the reality show is being billed as the ‘first gay dating show with an all-gay cast’.

The show, which is currently in production, will see 13 male suitors competing to win the affections of one very eligible Prince Charming.

They will share a home as they are eliminated one-by-one, until ‘the heartthrob chooses one ideal man to sweep him off of his feet and commit to an exclusive relationship’.

Lance, who married Michael Turchin in 2014, will host the show.

Though Logo has seemingly not confirmed the identity of the bachelor, TMZ claims that it will be interior designer Robert Sepúlveda Jr.

In a statement, Pamela Post, Senior Vice President of Original Programming for Logo, said: “Logo has a long history of showcasing LGBTQ-focused stories with memorable characters that transcend pop culture.

“‘Finding Prince Charming’ will take viewers on a whirlwind journey through modern love and relationships in a way that only Logo can do.”

The show premieres this fall and we cannot wait!

Mathematicians Predict the Future With Data From the Past | WIRED

In Isaac Asimov’s classic science fiction saga Foundation, mathematics professor Hari Seldon predicts the future using what he calls psychohistory. Drawing on mathematical models that describe what happened in the past, he anticipates what will happen next, including the fall of the Galactic Empire.

That may seem like fanciful stuff. But Peter Turchin is turning himself into a real-life Hari Seldon — and he’s not alone.
