How to report bots that reblog your posts and inject their own links

You’re an artist having a wonderful day posting your art to Tumblr dot com. You don’t always get a ton of attention, but that’s okay. But then one day somebody reblogs one of your posts…

You’re super excited! Someone appreciates your hard work. Then you see the profile picture, and it’s something like this…

[Screenshot of a Tumblr notification that shows an icon that looks suspiciously like a white girl in a bikini showing off her butt, though it’s so small it’s hard to tell. “axpgthglewut reblogged your photo.”]

You’re suspicious at this point, but mildly optimistic. Maybe someone likes both T&A and your Steven Universe fan art. Then you go to their blog and…

[Screenshot of my drawing of Lapis Lazuli. My original description was replaced with the text “you want to fool around?” and a link that leads to God knows where.]

It’s happened. Again. For some bizarre reason a p/orn bot is using your completely safe for work art to get click throughs to something that’s definetly not safe for work.

You desperately want at least your attribution back, but since Tumblr is so horrifically set up you’re very sure there’s no way to do that.

Except you can!

Tumblr allows you to report copyright violations which includes removing your description and injecting their own link. But how to do this?

Step 1: Report them

Go to that human icon, click it to go to the drop down, and select “Report”.

Step 2: Select “Community Violation”

This behavior is explicitly against the Tumblr terms of service so that’s where it goes.

Step 3: Select “Misuse of your identity or work”

Step 4: Select “Misattribution or non-attribution”

Step 5: Select “yes”, this is your work that’s being misattributed.

Step 6: Select “yes”, you posted it to Tumblr.

Step 7: Select “Someone reblogged it and injected a link to their own blog.”

Step 8: Put in the link to your original post, the link to their reblog, and your email. Then submit!

You can get it the link to the reblog without going to their blog directly by going to the dash view of the blog, hovering over the top right corner, right clicking and selecting “copy link address.

While all of us here on this trash website enjoy picking on staff, in my experience they take care of this kind of thing relatively quickly (usually 2-3 days).

I hope this has helped at least some of you, and remember: only you can stop bot reblogs. [insert gif of Smokey the Bear here]

Reminder that users getting banned from websites for shit they did against the TOS is not the problem anti’s have most of the time, but the selective usage of TOS against the users by the website to them down for having opposing or conservative views. Selective use to the TOS is unacceptable, and if you’re going to shut someone down for breaking them, shut everyone down for breaking them.

This blog is primarily about my art, with a little of my politics.

Recently A GW staff member who disliked my politics and who had trolled my personal art posts with his disdain and was then blocked, decided the mature response was to collate my GW fan art into a single post to mock and deride it
as ‘The worst series of images on the entirety of this site’ (note the blog he posted this on, had images of him in his GW uniform)
I alerted his employers that he was being an asshat to company customer base. And its my understanding that they cautioned him.

After that he decided to go public and ‘DARVO’ about the issue painting himself as the poor victim who did nothing worse then dislike my art.
I decided that I needed to protect my rep, so I wrote a lengthy post (now below the cut)

If you are reading this, you have no reason to believe ‘my side, theirs or the middle’ The only thing I can do is ask you to consider which is more likely, that a complaint was made and the company took action, or that I have insider contacts and after 14 years as a professional artist, cant handle criticism.

I have no interest in pursing this further, and my blog remains as always about my art with a little of my politics.

I finally got around to updating my commission post in… how long?

Anyway , here’s the current overview of stuff I offer, and as always, if you have an idea for something that you’d like to see drawn but that doesn’t really fit these categories, let me know!! :D

I work with reference images, especially for faces, in the case of clothing and accessories (for which references can sometimes be a bit harder to find) written descriptions work too. Ideally you should have the reference images for your characters ready when you message me about the commission, by that longer waiting times can be avoided for the both of us ^^

What I will draw:

  • humanoids (humans (real and fictional), elves/dwarfs/aliens etc.)
  • certain animals
  • nudity & implied adult content
  • slight injuries, bruises, etc.

What I won’t draw:

  • full on nsfw content of people doing the do or similar things
  • topics like rape, gore, incest etc.
  • certain characters & pairings
  • basically anything that would make me very uncomfortable
  • things I have little to no experience with (like mechas, intricate machines, architectural drawings, etc.) or things that wouldn’t turn out looking at least somewhat decent with my current skill-level. I want you to be happy with the artwork especially because you pay me to draw it.

Payment is done through the Paypal invoice system and all prices are in Euro.

If you’re interested in getting a commission, please contact me via instant messenger on tumblr!

An overview of currently open slots, Terms of Service, and more detailed information on the commission categories, payment, and other ways to support my art can be found on my commission info page :D

Thanks for reading & sharing! ♥

just because you’re confused doesn’t mean it’s out to steal your fucking drawings oh my god

“granting them use” literally means that they can use it for log in screens, resize it for mobile blogging, and have the ability to store it at all. granting “derivative works” as they defined, means that other people can reblog it, otherwise there’s just a bunch of copies of your art out there on people’s blogs and you could sue with that loophole

christ people quit crying wolf, it’s fucking annoying and you’re scaring the kids who have a hard time understanding legal talk. quit making petitions to change something that DIDN’T EVEN HAPPEN oh my god

tumblr: *does pretty much nothing against all the p0rn bots/blogs*

me: *posts a vid of antoine griezmann with the hot dog snapchat filter*

tumblr: sorry sweaty 💁 it looks like you violated our terms of services because we don’t allow sexually explicit videos to be uploaded to tumblr 😡

You know, since crapatulus is currently hoarding his old url and is using HTML to force-redirect users to a third-party commercial domain with it, he can be reported to tumblr staff because it's against the site's Terms of Service. Pinkiepony had her entire account (as in, all blogs associated with the account) terminated for doing something similar. So he kinda gave everyone a prime opportunity to get his account terminated so he loses all of his precious little piss-fetish teenage followers.

well then.

If y'all don’t stop putting them damn APP COMMERCIAL posts on my dash, imma sue. It’s literally three random blogs saying “try the NEW APP OH EM GEE” under ‘related’ posts under the guise of sharing helpful information when it’s really just violating the Tumblr Terms of Service to try to sell y'all things. I’ve seen one post from that Kimmy Schmidt show with the app for language learning under it five times.

just bc the age of consent in japan is 13 doesn't mean it's suddenly ok to draw porn of underage characters. japan has a huge sex market revolving around school girls and that's most like why the age of consent is so low. also, it's against tumblr's terms of service to be drawing that kind of shit AND IT'S ILLEGAL TO BE PRODUCING AND DISTRIBUTING IT SO WHY ARE Y'ALL DEFENDING IT??? y'all are so dense smh all these clowns can go to hell frog

all of this? real

Hey, just thought you might wanna look into it; @redkatherinee has made another transphobic piece of art, this time it actually portrays literal guts and blood so be careful when checking if you do, if you're gonna use it on a callout post or something. It just keeps getting worse and after her drawing literally boiling trans people this is just unbelievable. I'm not trans but I can't imagine how unsafe this kind of art makes trans people feel, it's awful...

Yeah I made a post about her on my other blog. There’s a post going around on how to report her art. Despite thousands of people reporting her art for going against the Tumblr terms of service, it’s still up. Tumblr doesn’t give a shit about us lmao.

For anyone wondering, she drew a witch boiling trans people alive in a cauldron. The hands in the cauldron have wristbands of the trans flag, agender flag, and genderflux flag. The witch is reading from a book called “Human Biology.”

Everyone got upset with her and in response, she made a new drawing of the same witch wearing an apron that says “TERF” carrying a pie made out of humans. The pie screams “Die cis scum!” In the description redkatherinee made a poem about TERFs eating trans people.

She’s the same person that drew Junkrat with top surgery scars calling him a girl. And then under that she drew Junkrat without top surgery scars calling him a boy. Basically saying that trans men are girls. It was a response to people headcanoning Junkrat as trans.

She also draws a lot of WidowxTracer art, so watch out.

There’s a parody account @redkatherineee (with an extra e). They’re hilarious.

Tumblr’s terms of service is very cut and dry with what it allows with respect to minors

If you’re a minor and you’re being attacked, bullied, harassed, or whatever, especially by users (Since all you can really do is block anons), tumblr has a specific page to report that behavior.

Bullying minors is against tumblr’s terms of service. So is posting anything relating to minors that is sexually suggestive or violent. It’s very specific langauge: It doesn’t have to be explicitly depicting a minor, it has to be relating to minors. If it’s sexual or violent and relates to minors, it is against tumblr’s terms of service.

Tumblr is actually pretty good at responding to these complaints (Which might be surprising since tumblr staff and non-responsiveness go together like nothing else). I’ve reported issues in the past and seen the posts with the problem removed in under forty-eight hours

But really, if you’re a minor and there is someone who is bothering you, you can report them for doing that.

This is the specific language from Tumblr’s terms of service/community guidelines (As of 2016-06-23):

What Tumblr is not for:

Harm to Minors. Be thoughtful when posting anything involving a minor. Don’t post or solicit anything relating to minors that is sexually suggestive or violent. Don’t bully minors, even if you are one. Being a teenager is complicated enough without the anxiety, sadness, and isolation caused by bullying.

And this is where you can report that behavior: https://www.tumblr.com/abuse/minors

Use this resource. There are too many kids being targeted on this hellsite.

  • tumblr staff: *watches queer and trans kids get doxxed and harassed by terfs and anti sj*
  • tumblr staff: *watches kids of color get doxxed and harassed by white supremacists and neo nazis*
  • tumblr staff: *idly watches people's nudes get stolen and posted, including minors*
  • tumblr staff: yawn
  • tumblr staff: *sees information of KKK members put up*

Hey do you have any advice or tips for an anxious person who wants to help out and start an anti blog? You seem to know what you're doing and plus you're really cool.

First off…i’m not really all that cool. I’m just a nerd with a really strong sense of justice. However, I can share a bit of wisdom!!

When you make an anti blog, keep these things in mind: you are on a mission. There are actual child molesters and criminals on this site, and they don’t deserve accolades for their disgusting actions. Pick a character you’re either kin with or love a lot…or both.

Bookmark the Tumblr terms of service. This will save you A LOT OF TIME. It’s a common argument among kinksters that minors shouldn’t be here…but Tumblr is a 13+ website. Secondly, putting kink in unrelated tags is spamming, another violation of the TOS.

In the event pedophilia is discovered, and definitive evidence has been found, reporting to Tumblr won’t be enough. In that case, you can submit a tip to the FBI here

When you make your argument, make sure it’s well backed. An orgasm can be powerful in shifting one’s views and thoughts, and cgl is no exception. Kinksters get off on their partner when they are age regressed, and this presents a large red flag. Their brains associate child like behavior with sexual gratification, and this presents a real danger to ACTUAL CHILDREN. This is one of the main goals of the anti-dd/lg movement. Many antis have fallen victim to child sexual abuse, and many topics in dd/lg mimic that of real abuse. We’re wanting to stop the disheartening spread of simulated CSA.

Tag patrol

In a sense, tag patrol is the front line between antis and kinksters. Kinksters will put their stuff in safe for work tags, and antis serve to catch these. Warning: Even with safe search on, the type of content you may encounter may be very NSFW or triggering. If you feel you are not ready to do tag patrol, you can still reblog informational posts and other anti related content. There is no rush.

Littles may make their rebuttal, and they often reply back with nasty comments. You may correct them, but don’t expect them to listen. IN THE EVENT AN UNDERAGE LITTLE IS FOUND…be gentle. Many of them have been roped into cgl, unaware that regression can be accomplished without falling into the scam that is dd/lg. Let them know you are not there to attack, but simply to educate and make sure they’re safe.

Anon hate

If you enable anon, you will eventually receive hate. This is normal, and I strongly advise you to take their comments with a grain of salt the size of Texas. However, you can have fun by fucking with them. If you are afraid of receiving hurtful comments, anon can be disabled at any time.

Sometimes, communicating with kinksters and pedos is a lost cause. You are permitted to block them. There’s no shame in that. Trust me, it’s for the best most of the time.

And that’s about it!! Happy kinkshaming!!
