Toward the end of rehearsal today (after we had already done a good amount of work) one of my actors mentioned a headcanon she had about her character. I was like “it’s weird to hear such a tumblr word in real life” and then that led to 45 minutes of cast bonding about fandoms and tumblrs and fics. It was a little strange but actually pretty awesome.
To love is not to possess the other person or to consume all their attention and love. To love is to offer the other person joy and a balm for their suffering. This capacity is what we have to learn to cultivate.
