It has always been a curiosity and delight when elements of nature, like a snake winding along its path, leaves a trail of rippling and intersecting circles that speaks the precise language of Prime Numbers. Rather than being bizarre, such Naturalness is one of the many Laws of Mathematics that underpin and define the mystery of Nature and of our Lives.
Liberals turned the truth about a small number of donors exerting an enormous amount of influence over the political system via political contributions into a narrative of “everything’s the Koch Brothers fault,” because that quasi-conspiracy theory is a much simpler story to understand, and also there’s a degree of truth to it (Kochs are extremely influential and also straight evil). For all the many problems with that, it makes political sense- they just dumbed down a truth. The “everything is Soros’ fault” narrative taking hold among mainstream conservatives is one I have a much harder time accounting for, seeing as 1.) the Kochs are far wealthier and at least just as politically active as Soros and 2.) conservatives very vocally defend the role of money in corrupting politics. I attribute it mostly to anti-Semitic “cabal” conspiracies entering the mainstream right in secular terms, as part of a greater overall trend of far-right narratives being accepted by conservatives.
