truth is no where to be found

Psalms‬ ‭84:1-4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“How lovely is Your tabernacle,
O LORD of hosts!
My soul longs, yes, even faints
For the courts of the LORD;
My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
Even the sparrow has found a home,
And the swallow a nest for herself,
Where she may lay her young—
Even Your altars, O LORD of hosts,
My King and my God.
Blessed are those who dwell in Your house;
They will still be praising You.

Happy Birthday, neverknowwhattocallmyself!

March 26 - “Don’t turn your back on me” Farcy for @neverknowwhattocallmyself

Established relationship AU.  Darcy and Nick got together at some point between SHIELD spiriting her and Jane off to Tromso, and the events of CATWS. His first order to Hill when she revived him was to get Darcy to safety. Clint’s job during CATWS was Darcy-sitter; he of course took her to the farm with Laura, where she watches the whole disaster with horror… under the assumption that Nick is already dead. When he rocks up a few days later she is understandably rather less than impressed that he didn’t let her know the truth earlier.

“You have got to be fucking kidding me!”

“Ow, my ears,” Nick rolled to his side, attempted to shield his ears from Darcy’s shriek. He’d arrived at an ungodly hour, found the whole household asleep apart from Clint. Darcy was soundly asleep, so he just crawled into bed beside her and passed out into the first proper sleep he’d had in over a week. He wasn’t counting the time he’d spent technically dead.

“Don’t turn your back on me!” She thumped him in between the shoulder-blades. “God damn it, Nick, I thought you were dead!” Her voice cracked, and he rolled over, took one look at her face crumpling and groaned aloud.

“Please don’t cry, Darce. I’m sorry, I…”

“Did Clint know?”

“Yes, but I asked him not to tell you because there was an extremely high probability that I wouldn’t live long enough to get back here anyway.”

She really did start crying at that, snuggling into his arms and pressing her cheek against his chest. He winced as she managed to bump against the still-healing wound under the bandages he was keeping concealed beneath his clothes as long as possible.

“How do you feel about a trip?” he asked, when she at last settled down, just hugging on to him rather more tightly than was comfortable at the moment, not that he planned to complain. “A long trip. To Europe.”

“Sounds good. But if you think I’m letting you out of my sight again, you’ve got another think coming, Nicholas Fury.”

“Yes ma’am,” he agreed meekly, kissing the top of her head. “Anything you say.”

No romance between his sister and the reader has a slow burn relationship with him and she’s there when he’s going through the trunk with him?? Or anything intimate tbh!!

Forbidden | Spy | Truth - James Delaney

“I see you found the intruder.” Brace said, putting a glass of brandy down in front of James.

The reunion between you and James had not been the one you dreamed of when you were younger. You had spent years in the Magdalene Laundry learning how to control your anger and yet that all seemed to be null when you were standing in front of James. You had longed for him, every day you were separated you had yearned for the day you would be back in his arms. And when the chance presented itself all you did was slap him and scream at him.

“You fucking bastard!”

In what most would consider out of character James just stood there. He looked as though he’d seen a ghost looking at you. When you hit him he attempted to grab your arm, not to hurt you back but just to calm you. That had backfired as you pulled away from him and stumbled into the door.

Fictional History: The Sea’s Three Daughters

Oceanus, the divinity that the ancients long forgotten once regarded as the titan lord of the sea. His daughters were Oceanids; sea Nymphs blessed with reign over particular bodies of water.  The women that founded house Osanos regarded themselves as the new Oceanids (reluctantly or brazenly depending on what text you regard as truth.). And although they were not the children of Titans, they were still blessed with the ability of such.

Electra Osanos, deemed the first of her silver house, began life as a subject of the Lakelands during a period of time where it was rather dangerous to be a water wielding silver in those parts.

The king, having been driven to madness from constant attempts by those of his ability to usurp his throne- put out an order to detain and eventually execute any silver in possession of his god-like ability.Chaos ensued as a fraction of the kingdom’s population disappeared almost overnight. Women and children were the easiest to smuggle into the neighboring lands during this terrifying manhunt. Many found safe haven under of the Northern Democratic Alliance (an entity later to be re-branded into the kingdom of Norta).

Electra and her many silver sisters were instilled with the fear that  one day the alliance would revoke their words of protection, shipping them back to the feet of their former lord in exchange for some lucrative agreement. As the years lingered by, and the government which ruled so prominently grew more distrustful of the gifted beings that rested under their thumb, it became clear that what drove them from their homes as children would occur once more. Thus, when the day that Lucern Merandus proposed the unthinkable- the daughters of the sea were the first to swear their loyalty.  ASK AND THOU SHALL RECEIVE @black-calore-wolf

I think about love on a scale from 1 to 10. Most of us find a 6 or 7, and that’s why we have divorce. It’s the truth. We settle for that 6 or 7. But I like to think Kevin is Chiron’s 10. He’s found that and he realizes that there’s no reason to settle for a 6 or a 7 because, “I know this person is my 10. Whether or not this person believes I’m his 10, I’m going to devote my life to this person entirely.” That’s why the line where he says, “You’re the only man that’s ever touched me,” for me, was the most amazing, most beautiful thing I’ve seen in cinema, period. Because that’s what we strive for as people, to find that one person because they’re there. If Kevin doesn’t feel that they should be together, Chiron is just going to die a miserable person because that’s his person and he won’t settle for anything else. But I like to think they’re together, walking in Central Park hand-in-hand when they’re 90 years old. - Trevante Rhodes

y’all are not gonna believe me but today I was reading a book on historic queens and I found this royal Swedish  family where the king was bisexual and known to sleep with women and men before and after marriage, and then after his death his wife started sleeping with one of her handmaidens and they even ran away together, and of course their daughter was Queen Christina of Sweden who was nonbinary, routinely dressed like a man, seduced men and women alike —even having a gf she’d make out with in public not giving a single fuck— and from the get-go decided not to get married because she’d rather do cool shit like study, fence and go hunting

This quote was giving to me from my meditation teacher Betty Jones…

This is a good framing for where we find ourselves and how we should think about this time we are living in.

“Banish the word ‘struggle’ from your attitude and your vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration. We are the ones we have been waiting for.” — Hopi elders

I did a search on the quote and found it in the body of a longer quote made by a Hopi elder in 2011. This is the quote in its entirety. Keep the faith and protect yo heart.

“You have been telling people that this is the Eleventh Hour, now you
must go back and tell the people that this is the Hour. And there are
things to be considered… .
Where are you living?
What are you doing?
What are your relationships?
Are you in right relation?
Where is your water?
Know your garden.
It is time to speak your truth.
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for your leader.
Then he clasped his hands together, smiled, and said, "This could be a
good time! There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and
swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on
to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and will suffer
greatly. Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let
go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes
open, and our heads above the water.
And I say, see who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time in
history, we are to take nothing personally, least of all ourselves. For
the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey come to a halt.
The time of the one wolf is over. Gather yourselves!
Banish the word 'struggle’ from your attitude and your vocabulary. All
that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.
We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.
Hopi Elders Prophesy
To my fellow swimmers:
here is a river flowing now very fast.
It is so great and swift,
that there are those who will be afraid,
who will try to hold on to the shore,
they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly.
Know that the river has its destination.
The elders say we must let go of the shore,
push off into the middle of the river,
and keep our heads above water.
And I say see who is there with you and celebrate.
At this time in history we are to take nothing personally,
least of all ourselves, for the moment we do,
our spiritual growth and journey come to a halt.
The time of the lone wolf is over.
Gather yourselves.
Banish the word struggle from your attitude and vocabulary.
All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.
For we are the ones we have been waiting for.”

This quote was carried on the same page.

“I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do. What I can do,
I should do. And what I should do, by the grace of God, I will do.”
—Edward Everett Hale

we began to fail at the smaller things.
like the time we went ice skating and realized that the imbalances in our lives weren’t just metaphorical.
you weren’t happy.
and I had given up hope in trying to be your safe place.
so we argued a lot.
mostly about stupid things.
then the importance of the wars we fought against each other only grew more significant in time.
you started lying, unintentionally perhaps, because you didn’t want to hurt me so you never told me about the day you ran into your ex girlfriend and decided to run around the city.
it wouldn’t have meant anything if you had told me.
and you didn’t.
eventually i found out.
and in my attempt to feel less hurt, i fell in love with someone else.
and i am sorry for how long it took for me to say that.
i am sorry for the both of us and how much we failed to realize.
the truth is, we should have known.
because there came a time where you stopped calling and i wouldn’t hold your hand.
we overlooked these smaller things because even in the moments we were bad to each other, you wanted it to work as much as i did.
after all, it was you i shared dreams with.
we talked about marrying each other and never waking up beside other people.
eventually we did.
in time we ran out of dreams and the hope we harvested was left out in the rain for too long.
i am sorry that we weren’t kind to each other.
we should have been.
if i could go back in time, i would tell you this:
i may not love you anymore but there was a day where i did. thank you for trying as best as you could to love me in a way i was able to recognize. thank you for loving me in all my crookedness. thank you for being the one to share this with me.
—  @thewordsyouneverunderstood , things I would have said to you

“Scully, I was like you once. I didn’t know who to trust. Then I… I chose another path… another life, another fate, where I found my sister. The end of my world was unrecognizable and upside down. There was one thing that remained the same. You were my friend, and you told me the truth. Even when the world was falling apart, you were my constant. My touchstone.” “And you are mine.”

Summary: Coming home from war is hard. Even for Alex Summers.

Warnings: PTSD

He put on a tough guy exterior, but in reality, Alex Summers was one of the sweetest guys on the planet. Alex was fiercely devoted and protective of his loved ones. Over the years that you knew him, you figured out the (not so well hidden) truth.

Alex’s mutation had put him through a lot. When it developed, he found himself in solitary, happier to be away where he couldn’t hurt anyone. Then when he finally let himself grow close to people, they either died or turned against him.

Well, not all of them. Charles, Hank, and you never left him. After Cuba, he let himself get close again, and that time, it didn’t come back to haunt him. He fell in love with you. And eventually, with you holding his hand, he went back home.

Scott was barely four at that point, attaching right away to his older brother. Those were the days when you saw him the happiest. Reconciled with his parents and spending time with a little brother who was becoming more devoted every single day.

Though you could never fully convince Hank that it was true, Alex was a huge romantic. He would sneak up behind you while you were reading or watching TV or something and kiss you. He would cook you dinner when you had a rough day.

The Gavinners feat. Herr Forehead

Did you know there was an official version of Guilty Love with lyrics? This was performed in a special event on 2012. It is supposedly sung by Klavier with a little help of Apollo. The lyrics were written by Shu Takumi btw!

Here’s the translation and romanization (sorry if I made a mistake! This took me a little~)

English translation:

I found you in a stunning dress, I held you
You put down your glass and looked me in the eyes
“Where should we go now? JUST YOU AND ME”
But I can’t… I’m on my way to court

Turn the wheel left at the corner and there it is.
Your honor!
SO! Let’s get drunk on the thrill that’s about to start
Courthouse show!
I was going to have a SALTY DOG with you
But now I’m thristy for a glass of GUILTY DOG
Where’s the truth? To find your answer…
Go ask the wind!

This evening, I held a guitar in one hand
And took your hand with mine
Now I’ll sing you a love ballad JUST SONG FOR YOU
But I can’t… I’m on my way to a crime scene

Go down the stairs to the dance floor, and there’s…
A crime scene investigation!
SO! The Evidence, testimony, and dead body
Look like they’ll start dancing!
Gazing up at the MILKY WAY with you
I’m praying for a GUILTY BREAK!
What is the truth? To find your answer…
Go ask the wind!

In the depths of darkness (LOVE LOVE GUILTY)
Reveal the truth behind the crime (LOVE LOVE GUILTY)
The journey to the next world is so far (LOVE LOVE GUILTY)
And the shadow is wandering (LOVE LOVE GUILTY)
I’ll search for the light, for the sake of your future

Even those tears look beautiful on you
The day we part will come eventually
Let’s do it over if we can JUST YOU AND ME
But I can’t… I’m on my way to court

Turn the wheel left at the corner and there it is.
Your honor!
SO! Let’s get drunk on the thrill that’s about to start
Courthouse show!
I was going to have a SALTY DOG with you
But now I’m thristy for a glass of GUILTY DOG
Where’s this love headed? To find your answer…
Go ask the wind…
…Or better yet, go ask Herr Forehead!

No one can predict it (LOVE LOVE GUILTY)
Which way the ruling will go (LOVE LOVE GUILTY)
The sins people commit (LOVE LOVE GUILTY)
Who will judge them? (LOVE LOVE GUILTY)
In the depths of darkness (LOVE LOVE GUILTY)
Reveal the truth behind the crime (LOVE LOVE GUILTY)
The journey to the next world is so far (LOVE LOVE GUILTY)
A shadow is wandering (LOVE LOVE GUILTY)
I’ll search for the light

The neighborhood where I grew up, nothing much changed. People rarely left, rarely got rich. Never got out of their lot in life. The person you were born as was the person you died as. This sickness, this virus, and this wall we built to stop it, has changed people. It makes all of us see things differently. Some people have caved under pressure, and the difficulties they faced have only brought out the worst in them. Other people have risen up and surprised even themselves. New, and sometimes unlikely alliances, have formed. In the search for truth, some found not only answers, but redemption. The very concept of what it means to be a family has been reshaped. Sometimes for the better. And then there are those who felt like they needed to choose between their heart, and their duty, and in the end, found a way to choose both. This cordon has changed me. The one thing I never thought I’d find in all this sadness and sickness and death is love. And I’m going to try harder and be one of the people who rises up. — Jake Riley, Containement

A Voice for the Voiceless: The Legacy of Ida B. Wells

Photo: Ida B. Wells Barnett, in a photograph by Mary Garrity from c. 1893.

Ida Bell Wells was born into slavery in 1862 and emancipated by the Union Army six months later. She leaves behind a legacy as a voice for the voiceless, as one of our nation’s foremost critics of a racial injustice and a journalistic champion of the truth.

Her family was very active during the Reconstruction period and members of the Republican Party. Her father, James Wells helped to found Shaw University in North Carolina. After a tragic illness, Wells lost her parents and moved to Memphis, TN. She began her career in activism early as a student at Fisk University.

In 1884, after refusing to give up her seat on a train to a white patron, she was forcibly removed and later sued the railroad. She initially won a $500 settlement, but the ruling was overturned by the Tennessee Supreme Court.

This was her “aha” moment where she began her one woman crusade for injustice. Wells turned to writing and began chronicling issues of race and politics in the Deep South. Under the name “lola,” Wells became a leading voice on issues of racial injustice and eventually owned three newspapers including;  Memphis Free Speech, Headlight and the Free Speech.

In addition to her civil rights work, Wells also worked as a teacher in a segregated school. Her work there led her to attack the system of segregation and her vocal displeasure eventually got her fired.

However, it was the deaths of Tom Moss, Calvin McDowell and Will Stewart—three African American business owners in Memphis—that ignited her charge to take on lynching. Moss, McDowell and Stewart were killed after they opened a grocery store that directly competed with a white-owned store and drove business away.

“Our country’s national crime is lynching. It is not the creature of an hour, the sudden outburst of uncontrolled fury, or the unspeakable brutality of an insane mob.” —Ida B. Wells

Photo: Ida B. Wells (author), Southern Horrors: Lynch Law in All Its Phases, book cover, 1892.

In response, Wells traveled the South gathering records of lynchings and wrote  “Southern Horrors: Lynch Laws in All its Phases” in 1892. Her reports outraged southern whites and she was never able to return to Memphis. The next year she published “A Red Record,” a personal reflection on the lynching crisis and spoke around the world about the atrocities going on in the United States.

Segregation remained a cause close to her heart and Wells authored a response to the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition decision to ban black exhibitors.

She wrote:

“The exhibit of the progress made by a race in 25 years of freedom as against 250 years of slavery, would have been the greatest tribute to the greatness and progressiveness of American institutions which could have been shown the world. The colored people of this great Republic number eight millions – more than one-tenth the whole population of the United States.” Ida B. Wells,  “The Reason Why the Colored American Is Represented in the World’s Columbian Exposition.”

In 1898 she took her anti-lynching campaign all the way to the White House, urging President William McKinley to act to save black lives. Although several bills would be introduced, the United States has never explicitly outlawed lynching.

Photo: This is a flyer created by the NAACP in 1922 to raise awareness about the lynching epidemic that was occurring and the proposed Dyer anti-lynching bill.

You love me? I know.
I love you too. But we need much more than just that.

Our end is not the type of tragic which comes from people or distance playing the villain; it’s the type of tragic where eyes don’t meet, arms pull away and hearts separate.
I thought our names would be written on the dust of planets and the scent of our story would forever linger in the air but we proved love wrong.
I believe that the universe fought its hardest to write us a story that was the greatest, not written in the pages of books, but found in the glimmer of stars.
It’s so easy to say “Sometime love isn’t enough,” or “It just wasn’t meant to be,” but the truth is that we, like mere mortals, let down the universe, the fate in our fingers. We failed ourselves, and we failed love.

Day 13 of 25 Days of Christmas

A/N: Day 13! This is coming a little later than usual as I was in a plane with no wifi, going back home.

Dan couldn’t really explain how he had decided he was ready to have kids. If he decided to be truthful with himself, he could almost say that there had never been any particular point where he thought he would make a good father. Most of the time, it was actually the other way around, thinking that anyone unfortunate enough to have to call him dad would be ruined for life.

Everything changed the second he met Lizzie. He had been volunteering at an orphanage for a couple of weeks and, even though he found all the kids adorable and enjoyed playing with them, no one really caught his attention in the way Lizzie did.

She showed up on his fifth week of volunteering and Dan swore he could feel himself falling in love right away. Lizzie was just adorable. With her fiery red hair and freckles all over her face, she had him wrapped around her little finger from the very beginning and Dan couldn’t find it in himself to complain. It definitely helped that Lizzie seemed to get really attached to him quite quickly as well.
