“Surrender Donald” – Gay activists rally outside Trump Tower in New York, protesting the city’s tax breaks for luxury real estate developers while thousands of people with AIDS sleep in the streets. Oct. 31, 1989
NY State residents, please be aware that on Election Day (11/7), the BACK of the ballot will have a referendum to vote on convening a NY Constitutional Convention. Placing it on the back of the ballot was a DELIBERATE move.
If it passes, it could be a disaster for ALL CURRENT AND FORMER NY State (including state, city, county, town, village and school district) public employees (police officers, firefighters, corrections officers, teachers, sanitation workers, teaching aides, librarians, bus drivers, lunch aides, highway workers, board of elections, etc.) who could stand to lose a great deal, including part or all of their pensions or medical benefits (even those who have already retired), that they were promised in return for their commitment to their careers in public service.
If you love anyone that is currently, or has ever been a NY public employee, please TURN YOUR BALLOT OVER and vote “NO”.
President Trump said on Saturday that he believed President Vladimir V. Putin was sincere in his denials of interference in the 2016 presidential elections, calling questions about Moscow’s meddling a politically motivated “hit job” that was hindering cooperation with Russia on life-or-death issues.
Speaking after meeting privately with Mr. Putin on the sideline of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit meeting in Danang, Vietnam, Mr. Trump said that he had again asked whether Russia had meddled in the contest, but that the continued focus on the issue was insulting to Mr. Putin.
Mr. Trump said it was time to move past the issue so that the United States and Russia could cooperate on confronting the nuclear threat from North Korea, solving the Syrian civil war and working together on Ukraine.
“He said he didn’t meddle — I asked him again,” Mr. Trump told reporters traveling with him aboard Air Force One as he flew to Hanoi for more meetings. “You can only ask so many times. I just asked him again. He said he absolutely did not meddle in our election. He did not do what they are saying he did.”
A week ago, Daniel Loeb, the chairman of the board for New York City’s Success Academy Charter Schools network, accused New York State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins of being worse than the Ku Klux Klan:
“Hypocrites like Stewart-Cousins who pay fealty to powerful union thugs and bosses do more damage to people of color than anyone who has ever donned a hood.”
What had the African-American senator done wrong? Stewart-Cousins supports more transparency and accountability for charter schools, which are publicly funded but privately operated.
After my stint in the charter world, I have a lot of open contempt for billionaire charter managers who make money off of the farce that rich white people with their white savior “non-profit”organizations insist that they’re the only ones equipped to save black people from themselves.
Stop making money off of black poverty. Stop insisting that the black people who oppose you are too ignorant to know what’s for their own good.
