Men’s Sandals…It’s Okay Guys

Spring 2014 Men’s Sandals

Hear me out! Under normal circumstances I wouldn’t be caught dead in sandals anywhere but the beach or the pool, but that’s because I haven’t yet found the right pair that makes sense to wear IRL. Birks, Teva’s, and “gladiators” are cool again so why not give your toes some breathing room this season and give in to the “mandal”. But not just any sandal. Flip flops are for the non-faction. What you’ll want is a manly sandal - something with a sturdy sole and not too frilly. I chose this black leather pair with simple straps because you can wear it casually or even a little “dressed up,” but mostly because black goes with literally everything.

For this outfit I tried to rethink my spring comfy/casual which would normally be some crappy tee and a pair of jeans, and “elevate” my casual basics with pieces that look more chic. *Puts 50 cents in the buzzword jar* I went with slouchy trousers and an oversized jersey sweatshirt and light bomber in a darker color palette because in fashinn dark colors = fancy. And you know what else is fancy? Matching tech accessories, especially in leather. But I digress. One last thing to consider before you go sans socks this spring is the condition of your “winter feet.” Get a pedicure, put some lotion on those toes, and for the love of humanity please cure that athlete’s foot with some powder. So what do we think? Yes or no to men’s sandals? Chime in with a comment!

Wake Up, You’re American Dreaming

A Perfectly Preppy Outfit Of The Day

A few weeks ago I visited Nantucket and for those of you who haven’t been, it’s pretty much a picture perfect little town - I mean all the houses even have white picket fences.  With everything so prim and proper I decided to dress according to my surroundings and go for a preppy look with my own spin. The plaid pants are part of a suit which I wore here, but look great as separates especially when worn with a solid shirt for balance. The shirt is a new piece. It’s a short-sleeved denim shirt which is basically replacing my long sleeve chambray for the warmer months so it couldn’t be more perfect. The shoes and accessories are all items I’ve had for a few months now and just seemed to round out the look without adding too much fuss.

The Dressy Tourist

Just Another What I Wore…But This Time On Vacation

If you’ve been reading the blog lately, you’ll know I recently made a trip out to LA for a few days of R&R. While I was out there I wanted to pack in as many sights in my short time and the Los Angeles County Museum Of Art was one of the places on my list. Being a true tourist - I obviously had to stop for a photo-op (read: photoshoot) by the infamous “Urban Light” art display. My outfit for the day’s site-seeing was a little more on the dressy side because I had just come from brunch at the fancy pants SoHo House, but the clothes were still light and comfortable enough for a full day of walking around. I always like to look my best, so why should that change just because I’m visiting a city that’s not my own. This just goes to show that you don’t need to wear walking shoes, a fanny pack, and a visor when you’re traveling in order to still be comfortable.

Swimming Trunks You Can Wear Outside Of The Pool

Last week I made my first trip out to LA for a relaxing little getaway to escape the east coast hustle. Not to be cliche but like literally, everyone is so laid back and friendly out there. Like it was weird - but in a good way that I wasn’t used to #NYCshade. Not to mention, the city, sights, and people are all kinds of gorgeous. Anyway, I wanted to pack light for the trip so I tried to stick with items that were versatile. I brought these floral swim trunks which I loovvveee because after lounging by the pool, they’re also great as a pair of printed shorts for casually exploring the city. Anyone been to LA lately? Which coast do you favor? I’m always loyal to my NYC but I dunno now…LA is kind of winning me over.
