While at work on Friday, I found out about 6 releases that took place in two major American companies. I wanted to wait a few days to see if there would be anymore releases before making a post, but fortunately, the firing spree has ended.
Friday, February 5th, the WWE announced 5 releases from their NXT developmental program. The first announced was Bull Dempsey, which was shocking considering the spotlight placed on the Bull Fit campaign, and the fact that he’s gotten over well with the live crowd. Bull has since announced his first independent appearance, which will be in New Jersey for WrestlePro on March 5th in Rahway, NJ. Dempsey will now be using the name Bull James, and tweeted the following regarding his release:
It’s been real @WWENXT. Amazing group of coaches & coworkers & a helluva boss. Thank you for the opportunity @TripleH. See ya down the road!
That being said, I’m available for bookings, appearances, birthdays, bar
mitzvahs and everything in between! BookBullDempsey@gmail.com
The next two released were Sylvester LeFort and Marcus Louis, two wrestlers who I would have thought that the WWE would make an effort to present on Raw or SmackDown before giving the boot. LeFort and Louis were involved in a highly entertaining feud last year against the team of Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady, but unfortunately, haven’t been prominently featured since. LeFort posted the following in response to his release:
So it’s now been 24 hours since my release by WWE, and no lol I did NOT quit to put these rumors to rest.
First of let me thank all my fans for their continued support, and yes, you WILL definitely hear from, and see me again.
My 3 years and a half working for WWE have been a life changing
experience, both in and out of the ring, and I will always be gratefull
for the opportunity they gave me. They made me a better performer, in
the ring, on the microphone (definitely!) as well as a more mature and
life enjoying human being. Damn, after all, I started painting thanks to
them in a way! And you all know how much I now appreciate art.
But anyway as far as why it came to an end, let me use one my best buddy “Marcus Louis” metaphor about this business:
A Shakespear play is awesome.
But Spiderman is awesome too.
And if you’re okay at playing Shakespear, but VERY GOOD at playing
Spiderman, there comes a time when you either move on or they hire
someone better for the job!
This is pretty much what happened with me.
So from the bottom of my heart, thank you EVERYBODY : workers, coaches,
fans, behind the scenes people, for making this ride such an awesome
To all my fans, don’t worry, wrestling is still in my blood and some of
the products out there still gives me goosebumps. This is why I will
follow my heart, and I WILL be back in the ring.
Be blessed. Follow your heart. Give love and respect to your peers so they give it back to you.
Following an incident last weekend in the United Kingdom, TNA has announced the release of Awesome Kong. The 38 year old now-former Knockout returned to TNA in January of 2015, and recently became involved with The Dollhouse. However, TNA official John Gaburick made the decision to release Kong following her altercation, after which Kong had the following to say:
As if that wasn’t enough, the WWE also came to terms with the releases of Magno (Oscar Vasquez) and Peter Howard. I don’t know much about either of them, but still, that’s 6 big releases from two top companies within a 24 hour period. Ouch!
