Triple Rock Social Club, circa 1915

Here is a 1915 photo of the bar that became the Triple Rock Social Club in 1998.  Now know as a great punk rock venue, in 1919 it was a “tied house” for the Gund Brewery.  Tied houses were owned by specific brewers and served only their beer.  Before prohibition “tied houses” made up the majority of bars in Minneapolis.  The Gund Brewery was based in La Crosse, Wisconsin but had a satellite brewery near the current day Cedar-Riverside Light Rail Transit station.  Photo courtesy of Minnesota Historical Society.

Last night in Minneapolis, some members of MisterWives were sick so they cancelled. BØRNS and Handsome Ghost still rocked it, of course, and near the end of BØRNS’ set, he said “we should serenade someone!"

This had been my fourth time seeing them that week, so with the help of my friends, I got on stage. This is the result: me being very awkward but very much enjoying it.
