All her life she’s followed rabbits to see
Just where the creatures would lay down to rest,
But within her grasp they could never be
As the tricky rabbits moved far too fast.
She’d run and run but she’d never escape
The monsters that lurked just behind her back.
Always using the rabbits to outrace
The tainted darkness that loomed in her past.
One day she chased the rabbit through a hole
That threatened to change everything she knew.
She never gave second thought to a toll;
A price she would pay to be someone new.
No monsters behind her, or dark in sight,
Just warm sunny days and an end to night.
