tricky finding things to tag this as

New Carver/Merrill ship blog!

Do you ship Merrill/Carver? Struggling to find fanart or fanfic for the pairing for you to enjoy? Or have you created art or fic for the pairing, and struggle to reach other people who also ship this rare pair?

Then look no further – @carvermerrill is the place to come for all your shipping needs! We’ve only been around for a few days, but we have some great content lined up to share with you – so come and check us out!

1) What will you be featuring?

Fanart, fanfic, headcanons, meta, you name it! The goal is to feature works that have Carver/Merrill as the primary (or only) pairing, because it is so hard to find, even though there’s plenty of it out there.

If you have ever created anything Carver/Merrill ever, please do submit it to us or drop us a message and we WILL feature it!

In time, we are also hoping to run fic and fanart giveaways and events. Drop us an ask (anon or otherwise) with any suggestions for what you want to see!

Please note we will NOT be posting anything that only has Carver/Merrill as a background ship or background mention. There’s enough of that on AO3.

2) Why have you created this blog?

Because they’re my rare pair OTP, and because people have complained that it’s almost impossible to find content for this pairing, even though there is plenty of content out there – it just gets drowned out by other things, or lost.

For example, at this point in time, out of the 179 fanfics currently in the Carver/Merrill tag on AO3, only 72 are actually Carver/Merrill fics. That’s only 40% of fics tagged Carver/Merrill that relate to the pairing – making them EXTREMELY difficult to find for people who want to read them.

Also, there are so many ship names for the pairing that finding fanart is tricky. I personally am most familiar with the ship name “Carrill”, but I’ve also seen things tagged “Merver”, “Carvrill”, “Carvermerrill” and “Marver”.

So… after the fourth or fifth person who lamented to me that they’d been looking for Carver/Merrill content for ages but just couldn’t find it, I decided to create this blog to keep it all in one place!

3) Will you tag, and if so, what?

Anything that depicts Carver/Merrill as the primary pairing – and in a positive light will be featured, so Templar Carver, Warden Carver, Act 1 Carver, or AU Carver and Merrill – all of it will be featured and tagged appropriately.

Background pairings/ships will also be tagged, so that anyone who wants to filter out a background NOTP is free to do so! No ship hate for any other ship here! Just let us know if there’s anything else you’d like us to tag.

NSFW fanart or fic will be tagged as such, although we’re currently debating how explicit we should allow, content-wise.

4) All sounds great! Where can I find you again?

Awesome! Come visit and follow us at, and we will be delighted to have you!

Greetings, everyone. I hope you’re having a wonderful day. I’m here tonight to present you with a short guide to Tumblr for witches who may be interested in starting a blog here.

This post is obviously geared towards witches wandering the internet, but maybe some who are already here on Tumblr will enjoy it, too. I’ll be talking about the benefits to joining the Tumblr witch community, as well as some tips for getting started! Here we go!

What’s a “Tumblr witch?”

There’ve been culture-related magazines that have done huge articles on “Tumblr witches” and the witchcraft community on Tumblr, painting the whole thing as some kind of fashion trend or weird millennial hangout.

I’ve been involved with the Tumblr witch community for three years, and I can say that most of these articles don’t quite reflect what the witchcraft community on Tumblr is like.

A lot of them tend to paint it as an ideologically, culturally, and aesthetically monolithic trend, when in reality, it’s not. While it’s true that many Tumblr-going witches enjoy similar things or share fashion trends, witchcraft itself is not a trend, nor a fashion statement, nor is it the sole focus of the community.

In reality, a “Tumblr witch” is just what the name implies. A “Tumblr witch” is a witch who uses Tumblr as a blogging platform/CMS. Nothing more, nothing less. It’s true that there’s a large community of us, but we’re quite diverse

While many of us are young (millennials), not all of us as (I’m not), nor are we all of the same religion or mindset. You might even say that “Tumblr Witch” isn’t even a useful term, at all! Still, Tumblr is a great content management system for witches.

I think what makes Tumblr strong as a blogging platform for witches is that there’s an extremely diverse community here already in existence. So, in short, don’t buy into too much nonsense about what a “Tumblr witch” does or believes, because everyone’s unique.

Again, the only real way I can see to define a “Tumblr witch” is just “a witch who uses Tumblr.” It’s as simple as that! It’s definitely not some kind of tradition or mindset for witches - it’s just a matter of what blogging platform the witch uses.

08; badboy!namjoon

i shouldn’t (but you did) (08)
p: when they lean forward a fraction, as if to kiss the other person, then realize they shouldn’t and pull back to stop themselves

namjoon should know better than to follow you to the library when he has no intentions to study at all. now, despite the fact that he causes… a commotion and uproars in school, his academic report always seem to stun the teachers, making them do a double check because how can someone like namjoon, who breaks almost half the school’s regulations (with a good heart) and still manage to be the top scholar in the whole student body?

it didn’t make sense, until they take note of why namjoon causes a ruckus in the first place and even though it’s not condoned, they understand.

namjoon’s a troublemaker, and a smart ass. and he looks good, with a good ass. he’s the entire package, if you’re grading him and already he has an a plus, no less. you on the other hand (to namjoon, a plus in all aspects), academic wise… it’s been a bit tricky lately. so when you told namjoon that you’d be studying, he said he’d tag along.

however, there was a catch. no interruptions, no distractions and if he were to try to pull any sort of thing like that, you’re going to take the extreme and stay in your dorm where he has no access to you (even the windows because you’re locking that shit and pushing the sofa against it in case he manages to pick the lock).

which is why when you’re looking through for a specific reference book between the quiet shelves, namjoon finds himself staring at you as he leans against the opposite one you’re leaning against. with books in your hands and eyes skimming through the details, he gulps and resists because easy, namjoon. don’t do it. don’t do this.

he holds his breath and manages to keep the restraints on himself but as soon as he exhales, he leans forward and is at a distance where he can hear you sigh that he pauses. it’s a solid few seconds of staying in that position before he blows his fringe away and returns to his original spot, a good two steps away.

almost on cue, you look up from what you’re doing and smile, making namjoon’s heart swell and it feels like he can’t breathe when you’re looking at him like that. you easily step forward and he flinches, but doesn’t move away when you come close. his lips gape open, and they follow you slightly when you lean up but he’s quick to adjust himself when he realizes you’re trying to put your book back over his shoulder.

he didn’t get a kiss, he got teased instead.

he whines softly and his shoulders slack, frowning at you, “y/n…”

taking a glance around the area, you can conclude there’s no one watching so you get on your tip toes, with the book covering so you can plant a kiss on namjoon’s lips so fast, it feels like it wasn’t enough - or that it didn’t happen at all. he blinks, smiles a little, but you can tell he’s disappointed, hands aching to hold onto you but they’re clenching hopelessly by his side.

“that’s all you’re going to get,” you tap his lips and that’s when he decides to frown. he’s not expecting much, ready to follow you back to your table but then the light fills his eyes when - “because there’s still a lot of people here. when they leave, we’re coming back here,”

he makes sure he hears you say it, because he will use it against you. he grabs onto your hand before you move, his brow raised with curiosity, “f-for?”

“…whatever you want.”

that’s another a plus in a category namjoon knows you’ll never agree on.

So, “work crush” is now “person I’m seeing” and it’s new and a little tricky (from being coworkers and also having a significant age difference) so I’m trying not to set high expectations and just enjoy it, but he’s really, really sweet and I am happy happy.

I have been drawing art for years and while I can see I have gotten better Thing is I'm really just good at waist ups and headshots I find it difficult to draw poses and even when I draw a full body the head ends up either being too big or too small I also find hands to be difficult do you have any tips?

I’m so sorry that this took forever to get to, thank you for being patient with me!

For waist-ups and headshots, I find that practice is one of the main contributors to improving. I still struggle with things like motions and getting things to just look normal, but I can see the small improvements over time. I’ve been trying to clean up the tagging system, but the upper body tag works as really good reference tools, especially getting down some of that tricky anatomy you were mentioning. As I go through some stuff, more things will eventually pop up, but the very small head tag might help you on headshots.

References are really your friend when you’re first getting into it. It’s not bad to use references at all, in fact it’s one of the greatest teaching tools out there. I’ll eventually get around to making a master post of all my tags, but here is the poses tag and the art challenge tag which can help you further propel yourself into getting use to how both anatomy works and get you comfortable with drawing it.

And oh boy, you better hold on tight because the hands tag is just full of references.

Again, the more you draw the better it’ll get! Something what I like to do sometimes is go find a bunch of references and see how well I can mash them together. Like yeah, that person may be watering a plant in that picture, but let’s take this hand reference and this picture of a sword and see what I can do.

Anyways, I hope this helped! Have a great day everyone and keep on drawing!

☏: What is the most challenging aspect of playing this muse?

{As shocking as it may be, I’m a reasonably well moraled person I hope. And the most difficult thing is taking every opportunity to be nasty. They aren’t tactless - on the contrary, they’re very good at finding the line and then toeing just up to it, hovering over the edge, and daring anyone to say something about that.

              So even though it’s not so tricky to know what they’d do in overall situations - they abuse Cosette, insult teen ‘Ponine, so on and so forth - it’s the little things. Tiny moments of disrespect, asides to one another insulting whoever annoys them most in the room, that sort of thing. I like to think I handle it pretty well though}

mlgdd  asked:

Once you get this, you have to say five things you like about yourself, publicly. Then you have to send this to ten of your favourite followers (non-negotiable, positivity is cool~)

Thank you to you and @swiggle-muffin for tagging me in this- I’ve been putting this off because I’m finding it veeeeeery tricky… lol!

Okay lemme see…. 5 things….

1. My witty sense of humour
2. My unique sense of style
3. My intuition
4. My waistline :3
5. The fact that I have battled depression, anxiety, feeling suicidal, bullying, harrassment, self-esteem and body confidence issues, two failed relationships in where both partners tried to make me change into somebody I’m not… and I’ve SURVIVED. I think that’s hardcore as fuck if I may say so myself!!!!

Too lazy to tag and I think most of you have already done it anyway so whoever wants to do it can play along! :)

Because finding an otp tag name or one-liner character quotes can be tricky, I’ve decided to collect a few angsty ones for you to use. Under the cut you will find a list of #110+ lyrics from LAUREN AQUILINA’s amazing album, ISN’T IT STRANGE? that can be used for muse quotes, ship inspo, verse/otp names, etc. Enjoy and please like or reblog if you find this useful !!

Tagging things

Happy Thursgay,

So as I’m sure we’ve all noticed, as the fandom has grown it’s getting tricky to keep track of things in the main ‘Carmilla’ tag at times.

(Read: it’s chaos)

For the sake of finding things, it would be hella handy if people could tag with the post 'type’ as well as the main tag, not just for things like fic and gifs, but for discussion/analysis posts etc as well.

For example:

carmilla fic
carmilla art
carmilla gif(s)
carmilla discussion
carmilla review
carmilla nsfw
[cast members name]

blah blah blah, you get the idea.

I know a lot of people do this already, just giving it a signal boost.

(Edited to add a nsfw tag!)

incompleteexpressions  asked:

Hi, I'm sorry if this is a stupid question: I started writing a book a week ago and I am now approaching a section where dialogue is required but I am not sure how to structure it...I think I am having a mental blank because I really hate writing dialogue! Do you have any advice/guidelines that could help me? Thank you so much :)

I’m glad someone hates writing dialogue and has the honesty and common sense to ask about it first because, IMNSHO, there are too many writers out there writing too much dialogue. If you are writing a book, you are NOT writing a screenplay. You are NOT writing a stage play (but more on that in a second). Too many new/aspiring writers rely too heavily on dialogue when what they should be doing is perfecting the inner monologue of their POV character(s) and they manner in which that drives the story.

I have actually printed out fanfics AND original stories and had to mark who’s speaking in the dialogue sections because there are so many one liners going back and forth, I lose my place. Then, I lose my mind.

I have had to pencil in the same thing in a few professionally written and allegedly edited, big-house published novels, too. Maybe it’s just me?

I suspect all this dialogue can be blamed on video games, TV shows and films as influences. We’re bombarded with excellent back-and-forth dialogue that we can follow because we see mouths moving and we think we can or should translate that into our fiction.

What seems to be so often forgotten, though, is WHY ARE THESE PEOPLE EVEN TALKING? Dialogue scenes, like every scene, should drive your story forward. Period. End of discussion. No back sass.

If you are at a point where your characters need to interact with words, first you need to make sure you understand each character as an individual. How will they react to being made angry? Happy? Sad? Surprised? Or whatever emotional content will be in your conversation.

Then, you need to make sure you understand their dynamic together, whether it’s two people or more. Does someone used to performing for a crowd suddenly become nervous when speaking to one other person? Or vice versa? Is a difference in social status an issue?

Where is the interaction taking place? Will your characters be interacting physically with their environment? They probably should. It’s what we all do. You don’t want these interactions to become distracting, but when you watch two seasoned actors on stage, you will often see them utilizing props to punctuate the dialogue – sitting down when they feel defeated, pacing when they’re nervous, playing with their food if they’re distracted, etc …

Make sure you understand how all these work together for your story first. But then there’s the tricky part for some people: the words. I hear dialogue in my head all the time. Sometimes, I plot out a scene with nothing but dialogue, then go back and add the POV character’s inner monologue and descriptions and how they interact physically with the environment or each other. And cut out back-and-forth that’s not needed. Other times, it’s just the opposite.

Dialogue and Voice are not the same thing, but for further assistance with both, read this post from our archives. With resources, of course!

Here you can find some advice on adding details and handling tagging. And some more basics right here. And here

Author Ginger Hanson has a nifty, affordable e-book, supplemented by free resources on her website, discussing how to write what your characters do while talking.

It’s Summer! Time for Commissions! ♥

The downside of interning at an university is that I’m employed for 0% during Summer break. Which means no salary but I do have time for artwork! ♥

For detailed explanations about the different categories, please check out my commission info.

  • Fandom or original, real people are okay too if you provide references.
  • Preferably humanoid characters (i.e. a catboy Cas would be okay, but Cas turned into a cat might prove to be tricky.)
  • Nothing too explicit - suggestive things are okay! Chat to me about it and chances are I’m going to say yes.
  • Prices are in US Dollars.
  • Prices are for individual characters.
  • No or simple backgrounds.
  • On request I can do a proper background but it will be charged extra based on complexity. Just ask and I’m sure we can find something that works for both of us!
  • If you want something that is not listed here, we can talk about it.
  • Payment via Paypal, ideally once you’ve approved of the lineart

Feel free to browse my art tag. As you can see I use a lot of different styles to draw, depending on how simple or complex I want something to look. If there’s anything you’d like that you don’t see on this list, we can talk about it.

You can send me an ask/ chat with questions. Otherwise please use my email:! ♥

Individual shots, plus one family photo.

Things to note: no stands or brushes. Clawdeen is the only one with earrings. Clawdia and Howleen are wearing jumpsuits. Howleen has a bit of her signature orange in her hair.

All in all, a cute set. I don’t love everything about the styling, but there’s enough here to make the $45 price tag worth it. Just be careful because finding a set with four good face ups can be tricky.
