Binder Review!

Sorry the pics aren’t great.

Ancient Fish King / “Ebay Binder”

Comfort: ★★★★_
Binding: ★★★ _ _
Quality:  ★_ _ _ _

I got a size up by accident so it’s quite loose. Bad quality but binds ok considering. The fabric started to become pilly and scratchy after a few months and parts of it are starting to tear, but you get what you pay for. I would be cautious about this binder. People have been experiencing lung problems after wearing these binders full time, and some have said that they’re no better than ace bandages. Fortunately I haven’t experienced any trouble, but I wouldn’t buy this again. This binder is fine if you’re only wearing it for cosplay or something, but if you really can’t afford anything better, maybe get a size up like I did.

Underworks Extreme MagiCotton Sports and Binding Bra / Underworks 310

Comfort: ★★★_ _
Binding: ★★ _ _ _
Quality:  ★★★★_

It’s alright. Sometimes it pushes everything to the middle of my chest and gives me a slight uniboob, but It supports my chest really well. This would be good for those who are looking for something half way between a sports bra and a chest binder. If you want to get it to work out in, I’d recommend getting a size up so you can breath. Also I wish the material was smoother because my shirt keeps clinging to it.

Underworks Tri-Top / Underworks 983

Comfort: ★★_ _ _
Binding: ★★★★★
Quality:  ★★★_ _

Binds really well! But sometimes it makes me feel like I’m going to die. Kind of feels like it’s made out of the same material lawn chairs are made out of, but my shirt doesn’t cling to it so it’s cool. It constricts my chest a lot so I take it off as soon as I get home, but boy oh boy does it bind well.

GC2B

Comfort: ★★★★_
Binding: ★★★★_
Quality:  ★★★★★

Only got this today so I can’t say anything about how it’ll hold up over time, but so far I’m really happy with it! It’s super soft and so comfy. It’s impossible to get on or off, and at first I was worried that it’d be too small for me, but once I got it on it fit perfectly. It creates a very slight uniboob effect and binds slightly less than the tri-top, but the comfort makes up for it. I wouldn’t recommend this to those with bigger chests because it doesn’t seem to cover me as much and I can imagine some having trouble with their chests “spilling out” a bit. I’m really happy with this though, and it’s going to replace my tri-top as my full-time binder.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hey, is anyone in need of a binder? I have an underworks tri top binder, size medium, that i have only worn a handful of times. It’s practically brand new. I’m willing to give it away if you pay for the shipping.

ATTENTION BINDER-WEARING FOLK

I have been swearing by underwork’s tri-top binder for the past four years, so of course I was very weary when purchasing the half-length gc2b. I looked up a bunch of reviews on tumblr/youtube, and thought i’d give it a try.

I got this in the mail today, and all i can say is…wow

This is the most amazing binder I have ever seen. It’s also VERY comfortable (definitely more comfortable than a tri-top, and binds just as well). I’ve always had a problem with the tri-tops because they go too far down my tiny torso, so I fold my tri-top up at the bottom. The half-length gc2b binder is the perfect length! I no longer have to fold!

Another perk is that although the gc2b also has its seams on the side, the seams don’t dig into your body like they do with underworks.

I’ve also noticed that it doesn’t give you the “binder bubble” (where the neck of your binder shows through your shirt). I think this might be beacuse the neckline on the gc2b is a little bit higher up than the tri-top, but it is still comfortable.

The actual material of the binder itself is very comparable to the under armour material, with a “compression panel” built in to the chest area.

The best part of it all? the half-length gc2b and the underworks tri-top are literally cents away from each other in price.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BINDER TO EVERYONE

genderbent!haikyuu that's not all about menstruating and boobs!!!!

• tsukishima still has short hair bc it’s “easier to manage”
• also she’s still super tall and thin™ and doesn’t dress very feminine so people sometimes think she’s a boy but who cares? not her
• suga has long slender setter fingers and is the designated team hair braider
• yamaguchi, asahi, and narita are trans girls
• yachi is really nervous about away games and packs too many tampons and pads for the team bc he doesn’t want anyone to miscalculate and not have anything
• hinata is way shorter, like, around or even shorter than yachi’s canonical height (purely to retain the title of small giant since competitive girls nets are shorter)
• i said i wouldn’t go there but tanaka has really big boobs, like saeko’s canonic breast size, but it gets annoying because “playing volleyball with boobs is hard”
• kiyoko is a trans boy and only wears black tri top binders (and has never gotten stuck what a god)
• kuroo’s hair is even more out of control someone save her
• daichi can’t braid hair lmao
• tsukki is thinking about growing out her hair just to feel it being braided by suga bc her fingers are magic
• hinata’s hair is so wild bc she keeps forgetting to buy hair bands or to cut it so suga finally buys some green bobbly hair bands like natsu’s canonic ones so she wears her hair in pigtails
• kageyama is weak because hinata looks so cute in those hair bands
• kageyama has ponytails for dayzz
• yukie at first wanted to be the fukurodani manager to see girls in spandex but then developed a genuine interest in volleyball and the team’s improvement and later discovered he is SO GAY
• lev wears heels as much as possible, people look like ants from her perspective
• yaku got annoyed at lev and wears platform shoes for dayzz
• kyotani has an undercut and yahaba is weak
• yahaba hasn’t cut her hair since she was nine and always has to french braid her hair
• kenma still has the same hair length but forces her hair into pigtails, there’s always hair sticking out
• natsu is a tiny trans boy
• bokuto gets yelled at for not being ladylike but she always ignores them
• akaashi has no chill, she does conditioning and stretching in a sports bra bc she knows it makes bokuto sexually frustrated
• did i mention oikawa and iwaizumi are trans??????
• nobody has ever seen kunimi in a dress or skirt, she even wears the boys’ uniform
• kunimi once got in trouble for wearing the boys uniform in middle school, so the entire volleyball team wore the boys’ uniform in protest until they let kunimi
• terushima always wears the same silver studs every day and wants more piercings
• akaashi’s eyeliner is always perfect on the first try, it is an unsolvable mystery
• oikawa has no fashion sense since she’s always in either her school uniform, volleyball uniform, pajamas, or work out clothes (what this is basically canon already lmao)
• watari’s parents were alarmed when she shaved her head, but learned to let it be and get surprised when it grows past 2.5 cm
• ushiwaka and aone have floral print everything, they trade whenever they meet up

I finally decided to do a binder comparison. Mostly because I’m avoiding homework like the plague and because inquiring minds want to know. So here goes nothing:
The first picture is a normal bra, second is a sports bra. The third is an underworks full length binder, and the forth is my tri top binder from gc2b-apparel. Obviously the two “normal” bras are a no go, but I never realized how shitty the compression was in my underworks until I tried on the gc2b binder. I’ve had the gc2b one for awhile now, and I’m still super pleased at how well it binds my 34DD chest.
Oh. Also this is my “Your Gaydar Is On Point” shirt from boboacademy. They rock too.

Binder comparison.

Underworks vs my new binder from gc2b-apparel. Both are a size medium for reference. I would say they make me pretty much the same in terms of how flat I am but the gc2b binder is so comfortable it’s ridiculous. Also I could have possibly opted for a small in the gc2b binder but I was afraid my shoulders wouldn’t fit (I was in between sizes according to their size chart). I definitely recommend gc2b for any guys out there looking for a new binder. It’s so comfortable!

Do you have any tips for someone binding for the first time? Any good online sites to purchase one?

Hello friend!

First of all, I want to give some general binding safety tips.

1.)  Never bind with tape, or ace bandage. Tape won’t allow for breathing (and will hurt to take off). Ace bandages are meant to constrict, and place pressure, which makes them GREAT for rolled ankles or bad knees, not so great for flattening your chest.
2.)  Never bind more than 8-12 hours at a time.
3.)  Never bind while sick.
4.)  Make sure you’re paying attention to your body. If it hurts, take it off! Fluid can build up in the lungs really easily.
5.)  Try to have good posture while binding, take deep breaths, and cough occasionally for good measure!

6.  What I consider a super important tip- When you’re looking at sizing, make sure you measure your body with a measuring tape and go strictly by the sizes they have listed in their size charts.

If you cheat down a size because you think it’s going to help flatten your chest out more, you and your lungs and ribs will regret it. Or if you’re close to being in between sizes, maybe order the larger size. Especially if you’ve got a little bit broader shoulders.

7. A good binder should allow you to breathe properly with minimal amount of pain over 8-12 hours.

8. However, this might take some time to work up to, especially if you’ve never bound before, or you’re breaking in a binder. Start small. 1-2 hours, and work your way up from there. Binders will take a couple days to a week to break in where they stretch some more.

Now that we’ve gone over the safety information there are 2 main sites that I would recommend for binders.

Underworks: HERE

A measurement size guide for Underworks is: HERE

-

The binder that most I’ve heard most people recommend is the:

Underworks tri-top binder, because it cuts off at your midriff, and doesn’t bind all the way down.

It’s available in black, white and nude.

It’s available for purchase here: Tri-Top

-

The second one that I have, and also see recommended a lot is the:

Cotton Concealer Chest Binder, it has a binder concealed under a tank top. So it looks pretty inconspicuous. The binder is a bit shorter than the tri-top, which is nice, because it puts less pressure on your body over all. (If you’re tall though, the tank top will probably be a bit short. I ended up cutting the tank top bit off because it was never long enough and always came untucked and just annoyed me. If you’re not over 6 foot, I’d say it’d probably be fine.)

It’s available in black or white.

It’s available for purchase here: Cotton Concealer

-

Underworks also offers swim binders, which is cool. They’re available on the Underworks site along with a bunch of other binders you can check out.

-

GC2B: HERE

A measurement size guide for GC2B is: HERE

-

The cool thing about GC2B is that it was created/founded etc by a genderqueer person.

They have two binders available:

The Half Binder, about the same length as the tri-top from Underworks, maybe a bit shorter!

They have gray, black, white, green, red and blue in stock currently!

It’s available for purchase here: Half Binder

-

The Tank Binder, this binder is like the cotton concealer tank, where the binder ends  midway down your stomach and is hidden underneath a regular built in tank top!

It comes in  green, gray, black, white currently.

It’s available for purchase here: Tank Binder

I myself like the Underworks tri-top best. I tried the GC2B half binder, and while it did bind effectively, I would say it has less of a give to the fabric, (meaning it doesn’t stretch as much/if at all.) Underworks stretches a bit more, which I find comforting because I can get a nice deep breath going if I need to. Also, I had trouble with the inner fabric of my GC2B binder (it’s kind of a medium/rough canvas texture?), as I’m sensitive to fabric textures.

However, I know a lot of people prefer the GC2B binders over Underworks, and I will point out the GC2B one makes me look flatter, so it’s really about what finding what works best for you. If you have the money, maybe start with one, and if you’re not liking it, try another?

Also, I should note, different binders will be put on differently. GC2B ones are made to be put over your head, like a t-shirt, whereas (at least when you first get it) you might need to step into an Underworks one like this.

Anywho, I hope this has been helpful! Let me know if you have any more questions! Best of luck and be safe binding anon!

Also, sometimes you can find people doing giveaways of either purchased or handmade binders. If you search “binder giveaway” or something similar those will come up.

I got a new binder!  I ordered a GC2B binder about 2 weeks ago and it finally arrived today!  The first picture is of me with a sports bra on.  That’s what I normally wear on a day to day basis.  The second picture is me with my new binder.  The third picture is a side view of me with the binder on.

I haven’t worn a binder in about a year because I gained weight and outgrew my underworks binder.  My old binder was a medium underworks tri top and this binder is an XL GC2B tank top.

I really like this binder so far.  It’s a lot more comfortable and breathable than the underworks binder.  It doesn’t cut into my armpits as much and it doesn’t ride up like the other one did.

anonymous asked:

What binders do you recommend? I'm looking for one.

Ah binders. Good times.

First off, I would recommend that you do your homework on binders and binding in general. It can be unsafe and unhealthy if done incorrectly. As much as dysphoria sucks, a hospital stay is gonna suck more.

Some general binding tips that I’ve read over time (but I would check a few more places so you have good sources and make sure you know all the info).

  1. Never bind with tape, or ace bandage. Tape won’t allow for breathing (and will hurt to take off). Ace bandages are meant to constrict, and place pressure, which makes them GREAT for rolled ankles or bad knees, not so great for flattening your chest.
  2. Never bind more than 8-12 hours at a time.
  3. Never bind while sick.
  4. Make sure you’re paying attention to your body. If it hurts, take it off! Fluid can build up in the lungs really easily.
  5. Try to have good posture while binding, take deep breaths, and cough occasionally for good measure!
  6. When you’re looking at sizing, make sure you measure your body with a measuring tape and go by the sizes they have listed in their size charts. If you cheat down a size because you think it’s going to help flatten your chest out more, you and your lungs and ribs will regret it. Or if you’re close to being in between sizes, maybe order the larger size. Especially if you’ve got a little bit broader shoulders. (That was my mistake. I was in between sizes and should have gone with the larger size because I didn’t take my shoulders into account!)
  7. A good binder should allow you to breathe properly with minimal if any amount of pain over 8-12 hours.

Alrighty, now that we’ve got the disclaimer out of the way,  I would say you get what you pay for with binders. Meaning, yeah it sucks to have to pay 30-45 dollars for a binder, but in the end, they’re the ones that are best for your body health wise, and they bind the best. The ones that are available on Amazon from places like Whatwear, Lesbinders etc? I would not recommend them. They don’t get good reviews at all. Save the money and buy one from a place that has glowing reviews. It will last longer and be better for your body and better at binding.

The two I have (that are tad small for me) are from Underworks. They have a really great reputation, but I’ve also heard really good things about GC2B binders, and will probably purchase one of theirs for my next binder if I’m ever able to get another.

Underworks: HERE

The cool thing about GC2B is that it was created/founded etc by a genderqueer person.

They have two binders available:

The Half Binder, from the pictures this binder looks to be about the length of the inside binder portion of the Underworks cotton concealer binder. So like about the length of a sports bra. I’ve never owned one, but again, the two names I hear most often are Underworks and GC2B and most people seem satisfied with both.

They have gray, black, white in stock, but I believe at times they also offer navy and red!

It’s available for purchase here: Half Binder

-

The Tank Binder, this binder is like the cotton concealer tank, where the binder ends  midway down your stomach and is hidden underneath a regular built in tank top!

It comes in  gray, black, white currently. Again, the red and navy blue seem to be out of stock.

-

Anywho, hope this all helps! Again, make sure you do your homework, make sure you measure correctly before buying, and make sure you bind safely! :)

(Stitch has nothing to do with binding. He’s just cute.)
