Day 1: Mount Rinjani

After 7 hours of hiking we finally reached the Senaru Crater Rim, where we set up camp for the night.
Here are a few pictures of our setup and the view I had from my tent.
For so long I have reblogged photos on my other blog (v-agabonnd) photos of views from the tent and it’s been a dream of mine to one day have a view like that and just sit there and indulge in the scenery.
And that is exactly what I did here.
It was magical and the best way to rest.
That night I saw the most spectacular display of stars, literally felt like I could see the entire Milky Way.

Keep exploring.

Mount Rinjani Summit - 3726m

So on the morning of the 3rd day of hiking, I woke up at 2am to hike from the Sembalun Crater (2639m) to the top of Mount Rinjani.
I set off with my guide and a head torch on each of our heads. We soon got into a steady pace.
It was quite scary as on my right there was basically a straight drop into the middle of the crater and on my left was a slow incline of the hill… Naturally I stayed very close to the left hand side haha
With the final bit to go my guide and I stopped to have a few biscuits knowing that we would get up to the top before sunrise so decided it would be best to wait down here a bit away from the wind.
At 5am he left me alone to go check on the others who were still trying to get to where we were, and so i set off for the summit by myself.
I got up there at 5:45am.
Watched the most amazing sunrise I have ever seen.
And then admired this view…

On top of the world. This is living.

Keep exploring.
