Prompt: “Why does everyone think we’re dating?!“

Pairing: Jensen x Reader

Requested by: @bringmesomepie56

“Hey Grandma!” Jensen lays his gorgeous, green eyes on his favorite person in the whole world (other than you) at a family get together. He makes a beeline towards her with his best friend close behind.

“There’s my handsome grandson!” Grandma Betty greets with a big hug and kiss on the cheek.

“How’s my adopted grandson?” Betty boasts hugging Jared as best as she can, considering he’s a giant.

“I’m doing awesome! It’s good to see everyone.” Jared answers cheerfully plopping down on a chair at the kitchen table.

Jensen is extremely relieved to be home in Austin, sure he loves his career but the constant travel takes a toll after a while. His mind, body and soul can only take so much wear and tear.

AN: My contribution for Sakura’s birthday. Quickly jotted down on my extra long lunch break ^_^ Enjoy!

“This,” Sakura Uchiha grumbles as she drives her fist into the face of a particularly grimy bandit, “is not how I expected to spend my birthday.”

Sasuke makes a vaguely inquiring noise as he carries out a variation of his Shishi Rendan, sending his opponent flying through the air with several cracked bones.

“Never mind,” she mutters, ducking a clumsy kunai strike and using her attacker’s momentum to throw him over her shoulder.

The large band she and Sasuke have stumbled upon have been plaguing the nearby village for months, according to the inhabitants. They’ve take up residence on the only bridge in the area and have been charging travellers a toll to get by. Those who refuse have been violently robbed and left for dead, according to the warnings of several survivors.

It should have been the work of ten minutes to neutralise them and tie them up, but neither she nor Sasuke expected the majority of them to be former Kusa-nin. Even in this time of peace, missing-nin present a constant problem – especially those who made their livelihood pursuing war.

At least the Akatsuki had an actual purpose – these creeps just want to bleed people dry for their own benefit!

In the end, in the name of expedience rather than anything else, Sasuke traps them all in a genjutsu and Sakura rounds them all up. She’s kept the use of her strength to a minimum, not wanting to accidentally destroy the bridge they are trying to liberate.

“Excuse me,” You tap the shoulder of the man wearing a camouflage jacket. “I think you dropped your phone.” You hold up the phone for the man to look and he smiles.

“Ah thank you so much.” He takes the phone and proceeds to check into the flight.

Omega!Kylo arrives to the Finalizer for the first time. Alpha!Hux expected many things, already exasperated with the person that he has been forced to share the ship with but he never expected the Omega to be a mother already, bringing his baby son with him. Kylo´s mate died (or was killed by Kylo himself) and Hux doesn´t know what to do, his alpha´s intincts tell him to protect and fight for the omega, cuz Alpha!Phasma is doting on Kylo and his son.

There have been rumours about the new Master of the Knights of Ren, but Hux has been reluctant to believe any of them, wanting to everything learn about his new co-commander for himself.

Some say that Kylo Ren is an alpha, some say he’s a beta. There’s talk of his heritage, whispers of his possible relation to Vader himself and repute about his power.

And as Hux stands waiting for the infamous Master Ren to disembark his grand shuttle, all the rumours that’ve spread themselves around the Finalizer over the last few weeks spring to Hux’s mind until he’s managed to convince himself that Master Ren is an alpha like him, come to challenge him in every manner of his position.

The shuttle’s ramp lowers slowly, hydraulics releasing smoke that fans around them and Kylo Ren emerges from the fog, his silhouette cutting through the rising smoke with a sharp offence. He’s clad entirely in black, though Hux is surprised to find such youthfulness on his face; he’s sure he’s heard rumours of Kylo wearing a mask. Soft, black hair, plush pink lips, a strong body that’s perfectly accentuated by his robes.

That, and the piece of dark material that’s wrapped around his chest, holding a sleeping baby inside.

Hux gawks, eyes wide and lips parted. The child is no older than six months; their face still chubby and a tuft of dark hair peaks out from the sling.

But Kylo’s scent is like nothing Hux has ever smelt before; it’s strong but sweet, as though designed to entice others close but fierce enough to be threatened to ward others away.

Master Ren is an omega, and he’s a mother to that baby.

“General Hux, I’m presuming,” Kylo says, and Hux is a little startled, too lost in his own thoughts to realise that they’re now face-to-face.

“Master Kylo Ren,” Hux replies, noting how the omega’s right arm is subconsciously curling around the baby’s shape in the sling. “Welcome on board the Finalizer. Indeed, I am General Hux, your co-commander, it would seem.”

“I have important instructions from the Supreme Leader but before we begin, I’d very much like to be shown to my quarters.”

Kylo glances down to his baby and then straight back up to Hux, his hand rubbing across the curve of the sling, adjusting the child’s weight.

“Of course. I shall personally escort you. This way,” Hux turns on his heel, watching out of the corner of his eye as Kylo follows, droids boarding the shuttle and collecting crates and bags from the cargo hold.

The silence between them makes Hux a little uncomfortable, but he’s surprised to find that Kylo falls into step beside him, keeping up with him; no being less than an alpha would dare to walk at his pace. Already, Kylo is incredibly different from all other betas and omegas that Hux has met, and he’s completely intrigued.

The baby makes a soft whining sound but Kylo quickly hushes him, his hand moving inside the wrap to calm him. Hux watches peripherally, amazed that a Knight so strong with such an aura of mystery around him could possibly be motherly and be gentle–

“I’ll leave you to get settled,” Hux says, halting in front of a door. “A comlink and a datapad are waiting inside for you with everything you could need installed on there.”

“My thanks,” Kylo says, looking at the door. “I’ll get acquainted with the ship’s schedule and layout as quickly as possible.”

“Excellent. I shall leave it to you to contact me once you wish to meet and discuss the Supreme Leader’s business. We have excellent nanny droids on board–”

“No! No. He stays with me,” Kylo almost growls, and Hux almost wants to take a step back. “He doesn’t leave my sight. Snoke is happy with my choice, before you think of informing him of it. Is that clear?”

Hux blinks, mouth agape, feeling as though he shouldn’t be surprised by an omega’s protectiveness over their pup, but Kylo’s eyes are blazing with hatred.

“Transparently,” Hux says, hands held behind his back.

Kylo huffs, but the baby stirs, erupting into a distressed cry before Kylo has the chance to quietly calm him. Whilst still standing in the middle of the corridor, Kylo lifts his pup from inside the wrap and holds him in his arms, rocking him and hushing him, repeating ‘it’s okay’ over and over again; Hux watches in awe.

“General, sir.”

Hux turns to see Captain Phasma standing behind them, helmet under her arm, something held in her outstretched hand.

“Captain. What is it?”

“You dropped the keycard to Master Ren’s rooms on the way up,” she says, handing it to him, and it’s now that Hux notes a black bag in her other hand. “And I thought it best to bring the child’s bag up before the droids begin hassling you. Sir.”

Kylo takes the bag with a shy smile at her, nodding in thanks. Hux rolls his eyes but swipes the door open, confused by his reaction. Nonetheless, Kylo steps inside his new chambers, his child wailing, and Phasma follows him…And Hux is quick behind her.

“Is there anything I can fetch for you, sir? Perhaps some food for him?” Phasma asks, her voice softer than Hux has ever heard her speak.

Clearly, he thinks, his feelings of being threatened by Kylo’s presence were wrong. Phasma’s presence around the omega and the pup–both of whom Hux has just met–is making his blood boil and his heartbeat thrum loudly in his ears.

“He’s just tired,” Kylo says when he sits down on the plush couch, rooting through the bag that Phasma handed to him to find a pacifier, pulling it out with a blue blanket.

“Ah, space travel can take its toll on infants,” Phasma says, nodding. “I’ve read that keeping them swaddled during the journey can quell their irritability.”

Kylo chuckles, smiles, and Hux feels his knees weaken.

“I’ll remember that,” Kylo looks up at her. “Thank you. Captain.”

“It’s Christine, Master Ren,” she salutes, and he nods. “I look forward to becoming more acquainted with you and your son. Remember to allow yourself time to rest.”

With the baby now suckling happily on his pacifier and drifting off to sleep in his mother’s arms, Phasma turns and leaves, making sure to hold Hux’s sharp gaze for as long as she can before it breaks. There’s fire between them; a competitor’s blaze.

“If that’s all, General, I’d appreciate it I was given some privacy,” Kylo says, rocking the baby but making sure that he’s cuddled close to his chest, sleeping softly.

Hux’s hand twitches, imagining what it’d be like to touch Kylo’s skin, to tuck his dark hair behind his ear to kiss his cheek, to earn his trust to be allowed near his beautiful pup.

“Of course, Ren,” Hux says, hiding his thoughts. “Contact me once you’re ready to discuss business, with your son among our company, of course.”

Hux turns, chest feeling a little colder as he walks away.

“Hux.”

He stops dead, turns. Kylo still looks fierce and soft, like a poisonous flower, a deadly venom with a sweet and enticing scent.

“It’s going to take a lot for me to even consider trusting alphas again,” Kylo says, kissing the top of his baby’s head. “So I suggest your courting goes beyond secretive thoughts about kissing me. The same for your Captain. I am no prize, and should you think of me in that way then, trust me, I won’t hesitate to do what I must.”

Hux swallows, suddenly finding himself thinking of how Kylo came to be a single parent, alpha-less.

“I shall do my best to prove myself to you, Kylo.”

“We shall see, Armitage.”

Hux smirks, bows before the omega with a dipped head to show respect, before turning and leaving, but not before he hears Kylo make a content hum; a sound that’s known amongst omegas to mean the acceptance of a courtship.

Daryl Dixon x Reader

Warnings: Fluff

Words: 400

After the farm fell the group was on the road constantly. You were lucky if you were able to stay in a house for more than two days. This constant traveling was taking its toll on everyone. The group was able to find a warehouse that looked safe enough, but it wasn’t somewhere you could really settle down. Hopefully you would be able to find something permanent soon. Once the warehouse was cleared, Rick said that we should go on a quick run for some food. You were so tired and the last thing you wanted to do was go on a run, but you knew it needed to get done.

****

You and Daryl were at the front of the group, chuckling at each other. It was rare to see Daryl smiling, let alone laughing and the fact that you were able to do that filled you with happiness. To your surprise Daryl took hold of your hand, making you look up at him and smirk a bit. He gave you a quick wink and squeezed your hand a little. You rested your head against his shoulder for a little while as you kept walking.

“Check it out.” T-dog said to the rest of the group, pointing to you and Daryl. “Hey Maggie do you remember when-” You were about to ask something, but you turned around and saw everyone laughing at you. “What?” You asked, confused. Maggie put her hand up to her mouth to try and hide her smile, then nodded towards your and Daryl’s hands laced together. “(Y/N) and Daryl sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G.” Carl sang, with a wide smile on his face. Daryl turned around and narrowed his eyes at Carl, who stopped singing when he noticed the pissed off look on his face. “Aww, that’s so sweet.” Carol said. “What a bunch of fuckin’ infants.” Daryl mumbled under his breath and dropped your hand, walking a little faster ahead of you.

“You guys are the worst.” You said shaking your head at them, but couldn’t help the laugh that escaped. “Oh come on, that was so cute.” Maggie said. Maybe there was a mushy side to your big bad hunter.

A/N: Day three in Milan and traveling has taken its toll on me, I’m knackered 😓 but enjoying it! I managed to tick off something on my bucket list 😅 Here’s chapter three! (And the last you’ll see of Indy for a little while!) thank you all again for the likes/re-blogs/lovely comments! It means so much 😁

————————
Chapter 3
————

Greg had to restrain himself from jumping with joy hearing you say that to Indy. He was walking passed at the time when Indy asked if that was the best kiss he was going to get and watched as you placed your fingers to his lips. You didn’t kiss Indy even though you had countless of opportunities to, Greg knew he might have a chance if he found the courage.

“She’s all yours” Greg was dragged back into reality when Indy’s voice echoed around him.

“What?” He managed to speak out and watched as the rugged explorer put on his wide brimmed stable fedora hat.

Indy let out a small chuckle and shook his head “Y/N, she’s all yours. I’ve noticed the way you look at her, she doesn’t bite…” Indy took a breath and lowered his voice “Unless you want her to”.

Greg stood on the spot, blinking away the confusion as Indy let out a laugh.

“Your laugh is obnoxiously loud,” you peered your head from around the door and Indy’s mouth snapped shut “Oh hello Greg! How’s things?”

“Go-good! Great!” He nervously yelped out and pushed the glasses on the end of his nose further up with his index finger “I should be off” he sent you a small smile and hurried to his next class with reddening cheeks.

You followed him with your eyes before turning around to Indy who had a cocky ‘I knew it’ smirk on his face. “What?” You asked narrowing your eyes.

“Nothing!” He held his hands up in defence “Nothing at all,” he leaned in and pressed another kiss to your cheek “Take care, Y/N”.

You waved him off and watched as he left the university building, wondering if you’d ever see him again. You pursed your lips and turned on your heel, heading back into the classroom before your classes started.

After class you began organising the expedition and before you knew it the five of you were boarding a plane to South America.

“How long is the flight?” Molly asked as you stepped onto the plane.

“Fifteen glorious hours” you sent her a small smile “Best to try and get some sleep, traveling will mess up your body clock and South America is behind us time wise so that will make your sleeping patterns go haywire”.

The doctor nodded and settled herself down. She sat beside an unknown woman, John and Sherlock sat together while you sat beside Greg. The two men where sitting in front of you while Molly sat behind.

“What’s that?” You heard the voice next to you ask as you pulled out a journal stuffed with expedition notes in it.

“My bible,” you looked at it with a smile “Survival notes, useful contacts, maps, a list of some poisonous things and safe things. This,” you held the book up to Greg’s face “will save us when I can’t.”

Greg smiled “I think that you’ll be more useful than that book. I doubt we’ll even need it!”

You bashfully smiled at your fellow professor and thanked him for his kind words. He always was a kind and caring person, Greg would often pop his head around the door at least three times a day to ask of you needed anything or just to see how you were doing. You always looked forward to it, it was the highlight of your day.

“Can- Can I read it?” He asked pointing to your book and you blinked yourself out of your thoughts. You nodded with a smile and handed it to him, grazing his hand with your fingertips. You watched him as he began reading as the plane took off, not moving his eyes for a split second as the wheels of the plane lifted from the ground. He immersed himself in your writing and scribbles and little doodles of plants and animals.

You smiled to yourself watching him study each word, taking in every single letter of your detailed analysis and helpful information. “Is this you?” Greg asked taking out a photograph of you as a little girl, pigtails in your hair and digging for 'treasure’ in the garden. That treasure was coins your mother had planted for you, she made you fall in love with uncovering and finding things.

“Yeah! I must have been about six or seven at the time” you smiled and the corners of Greg’s lips tugged upwards as he looked at the photo.

“You were really cute” he glanced up to you and then back to the photo.

“And I’m not now?” You playfully questioned and Greg’s mouth gaped a little.

He held his hands up in defence “No! I mean yes? Uh no I meant-”

You cut him off with a giggle as you pressed the back of your head to the seat “I’m just messing with you, Lestrade”. He let out a sigh of relief and nervously chuckled.

He watched you turn your head to look out of the window “South America is a beautiful place,” you told him as you watched the clouds pass underneath you “There’s thousands of animals and plants living there, most of them unknown…there could be things there that will cure diseases we don’t have a cure for yet…” You trailed off with a small sigh.

“Why haven’t we found them yet?” Greg asked and you turned your head back to face him, you noticed the book was shut over on the pull out table in front of him.

“People are too busy fighting each other, people are also greedy and selfish. There are bigger problems in this world that we should be facing. We shouldn’t be fighting each other. What good will come of that?” Greg mulled over your words just as the air stewardess came with tea and coffee.

After gulping down the lukewarm liquid your eyelids grew heavier and you fell asleep watching the clouds.

You felt a light tapping on your arm and woke up with a tired groan “We’ll be landing in half an hour” Greg told you and you tiredly smiled.

“Thanks for waking me up,” you groggily replied, Greg handed you a cup of water “Thanks” you took a sip and handed it back. Upon landing in the airport you collected your backpack and bag. You knew there was no point hauling around a big suitcase and you told the others.

You scanned your eyes across the airport and couldn’t help but smile when you saw an extending arm waving to you. You motioned for the others to follow you and you introduced them to the young Brazilian man “This is Pedro, he’s my contact here in Brazil” you smiled and the others greeted him with a grin “He doesn’t speak very good English but he’ll get us to the border of the jungle”.

“He won’t be accompanying us?” Sherlock asked.

You shook your head “No, the entrance is as far as he’ll go.” Pedro led you out to his car and you tossed your bags into the trunk of the pickup “Oh give me a minute I forgot to drop in these documents!” You rushed back to inside the airport and handed over the paperwork to customs officials before turning around and crashing into someone.

“Oh sorry!” You politely smiled.

“That’s quite alright,” the black haired man nodded “I wasn’t paying attention myself!” He lightly laughed “I’m James” he stuck his hand out for you to shake as you walked forward.

“Y/N, that’s a charming accent you have where are you-” You turned around and the man was gone “From?” You slowly uttered out the end of your sentence. You blinked and shook your head, returning to the pickup that was sitting in the middle of the beating heat of the sun. It was sweltering already and it wasn’t even eleven in the morning.

You climbed into the boot with Sherlock, John, Molly and Greg, surrounded by your bags as you made your way to the rainforest.

You fished through your backpack for a bottle of water but pulled out a note instead. You brow scrunched a little and you folded it open, it read; 'You don’t need it to be like me, you’re already amazing enough on your own. Nevertheless, I think you’d look good in it kid….well I think you’d look good in only it if you know what I mean. Take care-Jones.’ You playfully rolled your eyes and pulled out the thing the note was attached to.

A hat identical to Indy’s.

You let out a snort of laughter and placed it on your head before safely securing your bullwhip to the belt loop of your trousers. You watched the city turn into trees and you soon began to prepare yourself for the jungle.

You asked Pedro a question in Portuguese while the four others watched you communicate in awe. You climbed over Greg and opened up a hidden compartment in the trunk taking out a few revolvers, ammunition and knives.

“Wh-why do we need guns?” John nervously asked as you placed bullets into revolvers.

You handed a gun to each person “Because I was almost killed last time, I’m not taking any risks. Chances are we won’t be the only ones wanting to see 'The Death Gift’. If you want to see it,” you pointed to Sherlock “Someone else will too. Not to mention there are unimaginable dangers in the forest”.

You finally reached the outskirts of the jungle and climbed out of the pickup truck. You thanked Pedro and discreetly handed him a few notes of cash before he left the five of you.

A rumble of thunder made you all look up and you smirked “Looks like we’ve made it just in time.” You looked back down to the four faces with gaping mouths “Now you guys are going to find out why it’s called a rainforest.”

All right guys, complete fresh post this time around. To summarize  - got a job but it’s not paying well nor promising the hours I signed up for so I’m looking for a whole new job while juggling bills and rent.

Just got out of an update/agreement-type call with our landlord and I gotta come up with $1800 or else…eviction is eminent. I have to cover 3 months’ worth of rent and they’ll be off my back for a bit. I already have about $425 in tax returns to look forward to at least (that’s almost one month. so 2 months is what I need, really; that’s what the $1800 is), so there’s that…but we need help.

If you can signal boost this, that’d be amazing. I’m currently working on my current load so I can take on more. If you’d rather just donate a few bucks or something, my PayPal’s funakounasoul (at) yahoo.com

I’ve been helping my wife with her many doctor visits and we are SO glad she is covered by the state insurance for those, but between those appointments, my job only giving me 20 hours a week and the gas it takes to travel…it’s taking its toll.

Um. ShikaHina anyone?

I have a couple unfinished ShikaHina fics lying around.  Here’s one I kinda polished up after I blew the dust off of it.

There was something calming about visiting Konoha.  Gaara never minded coming to visit after the war, especially since most of the shinobi world was concentrating on peace efforts, so it was easier for him to leave Sunagakure in the council’s hands from time to time. To be more accurate, he considered it somewhat of a mini vacation. Gaara inhaled a deep, clean breath of air, marveling at how clear it was and how little grains of sand didn’t tickle his nostrils.  He idly observed many buildings in various stages of reconstruction, many children playing throughout the streets, and shinobi training, much like his own village, so it was somewhat of a familiar, and almost comforting, sight.  It was a bright, clear, and warm sunny day–not blinding and scorching, like Suna’s, but enough to cause Gaara to sweat and to invite many of the villagers to the bubbling stream to play in the cold water.  The atmosphere was relaxing and the greenery and scenery around him had a nice, tranquil effect on him. That along with the faint noise of life rustling in the village and with the accompanying drawling voice of the new head of the Nara clan. Gaara was mildly amused that Shikamaru had willingly helped settle Gaara into the Hokage’s guests’ apartments.  But then, as a sort of foreign liaison as well as Hokage’s advisor, he really had no choice.  He was doing a thorough job touring the Kazekage on some of the newer rebuilt sections of Konoha, but Gaara did not miss the fact that the normally lazy ninja was a little distracted.  His brown eyes would glaze over while he spoke, obviously not quite entirely involved in what minimal conversation they were exchanging, and would somewhat linger a little longer on the training grounds or at a distance past Gaara’s face.  There were pronounced shadows under his eyes and his shoulders seem to sag a little lower than usual, but Shikamaru never gave anything away, and they eventually made their around the village on their path to the Hokage tower, the Nara seemingly running on autopilot the entire time.

You stood, with arms crossed under your chest, eyes sweeping across the room littered with ‘god knows what’.

Closing your eyes shut, you breathed a long sigh, exhaustion from travelling taking a toll on your body.

You knew it was a bad idea. You knew.

But you let it happen anyway.

Opening your eyes, you glance at the pair sitting across the room, completely unaware to your presence as they furiously press the game control buttons as their life depends on it.

Actually, probably it did.

You hear his loud instructions to the younger boy, “Come on! You have to faster than that if you want to survive”. The younger boy simply retorts, sarcasm dripping “Dad I’m not the one who’s slowing us down. If you actually killed faster we would’ve finished this damn game by now”.

You knew it was a bad idea to leave them alone, specially for more than a couple of hours. But the moment you heard that your long time friend was in the city, even though it was at it’s outskirts; you dropped everything to visit her for a couple of days.

So pecking him goodbye, you left; not before saying (warning actually) him to take care of the house and your son.

But really, you should have know better.

Watching them, your lips curve into a delicate smile, one which he would so often proclaim “Y/N that’s the most beautiful smile I’ve seen, but why do you only gaze at your son that way” acting dramatic. Though he would never know, you were sure you gaze at him with the same delicacy when he wasn’t looking.

You sigh again, a bit louder this time, and they immediately whip their head at a neck breaking speed, close to comic hilarity.

“Oh Y/N you’re back, sorry we didn’t noti-”; “Mom you’re back! Look Dad doesn’t underst-”

You chuckle at the mixed responses, one of mild fear and other of complete frustration.

Walking into the living room boldly, you grasp the controller out of your husband’s hand, settling down between the both of them as you reload the game, fingertips hovering over the buttons, determination flaring in your eyes. You glance at him again, smirking devilishly.

“Park Jimin. Watch and learn”.

It’s 2k17 why is there still Danny Pink drama on my dash?
Listen, okay, there is a real difference between telling someone you’re going to leave if they continue to associate with another person and telling someone you’re going to leave if they continue lying about associating with that person. The first is abuse, the second is just trying to maintain an honest relationship.
And Danny never, ever told Clara she couldn’t travel with the Doctor anymore. (Not that he could have anyway, but he didn’t try.) He told her about his own experiences in the army, to try to warn her about the moral toll traveling with the Doctor would eventually take, and he made the completely reasonable statement that if she continued lying about the Doctor’s existence and her friendship with him, the relationship would crumble. That’s it.

What would it take to survive in space?

Prolonged space travel takes a severe toll on the human body. As we seriously consider the human species becoming space-faring, a big question stands. Even if we break free from Earth’s orbit and embark on long-duration journeys among the stars, can we adapt to the extreme environments of space?

Without an atmospheric barrier and a magnetic field like Earth’s, most planets and moons are bombarded with dangerous subatomic particles, like ionizing radiation.

These particles can pass through nearly anything and would cause potentially cancerous DNA damage to space explorers. So, to survive as a species during space travel, we’d have to develop methods to quickly program protective abilities into ourselves. A beta version of these methods is gene therapy, which we can currently use to correct genetic diseases.

Now, what if we could turn the tables on radiation? Human skin produces a pigment called melanin that protects us from the filtered radiation on Earth.

Melanin exists in many forms across species, and some melanin-expressing fungi use the pigment to convert radiation into chemical energy. Instead of trying to shield the human body, or rapidly repair damage, we could potentially engineer humans to adopt and express these fungal, melanin-based energy-harvesting systems. They’d then convert radiation into useful energy while protecting our DNA. This sounds pretty sci-fi, but may actually be achievable with current technology.

Charles looked at Erik as they moved the furniture around the house getting different room ready for different training methods, “Hey…she’ll get the letter.”

Erik stopped and looked at him, “Is it that obvious?”

“You are brooding more than usual.” Charles smirked, “You sent the letter as soon as it happened. She’ll get it as late as tomorrow. After next week…then I’ll allow you to worry.”

“I just don’t want her to arrive at a warzone.” Erik told him, “I should have never left.”

“You’re probably right…” Charles smirked even more, “You should never leave a woman after bedding her.”

“Charles.” Erik said in a warning tone.

“Alright alright…” He threw up his hands surrendering, “But it is a gentlemanly rule…that you did break.”

“Shouldn’t you be training someone?” Erik huffed setting a chair down in a corner.

“Fine…I’m going…” He started for the door, “Once you’re done you should pick out a room. There’s a couple looking over the garden you might like.”

Erik shook his head. There were bigger things to worry about then garden views and moving rooms around. Bigger things then worrying about you.

He sighed shutting his eyes wiping a hand over his face, “You alright?”

He looked over at Raven and smiled a little, “Yes…just…worrying about things I can’t change.”

“The woman you went looking for?” She stepped over to him.

“Yes…you could say we grew up together for a small period.” He sighed, “It’s a little complicated.”

“Isn’t it always.” She smiled watching him move a couch, “Do you need help?”

“No, I’m just finishing, thank you though.” He looked at her, “Don’t you have a room to pick out?”

“I used to live here…kind of already have a room.” She sat down, “Just not sure where I fit right now. Charles is dotting on everyone else and…I’m just a disappointment.”

He sighed putting his hands in his pockets, “Charles is just dealing with a lot. You know him best so he expects different things from you…You’ll both have to compromise.”

“I know.” She sighed looking at him, “I just needed to say it out loud.”

He chuckled, “Come on, give me the tour. Help me find a room.”

“Gladly.” She smiled looping his arm in her, “I’ll show you all the secret hiding spots.”

“Oh goody.” He smiled to indulge her small crush.

A couple weeks later and they were in the thick of training everyone. Hank and Charles were assisting Banshee with a new trick. Charles looked at him, “You just have to scream. Remember to scream.”

“Oh this should be good.” Erik said leaning out the window feeling Havoc and Raven leaning out with him.

“You have to reach a sonic boom and it should lift you up.” Hank said casually.

“Should…that’s very reassuring…” Banshee looked at him.

“Not helping Hank.” Charles chided before slapping him on the back, “Just…when you jump…loud as you can, scream.”

“Right…okay…” Erik smirked as the boy leaned out the window slipping before he was ready yelping instead of screaming. Everyone cringed as Charles and Hank rushed from the window.

“Is this what you do here?” His heart sped up looking down at the voice. It was you smiling up at him, “Push boys out of windows?”

“Y/N…” He stared at you for a moment before Havoc elbowed him, “You’re here.”

“You invited me. Is the invitation revoked?” You set your bag down on the ground.

“No…no just…wait one moment. I’ll be right down.” He came back in through the window wiping a hand over his face before looking at Raven, “She’s here.”

“Yes.” Raven smiled at him, “And she’s waiting for you, so go get her.”

“Right…” He nodded walking out into the hall. He didn’t think you were coming. He didn’t have time to prepare you a room or prepare anything…He stopped in front of a mirror running a hand through his hair adjusting his sweatshirt.

As he walked outside he saw your suitcase sitting in the driveway alone. He looked around before he heard you from the bushes, “Just hold still, it’ll be better in a moment.”

He stepped through seeing Hank and Charles assisting you with Banshee who had a nasty scrap on his head. Your fingers danced around the wound making it close slowly.

Charles smiled at you, “Brilliant, your ability accelerates the organic matter to reproduce healthy matter.”

“It’s nothing…really…” You told him.

“Thank you…” Banshee smiled at you.

“You’re very welcome. Perhaps no more falling out of windows.” You smiled looking over to Erik. He saw a spark in your eyes light up, “Hello.”

He smiled offering his hands down to you helping you up, “Hello.”

He didn’t take his eyes off of you until he heard a cough. He looked over at three standing there, “Oh…allow me to introduce Charles Xaiver, Hank McCoy, and Sean Cassidy.”

“Everyone calls me Banshee.” The boy interrupted with an obvious crush blooming for you.

“No doubt a very fitting nickname.” You smiled at him then to the others, “I hope Erik didn’t extend out your home without permission.”

“Oh no.” Charles smiled at you, “Everyone is welcomed here.”

Erik hadn’t let go of one of your hands yet, “I will explain more, but I’m sure you’re tired…I’ll show you to a room and give you a quick tour.”

“Thank you.” You let him help you over the bush by picking you up by the waist setting you down on the other side before he stepped over.

He picked up your back, “You flew or did you take a boat?”

“I flew…first time.” You told him as he walked you inside, “It’s was a little terrifying, I’m used of trains.”

“I can understand that.” He nodded slowly looking down at you, “Are you feeling well? You look pale.”

“I’m feeling a bit tired is all.” You told him, “I feel as if I’ve been traveling for days. When it’s only been one.”

“We’ll get you settled then. I’ll bring you some food and water while you rest.” He told you as he guided you up the stairs, “We can talk later.”

“That sounds perfect.” You told him as he stopped at a door. As you walked inside he told you if you preferred something else he could find it later, “Erik, this room is bigger than my apartment.”

He half laughed watching you spin in a circle looking around, “Yes…I saw that. All the same, if it’s not to your liking. I just want you to be comfortable.”

“I don’t think that’s going to be a problem.” You stopped looking at him with a smile.

“Good.” He stepped over to a table setting your suitcase down before he stepped over to you, “If you need anything, my room is just next door. You won’t bother me.”

“Of course, thank you. You’re being very generous.” You told him clasping your hands in front of you.

He stood there looking at you for a moment, “Well…I’ll let you rest.”

You watched him turn from you, “Erik…it’s good to see you too.”

He stopped looking back at you and smiled, “I’m still not very good at this.”

“It took me a while too.” You told him stepping toward him. When you were close enough you reached up touching his face. He smiled kissing your palm, “I’d to get to know you more, if you’re okay with that?”

“I’d like that very much.” He smiled at you as your hand moved away.

“Till later then.” You smiled turning from him.

“Indeed…” He whispered watching you walk over toward the bed for a moment longer before he left. He took a deep breath as he walked down the stairs.

“Erik.” He looked up at Charles standing there a smug look on his face, “She’s resting I take it?”

“Yes…the traveling took its toll.” Erik stopped in front of her, “I’d like it everyone wouldn’t be overbearing and just…be casual…if it’s possible.”

“I’ll let everyone know.” He smirked more.

“What, Charles?” Erik put his hand in his pockets.

“I told you she would come.” Charles swatted his arm before walking off, “Shall I set another spot for dinner?”

Erik sighed rubbing his neck, “No…I think she’ll be sleeping a while.”

“Very well.” Charles said walking backwards, “I’ll set a plate for her in the fridge. No doubt she’ll wake during the night hungry.”

“I’ll leave her a note with a map.” Erik told him with a smirk.

“My house is not that big!” Charles chimed leaving his view.

Erik stood there a moment before he smiled the realization still sinking in. You came to him. Everyplace you could have run and you came to him. He cleared his throat heading for the kitchen to bring a water pitcher and a few sugar cookies Raven had made to hold you over.

He walked into your room quietly setting the tray in his hands down on the table. He glanced over at you in the bed. He knew he should just leave and let you rest, but he was so drawn to you.

There was something about watching a woman sleep that enticed him. The vulnerability of it maybe…He was never sure, but looking at you made him want to be something better.

He sat down on the edge of the bed staring at you. Watching your chest rise and fall in a rhythmic motion. He smiled reaching out brushing your hair from your face.  You looked so peaceful, something he didn’t know much about.

“I’ll keep you safe.” He whispered pulling up the covers over you, “I’ll keep our monster away and then I’ll destroy him.”
