Promptis in Episode Prompto (spoilers)

So at the end of this episode, as the last scene (aka secret ending), we get to see a discussion between Noctis and Prompto.  (Warning : SPOILERS)

Basically what I understand is that Noctis wants to unite the Kingdom of Lucis and the Empire (by invading Niflheim maybe? Since their Emperor’s dead anyway), for Prompto. Yep, I don’t remember him mentionning his wish to have their countries getting along until he knew about Prompto’s origins. He changed his mind, for this blondie.

So… He implies that he wants some kind of union between the Lucis (Noctis) and Niflheim (Prompto).

“We come together as one nation.”

Did you guys Noctis’ flustered/shy reaction when Prompto looks at him? (0.56)

Noctis looks away after checking Prompto, crossing his arms. “I mean, what does it matter where you’re from anyway?” (translate this as : “Not that I care that you’re from Niflheim but since it bothers you so much let’s just do this so at least you’ll feel better.”)

Then asks if Prompto’s with him.

And Prom replies ’‘Ever at your side.“

Guys, this is just… So big. Noctis wants a union between the Lucis Kingdom and Niflheim… All of sudden? Just for the sake of Prompto. And asks him if he’s with him, to make the world a better place (through said union).

(+ note that neither Gladio nor Ignis seem to be in the same room with them, Noct waited for them to be alone???)

The Promptis shipper in my heart’s still screaming. If this doesn’t sound like some kind of indirect '’let’s take it further and be one” confession then idk what this is.

Sum up in one convo :

“I want to break the borders and unite our countries, wipe away all of your fears of being different so we’re both the same through this union. Will you be with me to build this better world ?”

“I’ll always be by your side.”

(feel free to share your thoughts guys, I need to share the excitement)

the fact that the Russian language doesn’t have articles makes me go ??????????????? because in a native English speaker’s head it sounds like a hilarious shitpost type thing

so when you ask someone “Где водка?” it translates to “where is the vodka?”

but in my horrible backwards english brain if I don’t see any articles I assume they aren’t there, so yelling “ГДЕ ВОДКА” translates to “WHERE VODKA” like some kind of drunken maniac who you definitely should not give vodka to

Mikasa Ackerman - No matter where you are

Here is my translation of Mikasa’s character song “No matter where you are”, sung by Ishikawa Yui. I have tried my best to display Mikasa’s true emotions and feelings, if you have any corrections then please feel free to message me! I wanted to fit the message of the song and convey her feelings, so this may not be a complete accurate jpn > eng translation. However, I hope you still enjoy and support Ishikawa!

When I woke up again,
At that moment… I found you,
The nightmare of that day,
You rescued me from it… gave me warmth

I have been chasing,
Right behind his back
Like I’m praying for it
Don’t ever look back,
Why are you leaving in such a hurry?

Please don’t go
Even though I’m always beside your side,
I still cannot overcome my fear
Please, don’t disappear, from me
You are my home to return to
No matter where you are

In a world like this,
The reason I’m still alive… is because of the people I want to protect
It’s only this reason I choose to stay alive

A dazzling light,
A light that came into the darkness
When I was covered with wounds,
At that time… it gave me encouragement

Please don’t go
Don’t leave me alone again
It’s much colder this time

Please don’t go,
For me.
You are my home to return to,
No matter where you are.

Riei Stellaworth Short Story Translation

[The Little Mermaid]

(。-ω-)ノ  Sorry for the long moment of inactivity, folks! School got really busy. but I’m back in business now (yay summer) and I’ll be posting a lot more translations!

щ(ಥДಥщ) This guy is such a damn piece of work, my gawd hahahah.  MY GAWD THIS STORY. щ(ಥДಥщ)  HE’S SOOOO. TRASHY. щ(ಥДಥщ)  AGHAGA RIEIIII. I’ll be translating them in order of the original CD releases. Special thanks to Deea for getting the raws~

The storm caused me to fall from the ship I was aboard. Death was impending; my body was sinking towards the ocean’s floor. I was destined to drown… …until a girl appeared out of nowhere. She held my body and navigated the ocean’s waters with such ease, as if a storm hadn’t exist. Upon arriving at the shore, the girl whispered to me.

“Oh dear prince, you’re safe now.”

Her voice was as lovely as a bell’s ring. My condition wasn’t so good. Having drunk a bunch of salty seawater, I found myself barely able to move. Though, I managed to open my eyes and they would see who owned that lovely voice――Opened they did and saw clearly did they. The girl. Her legs. She didn’t have the legs of a human being. My rescuer was a mermaid.

There was a sign of a person approaching, causing the mermaid to rush back into the sea. A different girl came to help me. At the time, I was delirious and thought she was the one who saved me. I then became engaged to her.

Well, I thought it was all in good. Not only did I have a fiance, but I could also play around. My palace could only give me so much amusement and what’s a man to do when there’s plenty of beautiful women around? Even if I’ll be married, no matter how much I played around with girls, not a single person had an issue with it.

Tips to start reading a book in your target language

● Choose easy books
Shorts and easy books are the best option for starters. For sure you don’t wanna read Game of Thrones in your target language.

● Read books that you’ve already read
A known-story facilitates the reading of a non-fluent language.

● Read in e-readers
It’s great ‘cause you can use dictionary and translator by one touch. I’d recommend Kindle and Moon Reader.

● Don’t translate every word
Try to find the context of the word, if you don’t, translate. Don’t make your reading massive.

● Make the lecture a habit
Read everyday anytime you can, just as your native language.

● Don’t wait!
Don’t way to be in a intermediate level, you can start the reading being a beginner (there’s tales and short stories for beginners)

● Think in your target language
It’s kinda hard, I know, but it’s necessary. Think on that language while reading, otherwise it won’t help that much.

Bonus:
WordReference - a great online/app dictionary-translator
My dictionary - a great site/app where you can add learned words and do exercises with ‘em.

Glad to help, any doubts you can totally ask me! Greetings from Brazil! =D

Psychic Gifts best suited for the Signs

Before I begin my list, I want everyone to know it is possible to practice and fine tune all of these abilities. Every person has the ability to open their third eye, aka decalcify the pineal gland, which then can help open up your 6th sense as long as you practice at it.

Aries - Clairvoyant: This type of psychic ability is best suited to Aries, who has to see it to believe it. Feeling things and communication isn’t normally your forte, but when you can physically see something, it is much easier for you to work with. Auror reading falls under this category, almost anything that you can see falls under this category.

Taurus - Psychometrist: Reading information contained in the energy of objects would best be suited to Taurus, who rules over the physical plane and material objects. Not to mention your affinity for material possessions and pretty objects makes you more inclined to be able to sense and read information contained inside of objects. These are the type of psychics that are brought into the evidence room

Gemini - Psychographer: This is the practice where you translate non-physical consciousness through “psychic writing”. This is where you tune out and just write on an unconscious level while tapping into otherworldly energies and just write what ever comes to your hand. And since Gemini rules the house of writing, this would be the more natural ability for you to develop.

Cancer - Clairsensitive: This ability is all about feeling. It is sometimes confused with intuition, which is slightly different on a few levels. Cancers are deeply sensitive and connected to their feelings, so it is only natural that you have the ability to feel surrounding energies and thing on a non-physical conscious plane.

Leo - Precognition: This is the ability to read all the possibilities of the future, and Leos have such a great imagination and desire for a positive future, that you often find yourself imagining what your own future would be like. And this ability can be translated to other people if you learn to use your imagination to sense out what possibilities someone has in their future. Though future readings are never easy and always have different possibilities, because nothing is ever set in stone and human beings have the gift of free will.

Virgo - Psychic Surgeon: There is no one better for this type of job than the ruler of health and service. When you see someone in pain, it is your instinct and natural desire to do anything you need to do to help them. And as a psychic surgeon you can operate intraphysically on non-physical trauma.

Libra - Telepath: This is the ability to read information mind to mind, and as a Libra with wonderful social grace that comes from your ability to connect with people and form partnerships, this seems like the best option for you.

Scorpio - Lucid Dreamer: This is the ability to consciously know that you are dreaming and to access the dream world, Dream Control is also another step into this world, and what better ability for Scorpio to master than the ability to control your dreams, since you get an odd satisfaction from having power and control.

Sagittarius - Astral Traveler: Sagittarius rules the house of Travel and exploration, and when it comes to astral projection no one is more fearless and eager than you are to leave your physical body and traverse all physical and nonphysical planes.

Capricorn - Retrocognition: The ability to look into past lives is a very sought after gift that many people seek readers out for to explain parts of their personality or fears that are unexplainable. And I think Capricorn would do well with this ability with an affinity for being sought after for advice and a connection to the past.

Aquarius - Psychophoner: This ability allows a nonphysical consciousness to speak through you, and I think this would go well with Aquarius who rules communication on a much larger scale than either Gemini or Libra. Aquarius rules over the tarot card “The Star” because she symbolizes the communication and transferring information from the heavens to the earth.

Pisces - Intuitive: This is an intimate and clear knowledge about a situation, and it is more based off of instinct and immediate reactions and feelings to something. It is the immediate and instinctive part that separates this from clairsensitive, and I think pisces works well with this ability because they are so sensitive and rule over the house of mystics and self undoing.

(Some spoilers for GotG 2)

Headcanon that, as a slave, Yondu never learned how to read and write. After Stakar got him free, he learned some things, the absolute basics and the most commonly used runes of that part of the universe he lives in, but Yondu was too proud to let Stakar’s team see him struggle over something so little, and too impatient to be taught, so he never deepened his knowledge. He struggles with reading, has to read slow and with squinted eyes, letters tumbling around in his head, and writing… well, he can, but he does so horribly, without any rules of grammar or spelling. He simply settles for asking people questions (either nicely or with the help of his arrow) to get information that he needs. He has a translator for spoken words, after all – it’s easier than learning to read those silly runes where there is no device translating them for you.

Later, when Kraglin and Horuz join his Ravager clan, he simply leaves the whole reading and writing thing to them. Especially Kraglin never asks why, would never think of questioning him.

The funny thing? It’s Peter who, indirectly and without knowing, helps Yondu get better at both reading and writing.

The boy is Terran – he has no idea how to read and write the alien runes he encounters after he has been abducted. But he is curious, determined and young and smart enough to learn a lot of things, if he finds the patience to do it. And after he finds out that Kraglin doesn’t always have time for him to read him everything, and Yondu is strangely aggravated whenever Peter asks for help with reading, Peter decidces that he needs to learn it himself.

It takes whining, yammering and being the most annoying little pest he can be, mixed with good arguments (“How am I supposed to be useful to you guys if you not even teach me?”), but finally, he manages to convince them that they teach him. Kraglin teaches him the basics, knowing that the others would not have the patience to teach those to a child like Peter, who barely can sit still as it is. After that is done, Horuz takes over the finer details, teaching Peter how to do correct grammar, write whole sentence, and how to write formal and informal.

Peter learns quick – despite everybody always telling him that he never learns, he has a good head on his shoulders and is quick on the uptake. He is more than proud of his success, in fact, he may or may not be gloating a bit.

So much, in fact, that he has to show Yondu his success. The Captain always insists that Peter’s head is filled with air, so Peter will prove him wrong.

So the boy carries the few easy books the Ravagers picked up for him to Yondu, who is currently placing a new trinket on his control console, and plops down in front of the Centaurian. “Yondu, look what I learned today!”

“Ain’t got time for ya, boy.”

Peter ignores the grumbled answer – Yondu isn’t even doing something important, just glancing out the window every now and then, or looking over to that one communication device that has never shown any sign of life since Peter’s been here. It looks bigger and flashier than the other direct and private comms, decorated with the Ravager’s flames. Yondu has never once touched it, and never has someone called from the other side.

Perhaps Yondu is waiting for a call.

Since that’s not going to happen, Peter knows, he starts explaining, draping his book all over Yondu’s lap, making the Centaurian grunt in surprise. “See, today Horuz explained to me how to read Xandarian runes…”

“Boy, what did I just tell ya…!”

“And you see, I had this big problem with this rune here, but once I figured out that it can have two different meanings, it’s super easy! You just have to read the rest of the sentence to see which makes more sense, and…”

Peter babbles onwards, pointing and explaining at highspeed, and he’s so captured by all the new things he has to show, he doesn’t even notice that Yondu has neither kicked him off nor threatened him any further. In fact, had Peter paid attention to his surroundings, he would probably have noticed that Yondu’s interest had long since been captured, red eyes following Peter’s finger dancing over the runes intently, Yondu taking in what the boy gives him.

“… so, it’s not even that difficult, once you get the hang of it!” Peter finishes, beaming up at Yondu… who looks weirdly calm, the boy realizes only now.

“…Yondu?”

“Pete!” Kraglin’s loud voice saves Yondu from any explanation he has to give, his first mate appearing behind his seat. “I told ye you’re supposed to help with dinner in exchange for the readin’ lessons!”

“But the cook will try to make me for dinner!” Peter protests.

“Bullshit, I told ye we won’t let him. Scram, boy, Capt’n got stuff to do.”

Yondu stays behind as Kraglin drags the boy off (“Sorry ‘bout that, Capt’n.”) just sits there with the books Peter has forgotten on his lap.

He gingerly lifts one of them up, squinting at the letters Peter had just explained to him.

It really didn’t sound that difficult…

“You just have to get the hang of it.”

That’s what Stakar had told him, once, a long time ago, when Yondu had thrown his books away out of frustration.

His gaze wanders over to the silent comm – the one and only direct comm to Stakar and his team. He hasn’t used it since… their fallout, and Stakar hasn’t called him, either. Of course not.

His hand twitches towards it, as if he wants to use it… but he doesn’t. Won’t ever do so.

The next evening, when Peter leaves his reading lessons (and hooray, he had survived the cook the night before!), he runs into a pair of legs at full-speed.

The whistle he gets for that is unmistakable, as is the glint of red somewhere over his head. Luckily, the arrow is gleaming, but not out of its holster yet.

Leaning back that he doesn’t have to breathe in leather and plasma, Peter waves up. “Uh, hi, Yondu.”

“Quill,” Yondu’s grin is gold and copper and pointy, but Peter has long since learned when he has to fear that smile. Right now, he doesn’t have to. “How ya doin’ with that readin’ stuff?”

“Eh?! You want to know?!”

“Better make sure that ya don’t mess up, eh?”

Peter’s surprised (delighted) expression falls, and he pouts. “I’m not messing up.”

“Oh? Show me what’cha got, then.”

This time, when Kraglin walks in and finds both Peter and Yondu sitting on the ground next to Yondu’s collection of trinkets, Peter having strewn out the books in front of him and eagerly explaining what he has learned today, Kraglin doesn’t dare to intervene.

Something about the way Yondu actually listens, nodding from time to time when Peter can’t see, together with the fact that Kraglin never has seen the Captain read up until now, tells the first mate to shut his mouth about this.

He very, very quietly leaves the room, closing the door behind himself.

He will just pretend he hasn’t seen anything.

I was just thinking about how foreign names are declined in Slovene (as one does) and how in the Slovene translation of Harry Potter, “You-Know-Who” is Saj Veš Kdo where the last word is a pronoun (as in the original), which means it declines according to the irregular pronominal declension (so not Saj Veš Kdo-ja, Saj Veš Kdo-ju, … but Saj Veš Koga, Saj Veš Komu, …), which is completely normal and expected, but then I though about how English also has pronominal declension and how then a form like You-Know-Whom must exist and now I just can’t stop laughingn

Yuri and Otabek have to split because of their training, so they have to rely on social media to keep in contact. However, time zones are a bitch, so Yuri leaves behind a voicemail for him.

A/N: This was so fucking hard to do you have no idea. xD I had to do this a sentence at a time and edit it all together. But, I LOVE the way it turned out! I would love to do more like this in the future (Russian speakers please tell me how accurate I am in my translation). Translation below the cut! Also, REQUESTS ARE CLOSED! However, if you want to buy a commission, look here for info! Thank you for listening!

op: while jonghyun was writing “suit up” at 3am in the studio there were two cockroaches recklessly skittering about together and rubbing against each other. he said that’s how “바퀴 (where are you)” came to be written. he said he was thinking: “i’m here alone at this time like this while writing "suit up

[translator’s note: the original title of ”바퀴 (where are you)“ was ”바퀴벌레 “ which means cockroach. it’s also slang for couples who are always annoyingly sticking together and being too couple-y.]

Ciao, hallo, ahoj, здра́вствуйте…that’s hello (hi) in languages that I’m learning - italian, german, slovak/czech (my first language) and russian. As you can see, I love languages. You could call me a language freak. I enjoy learning them and I would love to see other people enjoying it too. So that’s why I’m here today. Writing this post about how to learn any foreing language.

  • 1. VOCABULARY

For me, vocabulary is the most important part of any language. You can know the grammar, the pronunciation and everything else, but if you don’t know words, you can’t do anything. For many years, as I was younger, I struggled to learn new words. I often just translated them and that was all. Then I finally did what was necessary. I wrote them down.
Yes, that’s the first step. Write the freakin’ words somewhere, then write the translation, if you need to, a sentence where it is used (in languages such as german, do it so the word will be in nominative, so you won’t mess up the article). Read it out loud and when revising, make flashcards.
One tip when it comes to flashcards with vocab. Don’t make a flashcard of every single word you have on your list. It will consume your time, paper and your energy. Do it only with really hard words that you can’t remember.

  • 2. GRAMMAR

This is the most annoying thing for me to this day. I don’t like grammar, I struggled with grammar even in my native language (because we have i/y and billions of rules, you would understand if you were from Slovakia). What usually works for me is a simple training. Make a chart of the words in sentence, and write how did they change, or where do they need to be and so. Then just write simple sentences and have someone to correct them (teacher or some friend who is really good in the language).

  • 3. READ

Read books and articles in the language that you are trying to learn. Underline and translate the words you don’t understand (then follow the steps in 1.) Reading help so much. My english is not a product of teachers in schools and language courses after school. It’s the product of me reading every single book in english since I was 10 (or around 10 I think). Don’t worry about you not enjoying the book or the plot. That will come later. First few books are there for you to get used to it and then you will enjoy it. I promise.

  • 4. SPEAK & WRITE

Find someone who you can speak and/or write with. Native speakers are the best and if they know your first language, that’s even better. This can help you so much, because you are actually using the language in real life situation. If you don’t know anyone in person, try the internet (if you want to speak with me, message me any time).

  • 5. MOVIES, TV SHOWS

This one is really simple, just set the language to the one you want to learn. First you can try with only subtitles, then also the language. Maybe you won’t notice, but you will learn the correct pronunciation of words and you will learn the accent.

  • 5. THE GREAT SOURCE OF KNOWLEDGE - INTERNET

If you are on your computer or phone, use sites like:

  • duolingo
  • memrise
  • quizlet
  • any news site in language of your choice

There are also applications where you can create digital flashcards (Wokabulary for example).

  • 6. MOTIVATION

Never forget - the biggest thing is to have motivation. Don’t learn a language without one. Find something you love about the language, have some goal or something, but don’t learn the language just because you need to. It only makes you hate the language.
For example I learn italian because I love the culture and people there and I want to be able to make friends in Italy as I go there every year. My reason to learn german is that I want to study (and late maybe live) in Austria and there is only a limited number of universities that teach in english so I need to be really good in german. Find something like this and I guarantee you that your next hobby is going to be called “foreing languages”.

I hope this will help you on your journey to become the ultimate language freak like me.
