Speculation: A New Signings XI |

With actual solid transfer news rather slow so far this week, I thought I’d do something different. I get asked a lot about players I’d want to sign and my responses are always similar because of my beliefs over which positions we actually need to strengthen. So, for a bit of fun and something different, here’s an entire XI of players that could be potential targets for the Reds if they were to sign a player in each position of Klopp’s current preferred formation.

Goalkeeper: Jack Butland | Stoke City  | £10-15m

It’s sometimes easy to forget Jack Butland exists due to his leg injury having put him out of all football for the better part of a year but for me, Liverpool should just use this factor as a way to get him on a cut price deal. The Englishman was the best keeper in the league last season aside from David De Gea and his reflexes and save ability is almost freakish.

Right Back: Djibril Sidibé | AS Monaco | £15-20m

Will be incredibly surprised if Europe’s top teams don’t try and raid AS Monaco of practically their entire starting XI this Summer. The French team have been on fire in both Europe and Ligue 1 this season and the man the Reds could use the most is Djibril Sidibé. The Frenchman is capable of playing both left and right back and is just as good offensively as he is defensively. Would provide competition for Clyne and give us a viable option at left back.

Centre Back: Virgil Van Dijk | Southampton | £50m

One of the most in demand centre backs in the Premier League and for good reason. The Dutchman is a tall, strong, tough tackling, hard working leader with an impressive composure on the ball and would improve any defence in the League. It’s going to be tough to win him over - Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton and City are supposedly also interested - and he won’t come cheap but Liverpool should be doing everything to snap him up.

Centre Back: Kalidou Koulibaly | Napoli | £40m

If the Reds can’t get VVD then Koulibaly would be a more than suitable alternative. The Senegalese international is an absolute man mountain of a centre back who would add pace, strength and height to the Liverpool back line. He’s also superbly composed in possession and boasts a pass accuracy of 89% in the Serie A. Also won’t come cheap but such if the nature of the market these days.

Left Back: Luke Shaw | Manchester United | £15m

Probably an unpopular suggestion amongst Liverpool supporters but hear me out. We need a left back - desperately - and Shaw not only plays the position but has done so in the Premier League for the last 4 years, is the perfect age for a Jurgen Klopp signing and due to his fallout with Jose Mourinho, would likely be available on the cheap. Always hard to get a United player to Liverpool though.

Defensive Midfielder: William Carvalho | Sporting Lisbon | £25-30m

As typical a midfield destroyer as they come, Carvalho would provide the Reds midfield with extra strength and stability in the number 6 role. He’s not as dynamic as Jordan Henderson and certainly lacks the pace to be as box to box as the Reds skipper but he would provide a solid option against the likes of West Brom, Watford and Stoke who look to bully the Reds midfield with his 6′3/89kg frame making it hard to out muscle him.

Box to Box Midfielder: Naby Keita | RB Leipzig | £25m

He’s essentially the Bundesliga’s version of N’Golo Kante with an added goal threat. Standing at just 5′7, the Guinean is ridiculously strong for his stature and possesses pace, quick feet, an eye for goal and superb creative vision - evident in his 8 goals and 7 assists this season for Leipzig. Can also play as a 6, 8 or 10 in a 4-3-¾-2-3-1. For the touted price of £25m you’re getting nothing short of a bargain.

Attacking Midfielder: Marco Asensio | Real Madrid | £45-50m

The Reds reportedly had a £42 bid already turned down for the Spaniard and it looks as if Real Madrid would not be happy to let him go just yet. However, if I was Jurgen Klopp I’d be desperately looking to test their resolve. Capable of playing anywhere across the supporting three, Asensio scores, assists, has a surprising amount of pace and possesses an impressive first touch.

Left Wing: Julian Brandt | Bayer Leverkusen | £20-25m

He’s reportedly Jurgen Klopp’s top target this Summer and he would provide the Reds with some real quality in depth out in the wide areas. Capable of playing left, right and centrally, the young German is skilful, possesses great vision and impressive strength and physicality for a winger.

Right Wing: Douglas Costa | Bayern Munich | £25m

He’s been linked almost endlessly across the last 2 or 3 days and would represent a bit of a wild card for Klopp. The Brazilian hasn’t been on form this season and has struggled for game time but when he’s playing well his pace, trickery, direct running style and eye for goal make him very similar to a certain Sadio Mane - the kind of player the Reds should definitely be looking to add more of. If Klopp signs him on a cut price deal I’d have no complaints.

Striker: Alexandre Lacazette | Olympique Lyon | £45-50m

It’s no secret that I absolutely love this guy as a footballer. He’s quick, strong, skilful, intelligent and consistently bangs in goals left, right and centre. Also a more than competent penalty taker, giving Liverpool an option from the spot should James Milner not be a starter next season. Comes with a huge price tag but it would be more than worth paying and if Daniel Sturridge moves on for the touted price of £20-25m, it certainly shrinks the impact on FSG’s wallet.

The more I think about it, the more I understand what Antoine did.

He scored a goal that made his team win, it also was his goal #100 in La Liga, and instead on focusing on all of that, journos decide to continue with the stupid transfer rumours shit.

He knows that whatever he says, it will be taken out of context (especially with the UCL semis right there). And what’s even the point of replying if they’re not even going to listen to you after saying 400 times how happy you are at Atleti? So not replying was the most appropriate option, instead of saying something nasty or rude, showing how angry you are, you just walk off, leaving the journo alone in front of his camera, showing how stupid his question was.

Well played, Antoine.

If the reports coming out of Turkey are correct, Lucas Leiva will indeed leave Liverpool at the end of the 2016/17 season. Turkish outlet Sabah claim that the Brazilian midfielder-come-defender has agreed a £2.2 million deal with Galatasaray and will arrive at the club ahead of next season. There is however, an air of confusion over whether the veteran will leave on a Bosman or for a small fee as Sabah’s report contradicts James Pearce’s previous claims of Lucas’ deal not expiring until 2018.

With Klavan, Matip and Lovren all ahead of Lucas in the pecking order at the back, midfield opportunities lacking and his legs giving up on him more and more by the game, it only makes sense for Lucas to move on and if he does go in the Summer, I wish him nothing but the best.

Toxic - Cristiano Ronaldo

Toxic. That’s the only word that could describe our relationship. We weren’t good for each other. I couldn’t stop loving him, he was like a drug to me and I was addicted to his smile.

We weren’t all bad though. He knew everything about me and vice versa. He knew how I liked my tea, how much I hated Manchester City and how I cried with happiness in the stands when Manchester United won the Champions League in 2008. I knew how he played football to make his family proud, I knew that he hated thunder and how he liked having his played with.

But we were a secret, a guilty one. I was the girl that everyone thought he left behind in Manchester when he moved to Madrid and he was the mystery guy that my family never knew.

The most important thing in the world to him split us up: his son. Well not his son, the action that produced his son. He cheated on me. Not the nice guy everyone knew.

I hadn’t seen Cristiano since he left and as far as I was concerned I wouldn’t ever. I was adamant that I would never ever forgive him. He had broken my heart and left the club he claimed to love.

It made me sick that the crowds still sang his name as loudly as the first time and that he was the talk of the city when every transfer window rolled around because rumours came out that he was coming back.

“Are you going to the game tonight?” My colleague Dan asked. It was Manchester United and Real Madrid at Old Trafford, the preseason game.

“Nah, I never go to games vs Madrid games remember?”

“Oh yeah, why is that?”

“Don’t like them. Are you?”

“Haven’t got a ticket remember? Luke’s using it.”

“Take mine. I don’t need it.” I said handing Dan the ticket from my back pocket and he hugged tightly.

“I owe you!”

I could hear the chants of glory from Old Trafford from my flat. I had lived here since I was 18 and I loved it. I knew already that Manchester United had beat Real Madrid and that was enough for me.

I leant out of my window and saw the reds running around the street. Songs echoed the streets and I smiled before leaning back inside and closing the window. Oh, how I loved my city.

I looked around the room and took it all in. There were dents on the wall from fights with him when I threw stuff at the wall, stains on the carpet from his clumsiness and I still had the signed shirt from the team that he had gotten me. He was everywhere. I don’t know why I thought about him so much when he’d probably forgotten about me.

Sky Sports filled my flat with sound. They were talking about the game and an interview with Cristiano came on.

“Cristiano how is it to be back in Manchester? Have you missed anything?” The interviewer said.

“It’s amazing, the reception is…. unbelievable. I have missed a lot, and a lot of people. I missed seeing the players, like Wayne because we don’t get to see each other a lot, and Sir Alex, he is like a Father to me and I’m so grateful to him.”

“Anything you’re disappointed with?”

“The result obviously, we didn’t play as good as we normally do but Manchester United played like the amazing club they are. I’m disappointed that I didn’t get to see someone that I thought would be here tonight because I need to talk to them but everything will work out.”

“Nice talking to you Cristiano.”

“You too.”

And the interview was over. He was probably talking about Juniors Mum, whoever and wherever she was.

A knock broke me out of my hate thoughts and I went to answer it. I opened it and there stood Cristiano. My mouth dropped and before he could speak I slammed the door.

What the hell? How did he remember this place? Why was he here? He couldn’t be here.

I peaked out the hole in the door and saw him standing there.

“Y/N, I know you’re in there.” He spoke impatiently.

“Go away.”

“I’ll stand here all night. And that will result in press and paparazzi outside your door. You don’t want that do you?” He spoke. He was right. I didn’t want the press to assume that I was some kind of booty call. I opened the door and pulled him harshly inside.

“What the hell? Why are you here?” I spoke angrily. What right did he have to be here?

“We need to talk.”

“About what? I haven’t seen you for 6 years! You broke my heart and left the club that you loved!” I yelled at him, not caring if the neighbours would hear.

“I left because-” I cut him off.

“Because of the money! You don’t give a damn about the club and you never did! God, do you not know how much you hurt the club? And yet Old Trafford still sings your name, and you don’t deserve it at all.” I kept yelling and he stood there taking it in until I was finished.

“Y/N please calm down. I left because Madrid was my home, not because I don’t love Manchester, or I don’t love you.” He spoke softly, trying to find eye contact.

“Love me? You don’t love me!”

“I do Y/N. I’ve loved you since the day I met you. I’ve tried to forget about you but being back here made me miss you. I had to see you.” Cristiano said, grabbing my chin to look into my eyes. “Please.”

“No.” I said, pulling away from his grip. “That won’t work on me. You’re not the same person.”

“And that’s a bad thing?”

I didn’t have an answer. The old Cristiano was immature, insensitive and still acted like a boy. But that was the Cristiano I fell in love with. The wonky teethed, stupid haired, and loud laughed Cristiano. Not the straight teeth, spiked hair and well trained Cristiano.

“I can’t do this Cris. Not again. I can’t put myself through it. Because I’ve also changed. I’m happy now and a toxic relationship won’t ruin that. So if you don’t mind, could you please leave?”

Latest rumours claim that Liverpool FC have signed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal on a pre-contract agreement but there is no news on a potential fee of yet. There had been numerous reports circling for days linking the Reds with a £35m move for the winger/midfielder and it looks as if they could have hit the nail on the head after Graeme Kelly tweeted yesterday morning “Oxlade Chamberlain lads, feel bad saying it, been told today it’s done. Got no fee info like.”

Would you lot be happy with the Ox as a signing?

anonymous asked:

All these transfer rumours.. The press better debates that a year ago Saul scored one of the beauties in CL-history! I remember it as if it was yesterday, I was almost going insane 😁

They talk about the shit that apparently sells newspapers. It’s very funny if you look at it from a distance. Only this morning 4 of our players have “signed” for other teams. It’s really amusing.

Jurgen Klopp is reportedly close to sealing an £8m deal for 23 year old Hull left back - and long term target - Andrew Robertson. The young Scotsman was widely believed to be Klopp’s second-choice behind Leicester’s Ben Chilwell last Summer but a move never materialised due to Hull’s unwillingness to part with the player. It’s thought that with his age and experience, Klopp sees him as a perfect long term option to strengthen the left back position at the club.

The former-Dundee United man has been in good form since Marco Silva arrived at the relegation battlers, appearing 27 times in the Premier League and contributing to all 3 of Hull’s clean sheets while registering 2 assists and a goal at the other end of the park. The Tigers activated a clause in Robertson’s contract in December, extending his deal for another year but it’s widely regarded that this was simply to protect his value.
Assassins: Full Audio Links & All Reactions to Aaron Tveit's Performances

And Assassins at the Menier Chocolate Factory is officially over! What will I do with my life now? ;_; Well, continue to update the Masterpost until there’s finally nothing to update, for one - so do post your reviews if you haven’t yet and are still thinking of doing it! I’m also really hoping that there’ll be more full audio bootlegs (and maybe more…) made available now that the run is over. There’s still the question of whether a West End transfer will materialise, but though rumours of talks with the Garrick swirled in the early weeks, nothing since has indicated concrete evidence, and Jamie Lloyd has questioned the suitability of the production for a traditional stage, so until further notice, this may be the last we’ve seen of a special thing, and hopefully those among us who have made it out with souvenirs of the experience will be magnanimous now that there’s nothing left to spoil. So if you guys have/see any bootlegs that aren’t linked here that I may put up, please do let me know!

It’s been an amazing run, and even though all I’ve done is maintain this ridiculous Masterpost and doodled too many glamour sketches of Booth, I’ve received so much kindness and had so much fun. Special thanks to rhythmstarfruitcitrus for all your help with the Times articles, onlytryingtogetthrough for hooking me up with an incredible bootleg, amandapandageek and futuristicallyenchantinginternet for coming to my rescue with Booth comparisons when I was rolling around sulking about the lack of them - and imgladtobeonyourteam for everything. Seriously, you’re amazing, and I’ll never be able to think about Assassins and the Menier without thinking of you. :) And THANK YOU to every generous person who put up their bootlegs (really, thank you so much), posted a review, messaged me about reviews, and put notes on the post! It’s been a joy putting something that I do in the secretive cave of my HDD all the time whenever Aaron does a thingTM on the internet for a change.
