Most of these things have come from Kitchen Witchery by Marilyn F. Daniel, but then I have continued to add on as I’ve continued my path. I highly recommend the book if you are pagan or Wiccan.

I am going to leave out colors like gold, silver, and copper. I feel like those are very self explanatory. If they’re not reblog and I’ll type up another detailed list.

Now on to candle shape

Multiple day candles

Seven day candles! These candles are often called vigil or prayer candles. You can go to your local Botanica and buy some or you can order them.

Traditional these candles are prayed over and burned sequentially through out seven days. They are typically one shade, so use the list above to determine what you need it for. These candles are often dressed (anointed), by being removed from the glass and being carved, being drilled into, through the wax, and being stuffed full of herbs. They also sell different sizes of these candles, like an 128 hour candle. If you have a working deity like for example Hecate, you can then buy one of these monstrous candles and dedicate it to her, and save yourself some money. Don’t worry she’ll approve of the usage, but you can also find these candles with the name of the Orisha or a specific condition you wish to bring about. These candles also come as dressed or undress spell candles. You can by a vigil candle call Follow me boy/girl! or Lucky 7/ 7/11 candles, and etc. There are so many out and to truly write about each one deserves a separate post.

Then there is the famous seven or nine knobbed candle. These candles are often dressed and then prayed over for the amount of knobs there are. (If there is nine knobs then you burn a knob a day).

Figurine Candles

Adam and Eve/Lady and Gentleman  candles

These candles are simple suppose to be representative of a person. If you typically make wax poppets, I highly recommend being a lady and gentleman candle or the Adam and Eve candles. The only difference is one group is naked and the other is fully clothed. These are candles used when the spell is suppose to target a person or yourself. Carve your name/persons name on the bottom, and dress the candles. These candles come in a variety of shades, so again use the list above when selecting a candle. Two of these candles (same gender or opposite gender) can be tied together and burned to make two parties fall in love with each other. You can also burn each candle bit by bit to bring two people together, as you move the candles together in a line towards each other.

Bride and Groom candles

These candles are designed to be used in relationship work. Blue can be used to smooth out any relationships, black for cursing and serration work, red for passion and love, pink for fidelity and love, white for marriage, spirituality, and new beginnings for a couple. I do not know when they began to sell these candles, but there are also Bride and Bride candles, and Groom and Groom candles! If you can not find one of these candles either use an Adam/Gentleman with an Eve/Lady, Eve/Lady with an Eve/Lady, or an Adam/Gentleman with an Adam/Gentleman candle for the relationship work. Just burn them side by side. I recommend using the Lady and Gentlemen candles for this purpose.

Lover Candle and Heart Candle

These candles are mainly used in love magick. Lover candles are often used to instill passion, and Heart candles can be used in all forms of magickal love working!

Divorce Figurine Candle

Pretty self explanatory. Used to end a relationship between two parties, but also can be used to end a relationship that you are end. If one party is unwilling to move you can burn a divorce figurine (to remove them physically) and preform a cord cutting (getting rid of their emotional and spiritual connection to you) to get them out of your life. I would like to note, that if you are reading this and are in abusive relationship and think about preforming one of these spell, please reach out to those around you and call the police, and head to your friends house or local woman’s shelter. They have resources to help you deal with the abuse. Magick can help us in so many ways, but we must be the active parties to help ourselves.

Gargoyle Candle

Used for protection and I often use this candle to work with my protective spirit friends. I often have a giggle when I order this candle. I order this candle from Lucky Mojo and they have it labeled with “Gothic Cuteness”. I love that company!

Two tone candles

These candles often have two types of wax, and typically deal with removal of a curse. You will see these sold as double action or reversal. You have red and black (reversal or send back to sender), green and black (removal of a money jinx), and red and black (removal of love jinx).

Master Candle or Master Hand Candle

These are extremely powerful candles. These bring about conditions, and are unforgiving. Make sure to be careful for what you use them for. They come in many different shades, so refer to the list of colors above when choosing one.

I don’t necessarily uses all of these candles, but as the saying in my group goes. Knowledge is a witch’s truest power, because if we understand we can move and bend what stand in our way.

I don’t remember where most of this information as comes from since it is coming out of my spell book. A lot of this information as been passed from mouth to mouth and passed on to me. I hope this helps everyone move forward in their craft or at least I hope it provides a good read!

your energy was so loud my mind went mute , London Feb.’16

Color is a form of non verbal communication. It is not a static energy and its meaning can change from one day to the next with any individual - it all depends on what energy they are expressing at that point in time.

Basic Color Magic

Color Magic is all about representation in your craft. It’s easy to add a little more power to your spellwork by using colors that represent the theme of what you are trying to accomplish. This is one of the most useful kinds of magic for beginning witches because color is found everywhere, unlike obscure herbs or stones, and can be found easily in most homes without having to buy anything new or expensive. You can write you words out in a colored pen, or on colored paper, use ribbons of specific colors in chord magic, or use colored candles. Color magic is great for beginners, and easy to add into spells, even for experienced practicians. All you need to know is which colors to use for which purpose.

First and foremost, White is used for: all purpose, cleansing, purity, peace, balance, concentration, innocence, healing, truth, and spirituality,

Black is used for: grounding, wisdom, learning, protection and safety, reversing or uncrossing and unhexing, abolishing negative energy, transforming, defense, scrying, and pride

Red is used for: passion, vitality, strength, survival, fertility, courage, sexuality, mercy, action, danger, war, conflict, independence, assertiveness, competition, and as a representation of the element fire

Orange is used for: creativity and self expression, intellectual matters, overcoming addiction, justice, joy, business success and ambition, vitality, fun, action and opportunity, and celebration

Green is used for: prosperity, abundance, money, physical and emotional healing, growth, luck, marriage, plant magic, acceptance, weather, counteracting, jealousy, and envy

Light Blue is used for: spirituality, tranquility, peace, and protection

Blue is used for: communication, will power, focus, forgiveness, good fortune, truth, fidelity, patience, domestic harmony, organization, removing bad vibrations, sincerity, and representing the element of water

Indigo is used for: spiritual guidance, psychic ability, upholding dignity, divination, meditation, ambitions, and overcoming depression

Violet is used for: spirituality, connection to higher self, insight, clarity, tension, and representing the divine feminine

Purple is used for: wisdom, influence, spiritual power, driving away evil, changing one’s luck, independence, breaking habits, and representing the element of spirit, soul, or life force

Lavender is used for: knowledge and intuition

Pink is used for: love, compassion, nurturing, femininity, friendship, romance, partnership, spiritual and emotional healing, protection of children and innocents, domestic harmony, self improvement, and maturity

LUSCA

Lusca is a fascinating cryptid. It it said to dwell in the blue holes of the Bahamas. Still and tranquil pools of blue but home to the most sinister of cryptids, Lusca. Some say Lusca is part shark-part octoptus.

Some eye-witnesses say Lusca is around 200ft in length. Although there have been few survivors.

The Island of Andros in the Bahamas is home to many of these blue holes and curious people have tested out a theory that they all connect to each other deep under the sea by using dyes. This means that Lusca may not be in one hole at one time, it can travel.

For me this is one of the most terrifying of cryptids, able the strike from great depths and in complete silence, you never really know when Lusca may be coming for you.

Essential Crystal List
This is by no means a complete list, just what I’ve got information on at the moment

I’ve included the gems (grouped by color) followed by their color variants (if no color variant is mentioned refer to category color) and keywords for their healing/magical uses.

Use this for what you want. It originally came up when I was discussing gemsonas with a friend but I’m also a stonecaster wiccan.

A Little Witchy Guide of Candle Magick

I’ve gotten a few questions about candles and candle magick here and there, so I figured I’d make another Little Witchy Guide! If I have left anything out, please let me know! :)
I really hope this helps you and please feel free to ask me any questions of any kind! :D

Candle magic is an ancient art and it is the most widely used magic practiced today. The candle itself is a very powerful magical tool it contains all the basic elements earth, wind, fire and water, earth is represented in the wax, water the melted wax, the flame fire and the air is the smoke. The colour of the candles is very important as the different colours will bring with it its own energy and power, green for healing, red for empowerment etc. Each of the elements has with it its own single coloured candle, green for earth, yellow for air, blue is for water and red is for fire. The different colours also represent either a yin female or yang male energy, yellow is yin, green is yang, blue is yin and red is yang.

A candle is believed to have its own vibration and can be used in meditation and divination, pink or violet is a calm and soft light where as red is strong and powerful, when a candle is lit its colour is released into the surrounding area which will bring a nice energy into the room. If during your ritual you need a lot of power, light multiple candles. By rubbing oil over a candle before your ritual this will charge the candle with your own personal energy.

Magical tips on candles:

  • It’s always a good idea to clean candles, this will strengthen their power.
  • Candles prefer not to be blown out, but to be put out using a toll or wet fingertips, blowing out the candle may insult the element.
  • It is best to use a different candle for each magical purpose, if you are using a red candle for love and a white one for healing, keep them separate.
  • A white candle is symbolic of purity and can be used in place of any other colour.
  • Any candle can be used in your magic, but beeswax candles are more powerful.
  • Engraving a candle is a good way to bring about your wish and by adding a letter of the magical alphabet you will bring mystery and connection to the ancient art of Wicca. A simple example could be to engrave a heart for love and a dollar sign for wealth in your ritual.
  • If a candle goes out whilst you are practicing doing magic, this is a sign, a message.
  • On your birthday when blowing out the candles you perform an act of candle magic. No one really knows where the idea of placing candles on a birthday cake came from, the main possibility is from the ancient Greeks who would bake round cakes in honour of their Moon goddess Artemis, it is said that the Greeks placed candles around the cake to resemble a glowing Moon.
  • Using your own homemade candles will greatly increase their power, candles are very easy to make, you only need to heat wax, add the wick and leave it to cool down then place it into a fire-safe bowl to burn the rest of the way down.
  • Looking into the flame of a candle is the perfect way to regain or strengthen focus .
  • A simple candle ritual is to sit in a darkened room facing a mirror, place the candle in front of you and look at your reflection, let your eyes relax and after a few moments your face will begin to change. Your reflection will reveal what you looked like in your past lives. This magic ritual can also be done with a friend. Both of you sit in a darkened room with a candle between you, and as you look at each other letting your eyes relax, you will see what your friend looked like in their past lives.
  • Some simple yet powerful candle magic is to write your wish on a piece of paper and fold it in half, light one corner with the candle flame and hold the paper as long as you can before the flame reaches your fingers.
  • To charge your candle you can rub essential oil into it, this will add power to your magic, any oil can be used it’s a personal preference.
  • Each of the twelve astrological star signs has a specific colour, you may wish to burn the candle for your star sign to empower yourself and enhance your strengths, or you may like to burn a coloured candle associated with another zodiac sign to empower yourself with the strengths of that sign. You may decide to use the strength, determination and wisdom of Scorpio the scorpion  before an important business meeting.
