1886: Part 1

[Part 2] [Part 3] [Part 4]

Figured I’d post it one page at a time since it’s easier to see when I split the panels up (and I’m impatient).

I continue to be awful at drawing kids lol. Cal is growing almost at normal human speed- he’s barely 11 years old and actually is starting to look like it- though he’s probably only physically around 7 or 8. 19th century steam powered kids grow so fast now they’re practically popping out of the ground all over the place in the west. This isn’t his first train that’s passed by his place, but it’s going to be an important one.

Ed on the other hand is only about a decade away from his first century and he’s barely changed at all since we last saw him ten years ago, aside from getting dressed up for the occasion and my natural inability to draw consistently. He’s also had really bad eyesight lately if not most of his life due to long winter nights and scrawling out inventory lists- it’s only going to get worse since he will be having more administrative capital duties very soon.

People talk a lot about McCree’s responses to actually having food regularly available when he joins Blackwatch but like, other things to consider for this poor kid

  • His reaction upon seeing he has a BED, like an actual bed, there’s enough blankets on it for him to roll up in it twice and he does.
  • Not only that he gets his own ROOM? Plenty of people in Blackwatch bunk together but Gabe didn’t want that with McCree since he was still a minor when he joined so, perks.
  • McCree is actually allowed to keep his own things now. For a while he had a habit of hiding them in his room, when Gabe finds them he’s terrified they’re gonna get taken and it’s like no… they’re yours…
  • People often have Gabe being strict on him (and I’m sure he would be) but I think after day 1 Gabe would be VERY careful with the language he uses. The first time he shouts at him he can see McCree flinching, steeling himself like he’s about to get punched in the face or worse. He doesn’t yell at McCree anymore (overtime when they trust each other more he uses harsher language when necessary)
  • Gabe almost exhausted with how often McCree asks permission to do ANYTHING but doesn’t get upset because he knows why the kid does it
  • Don’t touch me on the concept of McCree thinking that the moment you become a risk you get left for dead. I hurt thinking about him stuck somewhere on a mission, just waiting to either die or be forced to save himself only for Gabe to save him.
  • Or Gabe’s surprise cause he almost expects the kid to be lazy but after a couple of late mornings the kid’s pushing himself really hard on training, always volunteering for cleaning duties, because he’s worried if he’s not being useful he’ll get kicked out.
  • “You want me to what?” “Take a short vacation kid.” “We…. have those…????”
  • “Kid I told you to take a break.” “I… don’t understand boss what’s a break…”
  • “You know Jesse, when I punished you and told you to polish the guns I didn’t expect you to be in here for an entire day.” “Uh, but, don’t they need to be spotless?” “*sigh* No but uh… you know what? Good job, go get some sleep.”
  • “Jesse…” “Yeah boss?” “Listen, a cleaning assignment doesn’t mean it has to look like new. Will you stop scrubbing the toilet, please?”
  • “Hey boss, made some dinner!” “J-Jesse… why is there so much?” “Well we had it and now we have leftovers to last us a week.” “Jesse…”
  • Or shit let’s talk about WATER rationing cause on route 66 I doubt it was a common thing. Jesse was probably used to running on one jug a day (like two cups at most). Like first day of rly hard training the kid PASSES OUT from dehydration and like. “Jesse, how much water have you had today?” “Uh? I had a little this morning I guess… with coffee…” “…. that’s it?” “Yeah why?” “Oh god.”
  • Gabe has to buy him a special water bottle so Jesse remembers to drink enough during the day.
  • Jesse hoarding sweets for a special occasion and Gabe has to remind him that “I can get you more, easy, if you need it, just eat it god.”
  • Oh god or clothing habits like, “Jesse, I gave you more than one uniform for a reason.” “What do you mean?” “I mean if one gets dirty you can wear a fresh one until laundry day jesus kid go change.”
  • On that note, it’s a two month battle to force Jesse to shower regularly.
  • He still hates showering regularly, to this day, but he does it.
  • Also it takes Gabe aprox. 1 day to figure out that Jesse uses the hat not just for kicks but as a confidence booster (feel stronger with it sort of thing) and allows him to wear it in spite of the uniform.
  • Other members steal it once, once, they never do again.
I need to tell you guys about the time I was almost swept off to another dimension on a ghost train or something

Because honestly it was… a really weird experience tbh

So a few years ago a friend and I were in Belfast, and it was getting towards evening time in the winter so it was already pitch black but still kind of crowded from the Christmas rush. We headed to the train station to get a train home and these trains were fairly regular, like about every thirty minutes or so which is pretty regular for that country, trust me. The trains varied from the newer, nicer ones to the ones that probably hadn’t been updated since the seventies, but they were all relatively decent and no cause for concern.

Or so we thought. We caught our train at the usual platform, but no sooner had we got on did we realise something was kind of off. This train was old, and kind of shabby looking. We made a few jokes and sat down anyway, figuring it was one of the older trains that we’d just never seen before, and things passed relatively normally. The train pulled out of the station, and it was only as we were picking up speed that we realised we were the only ones in the carriage. This was highly unusual, because it was still peak time for people starting to head back, and it being so close to Christmas, the train should have been packed. We couldn’t have got on an out of service trains, because they wouldn’t go to a passenger platform if they weren’t taking passengers, and with all the other trains needing platforms there would be no room for them. They would go to a separate part of the tracks out of the way. We were completely stumped.

We put it down to just weird timing and figured the other carriages probably had people in them, and tried to relax. The train was sort of rickety and unusually loud, and it didn’t exactly sound like what you would expect from a train. I don’t know how to describe it, but there was a kind of odd, distorted quality to the sound of the wheels on the track; it was sort of muffled but also louder than usual at the same time? Kind of like when you have a dream and wake up still hearing the sound from it, and it sounds both quiet because it’s fading from your ears but loud at the same time because it’s in your head. That’s really the only way I can describe it.

We quickly noticed something else that was weird. Several minutes passed, and we didn’t stop at the usual stop. We didn’t even go past it. Several more minutes passed and we absolutely should have stopped at at least two stops. There was nothing, and there was no train guard to check tickets, either. By now, we’re really freaked out. We’re passing through places we recognise, proving we’re on the right route, but we’re not going through any of the right stops and the train isn’t slowing. This probably went on for a good six or seven minutes, even though we should have been out of Belfast by that time. Finally, the train started to slow, and pulled into the first station it should have stopped at, only minutes after leaving the original station. By this point we’re so freaked out that we know we’re getting off the train, so we stand and go and wait by the doors.

The train stops, and the platform outside is empty – again, very unusual for this time. The doors thankfully open and me and my friend hurry out onto the platform, and almost immediately after our feet touch the platform, the train pulls away. No one else got off the train, and as it passes, we see there’s absolutely no one else on the train. No passengers, no guards. The driver would have been at the front so we didn’t get to see if anyone was there or not, but the train was completely empty. We watched it go along the track a short distance, and then the lights simply vanished even though there was nothing there to obstruct them. No trains on other tracks, no tunnels, no curves. That part of the track has great visibility, but the lights just vanished into midair.

We look at one another, and then suddenly we realise we can hear noise, and the platform behind us is packed with people. We just jumped on the next train with a crowd of other people and tried not to think too much about what would have happened if we’d stayed on that first train.

The 15 PLOT POINTS of Story Structure

To all the writers who have ever been told they need to outline their story, and privately thought “Great. But how do you DO that? What exactly does that mean?! Is there a map? WHAT IS THE SPECIFIC DEFINITION OF THE VAGUE WORD ‘OUTLINE’?”

Good news. Stories have structure. Structure that can be learned. And a fantastic place to start learning structure?

Save the Cat: The Last Book on Screenwriting You’ll Ever Need by Blake Snyder. This book gives a simple outline that most stories follow. And as an introduction to story structure, it can’t be beat.

In Save the Cat, 15 plot points are spelled out in something called a beat sheet. During the outlining process, these “beats” or plot points can be used as an armature or skeleton that your story is built upon.

So what are those 15 plot points?

Opening Image: A snapshot of the hero’s problematic ordinary world, right before the story starts and changes everything.

Set-Up: Further establishing that ordinary world and what the hero does every day, impressing upon the audience or reader what’s wrong, and the idea that something needs to change.

Theme Stated:  The truth that the hero will learn by experiencing the story, the statement that will be proven to the audience. But upon first encountering this truth, in this story beat right in the beginning, the hero doesn’t understand or outright refuses to believe it. The theme stated is asking a question, a question which the story will answer.

Catalyst: The ordinary world is shattered. Something unexpected happens, and this event triggers all the conflict and change of the whole story. Life will never be the same after this moment. This is the Call to Adventure.

Debate: But for a moment, the hero won’t be quite sure about answering that call. Leaving behind the ordinary world is difficult – even if the catalyst has come along and disrupted everything – because the ordinary means safety, it means not being challenged, it means avoiding conflict and heartache. Yes, that existence they’re stuck in might be stagnant and unpleasant, but it protects them from facing the intimidating task of growth, of becoming something better.

Break Into 2: And this is when the hero decides to answer the call and cross the threshold of act two, determined to pursue their goal.

B Story: This is when the relationship – which usually carries and proves the theme – starts in earnest.

Fun & Games: This is just what it says: the premise promised a certain type of pure entertainment, and this beat is where we get to experience it fully.

Midpoint: This is either a false victory or a false defeat. Something really really good happens. Or something the exact opposite.

Bad Guys Close In: Forces of opposition and conflict begin to converge on the hero and his goal. Everything begins to fall apart for the hero, the defeats piling up one after another, the main character punching back.

All Is Lost: This is the sequence where absolutely everything falls apart for the hero. The plans fail, the goal is lost, the mentor dies, the villain wins. All is, quite literally, lost.

Dark Night of the Soul: The hero’s bleakest moment is right here. In addition to all of the tangible things that have been lost, hope and the gumption to continue with the story have also vanished. There is usually a hint of death here, of some kind. An actual death, or an emotional or spiritual death.

Break into 3: Ah, but there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. Inspiration occurs, hope is rekindled, courage to pursue the story returns. Usually, this is the moment where the main character learns what they NEED, the truth which will heal them, and allow them to fix their own lives. With this, they are able to snatch victory from defeat.

Finale: And in here, the story goal is pursued once more, but this time from the stronger version of the hero – the version that has learned the theme, and committed to act accordingly.

Closing Image: The opposite of the opening image. This is a snapshot of life after the story, the problems of the ordinary world solved or banished, a new world opening up for the hero. If the opening is the equivalent of “once upon a time” this is saying “And every day after … “

So let’s see how that works! And to see it, let’s look at my favorite short film of all time – Paperman  (because this gave me an excuse to watch it several times and listen to the music while writing it.)

1) Opening Image

We see George, a twenty-something in a sixty-something’s suit and tie, obviously on his way to work, and not looking at all enthused about it. He stares straight ahead, expression bored, lifeless, right on the edge of depressed. Wind from a passing train pushes him slightly, and he lets it, demeanor unchanging.

2) Set-Up

But then a sheet of paper, caught on the wind, hits his shoulder. The paper flies off again, and a young woman appears onscreen, chasing after the paper, as the surprised George watches.

After catching it offscreen, the girl returns, tucking the paper into the stack she carries, smiling slightly. They both face forward, waiting for the train side-by-side, in silence. She’s glancing sideways at him, he’s smiling and fidgeting nervously, but still resolutely facing forward; they’re both aware of each other, seemingly hoping the other will be braver, but neither able to overcome their shyness and the unspoken rules of everyday life.

3) Theme Stated

As a train charges into the station, a paper from George’s stack is snatched by the wind and lands flat on the woman’s face. When he pulls the paper away, she laughs: her lipstick left a perfect kiss mark on the sheet. When George spots it, he laughs too …

but when he opens his eyes, she’s gone. She’s boarded a different train. The kiss-mark paper flaps in the wind as the train begins to move, taking her away. He watches, crestfallen. She glances back. Looks of regret and disappointment are exchanged, both a little wistful. The paper, the symbol of their fleeting memorable meeting, waves goodbye.

Through this little sequence of images, the question of the whole story is asked: Was there a connection between them? Will they find each other again? And on a wider level: What does it take to find love?

Further Set-Up:

And cut to George behind a desk, in a gray office, dark file cabinets towering behind him, clocks on the wall ticking away his life. Miserable again, he stares at the lipsticked paper. A stack of documents slams onto the desk from on high. The grim-faced boss of the office scowls down at him. George frowns at the stack, then at his boss, who stomps away.

4) Catalyst

Breeze pulls the kissed paper off his desk and out the open window. He catches it just in time, breathing a sigh of relief. And then he sees something. The girl! She’s there! She’s right across the street!

5) Debate

He needs to get her attention! He dithers for a moment, then throws the window wide and enthusiastically waves his arms.

An ominous "ahem” from the boss brings him back inside, and back to his desk. But his attention is still on the girl, and the need to get her attention. He folds a paper airplane, stands before the window, poises the airplane to fly … but he glances at his boss’s office before he throws it. Should he?

6) Break Into Act 2

Yes. Yes, he should. He sends the little airplane messenger to bridge the distance between himself and the girl.

7) B Story

What he should have done while waiting for the train, he’s committed to do now. Talk to her. The relationship of the story has started officially.

8) Fun & Games

In this moment, he becomes the “paper man” of the title. He folds and throws paper airplane after paper airplane. The boss shows up, shoves him back and slams his window. George pauses until he’s gone, then just keeps sending airplanes. They sail over the street, but are intercepted or miss their mark every time.

9) Midpoint

He reaches for more paper … and knocks an empty tray off the desk. He’s run out. Except for one paper, the kissed one, the only one he’s held onto. With a determined look, he folds it precisely into an airplane, stands before the window, breathes to steady himself …

And the wind steals the airplane from his hand, sending it spiraling to the street below, George reaching out pointlessly. On top of this defeat, the girl leaves the office.

10) Bad Guys Close In

Immediately, the boss emerges from his lair. The other office workers hurriedly return to their scribbling, hunched to avoid drawing attention. The girl is leaving the building across the street! George turns from the window … and finds the boss looming above him, glowering, delivering another tall pile of meaningless work.

George sinks into his chair, defeated. But something happens as he watches his boss walk away, as he sees the office workers in neat rows; all of them older versions of George, reflections of what he will become … if he doesn’t do something right now.

He runs, sending paper from the perfect stacks flying in his wake.

11) All Is Lost

But when he escapes the building, and attempts to cross the street, cars nearly kill him. And when he finally makes it to the opposite sidewalk, the girl is nowhere in sight. She’s lost again.

And all he manages to find is the little traitorous paper airplane. The paper he’d believed might mean something, might have signified something important and maybe a little magical. Which it obviously never did.

12) Dark Night of the Soul

Angry, he grabs the plane and throws it with all his strength.  He’s lost his job, he’s lost the girl, he’s lost all faith in the magic he’d just started to believe might be real. He stomps towards the train station, returning home.

13) Break Into 3

But fate has other plans. The airplane glides over the city, almost supernaturally graceful and purposeful. It dives between buildings, and lands in the middle of the alley where all the paper planes have collected.

It sits immobile. Then it moves. Moves again. And jumps into flight. The airplane flies over the rest, stirring them into motion, into the air. In a place where not even a breath of wind could reach, there is now a whirlwind of George’s airplanes.

Though the forces of mediocrity tried to keep them apart, something greater has recognized George’s efforts and is going to see things through.

14) Finale

A parade of airplanes follows George down the street.

The leader attaches to his leg. He brushes it off, mad. A flurry of them attach to him, then carry him down the street, unfazed by his fighting.

The leader airplane rockets over the city purposefully, finds the girl, then lures her to follow.

 She chases after.

Somewhere else in the city, George is being pushed wherever the paper airplanes want him to go. We switch back and forth between George and the girl, as the airplanes push him and beckon her.

Until they’re both on different trains, which stop simultaneously, on opposite sides of the platform. The girl gets out. She fiddles with the airplane, like she’s trying to get it to work again. And just then, a breeze brings hundreds of paper planes skittering all around the platform.

 She looks up …

15) Closing Image

And there’s George, covered in paper planes.

He lurches towards Meg, and the airplanes falls away, their work done.

George and Meg face each other, smiling, the barriers of routine and shyness overcome. Exactly what should have happened, exactly what was meant to happen. Putting effort into connection and love prevailed in the end, defeating the allure of life spent in safety and mediocrity. The closing image is the opposite of the opening: he’s not alone, he’s not facing the train leading to his mundane job, he’s not looking miserable and hopeless. He’s facing the girl, his bright and meaningful new future.

So! Those are the 15 plot points. This is a fantastic way to begin learning what story structure is, why it works the way it does, and how to precisely pull it off.

For a more in-depth explanation, I highly recommend picking up a copy of Save the Cat. (It holds a special place in my heart; it was the first screenwriting book I ever read, and started obsessive study of storytelling.)

Tonight, The Focus is on You

Summary: It’s late at night and in the midst of getting yourself a cup of tea you hear Bucky making some mysterious noises in his room.

Warnings: smutty smut, masturbation, fluffish, Sergeant kink, metal hand kink

A/N: I’m sitting at my kitchen table writing this and I can wholeheartedly say that writing has taken over my life and I love it. I’ve had to awkwardly click off this page so many goddamn times because my family keeps walking behind me and guys it’s so uncomfortable.

You picked up your cup of tea and strutted down the hallway. You were wide awake, another nightmare had plagued your dreams and woken you up panting. You hoped the cup of tea in your hand would soothe you, stopping your body from shaking, and help you fall back to sleep.

You slowed down as you passed by each door, not wanting to wake up anyone up. You stopped outside of Bucky’s, tempted to go inside. You wondered if he was awake, if he’d hold you and listen to the details of your nightmare. You nearly dropped your cup when you heard the faintest moan through the door.

Shit!” The word slipped passed Bucky’s lips, it was barely audible through the thick wood keeping you out. You pressed your ear too the door, desperate to hear more. “It feels so good, fuck…” Another moan left him as you heard him drop down onto his mattress.

The Thing About Goku and Chi-Chi

I think people who criticize the GoChi ship look at their relationship and think, ‘I wouldn’t be happy in that relationship, therefor they must not be happy’.  And I understand that thinking, to an extent.

If my husband died and left with no promise of return, I wouldn’t want to live the rest of my life raising my children alone as a widow.  I would’ve probably attempted to move on after a couple of years.  But Chi-Chi didn’t.

If my wife scolded me and told me what to do as often as Chi-Chi, I might not be happy.  I would’ve probably complained or argued with her.  But Goku didn’t.

To the contrary, Goku explicitly said what GoChi fans have known for years - he loves that about Chi-Chi.  That means when Chi-Chi berated him countless times for being irresponsible and for deterring Gohan from his studies, he loved her for it.

Likewise, when Goku unexpectedly came back to Earth seven years after his death, one of the first things Chi-Chi said to him was, “I waited for you.”   That means Chi-Chi didn’t mind waiting for Goku.   She waited, even with no indication she would ever see him again in her lifetime.  If that’s not romantic, I don’t know what is.

The GoChi ship works because of Goku and Chi-Chi.

They know they belong together, without reservation, without regret, without even a moment’s consideration of looking elsewhere.  Their relationship is loyalty, acceptance, and commitment at its finest.

Not all of us are made for that and even fewer seem to fully grasp it, which is why I think a lot of people can’t relate.  But we can sure as hell be impressed by it and I, for one, ship it.

REBLOGS GREATLY APPRECIATED

anonymous asked:

I saw in one of your tags "Autistic Atem". Please do explain to me your headcanon on that.

Well, to me, Atem seems coded as autistic.

He has quite a singular special interest with Duel Monsters, which is a true interest, not just using them as tools to save the world or whatever. We see that in ‘the date episode’, where he genuinely smiles (something we really hadn’t seen up until that point), and goes from being quiet and monosyllabic, to talking at length about the cards, and what they’re useful for (even if Téa doesn’t have much interest in the game herself), and clearly feels a lot more comfortable. He tends to bring pretty much every situation back to duelling, whether it’s a dancing game or some complex emotional philosophy.

Same episode, he clearly looks to Téa to guide them through the day, none of the ideas standing out as his. Atem doesn’t do much overt planning even in duels - they’re usually short term and magical-top-decking based plans, as opposed to some of the strategies of some of the other duelists we see. Heck, Atem’s failure to switch between tasks is basically the plot, isn’t it??

Something that also turns up in his duels is that he doesn’t necessarily notice a larger trap closing around him, focussing more on the details. The reason Bakura’s plans work out (for a given value of ‘work out’) seem in part to be Atem’s failure to notice the wood for the trees.

Atem tends to avoid physical contact (most that occurs focuses only on his hands), which is contrasted with Yugi, who’s quite tactile. He’s quite still and crosses his arms a lot, which gives me a sense of sensory defensiveness and a comfort in that pressure. Jury’s out as to whether to put his sweeping gestures while duelling down as stimming, I’d be tempted to say yes, because unlike other characters it’s quite a change for him - still to animated perhaps reflecting excitement, but at the same time it’s an anime where they basically all do that.

A lot of his talking is quite scripted and repetitious, even by anime standards, or else he remains silent. He often talks a little louder than other characters, and doesn’t vary his tone or facial expression much. He’s also quite literal, and takes things to heart when people talk to him, occasionally seeming not to notice other people’s…state of mind (for lack of a better word) whether implied verbally or non-verbally, for example failing to notice the depth of people’s feeling, or else simply not acting accordingly.

He has a very clear sense of right and wrong, and is empathetic (though that’s often guided by his sense of justice, and doesn’t tend to reach those people whom he has, in a black-and-white way, dismissed). His loyalty is absolute and unwavering, be that for his friends, or his subjects who he died for. His trust in his friends is also equally unwavering.

While we’re verging into word of god canon, Atem’s favourite food is supposed to be falafel, and least favourite supposed to be fish eggs. To me, that’s autistic texture stuff right there.

So while I may sprinkle in things that don’t have any canon basis (nervous toe-walking, talent at learning languages etc.) in my fics, I think there’s enough in canon to read Atem as autistic.

Going through a tunnel of life. [x]

Well…. I’m crying.

No I’m sobbing.

Why?

Well, I’m sobbing because of art.

And the art that caused me to be in this pitiful is none other than ‘Spring Day’ by BTS.

'Spring Day’ is easily my favourite comeback so far.

After all, it is the most honest, sincere and beautiful piece they have released.

The song is just so pure, so heart wrenching. The production is fantastic and their voices….

Many people say that BTS does not have good vocalists because they cannot hit a lot of super high notes. True, if a voice has all the falsettos in the world in is nothing without emotion. And emotion is something that BTS can deliver not to 100 % but rather to an infinite amount. Their voices carry pain, longing and sincerity.

Now why am I mentioning sincerity so many times? Well, an artist without having sincerity is a writer with no pen or paper or any method of writing. Sincerity is essential, it is what captures the attention of the listener because it allows the reader to be able to relate. Even if the listener cannot relate he or she might want to retry to understand.

Spring Day achieves just that. After all, the song is honest and so is BTS. These are emotions all feel. These are the emotions that remind us that we too are humans.

And the music video, of the music video fits so well! The MV creates the feeling that this is not simply an MV, but rather is a coming of age movie, meant to showcase, pain, longing, confusion but also hope.

The shots of the, passing each other, only to at some points get together feel so sad, so painful and interestingly beaver when they are together for me, although there is a lighter feeling it still feels like something is still missing for them. Because they still keep running and they indeed are cut of by the train carrying Jungkook himself.

But at least they are together. At least they no longer have to suffer alone but can share the burdens that they have. They are each others ‘light’

The MV also allows for so much interpretation from the first watch.

One might take them as a random choice. However, the clothes could also mean that they have let their old selves go. They could mean the they feel worthless, like they can be  called ‘dirty’ at any moment and discarded. Or they could mean that they have washed there ‘stains’, their pain.

The scenes at the staircase and at the carousel when they seem unable to find each other can be seen as painful as them losing each other.

Or it could be that they still haven’t found the others yet.

Maybe, there are all in front each other…Maybe they haven’t looked properly.

The train with Kookie that passes BTS could mean that Jungkook is leaving the past behind…

Or he could simply be going forward, not yet knowing of the people he will get to meet, the same people who are in the same compartment as him.

And the shoes that hand from the tree… are they can mean death, the murder of their own selves.

But they could also mean that BTS has exchanged their pain for appreciating and loving themselves. Because they are no longer alone. No, this time they have each other. And so they are letting their old selves die in hopes for a better future them to be born.

And more interpretations can be made. They just depend on how people feel at the moments and what they want to believe. I like the idea that they simply search for each other, but that proves difficult at first cause they do not know exactly whom they are searching for. I like to believe that this MV is a look, a battle for the future. But I also love reading others interpretations.

PS… Who’s ready for Not Today? Not me that’s for sure

Lance absentmindedly calling Keith ‘babe’ though. they’re not even dating. he just does.

“hey babe, you wanna go for some training?”

“hey babe, pass the salt would you?”

“could you - ah, thanks babe.”

Keith is so fucking confused and weirdly pleased and the team thinks its the most hilarious thing that’s happened since the lot of them were chosen as defenders of the galaxy (which is still pretty hilarious to them.)

Lance never even realises he’s doing it. nobody even tells him. he doesn’t know the team is laughing at him. he doesn’t know he’s now the reason why Keith spends all his nights awake staring at the ceiling just thinking an endless stream of ?????

AU Where Hanzo is a dragon shifter, a human who can turn into a dragon. His species are due to being able to shift from Human to Dragons who where smarter and stronger than normal dragons were hunted for sport.

Hanging a (lets call them Wyvrenthrope) Wyvrenthrope’s head is a mark of royalty and power So the kingdoms of the world hunted his species to nigh extinction When Hanzo was a smol babe with his kin in a den, knights came and slaughter his kin and shit but he managed to escape with Genji.

Hanzo, even though he was young, was aware of his kind and what they are and the power the posses but he believes that humans are monsters and nothing but scum for what they done to his species So Hanzo tells Genji that they must live as “Stupid Dragons” Playing dumb if you will Years pass and they succeed in living, playing dumb animals until Genji decides he wants to live as a human, in the beautiful Human world. They have a fight and Genji leaves and Hanzo never sees him again

Anyway years pass Enter McCree, a dragon tamer He is reknowned for his dragon taming abilities and has been able to tame every single dragon he has been tasked with That is until the Royal knights get complaints of a dragon terrorizing a farm out in the borders of the kingdom Hanzo has been stealing cattle from a farm to eat. Thus the guards venture out and subdue the dragon with magic and shit whilst Hanzo is asleep, anyway they have Mercy use some witchy sleep spell that fucks him up and he gets taken back to the kingdom Here they chain him up in a barn and dragon tamers try to tame him But he kills them all.

Weeks past Not a single soul has been able to even approach him without getting burnt to death So Gabriel Reyes (high ranking person) orders it to be put down IF Jesse McCree cant tame it Anyway enter McCree approaching Hanzo with a shield or fire proof serape or something and being submissive and all that jazz. Hanzo tries to kill him but Jesse dodges and he looks into the dragons eyes and he just /knows/ He knows this dragon is smart, perceptive. He knows that the dragon thinks him of a threat so each day he visits the dragon and sits outside of the door talking to the dragon Building up a familiarity, Hanzo, Deprived of any sort of relationships HATES the fact that he is finding solace in the storys and time the repulsive human tells him.

Anyway McCree is finally able to enter the barn without getting killed by Hanzo. So the other people think hes tamed now but NOPE they enter and they get burnt to a CRISP Then McCree realizes that hes special and the dragon somewhat trusts him. Anyway McCree gives him a few dead chickens for lunch one day and to his utter shock he watches as Hanzo plucks the chickens clean of their feathers and /cook/ them Then McCree realizes this Dragon is fucking smart and is knowledgeable. Hes not a fucking dragon and he starts to speak to it and asks if he can understand him and Hanzo doesn’t answer. Hanzo CURSES himself for doing something so out of the ordinary for a “Mindless Dragon”

Anyway Reyes comes along to check on things after a few weeks and he puts Hanzo INSTANTLY on edge and Hanzo rears at him. Reyes, instantly taking dislike to this dragon who doesn’t submit to his gaze then says it simply “McCree you have exactly one week to tame this dragon, otherwise its will be killed and its hide will be used to make me a new jacket” Then Hanzo understands that to live hes going to have to suck it up and play it safe until he has a chance to escape.

Now McCree with tries his best to be gentle with the dragon as he tries to convey his need for him to cooperate with him otherwise he will die. Since McCree doesn’t want the most beautiful and intelligent dragon he has ever seen to be killed. then Hanzo nods to him and puts his head down submissively and McCree reaches out and places his hand on his head, albeit it while terrified.

Now Hanzo starts cooperating with McCree and McCree grow close, Hanzo realizes “This human is special, hes loving and genuinely cares for me”

Hanzo communicates McCree by writing in the dirt or some shit and they just like become inseparable And McCree is so proud of his SUPER INTELLIGENT DRAGON THAT CAN FUCKING TALK TO HIM.

duh duh duh They pass the training and Hanzo is made his dragon few months later after being inseparable they go on a mission and all hell breaks lose shit happens. They go down and fall into a trench or canyon that keeps them hidden in the forest. Hours pass and McCree wakes up from being unconscious to find a semi conscious, hurt human where his dragon should be .McCree then instantly grabs the human by the throat and picks him and and starts chocking him thinking that Hanzo is one of the enemies that /took HIS dragon/ then he sees, idk a ribbon around Hanzos neck that he wrapped around Hanzos neck when he was a dragon as a gift for him to look extra beautiful when they passed training. Then he realizes ”My dragon is a shifter"

Keep in mind, Hanzo is low-key aggressive to every single person who isn’t McCree. He still hates Humans, just not his cute one. Gotta keep up consistency, Hanzo isn’t just gonna forget what it was like watching his kin get slaughtered for sport.

You woke up slowly, the sheets and blankets kicked off in your sleep and tangled in your legs. You felt content as you looked over at your alarm clock, the time being in the late afternoon.  Sleeping in was your passion, you’d stayed up super late the previous night anyway, not too bothered that half the day was gone. You gazed out the one big window in your bedroom, the one that looked out at the bustling city. Snow had fallen last night, dusting over the streets and cars like powdered sugar on pancakes. It didn’t really feel like your birthday, but it wasn’t so bad to wake up on a day as pretty as this one.
