training partners

I love how Jon repeats what Damian said to him in the second panel. Even though he bickers with him and they fight a lot, Jon does listen to what Damian says and takes his words to heart. I love that about their relationship. They act like they don’t get along but in the end, there is this kind of grudging respect between the two of them. It’s great and I honestly can’t wait for them to become real friends.

In the Auror training gym

Harry: *puts a giant load of plates onto the bar*

Ron: ‘’Mate wtf. You tryna kill yourself? You know you’ll never be the strongest here. Sorry mate, but even I’m way stronger than you.’’

Harry: *struggling under the bar* ‘’It’s not you I gotta beat Ron. It’s Malfoy.’’

Draco: *from the other side of the room* ‘’YOU’RE NEVER GONNA BEAT MY BENCH NUMBERS YOU WEAK ASS.’’

Harry: ‘’WEAK ASS?!! MY ASS IS TWO PERFECT SOLID GLOBES OF PERKY IRON!!!’’

Draco: *under his breath* ‘’Damn. Agreed.’’

How They Act When You’re On Your Period (Avengers Preference)

Sorry I haven’t been around lately guys!! I’m hoping to start being more active again! Hope you guys like this and it begins to make up for my months of inactivity! I’ve had this request for a while so I hope y’all like it!

~~~
Tony Stark:
He buys you everything you could want, and more. The first time you ask him to go to the store for you he comes back with every single piece of chocolate he could find at Duane Reade and about ten different boxes of pads and tampons. He also has a new heating pad and your favorite take out. When he’s done putting everything away (he insisted on doing it himself while you tried out the new heating pad), he lays next to you on the couch, pulling you close and kissing the top of your head. You thought he couldn’t get any more perfect until he finally ques up your favorite romcom without you having to say a word.
Steve Rogers:
Steve is sort of embarrassed at first. Back in his day this kind of thing wasn’t exactly talked about, especially not with scrawny ol’ him. So the first time you ask him to go out and grab you a few things he turns so red, you swear you can see his chest flush beneath his white cotton t-shirt. After he stutters for a few seconds and tears start welling in your eyes because you are just way too hormonal right now, Steve runs out of your apartment only to return a few minutes later with your favorite chocolate, your exact brand of tampons/pads, your favorite movie, and a cute teddy bear wearing a captain america outfit. He lays with you for the rest of the day, holding you close and rubbing your stomach as he spoons you on the couch, all forgiven.
Bucky Barnes:
Bucky takes it in stride. Much like Steve, he wasn’t exactly used to talking about this kind of thing, but as soon as you tell him you need him he’s there to do whatever you ask. He makes you breakfast in bed. He runs to the store to get you chocolate. He even goes to the store to get you tampons/pads (making sure he has your preferred brand and type written down). When he takes a while to come back he tells you he had to ask for help from a store employee. And whenever he gets back he spends the rest of the day holding you in his lap as he holds a heating pad to your stomach and whispers how much he loves you into your ear.
Bruce Banner:
He stutters a little in the beginning when you first bring it up. He’s used to this type of thing, but only from a doctor standpoint. He goes and gets you what you need, but he also asks you questions that you would normally only hear from your doctor, making you blush as much as he had earlier. After he agrees never to ask you those questions again, you both go to lay in his room as he brushes his hand through your hair and reads you your favorite book. You spend the rest of the day curled up in one of Bruce’s big knit sweaters, drifting in and out of sleep, with a cup of your favorite tea sitting on the bedside.
Clint Barton:
He invites you up to his little nest. He fills it with your favorite blankets from the Tower (he even gets rid of the old ratty one you hate for the few days you’re up there), and has a stash of your favorite chocolate. He makes sure everyone knows not to bother you for the next few days as you just laze around and curl up together. Clint spends the whole time reading you your favorite books and telling you stories about his more memorable missions. He just wants to make sure you’re comfortable because he knows how tough you are and if this is causing you pain it must be rough.
Pietro Maximoff:
Pietro spends the few days running around town and getting you whatever you want. Chocolate, tampons/pads, your favorite take out, flowers, he even runs out and gets you that new shirt you’ve been eyeing in the H&M window for about a week now. By the time he’s done running around all you want is for him to come and cuddle with you in bed. And that’s exactly what he does, after running around the tower to grab your favorite blankets, junk food, and turn on your favorite movie. Pietro wants you to feel like a princess because that’s exactly what you are to him.
Thor Odinson:
He is so sympathetic. He buries you in a mountain of blankets and curls up with you, holding you close. He let’s you wear his huge sweaters that smell just like him, and he even lets you use his cape like a blanket. He offers to go to the store for you, but you know exactly how that would turn out so instead you ask if he can just make it storm outside, letting you two have the perfect lazy day inside. As the thunder rolls outside the window and the rain patters against the roof, Thor rubs soothing circles on your back as he tells you stories of the nine realms and his adventures back in Asgard.
Loki Laufeyson:
He is kind of confused at first. He asks if this ailment is something he can fix with magic but you vehemently tell him no, not wanting to risk whatever consequences may arise. Eventually Loki realizes all he can do is be there for you so that’s exactly what he does. He lounges around with you all day, making you tea and reciting poetry to you while you lay in bed. He offers to go to the store for you and you instantly regret it when he comes back with adult diapers (”the package looks the same!”). You can’t stay mad though when he holds up a bag of your favorite junk food and let’s you wear his cape for the rest of the day as you two pig out and watch your favorite cheesy romcoms.
Sam Wilson:
Sam stays in bed with you all day long. He holds you close and gives you all the covers. He even blows off Steve when Steve comes around asking for a training partner. He wants to make sure you know that he’s there for you in your time of need and nothing is going to make him leave your side (unless of course you need him to go to the store for you). He’ll even run you a hot bath in the evening with your favorite candle lit on the counter and your favorite spotify playlist humming quietly in the background. The other guys on the team may call him whipped, but he knows how to treat the love of his life right.
Scott Lang:
He likes to joke around but when you give him that look he totally understands. He builds you a giant pillow fort in the living room and wraps you up in your favorite blanket, handing you a warm tea and piling up all of your favorite junk foods in the corner of the fort before turning on your favorite princess movie. He’ll hold you until you doze off before he sneaks out to the store to grab you what you need. He’s back before you wake up and holds you close the rest of the day, cracking jokes every so often. Before you doze off again, he tells you how thankful he is that you’re going to be around when Cassie goes through all this, but you reassure him that he would be fine.
T’Challa:
He spends the few days you’re on your period treating you like a queen. He has servants attending to your every need, and you never even have to change out out of your pj’s. And while he may have to attend to a few meetings, he makes sure that he’s able to be with you as much as possible. When the meetings are over the phone he lets you sit in his office with him, setting you in his lap and rubbing his hands up and down your back. When he’s not busy with meetings or training, T’Challa spends the day in bed with you, holding you close and keeping you warm. He also brings you cute little gifts like flowers he picked himself from the jungle, beautiful jewelry made of the stones found in the Wakandan mines, and he even brings you a kitten to keep you company when he has to be away.
anonymous asked:
Are groin attacks on men actually the automatic off-switch we see in movies?
No.
They aren’t universal, and you can, in fact, groin strike a woman to similar effect. What a groin strike is actually targeting is the nerve endings in that region of the body, the very same nerve endings that cause humans to experience sexual pleasure. It hurts a whole hell of a lot, it makes you sick to your stomach, and you bowl over to protect yourself. Nailing a woman with a groin strike is more difficult than a man because the area is smaller and it’s more difficult to hit. It can happen though, it’s happened to me in training with a partner.
Anyone with a strong pain tolerance is going to be resistant to groin strikes, just like with anything else. Some people are more sensitive than others. Other people will recover quicker than others. The rarest find won’t feel it at all, and they’re out there.
And, of course, if you’re opponent is wearing a cup then the groin strike goes right out. That’s why you wear cups when you’re sparring, so it doesn’t hurt when you get hit in the groin. So, if they’re armored, you’re out of luck.
It’s a pretty good stunner if you can land it and they’re not prepared for it, but it’s not a finishing move. When you see groin strikes in martial arts or just as self-defense, they’re part of what we call “combinations” which is a series of strikes performed one after the other. You use the groin strike to stun your attacker, and then follow up while they’re distracted by pain.
So, say you want to use a knee strike to the groin. You’ll grab them and strike the groin, then you grab their head and slam it into your knee again. You may hit them several more times after that if they don’t go down, but the groin strike is the opener or secondary to more effective moves that would be difficult to pull off if they weren’t distracted by pain or were… you know, upright.
The general populace often has a hard time grasping the concept of techniques feeding into each other. “I do this, so I can get over there, to do that”.
Groin strikes are conventional wisdom. Enough people have hit boys in the groin and see them bowl over to know that it’s somewhat effective, and enough boys have been hit in the groin to know it hurts.
You know what else hurts?
Your shin.
Getting hit in the shin hurts a whole hell of a lot too. It’s actually easier hit as it’s a much larger target and you don’t need to be nearly as close.
Anywhere on your body where the bone is near to the surface/isn’t protected by muscle, is direct access to your nervous system and works about as well as a groin shot. So, kick ‘em in the shin. Boxing the ears is another good one, you rattle the inner ear and cause them to lose their sense of equilibrium which makes them dizzy and they… stumble. Hit them in the nose. Their eyes will water, their nose will swell, both of which impact their ability to see.
You can, in fact, chain these together too.
Kick them in the shin. Box their ears. As their head comes forward, hit them in the nose or punch them in the throat. Then, if they’re still coming toward you or you’ve grabbed them by the shoulder or the head, knee them in the groin.
There aren’t a lot of one hit wonders when it comes to fighting, and if you did get one then you’re damn lucky. There is no 100%, no sure shot, no total shut down, no universal technique that will give you perfect accuracy on every human you will ever meet.
The problem with groin strikes in movies is that they’re actually a joke about manhood and dominance. Sometimes, it’s used intentionally and, sometimes, it’s not, but it doesn’t go much further than, “ha, ha, she hit him in the peen” and he goes down because the big, tough guy was really weak after all. It’s become that “Tough Girl Move” and is supposed to convey she’s tough, and brave, and everything that comes with a poorly thought out action girl.
In the movies, the groin shot is about dominance and asserting superiority. Whether it’s a woman doing it to a man, or a man doing it to another man (but it’s usually a woman), that’s what it’s normally about. It’s just a co-opting of the Alpha Male Bullshit Package for an Empowering Moment. It’s telling that these moments revolve entirely around the physical embodiment of manhood, because it’s often treated as the only weakness a man possesses. Given the groin shot is often paired with the threat of sexual assault, you can see all threads weaving themselves together for the underlying themes. The man is brought down by his *ahem* desires, the woman flees, and the scene is still all about sex.
So, you know, fun.
anonymous asked:
Is it possible to get into how would someone train if they were to choose a staff as a weapon? In my story, I have a young girl that wants to learn basic self defense and staff training sounds plausible enough, I don't want her to be an absolute badass and she's just learning in case of an emergency. I hope this makes sense ):
You can gain sufficient skill with the staff to use it as a self-defense weapon within a few weeks. You won’t master it in a month, but it’s conceivable to fight with it. It is one of the fastest, simplest, and easiest weapons to learn. The most important thing she’ll need to remember to do is maintain her body’s conditioning (exercise) and keep her basic skills sharp (practice). Self-defense doesn’t work as a one off training and forget, it’s a situation where you either use it or lose it.
The holistic martial arts discipline where you progress through hand to hand to weapons combat is a mostly Eastern tradition in martial arts, this includes India. European tradition isn’t anywhere near as structured, you can start with the staff. Unlike other weapon types, staff training often begins with a real wooden staff, and if we’re going with European tradition then the weapon will most likely be made out of oak. Oak is heavy, heavy staves hurt when they hit you… a lot. You will get hit in training… a lot. In weapon’s training with a partner, we pay for our mistakes with bruises. Getting past the fear of being hit is one of the major components of this training type. Your partner’s weapon can easily slip, slide down the shaft, and hit your unprotected fingers. Learning how to stop that from happening is part of the training.
This is the truth of every weapon type in training: the weapon will punish you when you make mistakes with it. The more dangerous the weapon, the more detrimental the initial injuries.
The staff starts with deep bruises and, if you’re truly unlucky, broken bones (especially broken fingers). Broken collarbones are not outside the range of unusual. This is nothing compared to a weapon like the three sectioned staff where even beginner’s training can net you a concussion.
Unironically, the post I made recently about Nine Steps for Training Techniques applies to how we go about training on weapons. The staff has a straightforward basic move set, the strikes form a cross-shaped pattern across the body high (head) low (thigh) to low (thigh) high (head), then thrust to stomach, bring down on top of head or low the other way into the groin. When partnered with another human being, you practice these strikes together with one person performing the strikes and the other the blocks. The blocks for the staff are matching to the cross-shaped pattern, high low to low high, then bring the staff up horizontal to catch the strike to the top of the head, and a half step back from the thrust to knock it away with the tip of the staff. You can also bring the staff across the body to strike either side of the rib cage. A practiced staff user can shift between all these strikes without the pattern.
The staff is sized to the wielder, usually coming up to around their forehead rather than the top of the head. Your hands on the staff act like a fulcrum, redirecting as you go. You want your hands set wide enough to keep a solid, balanced, and controlled grip on the weapon while also providing you with the freedom to go at speed. This is difficult because your hands are going to want to naturally come together as you practice
The most important thing to remember about the staff is that both ends are weapons. Unless you’re gripping it by it’s bottom, one end is always going to be moving behind you. Most common staff injury when training is bruised knuckles. You can also break your fingers. When sparring with a heavy staff, you will be wearing pads and you will still get bruises. Those bruises may be deep, and sometimes go all the way down to the bone.
Never forget, your weapon senses your weakness. Soft defense leads to debilitating injury, even just in practice. You must be firm, fierce, focused, and unafraid of the pain you will inevitably receive. Learn to be stalwart. (Yes, this is a learned attitude and not one we start with.)
A weapon is never safe.
After practice, your arms will be tired due not just to moving but being on the receiving end of impact when the staves clash. There is no way to avoid this, you simply build resistance via experience. Learning how to keep hold of your staff in the middle of conflict that is trying to knock the weapon from them with each hit made by you or your enemy is necessary. Vibration will travel down the length of the staff to your hands, and that’s what you need to worry about wearing your arms out rather than weight.
Staves can and do break or fracture bones on impact when moving at speed, arms, legs, ribs, heads, feet, etc. They are bludgeoning weapons. When moving at speed in a practice bout, this can happen to you especially if you’re not wearing protection. (Wear protection.) This is not a gentle weapon or a soft one. It is useful too because of its range advantage over shorter weapons, but keep in mind that range means range. The closer the enemy comes, the less useful the staff gets. Your character is responsible for maintaining the fight range at which her weapon is useful. She’s going to need to get creative if the fight starts right next to her.
She’s gonna get her staff knocked out of her hands by whoever is instructing her the first few times because holding onto it does hurt a lot more than we anticipate when we start practicing defense. They’re going to teach her how to defend first though. You learn techniques then ratchet up at a steady pace to ferret out holes in defense.
It is natural for her to be nervous or even afraid of the weapon in the beginning, though she’ll overcome that. No one likes pain, and pain is an unavoidable side effect of weapon’s training. Hand to hand works it’s way up to basic injuries, but weapon’s will nail you coming and going. We’ll hit ourselves, our partner will hit us, we’ll make mistakes, and we pay for them. Usually, it’s just bruises.
There are, of course, stances and footwork associated with staff training but that’s ironically more complex than it needs to get right now.
For endurance training with the staff, outdoors on a variety of terrain is helpful. This includes beaches, on uneven terrain, in forests, in fields, in rivers, etc. All these will help the student learn to navigate different terrain and learn the detriments of fighting in various environments. They also build strength. Sand and water will both sap away strength due to the focus required to maintain balance on soft surfaces and water’s resistance/drag when it comes to movement. They may also teach her how to fight on stairs.
Staff training will provide her with the base necessary to move on to polearms like spears or even some swords if she wants to in the future. Staves with their heads and butts shod in iron as a defense against blades (and extra damage) were also common.
Due to this being self-defense, the focus of her training is going to be on using her staff to create escape opportunities rather than engaging in prolonged conflict.
For more on this topic, you can check out our staff training tag.
Unimpressed by your less-than-convincing response, Natasha caught your eye and raised an eyebrow. She knew.
Huffing out a frustrated sigh, you conceded. “I can’t do that.”
“Why not?”
A snort of laughter escaped you, “Why? Because he’s Steve Rogers! Captain Freaking America. It’s not gonna happen.”
She shrugged, “You never know unless you try.”
A/N: This one hurt. Once again, I drew from my own personal experiences, so it took a lot out of me to write. I hope you enjoy it? I’m considering an epilogue, so let me know if that is of interest! Please let me know your thoughts! Special thanks to @buckyywiththegoodhair for helping edit. Bless you!
The next morning after a maximum of 3 hours sleep, you dabbed on some concealer to hide bags under your eyes and got dressed. Hopefully you could blame your ‘illness’ on not looking your best. Once you arrived, it seemed you didn’t have to worry. Apparently Nat was a little too good at telling the story that you’d been sick. When you walked into work, everyone was shocked that you were “up and around” so soon. It was like you had the plague or something.
Assuring everyone you were fine, the office was back to business as usual. However, partway through your first day back, a mission report update arrived from Steve. Upon seeing the email, your breath quickened with a twist of your still-tender heart. You sought refuge in the bathroom until the pain in your chest subsided and tears dried.
The rest of your week passed without incident, the only unusual being your lack of visiting the gym. Even without Steve there, too many memories lingered. You kept yourself distracted by catching up on work and spending time with the other Avengers. That weekend, you actually made an effort to go out with friends and socialize. The pain in your chest still lingered, but less sharply than before.
So, this isn't exactly a writing question, but I'm not sure where else to ask. Is it at all possible for someone with chronic wrist pain, such that they can't take impacts on their hands for any significant length of time, to still learn a martial art? And if so, what martial arts would be best, like ones that focus more on kicks or grappling?
There are students with all sorts of disabilities who are training right now. So, don’t let that stop you.
I’ve worked with martial artists who had a variety of health issues, from those recovering from cancer to eighty year olds training for their black belts. I know of students in other programs ranging from blindness to deafness to only having one arm. Lots of kids with glasses train, and take their glasses off for sparring. One of my training partners for my third degree test was a woman who’d recently recovered from a stroke and had specific health concerns we worked around. There was a certain pace she needed to train at, which was fine. Master Reyes was upfront about it with me when he assigned me to work with her, and she was upfront about it with me. She passed her test by the way.
It is very common in martial arts schools to have students who have specific health concerns, chronic pain, and injuries. It is part of the job of the instructors at these schools to develop work arounds together with their students.  Whether the instructor needs to keep an eye on the time because one of the kids you’re training needs to take their meds during your class. These are all issues that can be worked out. (Consider the number of geriatric students who come in on the regular. There are quite a few.)
As martial arts instructors, we are legally obligated to care for our students when they’re on our floor. (And we care about them because they’re family.) You’ll find plenty of teachers who also have or have had injuries whether they’re permanent or not. One of my master’s had a blown out knee from a gymnastics injury, he was thirty years old and he limped around the floor.
People of all ages, all dispositions, and all backgrounds come through a martial arts studio’s door. Sometimes, they’re people with chronic pain, sometimes they have heart issues, sometimes they’re diabetics.
A healthy body is not a necessary requirement for recreation the same way it is in the military or the police. In a healthy martial arts school, you will find instructors who are more than happy to work with you and find solutions that fit your needs. Unless you take a boxing-type martial art like Kickboxing or Muay Thai (and even then), you will be hitting air 90% of the time.
It’ll take time to work out your limits and to find alternative options. However, it will be up to you find those limits. Stay in touch with your doctor. Over time you will learn how to discern between good pain and bad pain, and you’ll be better able to moderate what you can do and how long your participate. It’ll also be up to you to keep your instructor updated.
As for which martial art would work best, I’d actually advise you to start with what you want to be learning (90% of success begins with interest) and work your way around to finding a studio in your area who’d be willing to make the accommodations you need. Those are the people you want to be entrusting your safety to. Those men and women are the good beans. Work with the people who want to work with you towards your success.
When you have a disability or chronic pain here’s what you do when looking for a school:
1) Start with a martial art that interests you.
There’s absolutely no reason why your disability or injury should stand in the way of you learning what you want. I guarantee there is a school out there full of martial arts masters who’ll become a second family to you. So, you should start with what you want. Want to fight like a ninja turtle? (I did when I was five, okay.) Run over to imdb.com or somewhere similar to figure out what the martial arts used in the movie were. Once you have that in hand, go to the internet and look up videos on the Tube. Want to study that? Great! To Google!
2) Do research over what is available in your area.
This is the tough part, your choices are going to be limited based on what’s available and feasible to reach. You may not find what you want available in your area. Google for the local martial arts schools in your area (this goes faster once you have a beat on martial arts you want), and see what comes up. Find one you like? Read the reviews, and make sure to look them up on other review sites like Yelp. Make a list of several (yes, several) you’d be interested in. Always have backups in case the first doesn’t work out. You’re probably going to want family schools, but go with what you want. You’re a customer, and if you sign up, you are going to paying them to provide you with a service. Keep that in mind.
3) Make the call
Once you have the schools and the numbers, give them a call. Most martial arts schools have someone working the desk and reception while the instructors teach. This is the person who makes the appointments and handles the gear.
Ask them if it’d be possible to visit the school, make an appointment, and look in on a class. (You don’t need to be upfront about your needs yet.) This is a common practice for students scouting out schools, so no need to be shy. I recommend looking in on an adult class as it’ll be easier to talk to those students after.
Remember, this is a business so they’re going to try to sell you. If you get easily flustered remember to write up and bring a list of questions to ask that you wrote up beforehand.
4) Look in on a class
Before you sign up for the first lesson, look in on a class first. Half the success of any martial arts program is going to be how well you sync with the people who are going to teach you. Watching a class lets you scout out an instructor’s teaching style and talk to the students without pressure. Come a little early so you can watch the students file in, how they interact with each other, and the warm ups.
Think about it like dating. You want a match who works for you.
The general feel and attitude of a good school is one that is relaxed. The teacher is in good spirits, humble, and explains easily. The students look happy when they’re on the floor, they’re in a good mood, social with each other both before and after class, and everyone is generally happy. They’re focused when they’re on the floor. Students who are happy with their school will try to sell you on it if you ask. They’re enthusiastic! You are looking for a warm, friendly, relaxed, and happy environment.
Trust me, you’ll know it when you see it.
You don’t want to be in a school that’s controlling, where the instructor is uptight, angry, or yells at their students. If they’re prideful or act like the source of all wisdom, then you don’t want to be there. You don’t want a place where the students seem unhappy. If you walk into a place like this, leave. You don’t have to bring up your health issues. Know it’s not for you. Look elsewhere.
5) Talk to the instructor
Whoever you talk with on the phone will probably have told the school’s owner or instructor that you’ll be there, so don’t be surprised if they seek out out either before or after the class. If they don’t and you like what you see, introduce yourself. Express your interest and ask if you can set up an appointment (either now if you like it) or at a later date where you can talk more. Let the instructor sell you on their school.
You can either bring up your health issues at this point, or later when you talk to them again. See what they say. It is important to be upfront about it because whoever you will be training with values your health and safety. That is part of their job. Do not forget it.
You will, probably, find plenty of instructors who’ve worked with students that had health issues before. They’re either going to say thanks but no thanks, (if that’s the case, look elsewhere, you want the masters who want you) or they’re going to ask you some questions about your specific needs.
If you decide you like this person and their school, make an appointment to take the first beginner’s lesson. (This is usually free! Sometimes, you get a free gi too! Heyo!)
6) Take the First Lesson
What it says on the tin. They may ask you about your needs again, if they don’t remember or don’t bring it up then remind them. Anyway, take the lesson, see how you feel.
Like it? Like the price package? Yay! Sign up.
Don’t like it? Repeat steps 2-6 with another school.
7) Double Check With Your Doctor (Bonus, Important Step)
I’d double check your needs and discuss this course with your doctor in step 2, but do it again anyway. The school may ask for your medical documentation anyway, and you will, of course, need to sign a waiver. Have a list of everything that might possibly go wrong and what the signs are when your wrists have had too much. Give it to your new instructors, they will put it in your file and reference back to it over your time spent training with them.
8) Start Taking Classes
You’ve made it to Step 8. The last step. The big kahuna. Enjoy your new martial arts life. Remember to keep working to build the bond of trust between you and your teacher. Don’t be afraid to bring up your needs and remind them if they forget.
When I was a little bean, I broke my leg. During the latter half of my recovery after I finally got off the crutches, I still had specific activities I couldn’t engage in. I went back to my martial arts school, and started training again. I went from not being able to run (so I had to do other exercises when everyone else did) to not being able to jump (No jumping till June) until I was finally free. (”You can’t jump yet, right?” “No, busabumnim! I can jump today! I can jump!”) My instructors were with me every step of the way, easing me (twelve year old bean) back into it so I could test for my black belt the next year. It was a slow process, but it happened.
In the right school where you feel comfortable and trust your teachers, it’ll be the same for you. There’ll be things you can do, and things you can only do a little, and maybe things you can’t do at all. That’s not a mark against you.
The most important thing here is honesty. Your limitations are not insurmountable. A good school with good teachers will figure out how to work around them, and if you sign on that is what you will be paying them to do.
Now:
To my martial arts followers, please leave enthusiastic recommendations of your school and your master in the reblogs or comments so our Anon friend here gets an example of what to look for in their search.
Thank you!
Pairing: Bucky x Reader
Summary: It’s been an unusually mundane week at the Avengers Tower, so Bucky comes up with an idea
Word Count: 1487
Warnings: Literally nothing. Like, your grandma would probably approve. (I did say ‘ass’ once tho. Sorry. Kids these days.)
A/N: This is actually the first fic I ever wrote… it’s just been sitting in my drafts for the past 6 months cos I was too chicken to post it, until now. It’s not groundbreaking or anything, but it makes me giggle and I figured spring is the perfect time to spread cheer. As always, feedback is most welcome
It had been an exhausting week for everyone, though not in the way you were used to. Normally, rough weeks meant one of two things. Either a mission had gone south and every fibre of your being was aching from physical and mental stress, or the mission was a success despite almost getting your ass handed to you several times. This week, your fatigue came from neither of those things.
