I freaking love this world and you’ve been so cool about people writing stuff I couldn’t resist. Let me just go ahead and preface this with I am not a writer (I’m a biologist as you’ll see below) so sorry in advance for amateur writing. ………………
If there is one thing a field biologist needs to know about it’s how to get Official Permission to do shit. That’s something people don’t realize about the job, just how goddamned much of it is convincing people to tolerate you doing things on their land that they neither understand nor care about.
Before you even start the paperwork to go into the field you’ll need contacts, people on the inside who can let you know whose permission you absolutely must have and what sort of deals you’ll have to make to get it. These aren’t tourist visas after all and it can take months to convince customs that you really do have the proper authorization to carry enough opioids to immobilize a dozen polar bears.
There’s permission to pass the border, separate permissions for all your gear and supplies to go with you. Still more authorization for where you will go and precisely what you plan on doing once you get there.
And once you’ve got all the permissions and documentation needed to get in, you’ll need separate even more vital ones to get back out. Deals for you to go home, deals to get back the things you brought with you, and deals to keep everything you’ve gained.
So when you think about it what I’m planning is not all that different than what I’d be doing if I just stayed here and graduated. Except for a few items even most of the gear is the same, although I’ve lined my bags with steel mesh and the trail flagging I’ve packed hurts if you look at for too long.
None of this would have mattered of course if I had any intention to study Them, that would have been a one way ticket to crushing normality, but the Gentry do not live alone in that other place and even if it costs everything I’ll be damned if I miss the chance to study actual motherfucking dragons.
A/N: I thought it
would be appropriate to write this one today, since I’m feeling like crap
today, Geez, the human body is so fragile. Anywho’s, this is another Anon
Request. Thank you loves!
Anon Request—“Hi! I
recently stumbled across your writing, and MY GOD is it awesome. I was
wondering if you could do a fix with Cas x reader ,where the reader is sick,
and the Winchester bros are teasing their little sister figure for being dramatic
about it, and Cas gets kinda protective, but it’s funny and cute and fluffy?
Sorry if this is really specific. Love ya! <3”

Womp. Womp. Womp.
Your head pounded as you listened to Sam and Dean chatter across
the map room table. You closed your eyes as you tried to drown out the
throbbing pain their obnoxious voices caused.
“So, Y/N, did you find anything yet?” Dean’s voice warped in
your ears as he leaned towards you. “Helloooo? Earth to Y/N?”
“Y/N, you look like Hell,” Sam commented, making a face as he
studied your pale form.
Got bit by a dog today at mile 9 of what was supposed to be a 14 mile run. I had passed a couple walking 2 lhasa apso (?) type dogs in the same direction. Good mornings were exchanged and I passed them. Then, once my back was completely turned, one of them launched himself and bit my upper back thigh.
Luckily I had long tights on and it didn’t break the skin, although I was surprised by how much it hurt. I was only a mile from my car so I decided to call it a day.
It’s not bad but I’m not happy about it. This wasn’t that dog’s first bite, I’m sure of that. The owner was concerned about me but said nothing like- I can’t believe it! or My dog has never done anything like that before!
I don’t know what you do if you have a dog that bites. No one wants to put their dog down. I have a dog that pees in the house on occasion no matter how hard I try, but what am I supposed to do? Kill him? What do you do if your dog bites but you can’t get him to stop? I don’t know but I would say not taking him on a trail packed with runners, walkers and bikers would be a good move.
Well, it’s definitely no secret that my Camber and I have become quite the pair. My boyfriend and I have even started making a tiny course to practice on in our backyard AND I signed up for a Women’s Downhill Camp that’s happening in July. I pretty much jumped in with both feet to say the least. I’m still SO incredibly new, but very set on learning.
This past weekend we took a trip to Destin for a little beach vacation and while we were there we thought we would visit a local MTB trail. We reached out for suggestions on social media, found the address of a trail near by, packed up our stuff, and headed out. The trail head had no map of the trail system, but plenty of bear warnings. As we’re riding along I’m thinking to myself how flat it is, no one would need anything more than a CX bike out here, easiest trail ever, so and so on and then BAM I over correct and throw myself into a tree. Just goes to show you that you can literally fall anywhere so use this as my friendly reminder to wear a helmet while riding. Regardless of the tiny scratches (and slightly hurt ego) I ended up with, we had fun, explored through the path of palm trees, admired the crazy amount of white moss, and of course stopped to take photos.
We finished the ride, stopped for acai bowls, and ended our day playing in the ocean while enjoying Floridas white sandy beaches. Bikes, food, and the beach - I’d say this is one of my favorite ways to spend a day.
trying to build my ALA schedule and there’s so much cool stuff at the same time… including quite a bit about federal advocacy and libraries as progressive spaces, which I will definitely be hitting hard. Also a few that have free lunches, which I will also be hitting hard
