toward eternity

the post u made about bitty using jack's uber is old but I was thinking like,,, jack would sooner make an hour and a half round trip to pick bitty up than make him take public transit,,bitty taking a train is simply unrealistic considering who jack is as a person

oh, man. I feel where you’re coming from on this, anon, I really do. But consider: Jack has even less flexibility in his schedule than Bitty does. For example, if Jack gets home from practice at 5pm, he could hop in his truck and see Bitty at 5:45.

OR, Bitty could get there on his own and already be at Jack’s apartment making food when Jack gets home at 5:00. So perhaps it’s more of a tug-of-war between Bitty’s nature and Jack’s nature.

LGBTQ Traffic Light People Cross Street Toward Eternal Bliss, Presumably

are these the cutest traffic lights in the world? i mean, probably. they will be installed through August to signify Stockholm Pride.

“We want to show that we’re an LGBT-friendly city – and show that even in tough traffic! We stand for one Stockholm for all,” the city’s deputy mayor and head of Stockholm’s traffic division Daniel Helldén explained to The Local.

Gods of Hour of Devastation in D&D: The Scarab God

A Stolen God. When Nicol Bolas first arrived on Amonkhet, his victory over the gods was swift and brutal. With Amonkhet claimed as his own, Bolas re-purposed the gods to do his bidding. While he kept 5 in Naktamun to run the society he had rebuilt, the other three were kept out of the city in preparation for his return. The Scarab God was one of these three stolen gods, which Nicol Bolas corrupted and reshaped into the builder of his army.

Eternal Arbiter. The Scarab God is the master of the Eternals. When a dead victor of the trials passes through the Gate to the Afterlife, their body ends its journey at the necropolis. It is here that the Scarab God embalms the bodies of the worthy dead with lazotep. Warriors without equal, these lazotep Eternals return from the dead with all the skills they used to earn their victory in the trials, but with a body far more powerful than the one they died with.

The Final Hours. “When all doubts have melted away, the worthy will meet the Hour of Eternity and earn a place at the God-Pharaoh’s side.” As the protection of Naktamun fell, gods were slain, and the deserts rushed into the city, the Hour of Eternity began. The Scarab God, last to emerge, led the Eternals towards Naktamun. The undead legion entered the crumbling city, and the slaughter began.

My main focus for statting-up the Scarab god was to give it an ability to produce the Eternals that it commands. The Eternalize action took base structure from spells like Animate Dead and Create Undead, with the core exception that the creature needed to retain its abilities it had in life, in the same manner that the Eternals keep the abilities that earned them their worthy deaths in the trials. To do so, I used the Wight stats as a template, the process of creating an eternal irons out weakness by raising ability scores,

And thus end the prophesied hours and the return of the stolen gods. You can find rules for The Scorpion God here, and The Locust God here. I hope you enjoyed this weekend’s bonus post, and that you get a great use out of these creatures in your own games, be they set on Amonkhet or otherwise!

17776 intermission reaction

Well that’s a very…. normative, homogenizing ending for the human race.

Sure, people would definitely go back to manufactured problems, and I totally agree that humans are creatures of play. But we all have different play styles! That’s why there’s so many different genres of video games in our time, so many weird forms of football in theirs. Different people want to deal with different kinds of problems. So by nature, all the new tech would have to stay around to accommodate the people who wanted to use them to avoid whichever problems grate too much on them to stand for an eternity. (I mean really: tell me there isn’t at least one small (or sometimes large) daily grievance you have that would turn eternity into hell if you had to keep dealing with it. A small grievance exactly like the smell of cigarettes on the bus, or wait times during commute.)

Also, I am far too transhumanist to think people wouldn’t radically change in form too. Like, there are definitely people out there who would decide to change themselves into furries given future tech, or would literally grow themselves a third arm (have y’all seen the post about the extra thumb an artist made going around?), changing themselves radically just because they could, and I don’t think all of them would change back after having tried it.

And as for grandparents staying the same: that’s in part because constant stimuli leads to constant state. If all you see are the same few people in your little town, staying in your same house and same job, then of course you won’t change. But people *are* changing places, meeting new people, encountering new mindsets. People change reactively, in response to newness: New ideas, new people, new places, new cultures. (Speaking of, what *about* all the other countries, Ten?) But think: Nancy was talking about how if these people met 1 new person every week, they’d have met what is actually less than a million people. Now I don’t know for sure how many humans are left in this future, but I’m pretty sure that’s not even half of them. There’s still a ton of new mindsets to encounter, people to change in reaction to.

I’ve got to say, I am all here for boredom being man’s final and greatest enemy. But the cure for boredom is creativity, not playing the same game for 800 years. People would definitely settle into their patterns after a while, settle into what might be considered their true selves, the furniture of their world set up just the way they like it. But that setup would be radically different from person to person.

You couldn’t sleep that night. Not that you did on a normal basis. The only means of telling whether the sun had risen or fallen was the fist-sized vent in the ceiling of the massive, garage-like room you resided in.

So Chanyeol is his name.

Not that you had any interest in identifying your captor, however, he was a vague, violence-ridden mystery to you. Being from another realm, you had the ability to feel a person’s intentions and emotions after interacting with them rather strongly. A type of emotional radar. Chanyeol, however, was a different story. You were bombarded with a blinding overdose of sensations every time you tried to figure him out, and it frustrated you beyond belief.

So you sat there, hugging your knees on the creaky scaffold of a bed, compromising the perfect plan of escape.

I just have to get these weak-minded people to trust me.

After countless hours left in your own thoughts, you drifted into a tentative state of exhaustion.

Dawn eventually came, and your eyes were met with a burning sensation due to your resistance of sleep. You swung your legs around, earning a milk squeak from the rust-covered bed, and dusted off your white smock. The sound of a door unlocking jerked your attention to the main door of Chanyeol’s room. The cocky vampire himself appeared not long after the lock was broken and sauntered into the room, wearing a simple gray cargo jacket and worn brown jeans.. He didn’t so much as glance in your cage’s direction as he walked over to his large, king-sized bed and placed the large duffel that hung around his shoulder upon it. He continued to unzip the bag and the clinking of metal objects brushing against one another heightened your attention as he drew from it various items. All of them sent alarm bells ringing in your head.

A handgun.

A pair of metal cuffs.

And a chain.

He sniffed nonchalantly before grabbing the assortment of threatening objects and turning in the direction of your confinement. As he began to mess with the lock on the cage gate, you immediately flung yourself off of the bed and darted to the furthest side of its iron walls.

“Easy there, tiger,” Chanyeol placed the items on bed, “I want to take you somewhere outside of this dingy rust bucket for a bit.”

“And what if I respectfully decline?” You kept your eyes trained on the gun that had been thrown on the mattress.

“Then I’ll have to not-so-respectfully use other means to get you there regardless,” He smirked before his face fell, “Now come here.”

You didn’t budge, hands clutching the metal bars behind your back.

“Don’t make me do this the hard way, Angel-cakes.” Chanyeol’s voice lowered threateningly.

No single Greek god even approaches Dionysus in the horror of his epithets, which near witness to a savagery that is absolutely without mercy… He is called the “render of men”, “the eater of raw flesh”, “who delights in the sword and bloodshed”. We hear not only of human sacrifice in his cult, but also of the ghastly ritual in which a man is torn to pieces. Where does this put us? Surely there can be no further doubt that this puts us into death’s sphere. The terrors of destruction, which make all if life tremble, belong also, as horrible desire, to the kingdom of Dionysus. The monster whose supernatural duality speaks to us from the mask has one side of his nature turned toward eternal night.

Anubis, Lord of the dead, weigher of hearts, I offer my praise.

Sharp of wit and quick of foot, the one who skillfully wields his dagger.

Tepy-Dju-ef, upon your mountain, guiding souls with your steady and gentle hands.

Yours is the care of those dearly departed, your hand always outstretched to those who venture toward the scales, ushering them towards eternity.

You have unrivaled empathy and gentleness of heart, kindness shines in your eyes.

Anubis, protector of tombs, skilled embalmer, guide of souls, weigher of hearts, Lord of the dead. I offer my praise.

I think the Ultra Beasts are based on the Seven Deadly Sins.

Let’s look at he evidence. The Ultra Beasts are described as being a threat to humans and Pokémon alike. They have unusual designs, more alien like than regular Pokémon. They seem to be able to control people in certain ways. And of course, there are seven of them (technically eight, but we’ll get to that). Here is my theory as to which sin each Ultra Beast represents.

Nihilego: Envy - Nihilego is described as imitating human behavior. Perhaps it is envious of humans, similar to how Mimikyu is envious of Pikachu. Thus, it pretends to be something it’s not.

Buzzwole: Pride - Buzzwole acts a lot like bodybuilders showing off their muscles. It clearly has a strong ego.

Pheromosa: Lust - This one should be pretty obvious. Pheromosa has an elegant design and can supposedly infatuate anybody.

Xurkitree: Greed - Because Xurkitree is an Electric type, it obviously consumes electrical energy. Perhaps goes around stealing energy and refusing to share.

Celesteela: Wrath - I heard rumors that within the game’s lore, Celesteela has the power to burn down entire forests.

Kartana: Sloth - Kartana’s body is described as being so sharp that it doesn’t have to do much to attack.

Guzzlord: Gluttony - Again, pretty obvious. Guzzlord’s body is 90 percent mouth. Of course it eats a lot!

That just leaves Necrozma, who is apparently the odd one out. It has a different ability than the other Ultra Beasts, and it seems to have little connection with them. Perhaps Necrozma is supposed to represent the original sin of Adam and Eve, or the sin of despair, which is considered number eight in certain circles of Christianity. Maybe Necrozma is the Pokémon world’s equivalent of Satan. Sure, Giratina kind of fits the bill too, but Pokémon has recycled ideas before.

Maybe that means that Silvally is somehow tied to the Ultra Beasts too. Silvally has many similarities with Arceus, and it requires a strong bond with its trainer to evolve, so maybe Silvally is some type of Jesus allegory. Maybe an upcoming Pokémon movie will feature Silvally sacrificing its life to defeat the Ultra Beasts, only to be resurrected at the end.

I know that the Seven Deadly Sins seems like a pretty dark topic to cover in a Pokémon game, but the series has certainly become more complex and adult since Red and Blue. And religious themes have been explored in the series before - Arceus is pretty much God after all. So maybe the Ultra Beasts are the personifications of humanity’s darkest desires come to wreak havoc on the mortal world and tempt us into following a path toward eternal damnation.

Or maybe they’re just aliens. Either way, they’re pretty damn cool.

UPDATE: I have been informed that Necrozma is not actually an Ultra Beast, but rather the third Legendary of the Sun/Moon trio along with Solgaleo and Lunala. However, the Pokédex mentions that it is “reminiscent” of the Ultra Beasts, so I think it may be somehow connected to them as well. It’s also described as sleeping underground and absorbing light, so my theory that it is some kind of devil-like figure still stands. As of writing this, I have not yet played the games, so I may be wrong.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Now that I think about it, I may have gotten wrath and sloth backwards. Kartana (wrath) is definitely sporadic in its battle animations, while Celesteela (sloth) doesn’t move much at all. This is also reflected in their stats - Kartana has incredible attack, whereas Celesteela has pretty low speed (though Guzzlord’s is lower, I’m 1000% sure Guzzlord is gluttony).

could you do 41 with lin?? the i found you prompts haha

41. While dressing for our wedding.

“There’s nothing in the rules about Facetiming your bride to be!” Lin grinned at his cleverness, his father straightening his bow tie just out of frame.

“It took three of us to keep him from storming over to your room.” Chris remarked in the background.

“Can you guys give us a minute?” Lin asked, shooing them out the door. You moved to escort your bridal party out of the room as well. You collapsed onto the couch with an exhausted huff, Lin looking just as antsy as you felt.

“Hi.” You started, grinning ear-to-ear.

“You look phenomenal.” He murmured, a single whisper, as if speaking any louder would scare you away. “I put on my most expensive tux and I’m still nothing compared to you in pajamas.”

“Flattery will get you nowhere.” You teased, “I already agreed to marry you.”

“God, I need to get a fucking ring on you before you realize you made a horrible mistake.”

A knock sounded at the door, and Jazzy peeked her head in.

“Y/N? It’s time to put your dress on.”

“Well, that’s my queue.” You sighed, “See you up there?”

“Definitely. What will you be wearing? Just so I know what to look for.” He smirked, face softening at the idea of standing up at the alter as you made your way towards him and towards an eternity with him.

“I’ll be the one in white.”

Girded with a faith, and the performance of good works, let us follow in Christ’s path by the guidance of the Gospel; then we shall deserve to see him “who has called us into his kingdom.” If we wish to attain a dwelling place in his kingdom, we shall not reach it unless we hasten there by our good deeds. Just as there exists an evil fervor, a bitter spirit, which divides us from God and leads us to hell, so there is a good fervor which sets us apart from evil inclinations and leads us toward God and eternal life. No one should follow what he considers to be good for himself, but rather what seems good for another. Let them put Christ before all else; and may he lead us all to everlasting life.

Any form of Love is not a sin. You know what is tho? Hating and judging. And spreading such vile articles by some old ass ignorant priests. This is just disgusting, delete your account.

This is not a question but this is a concern expressed from a firm mentality against what the Word and God’s people share about homosexuality. I’m responding to express love for what it is in God’s faithful grace.

You mentioned that “any form of love is not a sin.” You mentioned that it’s sin to hate and judge. You used the words vile and “old ass ignorant priests.”

First: John Piper is not a priest. The need of a priesthood has been long done since the LORD Jesus Christ made the first move to redeem us through the cross and His resurrection. See the Book of Hebrews 5-10. John Piper was a pastor and, before being one then and now, he’s a follower of the LORD Jesus.

Any disciple of the LORD Jesus is first a believer of the Good News and then a follower who seeks God’s heart through prayer, the Bible, and obedience to God’s Word. As the LORD Jesus walks with each of His disciples, He removes from us what we learned from this fallen world then enables us against how our flesh craves for lust and immediate, shallow self-gratification. This walk is life-long towards eternity but in the days we have on earth, the LORD Jesus also reveals us to His love that makes us stand against sin.

Pastors and other church leaders are not perfect like all of us. But when they trust God and follow His walk with integrity, pastors and leaders of the church are no long ignorant no matter how “old ass” they become. Their learning is from the Bible AND also from the walk the LORD Jesus takes them through. The walk involves real relationships as they minister to people, it involves a close witnessing of how sin ruins lives, it involves a daily study of what goes around them, and it certainly involves a great amount of applying a love that is both holy and hopeful for others.

Second: I submit to you that you have to read the Bible and its truthful context on this matter of homosexuality and those who speak God’s Word about it.

Love, sin, homosexuality, hatred and even judgment are well explained for us through the Bible. What distorts our understanding of the Word and our view towards people who follow God’s commands is our attachment to our own desires. Our faithless hearts and struggling flesh deprive us from the blessing of knowing God’s love for us.

I understand that there are many loud and aggressive, angry religious groups that speak of homosexuality apart from where God’s heart is. But we can’t generalize religious groups as Christianity simply because it’s different. God’s people, though against homosexuality, will always respond in truth and love. There is a difference to how we receive brothers and sisters with homosexual struggles, and we often fail to see that love in the church because we choose to be defensive-aggressive over what we want.

When God’s people speak against homosexuality, we speak against it the way we would against stealing, adultery, bitterness, and other sins. But what makes this homosexuality a big deal right now is more people are currently talking about it. News, movies, music, shows, and so on. It’s relevant to the point that followers of the LORD Jesus get asked about it online and in personal conversations. Naturally, of course, we respond and our response comes from God’s heart against what He did not design for us and against what will steal our joy that the LORD Jesus offers.

You know what’s vile? Life without God’s love and pulling people in the same lifestyle. This is Satan’s business. The enemy wants us to believe we are happy while we are short-served of the life God designed.

The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. (John 10:10 NLT)

This is not only on homosexuality. This is the same for those who use the Bible to live on the deceitful prosperity Gospel. This is the same for those who use the Bible to live on self-help and New Age lifestyle. This is the same for those who use to Bible to live on hatred that makes us pour out emotions without processing with both the mind and heart. This is the same for those who use the Bible to see themselves righteous while not following the LORD Jesus in sharing the truth and extending love.

It’s never easy to overcome sin whether it’s homosexuality or not. There are real and powerful struggles in every sinful lifestyle. What we have to keep in mind when we think of love (over homosexuality, premarital sex, fornication, and so on) is GOD LOVED US FIRST. Even before we cared about Christian views, even before we wanted love for what it is, it’s God who loved us first and His love is not in “any form.” He made a way for us.

As the Scriptures say,

10 “No one is righteous — not even one.
11 No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God.
12 All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.”
13 “Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave. Their tongues are filled with lies.” “Snake venom drips from their lips.”
14 “Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”
15 “They rush to commit murder.
16 Destruction and misery always follow them.
17 They don’t know where to find peace.”
18 “They have no fear of God at all.”
19 Obviously, the law applies to those to whom it was given, for its purpose is to keep people from having excuses, and to show that the entire world is guilty before God. 20 For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.

21 But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. 22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.

See Romans 3 (NLT)

I hope and pray that anyone concerned about homosexuality or any sin struggle for themselves or for loved ones would take refuge in the Word of God and pray. It often hurts to read the Bible because it reveals much of who we are and where we are. But, beloved, be encouraged. When God reveals any sin in our hearts or thoughts or lifestyle, it means He’s on step 1 of enabling us to go to Him and overcome it with Him ♥

I hope this helps you and those with similar concerns. God bless you!

Lord God, how divine is Your love for me. It is a constant flow and it is also a constant challenge to comprehend its greatness. And though it may overwhelm me, it has taught me to trust it and allow what little faith I have to build upon this hope. You are my greatest Hope. No matter how much I have (including the bad) and how little I have (including the good), You will accept it. You accept all that I am even when at times I am not acceptable in my own eyes. But because You are my King, I was born again, declaring Jesus as my Savior, I'm committed to abandoning myself and running towards You for eternity. I've given You all I have and will continue to do so. Here I am once again, take and use my faith, it's my joy to accept all the love You have for me.

By His Grace, Sheela
