It’s Sunday and I have the plague a slight cough. I am self-medicating with fic. Here are some magical realism fics that are guaranteed to cure the common bout of whatever ails you.

Fanfic Rec: Copy That
Author: maybemalapert (laconicisms)
Pairing: Sherlock/John
Rating: Explicit

A subtle manifestation of magical realism that results in John being transformed into the last living creature he looked when a certain key phrase is uttered. How handy this is for breaking out of small spaces, and how erotic this can be in other circumstances. This needs more art - especially when Sherlock utters the phrase and turns John into Sherlock.

Fanfic Rec: The Best Picture of the Human Soul
Author: SwissMiss
Pairing: Sherlock/John
Rating: Teen

Breath-takingly beautiful. One of my absolute favorites. This is a story in the realm of magical realism in which people’s bodies display organic markings or images (like tattoos) which represent major events or feelings in one’s life. A lack of markings is an anomaly associated with the nonfeeling and sociopathic. Sherlock Holmes is one whose body lacks these markings, or so it would seem to those who are not close enough to Sherlock and able to really observe him. As John’s relationship with Sherlock grows across the events covered in season 1, his body begins to manifest images that represent Sherlock’s influence on him.

The story parallels the events of the Reichenbach fall and concludes with John, discovering yet another secret on Sherlock’s body after his ‘fall’. This one elicits Reichenfeels but also a sense of hope and is continued in subsequent stories.

Fanfic Rec: Touchstone
Author: machshefa
Pairing: Sherlock/John
Rating: Mature

Magical realism fic in which people’s emotions manifest as stones and jewels. And some of the most beautiful and rare become touchstones.

Pairing: Sherlock/John
Rating: General

Post reichenbach fic set in the same touchstone universe as the above. Magical realism with hope. What cannot be said with words is shared in the colored stones we bleed.
