touchdown pass

Following my other Lars playlist I really wanted to make one that focuses on Lars’s and Sadie’s turbulent, complicated relationship with its ups and downs.

Thanks to my BFF Taylor @blessedthrice for helping me make this!!!

╰☆╮———– ╰☆╮ ———– ╰☆╮

And this is why I have decided
to pull these old white sheets from my head
I’ll leave them folded neat and tidy
so that you’ll know I’m out of hiding

I feel like a fool
so I’m going to stop troubling you
buried in my yard
a letter to send to you

She’s on his mind day and night,
thinks he takes her for granted but to her surprise,
he needs her more than she needs him.

Let’s get fucked up and die
I’m speaking figuratively, of course
like the last time that I committed suicide,
social suicide

I got no job I got no money got no self esteem
I take a Xanax every morning for anxiety
I take a beer and take another then I’m gonna call her
I’ll probably end up fuckin’ up and makin’ it feel awkward…

Having sex in the morning your love was foreign to me
it made me think maybe human is not such a bad thing to be
I just laid there in protest, entirely fucked
it’’s such a stubborn reminder one perfect night’s not enough

Sorry I didn’t kiss you
but it’s obvious I wanted to
bubble gum down my throat and it’s a curse
but my luck couldn’t get any worse

I feel like I don’t deserve the love that I receive
I feel like I don’t live up to all that I believe

And I can’t be arsed to carry on in this debate
that reoccurs ,oh when you say I don’t care
well of course I do, yeah I clearly do!

And since I’m young enough, and
since I’m dumb enough, and
since I’m arrogant, since I have not seen enough
I suppose I assume there were some loose guidelines
as to what to do to avoid this sense of certitude

And I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss you
and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t care
and I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t kiss you

Your body was warm when
I laid by your side
I said “I’m glad I have found you
and I’m glad we’re alive”

Who would you rather be
The Beatles or The Rolling Stones
oh seriously, you’re gonna make mistakes,
you’re young

Well I’m about to spend my whole life cutting corners, placing blame
any moment this could catch fire, erasing all the stains
so here’s to starting over, we could be the same
we’ll change it all together, the future’s mine to claim

I wanna take a bath with you
and wash the chaos from my skin
I wanna fall in love with you
so how do we begin ?

Ooooooh, are you taking ES21 prompts? *does a happydance* I'm rereading the manga right now! (I would blame this on your writing, but honestly I've never needed a reason for rereading this work of glory.) Prompt: Kuroko playing basketball again after The American Football Which Kuroko Plays (or, how absolutely no one was prepared for a Hiruma-trained Kuroko). Pretty please? I spend an unreasonable amount of time thinking about this.

“Is that a gun?” Kagami asks.

“I am just happy to see you, Kagami-kun,” Kuroko deadpans. Kagami continues to stare at him as Kuroko takes a long sip from his coffee. Then, calmly, Kuroko adds, “And also, yes, that is a gun.”

“What did they do to you at Deimon?” Kagami asks.

It’s a question everyone has been asking Kuroko a lot lately.

*

“What was that?” Midorima demands, outraged. Takao is laughing so hard he has to clutch his sides.

“That’s Kuroko’s Touchdown Pass!” Furihata says helpfully.

“That’s not—you can’t—this isn’t—” Midorima is so incoherent with rage he can’t even get the words out. “You can’t throw a basketball like it’s a football, you fool!

“Midorima-kun is surely not implying it is unacceptable for a basketball to have a high arch while going a long distance?” Kuroko queries.

“For shooting!” Midorima shouts. “Not for passing! You can’t pass a ball like that, it’s—inelegant!” He says inelegant like he means indecent, but the ref is starting to whistle at him for his fury, so he has to stop.

*

“Your stamina is better now, Kurokocchi,” Kise observes casually. “But you’re not playing American Football anymore.”

“I know,” Kuroko says.

“Do you?”

Kuroko doesn’t respond; he doesn’t have to, Kagami has the ball and Kise is sufficiently distracted.

*

“Oh god,” one of the First Years says, sounding sick. “They’re so big.

“It is alright,” Kuroko reassures. “They cannot actually touch you. It is very unlikely they will break your arm.”

The First Years stare at Kuroko.

“I don’t think they found that reassuring, Kuroko,” Kawahara says.

“Yosen’s height is not so intimidating after facing a defense line,” Kuroko remarks.

“Kurochin is more annoying now,” Murasakibara remarks, later on in the game.

“Thank you,” Kuroko remarks, politely.

*

“You’re different now, Tetsu,” Aomine says.

Kuroko doesn’t quite feel like this deserves a response.

“You haven’t been the same since you came back from Deimon,” Aomine continues.

“Aomine-kun does not need to be jealous that I got to play Amefuto for awhile,” Kuroko says.

“I’m not jea—shut up!”

Kuroko moves past him and shoots the ball through the hoop.

*

Akashi narrows his eyes as he looks at the score and then back to Kuroko. “Your game is a lot more unpredictable now.” This was a rather obvious statement, after the Emperor Eye failed to correctly predict another one of Kuroko’s trick plays. “This is not your style of basketball.”

“No,” Kuroko says. It would be impossible to explain to Akashi, or to anyone, what his year of playing American Football had done to him. Everything he’d turned his back on, and everything he’d gained, had changed his style too much, and he couldn’t be who he was before. “This is the style of basketball a Devilbat plays.” Then, calmly, he adds, “Ya-Ha.”

A/N: Thanks, anon-friend! Sorry for how long it has taken! I am very glad to hear you were rereading that manga! Everyone should read and reread that manga =P And I’m glad that you were interested in seeing more of “The American Football Which Kuroko Plays.” I was also inspired by @goddamn-shitshow wonderful art to write more so I took this opportunity =D So thank you! Hope you enjoyed this snippet!

Soda, (Y/n) and Steve had been best friends since they had meet. But lately Soda had been noticing things that he shouldn’t as a friend. He noticed how her hair sparkled in the sun, they way she concentrated when she was reading a book or doing her homework. He noticed that (Y/n) would play with the hair that would fall out of her braided hair, twirling it around her finger while she was in deep thought or something. This time (Y/n) was sitting on the porch watching the guys play football. She would normally play but she was tired and didn’t feel like playing. (Y/n) laughed as the guys fumbled the ball and started yelling at each other. When they saw she was laughing they all started laughing as well. (Y/n) was kind of like a peace keeper in the house, when they were fighting she would straighten things out and everyone got along again. Secretly she liked Soda, she had for a long time. They had always been friends but when she started to feel more for him she just pushed the feelings away. She didn’t want Soda to know because he had Sandy. He had been ditched by Sandy and he was really sad. (Y/n) and Steve were there for him but the whole time (Y/n) was jealous of Sandy. She always wanted it to be her not Sandy as Soda’s girlfriend. (Y/n) kept quiet not wanting Soda to know but inside she was angry and sad. (Y/n) was a very pretty girl, every guy in the school noticed that. The Socs hit on her even though she was a greaser. She never paid any attention to them though.  She always sat with Two-Bit, Johnny, and Ponyboy at school. She influenced some of the Socs to not beat up Johnny and Ponyboy. She knew that Darry was always worried about them especially when Two-Bit decided to ditch school. Darry knew if Two-Bit wasn’t there to protect them that they would most likely get beat up. Two-Bit tried to go to school as much as possible but he got drunk a lot. (Y/n) smiled to herself as she sat on the porch remembering all the football games she participated in. In one game Dally had tackled her and she had gotten a broken leg. Soda and Steve told her not to play any more football but (Y/n) didn’t listen. She kept playing and kept getting hurt. She always laughed it off and joined in another time. Soda and Steve were always on the same team with (Y/n), sometimes they would have Darry but most of the time it was Pony. The teams were pretty even, with Dally, Two-Bit, Johnny and Darry on one team and (Y/n), Steve, Soda, and Pony on the other. (Y/n) was a surprisingly good football player against everybody’s thoughts. She was fast and good at catching the football. Only Pony could catch her but since they were normally on the same team (Y/n) didn’t need to worry about him. She was very evasive as well, she was very good at dodging and weaving through the defense. Most games they won. Today (Y/n) and Johnny were sitting out watching Soda, Steve and Pony play against Darry, Dally, and Two-Bit. Soda’s team was winning but Darry tied them with a touchdown pass to Dally. (Y/n) cheered for both teams as they played, she liked to support all of her friends. After the game was over she went inside and sat on the couch, she liked to sit right in the middle, it was sort of her spot. She leaned back and closed her eyes. She felt the couch dip on both sides. She smelled hair grease and car oil. She concluded that it was Soda and Steve. She opened her eyes to see her two best friends staring at her. She smiled at them.
“So… (Y/n) do we get a reward for winning the game without you? It was a pretty tough game”
“Okay”
What Steve meant by a reward was a kiss on the cheek. (Y/n) was used to giving everyone in the gang kisses. She leaned over and gave Steve a kiss on the cheek. Then turned to the other side and gave one to Soda. Soda blushed a little and smiled at (Y/n). Only Steve and Pony knew that Soda liked (Y/n). Nobody knew that (Y/n) liked Soda. (Y/n) leaned back yet again and closed her eyes, a smile tugging on her lips. Soda noticed that and started staring at her, noticing every little thing she did. (Y/n) felt that eyes were on her and she opened hers to look around the room. She saw Soda staring at her, when she looked at him he looked down. (Y/n) watched Soda’s strange reaction but ignored it. She got up and went to her room down the hall. Soda watched her go wondering why he liked a girl that would never like him back.

In (Y/n)’s room
(Y/n) laid down on her bed, she was thinking about Soda. She smiled when she thought about his smile, his laugh, the way he teases Darry and gets away with it. She wondered why she likes somebody who could never like her back… He was still sad about Sandy right? (Y/n) stayed in her room thinking for so long that before she knew it Darry was calling her to dinner.
“(Y/n)! Dinner is ready!”
“Okay!”
(Y/n) left her room and went to the table. She saw that only Johnny was still at the house.
“Hey Johnnycakes”
“Hi (Y/n)”
“Are you staying here tonight?”
“I think so…”
Johnny looked at Darry like he was asking for permission.
“Johnny you know that you don’t have to ask, you can stay here any time you want”
“Thanks (Y/n)… It doesn’t feel right not asking”
“She’s right Johnny”
“Thanks Darry”
“No problem kiddo”
They had a nice peaceful dinner. Afterward it was (Y/n) and Soda’s turn to do the dishes, since Darry and Pony made dinner. Soda and (Y/n) got to work on the dishes, (Y/n) was washing and Soda was drying and putting them away. (Y/n) almost dropped a plate when Soda’s hand brushed hers. Luckily Soda caught the plate.
“Sorry Soda, I thought you had it”
“Its okay”
Soda smiled at her, taking in her blushing face. He had brushed her had on purpose to see her reaction. She reacted and he decided. He decided that he was going to tell her that night. The rest of the dish washing went without problem. (Y/n) sat on the floor in the living room and started doing her homework. It was a Saturday and Darry thought that she had already did all of it.
“Hey (Y/n), I thought you finished all of your homework”
“I forgot about this one assignment for math”
“Oh. Did you need some help?”
“Umm… I think I can do it”
“Just ask if you need help”
“Okay”
(Y/n) started on her math. Soda watched as she did the math problems in her head, every once and a while she would have a problem and have to do the math on the paper. When some of her calculations didn’t add up she would make a face then redo her math. After a few minutes she had finished. (Y/n) had never been the best at math but she always asked for help when she needed it. Pony always helped her as well. She put away her homework and looked at Pony. He smiled back and asked,
“Have any problems (Y/n)?”
“Nope, that math was pretty easy”
“Cool… Do you want to watch the horror movie marathon that is on tonight?”
“Umm… I guess”
“Sweet”
(Y/n) had never been a fan of horror movies.
“Soda, you in?”
“Definitely”
“Darry?”
“Sorry guys not tonight, I’m pretty tired. You guys have fun”
“Okay”
“Johnny?”
“I’m in”
“Cool”
Darry went off to bed and Pony turned on the t.v. (Y/n) sat in between Soda and Pony on the couch, while Johnny sat in the armchair. All three boys knew (Y/n) wasn’t a fan of horror movies. Normally when they watched horror movies (Y/n) clung onto Soda or Steve. That reaction was what Soda was hoping for. (Y/n) started to get scared from the very first scene in the movie. She was holding Soda’s hand and clinging to his shirt. Soda had his arm around her and was rubbing her arm soothingly. At the first murder scene (Y/n) buried her face into Soda’s shoulder. Soda smiled at her reaction. He pulled her onto his lap and wrapped his arms around her. (Y/n) wasn’t concerned in this action. As best friends they did that all the time, especially during horror movies. (Y/n) kept her head buried in Soda’s shoulder the rest of the movie. She was the same way during the second and third movie. At the start of the fourth movie both Johnny and Pony had fallen asleep. (Y/n) got up off of Soda’s lap and turned off the t.v. She turned to Soda and motioned to Pony. She wanted him to cover him with a blanket. She would do the same thing to Johnny. Soda nodded and went to the closet. He came back with two blankets. He handed one to (Y/n) and draped the other one over Pony. (Y/n) walked over to Johnny and wrapped the blanket around him. She smiled at him and looked at Soda. They both started walking down the hall. They stopped in front of Soda and Pony’s room.
“Good night Soda”
“(Y/n)… Can I tell you something?”
“Of course”
“I… I-I really l-like you”
“Really?”
“Yes… If you don’t feel the same-”
“I like you too  Soda”
“Really?”
“Yes”
Soda leaned down and kissed (Y/n). She put her hand on his cheek. They pulled away and (Y/n) looked down.
“What’s wrong?”
“I… I thought you were sad about Sandy”
“I was… Then I realized how much you really meant to me and the more I thought about it the more I liked you and before I knew it I wasn’t sad about Sandy anymore”
“Oh… All this time I thought you would never like me because you loved Sandy”
“Sorry”
“Its okay… I’m glad that you like me too… I’m also glad that I decided to ‘watch’ that movie marathon”
“Why? You were terrified the entire time”
“It led to this”
(Y/n) stood on her tiptoes and pecked Soda’s lips. She took a few steps back and Soda gave her a look of confusion. She smiled at him and kept backing up. He realized what she was doing and smiled back. He started stepping towards her. When (Y/n)’s back hit her bedroom door she opened it and went inside. Soda came in and closed the door. (Y/n) sat down on the bed and smiled at Soda.
“Why didn’t you say anything sooner?”
“I didn’t think you liked me back”
“That should be my line”
“Why?”
“You were really sad about Sandy and you could have any girl in Tulsa… So why choose me?”
“You were the only girl that stayed with me no matter what. You were there for me when I was sad. Your always here for me”
“Oh”
(Y/n) lay down on her bed and closed her eyes. She moved on the bed so that she was laying correctly and there was enough room for Soda to lie down. Soda seemed to get the message and lay down next to (Y/n). She leaned into his shoulder and fell asleep. Soda wrapped his arm around her and fell asleep a few moments later.

The next morning
Darry opened (Y/n)’s door to see his 16 year old brother laying with his arms around (Y/n), sleeping soundly. He smiled, closed the door and walked out to the living room. He saw his youngest brother sitting on the couch asleep with a blanket draped over his shoulders. He looked over at Johnny, he was sitting in the armchair with a blanket wrapped around his shoulders. Darry laughed to himself and went into the kitchen. He made some coffee and started reading the newspaper. This was going to be an interesting day.

CSBB Snippet

Here’s a snippet from a CSBB work in progress for you to enjoy!

Turning around, she found herself face to face with Killian Jones.  He held out his hand and said, “I’m Killian Jones.  Pleasure to meet you.”

She looked at his hand and took it before replying, “Emma.”

Killian’s eyes widened in surprise, “You’re Emma Nolan, the owners’ daughter?”

She nodded, “I am.”

“You’re the new coaching assistant?”  Emma nodded and Killian grinned, “Looks like we’ll be spending a lot of time together, love.”

She felt her heart rate increase as he looked into her eyes, but she did her best to ignore it.  “Flattery will get you a lot of places in life,” she said, “But not with me.”

Undeterred, he continued, “Can I take you out for a drink sometime?  I know a place around here that serves the best rum.  You can evaluate my off-the-field intangibles, as they call them.”

Emma rolled her eyes, “I’ll pass, thanks.”  Regina blew the whistle and the players returned to the field for afternoon practice.

Killian bowed his head and said, “I’ll see you around, love.”  He took his helmet from one of the assistants and put it on his head, the Buccaneers logo emblazoned on the side.
Scrimmage went fairly smoothly, as there were no significant injuries.  Killian threw two touchdown passes and looked back at her each time. Emma noted that he didn’t look at her when another pass was intercepted and returned for a touchdown.  Regina took him out after he threw another touchdown pass to give his backup some reps, but reporters immediately swarmed him before he could walk back over to her.

“What are your goals for the season?” The reporter, a young blonde woman, put her microphone in front of Killian.

Killian smiled for the camera, “The same as it always is: to win the Super Bowl.”

“And how do you feel about the Buccaneers chances this year?”  The reporter continued her questioning.

He paused for a moment and said, “I feel good.”  He scratched his ear with his finger and continued, “We have a good team this year, and I think we’ll surprise a lot of people.”  He glanced over at Emma and said, “I also think we have a great coaching staff that will help us go far.”  He winked at her, and Emma rolled her eyes.

“Thank you, Killian,” the reporter wrapped the interview with a smile.

DOUG: Bluffington State University

Doug and his friends are college freshmen at Bluffington State University. In his journal, Doug describes his experiences with each of his friends since entering college.

Doug Funnie + Porkchop

Dear Journal: I can’t believe tomorrow is my first day of college. I’m both excited and a bit anxious. This feeling reminds me of the time my family and I first moved to Bluffington. It seems like it was just yesterday that Skeeter taught me how to properly place an order at Honker Burger. Or when I accidentally spilled ketchup on Roger’s suede shoes. I miss those days. Life was simpler then. The thought of moving away from home is kinda scary, but at least i’ll have my best pal Skeeter is my roommate. How bad can it be?

Skeeter Valentine

Dear Journal: At first I thought having my best pal Skeeter as a roommate would be sweet, but man… I can’t get any studying done when he’s around! His beat boxing makes it nearly impossible to focus. He’s worse than Larvell Jones in Police Academy! I can’t even get any rest because he Honks in his sleep. Now don’t get me wrong, Skeeter’s great, but this arrangement just isn’t quite what I thought it would be. I wonder if it’s too late to share a dorm with Al & Moo Sleech?

Patti Mayonaise

Dear Journal: My roommate situation may be less than ideal, but at least I share a class with Patti. It seems i’m not the only one that’s having a hard time adjusting to college life. The thought of not being at home to help her dad worries her sometimes. I think softball helps to ease her mind. She’s still quite the tomboy. Her new hairstyle seems to reflect that also. She’s never looked better. Even after all of these years I still get butterflies when I’m around her though…

Chalky Studebaker

Dear Journal: I think it goes without saying that Chalky is the most popular guy on campus. He’s a star student. All the girls love him. All the guys want to be him. And he’s the starting quarterback of the football team. In Bluffington State’s first game against The University of Bloatsburg Chalky threw a total of six touchdown passes. Pretty amazing stuff. What’s even more amazing to me is despite all of his accomplishments he still thinks he’s trapped in his older brother’s shadow.

Beebe Bluff + Connie Benge

Dear Journal: Social media is a great way to keep in touch with friends, but if you happen to be Beebe and Connie it’s just a more convenient way to gossip. Since Beebe became “instagram famous” she’s more snobby than before, which I didn’t even think was possible. And Connie’s ego is even bigger than her head ever since she reached 10,000 Twitter followers. It’s not easy to relate to them anymore unfortunately… It’s like they’re completely consumed!

Judy Funnie + Porkchop

Dear Journal: I’ve been feeling a little homesick lately. I kinda miss my family. (Even Judy but don’t tell her I told you that). I hope my buddy Porkchop is doing okay without me. He’s getting pretty old. Mom says Judy put him on a diet because he put on few pounds from all those Honker Burgers. Nothing but beets and water. That’s no way to live. I guess Judy didn’t know that beets make Porkchop gassy before she made that decision. Boy is she in for surprise!

Roger Klotz + Stinky

Dear Journal: During middle school and high school Roger gave me a hard time. So I was a bit relieved when I learned that he wasn’t going to be joining us at Bluffington State. I hear he went to Bloatsburg Tech. Ned, Boomer and Willy are here, but it seems they don’t really know how to function without Roger at the helm so they joined a fraternity. They’re relatively harmless now. Though Boomer did tell me that Roger and Judy secretly dated briefly. Ugh.. Can you imagine if they got married? That would make Roger my brother-in-law. Yikes!

Imagine:

Your gasp could be heard all through-out the stadium, you cover your mouth from the scream that would erupt. The whole stadium is silent as the watch Danny’s unconscious body laid on the field while his leg is turned in an awkward position. You run to where they load Danny on a gurney and take him to an ambulance truck. You push through countless security; you are at the truck and was about to jump in when the head doctor told her family only. Tom Brady struts over and basically growls in his face…

“That’s his girlfriend, asshole. Let her ride…” He says in a cold tone and you flinch a little, the paramedic look terrified and let your ride to the hospital. You watch as Danny wakes up and he immediately starts to yell in pain, you immediately grab his hand and he starts to calm down instantly. You arrive at the hospital and you are sitting beside Danny after 3 hours of test’s and things to be checked, you look up at the clock to see it is 2:58, you’re not going to work tomorrow. Danny wakes up after another hour and half, you were sleep to the chair next to him, he grabs your hand and you jolt awake and smile. You hear a soft knock at the door and you look over your shoulder.  You see an older man, maybe in his late 50’s, white hair, green eyes.

“Hello Danny, how do you feel?” He smiles and Danny smiles, he loves elderly people. You thought it was weird at first but he told you that his grandfather was the nicest old man ever and he told Danny. ‘If you treat the wise man well, you will earn that wisdom ten times more…’The doctor and Danny discuss things and you feel sadness when you see Danny’s face fall when the tell him he has a stage 3 hamstring tear and a minor concussion, that will take 3-5 months to heal. Danny looked determined to come back in time for the Superbowl, he is that confident in his team. After a couple days of pleading and whining from Danny for you guys to leave, you were released 4 days later. You help him inside and you do everything that needs to be done while he is in bed miserable watching the NFL Channel. You feed him, give him his daily dose of medicine, and drive him to physical therapy to get that hamstring healed quickly. You watch as he pushes everyday at the therapist, the determination on his face, the constant drive he has when a receiver drops a pass. You can see Danny is ready to play and he is all business.

*Present Day* 4 Months Later

“Danny Amendola is on fire tonight; two touchdown passes, one being a punt return, and 129 yards completed. I have got to say, Danny Amendola might just get this Superbowl MVP in Superbowl 49. The score is correct 29-0, New England demolishing the Atlanta Hawks in the Cowboys Stadium. There is 49 seconds left and this is one of the worst Superbowl losses I have ever seen…” The commentary is yelling announcing the game; you smile and laugh as Danny is running than ever before. When Danny came back, multiple people were accusing him of POD’s and he proved them wrong with a drug test. He came back a month before the Superbowl and they blew the Atlanta Hawks out of the water, 38-3. You are on the sidelines cheering Danny on as he runs in for another touchdown and the New England Fans are going ballistic. Before you know it Danny is spinning you around and the confetti starts to fall, you smile and kiss Danny with so much passion and love.

“Thank you Stephanie! I love you so much…”  He yells over the cheers and crowd. You see he is hiding something around his back and you grow curious. He grabs your hand and pulls you to the middle of the field and everyone grows quiet quickly, he had a microphone behind his back. You gasp and look around to how many people are watching.

“Hey, everyone wants to know how I came back so fast and strong, huh? Well this loving women here, Stephanie Amendola. Thank you so much for helping me and for staying by my side through hell. I love you…” He says in the microphone and the crowd is going crazy you look all around and you laugh at the faithful fans, you look at the teammates all around, smirking at you and gesturing for you turn around, you turn around and gasp loudly. Danny is on one knee holding the perfect ring in his hand and is smiling at you. You feel tears well up in your eyes and laugh a little, the teammates laugh and cheer Danny on. The crowd is at its loudest and are chanting ‘say yes’. You look back at Danny with so much love and he mirrors your emotion.

“Did you not realize I called you Stephanie Amendola?” Danny says in the microphone and the crowd cheers louder and louder, your eyes grew wide and you laugh. You lean down and kiss him with so much passion and care, the crowd is screaming their heads off and the team joins in on it. You break apart and you nod your head, not finding the words to say yes. He lifts you up and spins you around like you are lighter than a feather. You laugh and you are the happiest you ever been. You see Couch walking up to you and he smiles, he whispers in Danny’s ear and Danny’s smile widens, nodding his head.  You look at him and kiss him all over his face.

My Boys Drabbles - My Girl

I’m back, this time with the request I’ve gotten the most since I opened my inbox to prompts! Thank you @jia911 for getting back to me so quickly and for doing such a great job.

This one goes out especially to @francescabuccino who deserves a Christmas treat and to the amazing @omelialover who is recovering from the plague! You’re a survivor hahah

This story is from the series My Boys Drabbles but it can also be read as an independent one shot

  • The Prompt:

A lot of people have been asking me to write about Megan’s first period and how Owen would deal with it. Here goes!

  • Timeline:

This one is set two years after MBBF

My Boys Drabbles – My Girl

“Hurry up, guys, lunch will be cold!” Owen yelled to the back door, seeing their three youngest children tossing snowballs at each other while their dog Peanut ran from one to another, playfully biting their sleeves.

One by one, they entered the house and the four of them were already sat by the table eating lunch when Danny asked:

“Dad, is mom coming home tomorrow or on Tuesday? Because I need to know if she’s going to attend our game tomorrow night so I can save her a ticket.”

“They’re selling out faster than Super Bowl,” Robbie exaggerated, obviously proud.

Owen chuckled, contaminated by his sons’ happiness. Ever since they’d started high school, the twins had joined the football team, much to Amelia’s dismay. Every time they mentioned it, she would chant head concussion but that didn’t prevent her from screaming and cheering like a crazy woman from the bleachers whenever her sons were playing.

I know this is a bad comparison, but it works for me so hear me out.

Watching the election last night, I felt like I was watching Superbowl XLII again. For those of you who don’t watch football or are too young to remember, a quick recap:

In 2008, the New England Patriots ran a perfect season. Tom Brady was at the top of his game and the team had a chemistry that was undeniable. They were the first team to run a prefect season since the 1972 Miami Dolphins, and entered the game as a 12-point favourite to win. EVERYONE thought they were going all the way. SO MANY people believed that they were undefeatable, and there was no question of their victory. Anything other than a Patriots win would have been a joke…

Enter Eli Manning and the New York Giants. With a season record of 10 - 6, the Giants entered Superbowl XLII as a wild card, and were seeking to become the first NFC wildcard team to win a Superbowl. It also would have been only the franchise’s 3rd Superbowl win, and their first since Superbowl XXV seventeen years earlier.

The game was tight throughout, Giants pulling ahead in the 1st quarter 3-0, Patriots scoring a touchdown in the second to bring the score up to 7-3. But with a scoreless 3rd quarter, NE fans began to wonder if maybe it wasn’t going to be as easy of a sweep as anticipated. Entering the 4th quarter, fans of both sides were on the edge of their seats, until Manning finished a 7-play, 80-yard drive with a 5-yard touchdown pass to David Tyree, giving New York a 10–7 lead with 11:05 left in the game.

The Patriots then got the ball on their own 20 yard line and after a series of drives up the field, Brady was able to find Moss wide open in the end zone and complete a pass to him for a Patriots lead 14-10 with 2:42 left in the game.

The Giants final, game winning drive is now considered to be one of the greatest Superbowl plays of all time. Manning broke free from the grasp of Jarvis Green and Richard Seymour, righted himself, and threw the ball towards the middle where both David Tyree and Rodney Harrison went up for it. Tyree, under fierce coverage, made a leaping one handed catch, out jumping Harrison and maintaining possession by pinning the ball against the crown of his helmet. The play went for 32 yards and kept the drive alive. 4 plays later, NE cornerback Ellis Hobbs bit on a slant-and-go route and Manning lofted a pass into the end zone to wide receiver Plaxico Burress, making the score 17-14 for NY with 35 seconds remaining.

New England regained possession of the ball, but we’re unable to complete any further scoring plays in the time remaining, and only succeeded in allowing a 10 yard sack by rookie lineman Jay Alford and a smattering of incomplete passes down the field.

TL;DR The favourite to win almost does, but suffers a crushing defeat in the final moments, leaving everyone asking “how?”

This was one of the greatest upsets in sporting history, and I felt like I was reliving it all over again last night watching the election. A shoe-in, a sure thing, the undefeated competitor, was defeated by the opposition who, by all rights never should have gotten that far, never should have been there. As a New England Patriots fan, February 3rd, 2008 is a date I’ll never forget out of sheer disappointment. As a human being, November 9th, 2016 is a date I’ll never forget either, because that’s the day I lost my faith in humanity.

Randall Cobb beats Zack Bowman to the end zone to score the game-winning touchdown with 38 seconds left as the Green Bay Packers beat the Chicago Bears 33-28 to capture the NFC North championship on Sunday (Dec. 29).  Back after missing seven games with a broken left collarbone, quarterback Aaron Rodgers found a wide-open Cobb on 4th-and-8 to wipe out a one-point deficit with a 48-yard touchdown pass.  (Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images)
