Looking Glass || Self Para featuring Torrey Mercer
Sugar was tired of walking around and managed to find a halfway unoccupied table to relax at by herself. She was scanning the room, looking to see if she could spot Rory and see if he was doing alright, but her eyes managed to stop on the stage when a tall, blonde headed girl stepped up to the microphone. She, surprisingly, looked halfway familiar to Sugar. She couldn’t hear part of what she was trying to say at first as a huge amount of feedback came barking out of the loud system. It had most, if not everyone, annoyingly grabbing at their ears. Sugar didn’t do the same, but rather watched the girl’s reaction to her mistake as she grabbed the microphone and continued on with a slur of apologies.
“Oh jeez, sorry sorry sorry! Okay, hiiiii. I’m Torrey. Something tells me I entered Brittana Fans Anonymous?”
Spite her mess-up, it was immediately forgotten as several squeals came from around the room. It followed with several people lifting up their wine glasses to cheer her on. Even Sugar let out a small cheer, spite wanting to keep a low profile to make sure she wasn’t noticed keeping to herself.
“Okay great! This song is for Santana and Brittany. And really for anyone and everyone who has ever struggled with body image issues, eating disorders, self confidence, self hate, and cutting/depression. This song isn’t for me, it’s for all of you.”
Sugar’s eyes widened. The girl definitely had everyone’s attention, more so when the pianist began the song’s first chords. The song was familiar now, one she’d heard played time and time again on the radio, and it immediately had the crowd roaring.
It mimics the image of what you are They echo your shadows from afar If you stare to long get lost and now you trapped behind the looking glass Don’t trust the mirror because it lies Feeds off the passion that’s in your eyes You stare to long get lost and now your trapped behind the looking glass Cause it’s such a lonely place I don’t wanna feel this way Caught up in my appearance Can you save me from myself Trapped in the mirror Mirror mirror on the wall Your reflections says it all I can’t take it anymore I’m trapped in the looking glass Mirror mirror let me out I scream but I can’t hear a sound They tried to warn me yea but now I’m trapped in the looking glass Dying to know whats on the other side Don’t know what’s real or what’s in my mind Stare to long get lost now your trapped behind the looking glass Trying to find me but every time The silence reminds of what’s it like You stare to long get lost and now your trapped behind the looking glass Mirror mirror on the wall Your reflections says it all I can’t take it anymore I’m trapped in the looking glass Mirror mirror let me out I scream but I can’t hear a sound They tried to warn me yea but now I’m trapped in the looking glass Whoa won’t you let me go I don’t believe in you My mind is made up Won’t you set me free Mirror mirror on the wall Your reflections says it all I can’t take it anymore I’m trapped in the looking glass Mirror mirror let me out I scream but I can’t hear a sound They tried to warn me yea but now I’m trapped in the looking glass
The song was captivating. Sugar wasn’t the only one that had seemed to have been swept into the song as the crowd around her had practically silenced themselves to hear every syllable of the song. By the end, the room had broke out into an ocean of cheers and even Sugar was giving the girl a standing ovation. The girl looked humble as she put the microphone back in the stand, thanking everyone over and over again. Sugar scanned the room again and finally saw Santana and Brittany who, too, seemed more than pleased with the performance that had entranced the whole room. The blonde, placing her hands on her hips, leaned close in the microphone with a grin.
“Okay so, I got another one for you. This one really hits home in my heart. It has a special place for me and I think you all will really appreciate it. This is ‘Look at Me Now’ by Chris Brown…HIT IT!”
