#5. Shrines - Purity Ring

Purity Ring was actually a last minute entry to the list. I always knew “Fineshrine” was an unreal track, but I recently had a chance to listen to the album (last week) and it messed my list up completely. It’s all better now. Listen to this album if you know what’s good for you. Shrines would be higher on the list if I wasn’t such a sucker for the two hardcore giants in the top four.

The tracks together read “Forgot not your first love. Speak in tongues and cheek”, with each word representing one track (that’s right–even “in” and “and” are tracks). As The Chariot often does, you get a short break from all the madness (“Your”), and the album works beautifully as a whole. The biggest problem: it’s over much too fast.

Track: “First” (if you don’t do hardcore, jump ahead to about 1:20 if you can)

#10. Crystal Castles (III) - Crystal Castles

Crystal Castles are so hipster they don’t even give their albums titles. Hard to top the two formers, but they still deliver. Highlights are whenever I’m not annoyed listening to it. Sounds like I hate this album. Why is it even on this list? I’m joking. It’s not terrible.
