Hey, friend! Thanks so much for this request! Disclaimer: THIS WAS SO HARD TO DO BECAUSE I LOVE SO MANY FICS! But if I have to narrow it down to just *gasps* 5 fics, then here they are! These aren’t in any particular order!

Until My Feet Bleed and My Heart Aches by Reiya, 147k (WIP)
Rivals AU where Yuuri’s main goal, ever since he was a child, is to beat Victor and win the GPF. SO MUCH ANGST (like, so much) and deliciously hot, hot, hot! You might die from reading this… it’s that good. This is SO GOOD! Seriously, it’s better than most published novels I’ve read!!! I AM 1000000% TOO OBSESSED BUT I DON’T EVEN CARE IT’S SO AMAZINGSFLA

A little longer than your average one shot, but OH MY GOD THIS FIC IS AMAZING. Yuuri, a pianist, moves into a new apartment complex to play with the ASO. Not long after he starts practicing, he starts getting requests from his mysterious upstairs neighbour. THIS FIC CLEARED MY SKIN AND SAVED MY SOUL IT’S SO SO AMAZING

The Fundamentals of Caring by braveten, Explicit, 20k
One of my favourite hurt/comfort fics! Yuuri comes down with a nasty cold and Victor tries to take care of him the best that he can. Full of hilariously delusional Yuuri, caring Victor, and ALL THE FLUFF! So cute, definitely recommend! LOOOOOVE!!!

Amateur or Expert? by Watermelonsmellinfellon, Teen, 1.9k
AU where Yuuri is a ice skating instructor and Victor is thirsty for him and will do whatever it takes for Yuuri to get to know him. Even if that means pretending to not know how to skate at all, even though he’s a five-time world champion. VERY cute, lots of fluff, and Victor is hilarious in this. I CAN’T STOP SCREAMING!

AU where Victor is the the most famous actor in Hollywood and Yuuri is a silver medalist at this year’s GPF… and also has a huge crush on Victor. Yuuri auditions to become his skating coach for a movie with the help of Pitchit and cuteness ensues. Fun, great writing, good plot. Lots of fluff, some angst, and a little bit of smut. 10 Things I Loved About Mass Effect:Andromeda

Warning: Spoilers! And I wrote this on the spur, so there might be grammatical errors.

1.      I enjoyed the story. Yeah, people will say it recycles from the trilogy, but come on, people. Why are you surprised? Bioware recycles their plotlines all the time. It’s pretty much the same in all of their games. A protagonist gains special abilities and leads a Ragtag Bunch of Misfits team to defeat a big threat. And I’m not bothered by that. Sometimes familiarity in your franchise is good, just as long as you do new things to the formula, and I think they do.

What interested me the most was the theme of starting over. A lot of people in the Andromeda Initiative were former criminals or outcasts. The reason they joined was to start a new life, and it’s explored in the main questlines, the loyalty quests, and numerous side quests. I was worried about the game talking about colonization since humans are looking for a new home, but I was pleasantly surprised that the game made it clear that Andromeda is the angara’s home first, and humans and other Milky Way species will have to work with them. Thank god! No Mightey Whitey trope this time!

2.      Ryder as the player character. I honestly never thought I would love Ryder as much as I did when I played the game. Sure, no one will ever replace Commander Shepard, but Ryder isn’t meant to replace the Commander, rather show a different perspective in a new story. Commander Shepard is the hero we want to be while Ryder is more of a relatable character. Ryder has to learn through the entire game how to be a leader while going through the obstacles of their inexperience and youth so people will take them seriously. And it was compelling, uplifting, and at times amusing to see them become a hero in their own right and step out of their father’s shadow.

Also Sara and Scott felt like their own person. In the original trilogy, the player character is pretty much the same no matter what gender. But sometimes the dialogue can be different depending on if you play a male Ryder or a female Ryder. That’s because they are two different people who have had their own experiences and personalities. That really adds to the replay value!

3.      Female aliens everywhere! One of my major issues with the original trilogy was the lack of female Turians, krogans, and salarians. Sure we had asari an all-female race, and female quarians, but it felt weird that we met so many aliens with very few ladies. Not only do we get a female Turian squadmate, we also get plenty of lady alien NPCs gathered everywhere for random quests. We also have Kesh who works at the Nexus. And we get to see female salarians! And they kind of look the same as male salarians except with different voices. Thank god! It would’ve been horrifying to see salarians with boobs. Uh! And I’m pretty sure there were just as many female angara NPCs as there were males.

4.      The romances. Especially the queer ones. One of the things I love about Bioware games are the romance paths. Bonus points if there is a queer option. And as of patch 1.08, this game has the most number of queer romances in any Bioware game. I think my two favorite romance paths are with Sara and Vetra and Jaal and Scott. While representation for the LGBT community is improving in media, there’s no denying we still have a long way to go. And after again the crap year 2016 where we had a huge number of queer women characters die in tv shows, it was so wonderful to have a healthy and happy relationship between two women when I first played the game. And even if it wasn’t added until the patch, the romance between Jaal and Scott is absolutely sweet since we see two men show a lot of love and affection for each other which is rare to see in media.

5.      The Tempest Family. I adore every single character on the Tempest, and they really did feel like a family once you played further into the game. I am a sucker for found families, and to see these people who are trying to find a home ending up finding a home with each other just gives me so many feels!

Since there’s not really a huge crew in the ship like in the original trilogy when Shepard had an army of humans. In Andromeda, we have six squad mates, four additional crew members, and Ryder. And I think it made the family more intimate. It’s like our own little family lives on the Tempest.

Also I liked how there were more quests spread out throughout the game with the squad which I think was lacking in Inquisition. Plus. Movie Night is the best scene ever!

6.      In my opinion, the side quests were fun. I think this was one thing they improved from Inquisition. Inquisition side quests just felt like a bunch of fetch quests that got kind of boring pretty quick, and didn’t really add to the overall story. Some highlights from Andromeda were: Kadara, the angara reincarnation questline, the Turian jailed for murder, the anti-AI group, meeting Zaeed’s son, and those kids sending out a distress signal for a new light for their weed plant. HAHA!

They were compelling in their own right and included cut scenes instead of the Inquisitor going to some location like in Skyrim to do a thing come back to the quest giver saying, “I did the thing.” “Ok, good.”

7.      Unlike in Inquisition, there’s actual payoff for some of the quests you do. I don’t mean to be mean to Inquisition, I still love the game, but remember when we were promised that you had to build your forces up in order to defend against the main threat. Yeah, you built forces to get influence points to gain perks, and that’s it.

In Andromeda, while, yes. It’s not the same level as Mass Effect 2. When you actually complete quests and help out leaders, you can get different results during the final battle. Like, there’s a chance Captain Dunn may not survive.

Also, when you get 100% viability on all the planets, you get a special surprise on Habitat 7- being told that it will one day be habitable because of our efforts. Sure it was a side quest, but it just felt so rewarding!

8.      The climax was actually fulfilling and exciting. Again, something else Inquisition was lacking in. Seriously, when I first played Andromeda, I legit gasped when the archon was taking control of SAM node. The villain was actually living up to his threatening nature!

Just when we think we got everything under control, and are about to find Meridian, the Archon fucks shit up, and our sibling has to step up to save the day. Then we have to gather people we helped out and prepare for a final battle, and Ryder can finally prove themselves as a true Pathfinder and kick the Archon’s ass once and for all. People are saying the ending was as disappointing as ME3’s? Pfft…What are you even talking about?

9.      The angara. Bioware never fails to make me love an entire fictional species. Yeah, it feels a bit off that they pretty much have the same faces and the same 3 voice actors, but I really do love their culture. And I appreciate that they were clearly coded as POC while Andromeda didn’t go through with the whole Mighty Whitey Trope. The game wants you to respect their culture and to respect their home.

I love the angaran people are open about their feelings, I love how their religion believes in reincarnation, I love how we see angaran scientists, soldiers, merchants, mercenaries, and civilians. Also Aya and Hivraal are absolutely gorgeous!

And when Jaal finds out his people were created by the Kett, I was worried it was going to go the Dalish elves route, but Jaal points out that it doesn’t change anything about the angara. They are still their own people. And that was such an uplifting message.

10.  The overall light-hearted tone. I wrote a small post that got a good number of notes. (Probably the biggest number I’ve ever gotten), so to quote: “There was always this sense of hope and optimism about finding a new home. ‘Yeah, things may have gone totally wrong, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make them better’ was the overall message I got.

And really, with so many bad things happening in the world right now and too much of our entertainment supposedly being our escapism being dark for the sake of dark, this was something I think a lot of us needed.”

Mass Effect 3 had its light-hearted moments, and I love it, but man, that game was emotional draining.

It’s a bit discouraging to love something so much and get recommended videos on youtube pointing out the same flaws of that certain game, and why they thought it was a huge disappointment. Do I agree with some of their criticisms? Sure. Does the history behind the production explain the flaws? Oh absolutely.

But people seem to forget that the original Mass Effect trilogy wasn’t without its flaws. I mean, sure everyone can agree on the Mass Effect 3 ending, but I could make a list of all the issues I have with the other Bioware games including Dragon Age: Inquisition (which despite winning Game of the Year, kind of suffers the same problems Andromeda had).

So yeah, after the crap year of 2016, I was so excited to get a newly-released game that made me happy. And still makes me happy, and makes me in the mood to play another Ryder.

My favourite Jori stories (in no particular order)
My Favorite Series In Order:

Sailor Moon:

I love the entire Sailor Moon franchise.  Yes, it’s mostly a nostalgia thing, but I can’t help but to love it.  The manga is a classic, and the 90′s anime, while being long and cheesy, is still something that to this day I will watch.  Usagi is a relatable character, and every senshi is enjoyable and unique to the show.  While the first two seasons of Sailor Moon Crystal were pretty terrible, the third season completely makes up for all of the faults in it thus far.  Plus, SeiUsa and HaruMichi are life.

Assassination Classroom:

Assassination Classroom is a fantastic series.  This is a series where you grow with every character.  This series is a roller coaster of emotions.  It has some of the most incredible moments I’ve ever scene in anime, as well as some of the most heartbreaking.  The ending to this show mentally destroyed me, and is the only series to this day that will make me break down every single time no matter how many times I’ve seen it, both subbed or dubbed.  It teaches so many life lessons, and is a must watch/read for everyone. The first season closing is not only my favorite closing, but one of my favorite songs, that to this day, I still listen to. Also, KarmAgisa is life.

Kuroko no Basket:

Alright, I love this anime. I love the characters, I love the manga, I love the voice actors, I love the fan arts, I love the fanfictions.  I love absolutely everything.  The story is intense, and it hooks you from the start.  If you like sports anime, this one is a must watch.  Also, AkaKuro and Kuroko x GoM my favorite <3

Tokyo Ghoul:

I’m very connected with this series.  I’ve been following this series religiously every week for years, so of course it’s one of my favorites.  Now, the anime is very disappointing, and the second season doesn’t exist, but I will still love it, especially since the last few chapters of Re have been fucking phenomenal. The opening for the first season is easily one of my favorite songs ever created. Also, I need Re animated like now.  It deserves it.  Actually, I need Part One redone as well.  Can we just reboot the entire anime series?

Kuroshitsuji:

I love this series.  Like Tokyo Ghoul, I’m very invested in the manga.  Manga wise, I love the art style, and the story arcs; and once again like Tokyo Ghoul, the second season also does not exist.  The story is very well written, although this most recent arc is dragging a bit (but that’s normal for different series).  Ciel is such a little bastard, and it’s wonderful to read.  It’s a dark series that won’t get a happy ending, and that’s part of what hooks me to it.

Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt:

This anime is fucking gold.  It is hilarious, and soo fucking inappropriate.  It’s by far my favorite comedy.  It’s art style is so unique and it has the best dubbing ever created.  The dub is by far better than the sub.  It also has the biggest cliffhanger ending, and fucking NEEDS a season two desperately.

Ouran High School Host Club:

I love this series so much.  This is another one of those series where I love every aspect about it, from the anime to the manga to the dubbing and subbing and even the Live Action T.V. Show and Movie.  It’s my favorite romantic comedy and always the first one I recommend to people looking for a shoujo.  Every character is unique in their own way and the story is really adorable.  I love the manga where you see so much development from everyone.  Also, Hikaru and Kaoru deserve Haruhi, and I don’t care what anyone says.

No Game No Life:

Shiro is adorable as fuck.  As a gamer, this show relates so much to me.  It’s an amazing fantasy, and the story is perfect.  The animation is beautiful, and the colors are so vibrant and beautiful.  Sora and Shiro are cute together and their interactions make the show that much better. I need my second season.   Side Note:  Jibril is best girl.

Shokugeki no Soma:

Food Porn.  Of course I’d love it.  This is once again another series where I’m invested in the manga, so of course I’d love the series.  I read the series weekly, and the most recent arc is making me fall further in love with the series.  The manga is a great read, and you actually learn a lot about cooking through the series, whether it’s the manga or the anime.  The food orgasms are hilarious, and the animation for this show is amazing.  I would kill for a season three of this show this year.

Free!:

I will always have a soft spot for this series.  It was the first anime that really got me hooked to sports anime.  I love it.  Yes, it’s a bit dramatic at times, but being an ex-swimmer/lifeguard, I find this series so relatable, making me love it even more.  Also, the fan service is definitely a positive.  I love the Japanese voices, and the OP and ED’s for both seasons.  The movie prequel they did was also amazing.  The animation is gorgeous, but that’s to be expected from Kyoto Animation.

So yeah, those are my top ten series!  Thoughts?

My Top 5 Favorite Alexei Yagudin costumes

Thank you so much to @gingiku for the request! Sorry it took me so long to finish this, and that it’s not a top 10.

I’m of the belief that a good costume can be as ridiculous or ugly as it wants to be as long as it succeeds in conveying or adding to the theme of a certain program. I mean I obviously enjoy looking at Yagudin in a pair of black slacks and a white silk shirt, but regardless of how much that ensemble might suit him, it wouldn’t make much sense for him to come out on the ice wearing that and proceed to perform Gladiator, stabbing his way through invisible Romans and imaginary Plushenkos and what not; the program would render the costume pointless and the costume would add nothing to the program. So here’s my list of top 5 Yagudin costumes not by the criteria of “tasteful” or “fashionable”, but of “How well does what he’s wearing complement the overall theme of the program and work to elevate it to a cohesive whole?”

5. Winter

I’m a horrible blasphemer of a Yagudin fan who doesn’t deeply adore Winter or its costume, personally (I dunno, it makes him look top-heavy?), but even I can’t deny that this costume is absolutely iconic. Whoever came up with the idea to express winter by creating an image of naked trees in the snow using nothing but black and white color-blocking and sequins deserves a medal. Deceptively simple yet thoroughly well-thought-out. Also stands out from the crowd! There wasn’t anything like it then and I haven’t seen it copied since. Not even Joubert would dare to attempt this (would he? That wasn’t a dare, Brian, step away from the sequins).

4. Revolutionary Etude

This is so tasteful and classy as far as figure skating costumes go, I almost have a hard time believing it’s a Tarasova costume. It’s beautifully crafted, with a gorgeous gradient of vivid red and black, and fits perfectly with the concept of this powerful SP: a desperate, bloody, and ultimately thwarted revolution, with the blood seeming to drip quite literally down his leg onto the ice. I only place this costume so low because it’s not weird enough, by which I mean it’s tasteful and therefore also generic (both Joubert and Buttle have worn similar outfits, as have others, I’m sure).

3. Circus

It’s like two seasons in row, Tarasova decided that ART MUST EXPLODE onto Yagudin’s SP costumes, and art obliged. First Yagudin looked like Taro Okamoto doing finger-painting, and then he looked like an entire orchestra puked all over him — and they’re both great costumes! I have some issues with the Nutrocker costume, like how the frilly piano keys at his waist ruin the line of his body, so Circus holds the edge for me, and I have nothing but admiration for both the Circus costumes. They’re just… fun! And colorful! And exuberant! Exactly like the program is! I also like that it’s not quite as on-the-nose as some other clown costumes we’ve seen through the times, like Klimkin’s Petrushka (sorry Klimkin, you’re still my favorite Ilia), but still manages to get the point across perfectly. It’s also adorable, and 18 year old Yagudin is adorable. Perfect.

2. The Man in the Iron Mask

I love this costume. Gladiator is the superior program with a great costume, too, but MITIM managed to cut back on the excessive embellishments of Gladiator and take a more stripped-down and subtle approach (I mean, as subtle as figure skating costumes can get…) to express “armor” on ice. The gold is a genius touch in retrospect, and I want to give my kudos to whoever sewed this for pulling off the look of rusty metal. Also I’m shallow, so I love any costume that accentuates the reversed triangle shape of Yagudin’s torso, which this costume does impeccably. My only criticism is that I’m not entirely sold on how the front is supposed to look like a mask; I mean I get it, but the eye holes look like they’re there for his nipples to peek out, and that mask is eating his gold medal. I’m just saying.

1. Overcome

Yes, yes, I know. My point about costumes needing to be more than just tasteful clothing is basically negated by the fact that I picked this as Yagudin’s best costume, since the Overcome outfit is barely a costume. Actually, I don’t think it’s a costume at all; it’s just whatever black or gray training clothes Yagudin happened to have in his luggage on that particular day. But that’s still the best costume choice for this program. What else would have fit Overcome, a meditation on ice on the theme of human weakness in the face of adversity and the strength we must find within in ourselves to overcome it? (I can’t believe I just typed that with a straight face.) Glitter and sequins? Suit and tie? Mesh? Bunting? A snake twisting its way around Yagudin’s body like Mucalinda around Buddha? No, if Overcome were a work of modern ballet the dancer would be naked save a pair of black tights, because what an Overcome costume needs to be is simply his bare body. But that’s a bit too cold for the ice especially now that Yagudin isn’t an idiot teenager anymore, so the decision he made for this costume was impeccable and OVERCOME REMAINS PERFECT IN EVERY SINGLE WAY, QED.

10 Best Arrowverse Moments (#2 Oliver & Felicity)

This week marks the long awaited return of every one’s favorite CW shows - Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow.

So we here at Comicbook.com figured what better time than to dive in and relive our favorite scenes from the shows with the 10 Best Arrowverse Moments!

Top 10 weirdest choices if SaNa doesn't happen.

Now, I’m not saying that SaNami has to or will happen 100%. But there are a few things that I personally would see as odd choices in the story writing from Oda’s part if Sanji and Nami ends up with other people. (If no one is confirmed by the end it can all just be hinted at and all shippers can interpret as they’d like.)

Now this is just my own small list of things that come to mind that I find quite curious and personally see as possible hints at SaNami happening by the end of One Piece.

10. Have them both talk about and be curious about the other’s past and even feelings. Of course this could still just be seen as nakamaship, but the weird part is why Oda would so often choose them specifically for this.

9. Having Nami being the driving force to save Sanji. Why in Zou have Nami be much more focused on getting to Sanji than any other strawhat, even more than Luffy. (Also, Sanji being the driving force when Nami is in danger, but that one is so obvious so…)

8. Having Sanji sacrifice himself for Nami multiple times. And also Oda seemingly avoiding them knowing about it by having them being unconcious pretty much every time it happens. I mean, he took a knife in the back for her!

7. Seeing Sanji run off to save Nami despite being with a woman who sort of returned his flirting. Even Viola herself seemed to see something was up.

6. The heart-shaped sakura between them. Right before an arc that focuses on Sanji’s wedding. I mean, it’s not neccessary, so why draw it at all? (Also, other color spreads with nice SaNami interactions.)

5. Making Nami answer Sanji’s confessions with “yes yes”, even as a joke. Also, not denying him. It would have been so easy for her to simply say “No, you idiot!” Having Sanji ask only Nami about her loving him is another interesting choice.

4. Having Nami step in to fight for and “avenge Sanji”. Both vs. Califa and in Skypiea when she protects Sanji and Usopp. Also the fact that she had that talk about his chivalry and even specifically said that “I won’t let her get away with this.“ about Califa.

3. Focusing most of Sanji’s flirting towards Nami instead of spreading it out. Seriously, Robin has so little Sanji-interaction in comparison to Nami that it’s almost weird. Also, Nami was the first woman Sanji showed heart eyes to. She was special right from the start.

2. That slap. Because it leads to tension that needs to be resolved, and it might possibly become a catalyst for change in the relationship between Sanji and Nami. Either way that slap is perhaps not romantic, but it does give off a feeling of deep emotions. Also, the thunder that timed perfectly with Sanji and Purin hugging. I said that was an ominous sign for Sanji x Pruin when the chapter first came out and I’m pretty sure it’s no coincidence that Oda decided to show that it was Nami who produced that huge lightning. Basically there has been a lot of Sanji/Purin/Nami drama… And speaking of.

1. The wedding themes. Thriller Bark, WCI, Omake Family Time and in two movies. I mean, this is just cruel fanservice at this point if they end up with anyone else. Also, the fact that Nami is called “Cat Burglar” which can mean husband stealer (Lola even used it in that context in Thriller Bark) and now we know that Purin is evil. If Nami fights Purin, that would definitely be number one on this list.

Thanks for reading. And I’m sorry about not being as active anymore, but I just don’t have the time that I used to. ^^’‘‘ Even so, let’s keep hoping for more SaNami coming our way. Let me know what you thought and if there are any other SaNami “things” you feel would make it on your own list. ;)

adramaticlife  asked:

Okay, so I love Storm. But I've never really been able to get into the comics. And I would love to! Any ideas/suggestions of where a beginner could start reading X-men with a heavy presence of Storm in it?? Thanks!!

First things first, the old Uncanny X-Men
More recent stuff is probably better for beginners, esp if you haven’t really been able to get into comics, but this is just in case you want a bit of that original X-Men reading (first ever appearances and major storylines of the 80′s - Mohawk Storm!)

Uncanny X-Men #145-147 (Rogue Storm)
It involves the famous Doctor Doom flirting scene - moral of the story: everyone should love and fear her, even DD, because she’s amazing

Uncanny X-Men #159 (Blood Feud!)
Storm and Dracula, that’s all you need to know

Uncanny X-Men #169-170 (Dancin’ in the Dark)
SO iconic. Storm takes on Callisto, the leader of the Morlocks - very famous fight

Uncanny X-Men #186 + #198 (Lifedeath Part 1 & 2) - also #220 (Unfinished Business)
Super important Storm storyline - she loses her powers, huge fallout with Forge - very deep, a big moment in her comic life

Uncanny X-Men #201 (Duel)
Storm once again proves she’s Queen - she fights Cyclops, STILL POWERLESS, to be the new leader of the X-Men

Uncanny X-Men #215-216 (Crucible)
Still without her powers, she takes on some superpower people hunting her down - once again, she’s amazing.

Recent series:

X-Men: Worlds Apart #1-4 - Very good Storm series, highly recommended

X-Treme X-Men Vol. 1 (especially issues #36-39 which you can buy as a collection here) - Storm at her best really

Storm Vol. 2 - lovely art, depicts story of Storm’s origin and meeting of Black Panther (its a retcon but good nonetheless)

Storm Vol. 3 - a bit dull, not much of a storyline but nevertheless a very recent solo series and plenty of nice art and Ororo to enjoy.

Ororo: Before the Storm - very easy read - might be useful to start here

House of M - Scarlet Witch makes the universe alternate. Unsurprisingly, Storm is Princess of Kenya

Black Panther Vol. 4, 5 and 6 - Storm’s always around, if you like the two together, its worth a read

Astonishing X-Men #25-35 (collected as Ghost Box and Exogenetic) - some GREAT storm ass-kicking here

Avengers Vol. 4 #19-25 - Storm as an Avenger? Yes please.

Fantastic Four Vol. 1 #544-550 - Storm and Black Panther replace Mr. Fantastic and Sue Storm (who decide to take a break from the FF to work on their marriage)

Avengers vs. X-Men - Important Storm and Black Panther marriage point, that’s all I’m saying to keep it spoiler-free

Most of X-Men Vol. 3 - Ororo’s such a prominent x-member, it’s hard to find issues where she doesn’t show up

X-Men Vol. 4 - an all girl x-team led by Storm you say? Sign me up.

And, if you want to follow her current activity, the team she’s now a member of is X-Men: Gold Vol. 2  (I believe this series and Black Panther Vol. 6 - previously mentioned - are the only two series going with Storm in at the moment. I could be wrong)

Oh and, just for fun, the one-off Amazon comic - DC and Marvel amalgamated a bunch of their characters - Storm became Princess Ororo of Themiscyra and takes on Poseidon. Pretty cool.

Note: I haven’t read all of the series above so couldn’t be as specific in some cases i.e all the Black Panther volumes and X-Men Vol. 3 & 4

Reblog your Top 5 ships of 2016

Post your Top 5 and give reasons if you want to. Ok so I’ll get ball rolling…

5. Peridot x Lapis Lazuli aka LAPIDOT (Steven Universe)

Damn this show has given us a lot of ships but these 2 aliens have given me the most joy in the show thus far. Both of these characters were technically villains at some point in the series (I mean remember when Lapis tried to drown Connie and Steven?) and I always love a good redemption arc but to add potential romance to the mix is always a winner in my book. When the two become roommates Lapis still holds a grudge towards Peri but our favourite space dorito never gives up in trying to make Lapis her friend. Fast forward a few episodes and they have made a home together, they make art together, they nerd out over a Canadian teen drama and now they even have a pet Pumpkin Dog. Steven Universe already has a canon gay couple with Ruby and Sapphire so why not make Lapidot canon? Come on Cartoon Network make 2017 Lapidot’s year!

4. Lincoln Loud x Ronnie-Ann Santiago (The Loud House)

The Loud House was the most pleasant surprise of 2016 for me and a return to form for Nick Toons but this old school peanuts inspired cartoon didn’t just give us a 90s style family sitcom it also gave me one of my favourite ships of the year; Lincoln and Ronnie Ann. Ok so we’ve all seen the school bully likes the protagonist scenario in other shows but it’s rare that the protagonist is so enamoured from the start of the series. The first mention of Ronnie Ann is during a episode when Lincoln is trying to hide the fact that he’s being bullied from his 10 over protective sisters but as soon as they learn it’s a girl they freak out; because everyone knows when a girl bullies a guy she has a crush (Apparently?) and they encourage him to go kiss her which subsequently earns him a black eye from Ronnie Anne (Ah young love)

Throughout the series from this point they have this strange secret relationship as not to lose face amongst friends but they also have some sweet moments, a nice shipping surprise and well worth your support.

3. Poe Dameron x Finn (Star Wars: The Force Awakens)

Ok before you jump down my throat yes I know the Force Awakens came out in December 2015 but this ship really didn’t gain any traction until 2016. Let’s think about the 2 parts of this ship on one hand Poe; charismatic, dashing and all round nice guy. And other hand we have Finn; conflicted, brave and wants a new life. True Finn uses Poe to escape the First Order but in the brief time these two share on screen there is great chemistry between these two plus Poe is the one who gave Finn his name instead of a number. And who can forget this…

2. Mike X Eleven (Stranger Things)

I don’t have a lot a reasons for this one just the fact that they’re cute and if it weren’t for the tremendous performances of these child actors I would never believe in this ship.

1. Nick x Judy AKA WildeHopps (Zootopia)

Was there ever any doubt to what my number one choice would be? This ship works so well nearly everyone who watched Zootopia wondered what Nick and Judy’s baby would look like…wait was that just me? The endless flirting between the two just blows wind into the sails of this ship and it isn’t just a simple disney romance. Judy messes up and really hurts Nick and are both heartbroken by what happened and it isn’t fixed on the same day, they are apart for months and the emotional fallout can still be felt between them. They care for each other, they save each other on more than one occasion and they compliment one another’s personalities. And even after the bad guy is caught, after the city saved and Nick becomes a cop do we get the fairytale romantic ending…NO! We get a goddamn tease but maybe this tease was a good thing because it forged an entire communty to draw fan art, animate short films, write fan fiction and voice in audio dramas. This is not just the best ship of 2016 because of how amazing Nick and Judy are together but because it was the foundation of a fandom.

Leaving the timestamps to display my shame, lmao. Anyway I guess for MAJOR fights, the nebulous Krell plot (x) probably tops the list. Especially between Rex and Cody, since it’s also kind of a weird echo of Order 66 in that Rex goes rogue earlier on while Cody remains in step with the corrupt authorities longer than he should. For Fives and Echo, there’s a major learning curve in dealing with each other after Echo loses his limbs. But that probably deserves its own post. I do have some thoughts scribbled down, but it’s still a very rough draft. So I’ll move on for now. Between all the bros, there’s a lot of back-and-forth leading up to collectively accepting that their parents are kind of shitty.

But for smaller disagreements, here is a long but still very incomplete list of things that that cause the boys to bicker, squabble, argue, fight, and occasionally come to blows:
