Hamilton Characters as High School Musical Lyrics
  • Lin-Manuel writing Hamilton, probably: The "nerd" table in "Stick to the Status Quo" where they're all reading American History textbooks and Martha announces that "hip hop is my passion".
  • Hamilton: "Do the bop bop bop to the top don't ever stop."
  • Burr: "NO! NO! NO! NO! Stick to the status quo! If you wanna be cool follow one simple rule don't mess with the quo no no- stick to the status quo."
  • Laurens: *looking at Hamilton* "He makes this feel so right- should I go for it? Better shake this. Yikes."
  • Lafayette: "Crème brûlée!"
  • Hercules Mulligan: "Gotta grab it and go."
  • Washington: "Together, together, c'mon let's do this right. We're all here and speaking out in ONE. VOICE. We're gonna rock the house (and the Senate). The parties are on, now everybody make some noise come on let's scream and shout. We've arrived because we've stuck TOGETHER."
  • Eliza Act One: "And now looking in your eyes I feel in my heart, oh, the start of something new."
  • Angelica: "It's funny when you find yourself looking from the outside. I'm standing here but all I want is to be over there. [...] Cause now I have to pretend that I don't really care."
  • And Peggy: "Is that even legal?"
  • America to King George: "Rising till it lifts us up so everyone can see- we're breaking free!"
  • King George to America: "No, no, no, no! Stick to the stuff you know! It is better by far to leave things as they are don't mess with the flow no no- stick to the status quo."
  • Jefferson: "This is not what I want. This is not what I planned. And I just gotta say I do not understand. Something is really-" *shoves mic in Madison's face*
  • Madison: Something's not right?
  • Jefferson: REALLY wrong- and we've gotta get things back where they belong. We can do it!"
  • Maria: "Not a want, but a need."
  • Eliza Act Two: "I swore I knew the melody that I heard you singing. And when you smiled it made me feel like I could sing along. But then you went and changed the words, now my heart is empty. I'm only left with used-to-be's, and once upon a song."
  • Phillip: "Gotta bump the competition, blow them all away"

Things To Know about High School

So I recently graduated and I am moving to college in a matter of days and decided that it was a good time to pass on some of my pearly wisdom. This cannot apply to every school because I went to private catholic school and it was vv cliquey and stereotypical. Anyhow, lets begin.

#1 Do what makes you feel happy. This is the most important and everything will stem from this. I have done mostly everything I can and believe me I have been on both ends of the spectrum. If you love going to football games and your friends don’t >go to the game<, you will find rad folk there. If you want to be a member of the Dungeons and Dragons club but you don’t want to seem nerdy? doittt!!!!! It may seem too nerdy but believe me it’s so much damn fun, also I was a member of the d&d club and I still went to parties on the weekend so it doesn’t mean you’re a loser.

#2 If you don’t want to party you don’t have to. I spent the first three years of high school having never been to a party, it’s chill if they make you nervous, you don’t need to go to be ‘popular’ it won’t matter after you graduate anyway. (aLSO as someone people called a ‘party girl’ her senior year, the vomit makes it all not worth it it’s all fun and games until your best friend yaks in your lap >twice<)

#3 People will talk shit, it’s best if you keep in mind that they are doing it to make themselves feel better. I have been on the wrong end of a lot of rumors, I have been called both a slut and a prude all before I even had my first kiss and I have had hook-ups that have spread rumors through the entire school to try and make themselves feel better. The best thing you can do is keep your chin up. It will go away in a few days.

#4 If Advanced/College Prep Classes stress you out or are “too hard” don’t take them! You really don’t need them to get into college, I am attending one of the best STEM universities in the country and I never stepped foot inside an AP/IB classroom.

#5 Don’t let adults trick you into thinking you need to know exactly what you want to be when you grow up. When applying for colleges take into account all your interests, and look at schools that have a variety of majors, you might change your mind halfway through college and will Harvard is excellent for Law it might not be the best place for Photography >if you catch my drift<.

#6 Friends will come and they will go. It doesn’t mean that there is something ‘wrong’ with you. It just means that you weren’t a great match with that other person. Keep yourself open to new people, don’t close yourself off to one group because you think you have to.

#7 Okay this is my grandest piece of advice. I struggled with Anxiety and social issues the first two years of high school, and then my Junior year I decided to make a change. My goal >be nice to everyone< it didn’t mean I had to make friends with everyone, but it allowed me to open myself up more slowly, and I eventually found some of the greatest friends ever, and they weren’t the people I met my first day of freshman year either.

#8 This might sound weird, but if you choose to drink in high school please please please be careful about it. Learn your limits in a safe environment surrounded by people you trust before you start getting shit-faced at a strangers house. The latter is extremely dangerous and honestly I have seen bad things happen to good people because they didn’t know their limits. Start slow, try a beer one night. See how it affects you. Try a single shot the next time you’re out. Don’t down seven in one go because I can guarantee that won’t feel great.

#9 It’s okay to not have a best friend, I promise. I never had a best friend until my senior year, and it was okay, just keep yourself open to getting close with someone, it might sound difficult but it will be worth it.

#10 Finally. Make your senior year count. Do all the things you wished you had done, it sucks leaving high school with regrets. Luckily I can personally say that I don’t regret much, but I still have a few things I messed up.

Okay so there are my 10 tips for High school. Now, these can’t apply to everyone even though I wish they could, and honestly I just felt like i needed to share a little wisdom, none of this needs to be followed. I hope you read it all, if you did you’re rad.

Mijn lelijke hoofd voor gala, voordat mijn gezicht, haar en humeur werd verpest door 3 uur wachten in de keiharde regen en kou in een auto zonder dak, waardoor mijn handen paars waren.

Confession:

I had an important test one week, and I was really stressed. I needed to watch something to relax and everything I tried failed to catch my attention. Then, I remembered of a poster of a new YGO series that looked cool I had seen last year, and I thought, why not try it? Arc V hooked me from ep one, because it was everything I needed then, funny, had an interesting protag that I loved from first ep, and even if it was focused on a game I understood nothing of, I kinda learned bits of it alongside these eps. I liked basically all eps then, even the Eita ones, because it even helped me to answer a question at class(the one bit with if what happens when ice in a cup melts, I was one of the few to get it right on my physics class, and during the ep I answered it wrong like Yuya xD). I didn’t study a day that week, and, weirdly, my test grades that week were the best I had that year, I even got to top 10 students of school by grade. Sadly I caught up on it the day after the test. It was during the beginning of Synchro arc, and waiting every week is really special, even if I prefer to binge-watch it. I even started collecting the cards, since I really liked collecting pokémon ones. When arc v ends, I’ll watch the other YGO series, since I watched only DM and GX when I was really young and remember nothing from them. But I feel arc v will be my fave YGO series by the memories I have of it, how I learned of the game, started to get interested on it’s characters, and all.

Matthew Daddario For August Man Malaysia

Wikipedia says you studied business, whose ideas was that?
It never occurred to me not to go to college. At 17/18 years old, I needed to make a decision about what to study. I kind of thought that I wanted to be a doctor, but I think I was eventually scared off once I realised how long the process is before you actually achieve “doctor” status. After some consideration, I applied to the cheapest top-10 business school with the shortest application process, Indiana University, as it fit all the criteria I arbitrarily (or maybe not truly arbitrarily) applied for my college search. I think it ended up being the only school I applied to. Honestly, I was young.. I may have been winging a little. It sounds cliché, but at any top-100 (200, 300 maybe) university, you get out of it what you put into.

It also says your dad was former boss of counter-terrorism under Mayor Bloomberg. Do you feel the adage “like father, like son” applies in any capacity, or none at all?
Well, if you mean that I have been fighting terrorism my whole life, then yes. But I operate under a less fancy title. I’m more of a vigilante. I’m kidding of course. I lack the focus, dedication and incorruptibility of my father.

What was your favurtie movies and TV shwows growing up?
I have memories of watching Seinfeld in my parents’ room as a kid. I enjoyed that, but you know what’s weird? I really don’t remember. I always have trouble with the concept of “favourites”. Lots of things have merits and appeal to me. Thinking of Seinfeld, I gotta say Curb Your Enthusiasm might qualify as a favourite. And now I am thinking of Veep. I love Veep too.

What are some of the lessons from your mentors that have stayed with you even till now?
The funny thing about lessons in general is I feel people don’t really learn them when they are told. Rather, something has to happen to them and then they say, “Oh man, Mr/Ms Doe told me to expect this, they were right. I will expect this in the future.” Does that make sense?

From movies to TV, what was your actor’s process? And do you have a ritual that always helps you get into your character?
Staying calm and focused prior to scenes. Make sure I know where my character is at mentally, and that I get there. Never being tired unless it will somehow (very rare) help the scene.

Perfectionist (being your own worst critic) vs High Achiever (not worried about the details, only that you did your best). Which best describes your work ethic?
Perfection is  silly concept, because it only exists when there is a distinct set of criteria to be filled. Things are rarely like that. “I’m the perfect doctor!” What does that mean? I cure every man? I always make my patients comfortable? I have never made a misdiagnosis? See, what are the criterica? So, high archiver is more realistic. But again, achievment is relative. I could be thebest at something in one sample of people, but in another I could be a complete moron. Ideally, my work ethic wluld be defined by resetting the bar whenever I meet someone better than me at something, and then working to be better than that.

No one wants to be typecast, but what kind of role best suit your personality/style?
Superhero, space explorer, secret agent. Obviously.
