AN: I wanted to write cute logicality with hyper Patton and this happened instead. I know I should be working on other things, but this made me smile, so tadaaaaa. Thanks to @tinysidestrashcaptain for the help, I love you so much gran, you’re wonderful!
For their three year anniversary, Logan had carefully made Patton a teddy bear that said “I love you BEAR-y much”. He had also carefully chosen something that he hoped would make this anniversary the best one yet, keeping it in a small box in his pocket for the day. It had taken lots of preparation, seeing as how he’d had to learn how to sew before he could make the bear, and he’d had to make sure that his other gift was perfect before he could go through with any of the other parts of his plan, but he knew that all the work he’d put in would be worth it. Anything for Patton would always be worth it.
Having to keep Patton out of his room for the last day had proved to be quite the challenge. Patton came to his door constantly, forcing Logan to quickly hide what he was working on to keep his present secret.
He had finally finished the bear, just in time for the dinner he had planned, and he carefully hid it in one of the cabinets in the kitchen before walking to Patton’s room. He knocked on the door, and after hearing Patton’s voice say, “Come in!”, he pushed open the door and walked to the desk in which Patton was sitting. He smiled at his love, and offered a hand to help him up. The two walked shoulder to shoulder into the kitchen, where Patton’s favorite foods had been conjured by Roman at Logan’s request.
Upon seeing the meal Patton turned and wrapped his arms around Logan’s neck, whispering, “Awwww Logan! You didn’t have to do this for me, I woul-”
Logan interrupted him by saying, “You deserve only the best, my darling honeybee. Let me give that to you.” Afterwards, the two shared a gentle kiss, and once it was broken, Logan pulled out a chair for Patton. Patton giggled as he was seated, leaving Logan with a smile on his face as he pulled out the other chair at the table and sat down.
They enjoyed their meal of macaroni and cheese by candlelight, and once they had both finished, Patton moved to get up. He grabbed Logan’s hand and started pulling him towards the living room, saying, “I think a good way to end tonight would be to cuddle. Does that sound like a good idea to you?” Logan smiled as he said, “That does sound wonderful, my dearest heart. I would be delighted to cuddle with you, but maybe you would consider dancing with me instead?”
Patton’s face flushed slightly, and he nodded with a grin that never failed to make Logan’s heart skip a beat.
Logan snapped his fingers and Patton’s grin widened as “L-O-V-E” by Nat King Cole started playing. They wrapped their arms around each other, when to Patton’s surprise, Logan started softly singing along.
“L is for the way you look at me, O is for the only one I see” Logan paused in his singing to kiss the tip of Patton’s nose, causing Patton to giggle. “E is even more than anyone that you adore and love, is all that I can give to you, love is more than just a game for two.” Logan swept Patton off the ground as he sang, “Two in love can make it”, Patton joined in and sang, “Take my heart and please don’t break it!” They laughed together and harmonized, singing, “Love was made for me and you”. They swayed together for the rest of the song, and softly sang along as the volume subtly decreased. Once the song had ended, gentle piano music began softly playing in the background. Logan looked at the light of his life and said, “Patton, I have a gift for you, and I wish to give it to you now, if that’s alright with you.”
Patton gently pecked Logan on the cheek and said, “Oh, I’m so excited Lolo! I know I’ll love it.”
Logan squeezed his hands before waking over and reaching into the cabinet in which he’d hidden the bear. Once it was in his grasp, he held it behind his back and walked back over to Patton.
“Close your eyes honeybee.” Logan gently instructed, to which Patton quickly complied. Logan placed the bear in his love’s hands and told him to look. Patton’s eyes widened as he examined the animal, and he spun around, holding it close and telling Logan how much he loved it, only to complete his turn and find Logan kneeling on the floor holding a black, velvet box. He took a sharp breath and put the hand not holding the bear over his mouth.
Logan took a deep breath and opened the box. He looked Patton in the eyes and said, “Patton, I used to think myself incapable of emotions. I used to think that my only worth came from how much I could contribute to Thomas, that I was unnecessary. But you have changed that. I can now see the love in the world, the joy, the hope. I see the love that radiates from you, and it never fails to make my heart sing. You are the joy of the soul I didn’t think I had, the light of a life I once saw as meaningless. Existence without you will never be complete, and that’s why I ask this of you.” He took one more deep breath and asked, “Patton Sanders, will you marry me?”
Patton’s eyes started leaking tears as he collapsed onto Logan, crying, “Yes, yes, a thousand times yes, a million times yes, forever and always yes!” They spent the next few minutes sitting on the floor and holding each other, crying tears of happiness.
Once Patton started to nod off, Logan gently picked up his fiancé and walked them into the living room, where they spent the first night of their engagement simply loving each other.
