too small to make a difference

anonymous asked:

so ive been thinking and i feel like there is difference in guan shan's and he tian's anger if we take a closer look?? its so interesting bc they both seem quite agressive, guan shan is burning fury, blind and uncontrollable, and he hurts himself as well in the process bc his skin is too small for his emotions and he always felt too much anyway, while he tian is ice cold wrath, his rage is always pointed at the right person and he makes it hurt where it pains the most be it with words or fists

mmmmm i’m all about this, thank you very much.

i think it’s an embarrassingly common feature/metaphor in my fics to write about guan shan’s rage, and he tian’s chilling wrath. guan shan is achillean: sing, muses, of the rage of achilles, and all that epic, greek tragedian fury. the kind of thing that determines fates and lives because it’s the kind of emotion that doesn’t know how to stop? it’s almost like it’s something he carries inside himself but actually that carries him – it controls him, not the other way around. which means it could ruin him too, if he doesn’t ruin it first.

and you’re right: he tian’s calculative and cold, and guan shan isn’t used to seeing someone being able to wield that anger; he doesn’t know what it is to control it and so that scares him – he tian scares him. how could someone have so much power over something that’s so destructive? what would it be like to be angry with everything around you, and know that you could ruin it because you wanted to, and it wouldn’t have to ruin yourself in the process.

tbh, he tian’s in a hazmat suit with a flamethrower and guan shan’s running through the flames laughing.

Tips On How to Write Characters with Wings (For both fanfic writers and original content writers)

So I’ve been reading a lot of fics lately where people are either

A) Putting wings onto canon characters

B) Making OCs with wings

So I decided that, with the influx of people who are writing winged characters (and therefore the influx of errors that come with writing winged characters), I’d make a little thing to help you slap a pair of wings onto anyone!

This is also a bit personal, too, because the MC in my upcoming novel has wings!

1. Know that there are a lot of types of wings to choose from

Part of being a writer is the desire to take something (whether it be a pre-existing work or an idea in your head) and make it into your own. So, instead of just going with the classic bird wings, why not spice it up a bit? If your character is an angel, you certainly don’t have to stick to the classic depictions of angel wings. Why not give them butterfly wings or dragonfly wings?

Here’s a small list of different types of wings to choose from:

  • Bat wings
  • Beetle wings
  • Bird wings
  • Butterfly/Moth wings
  • Dragonfly wings

Note that these wings are for animals who can fly. There are also animals who can “fly” that actually glide, such as sugar gliders and flying squirrels.

Yeah, so the options are pretty limited, but feel free to make up your own kinds of wings that aren’t necessarily based on a pre-existing creature’s wings!

2. Be familiar with the anatomy of your character’s wings and their limits

If your wings are completely unique, draw them out. A diagram or picture is key when it comes to things like description. I’m not gonna tell you what everything does and give you Animal Wing Anatomy 101, that’s for you to research. Know that there are different types of wings and that they have different uses, strengths, and weaknesses.

3. Never use the full extent of your research!

Surprise, surprise!

“But wait, Maddy!” you cry, writing utensil in hand and poised to stab me. “I thought we were supposed to were supposed to show our research!”

Well, you are. Technically that’s not wrong. But, readers don’t want to know ALL of it. Over-described wings are sometimes worse than under-described wings; what sucks more than not knowing what a character’s wings look like is having to look up wing anatomy in the middle of the chapter!

Only use the most basic of vocabulary when it comes to describing the parts of the wing. Most of the time, you just have to say “bat wing” or “feathery wing” and the readers get the basic idea. (Like seriously, do you think the readers know what a dactylopatagium brevis is????? It’s a part of skin on a bat’s wing btw)

4. Don’t bring your character’s wings up only when they’re needed!!!!

Unless your character’s wings can fade away when they’re not needed, wings are a 100% real, 24/7 thing! It’s bothersome when writers mention the wings in one chapter and then only bring them up when there’s a daring escape that needs to be performed! Most of the time, I forget that the characters even have wings at all!

There is also the fact that wings aren’t all pros and no cons. If they’re functional, they’re probably big, and if they’re muscular, they’re probably bulky. If your character is clumsy, they’ll probably knock things over constantly, and if they’re not clumsy, they’ll still knock things over constantly.

Your wings are two (or four, or five, or six quintillion) extra appendages; they’re a part of your character! You don’t have to spend every second reminding the readers that they’re there, but don’t go long stretches of time without even mentioning them.

5. Your character’s wings can be a good way to indicate their mood or to provide for that little bit of description that you think you make be lacking

Why wouldn’t you want to describe the wings? I mean, you don’t want to describe every minute detail over and over again, but it’ll boost your word count a lot more than you think. They can also be used to convey your character’s feelings without explicitly telling the reader! It’s like a new set of facial expressions!

See? You can tell he’s wary and ready to fight from the movement of his wings! Also he’s crouching next to a dead body but that’s not relevant right now

Here’s a list of wing language (?) that you can incorporate into your story that will not only increase your word count, but will also add to the sustenance of your story!

During Battle
  • Bludgeon
  • Smack
  • Bat
  • Clout
  • Whack
  • Kick someone’s legs out from under them
  • Snap someones neck (only for muscular wings like bat and bird wings)
Problems that may come with having wings
  • Poke out from under blankets and let all of the cold air in
  • Stepped on
  • Get pins and needles from being folded for too long
  • Squashed on chairs/ in beds/ in crowded hallways
  • Vulnerable in battle
  • Molting (for bird wings)

Hope this helped!!!

what your moon sign says about you

the moon sign is so important.  it’s the first thing i want to mention to people learning about astrology, because although your chart is much like a jigsaw puzzle, your moon sign is one of the biggest pieces.  much like the sun sign, it makes up a vast amount of who you are.  your moon sign rules over your emotions, your impulses, and the deepest, most personal version of you.  your sun sign is who you are when you’re in your element, most comfortable, around the people you trust.  your moon sign is the inner workings of you every single day.  the decisions you make, the way you perceive your emotions, and your viewpoint on the world are all products of your moon sign.  so learn a bit about yourself!

☽ moon in aries ☾ : if your moon is in aries, you’re quite a character!  passionate, impulsive, and excitable, you are fast paced and see nothing as impossible!  you’re bound to have very strong emotions, be them good or bad, and you let them rule your every decision (though your decisions can hardly be called decisions; you just do what you want).  nothing is ever boring with a moon in aries around!
good qualities: passionate, spontaneous, ambitious, optimistic
bad qualities: impatient, moody, hot-headed, dramatic

☽ moon in taurus ☾ : if your moon is in taurus, your personality can be best described as warm.  you are affectionate, patient, and kind, and you’re a slave to routine.  you want every day to be predictable, because you’re most comfortable following a pattern!  your love for your family, close friends, and partner is gentle and unwavering, and you will stick by the people you care about through thick and thin.
good qualities: kind, loyal, frugal, fair
bad qualities: stubborn, materialistic, unforgiving

☽ moon in gemini ☾ : if your moon is in gemini you’re one of the most fast-paced moon signs.  sociable, funny, and friendly, you’re much like aries in your impulsiveness, but unlike the fire sign which is unwavering, you’re an ever-changing person.  you probably find yourself taking on traits of those around you, and constantly reinventing your style, because you can’t stand being the same person every day!
good qualities: interesting, funny, organized, intelligent
bad qualities: noncommittal, restless, rude

☽ moon in cancer ☾ : cancer moons are the most in-touch with their feelings of all the moon signs.  if your moon is in cancer, you always know what you’re feeling, and always know what the people around you are feeling as well.  you have great intuition, and that combined with your maternal nature makes you a wonderful friend, partner, and parent.
good qualities: caring, empathetic, loyal, nurturing bad qualities: pessimistic, insecure, finicky, self-absorbed

☽ moon in leo ☾ : if your moon is in leo, you’re incredibly generous. you express your emotions by giving all you can to others, especially those you love. you enjoy showering those around you in gifts, compliments, and affection, but you expect to be treated the same! you love to help others, and give some of the best advice. you feel your best when surrounded by people who care about you, and probably hate being alone.
good qualities: organized, loving, generous, responsible
bad qualities: dramatic, needy, bossy, materialistic

☽ moon in virgo ☾ : if your moon is in virgo, you’re obsessed with detail and simplicity all at once.  you like to keep a routine that’s to a t, but prefer to walk through life without doing anything incredible.  you’re happy just blending in with the crowd, and doing small things to make a difference!  you show your love in tiny gestures, like packing someone’s lunch or doing their laundry, and prefer not to get too sappy about it.  you’d rather not make a big splash about anything!
good qualities: reliable, organized, selfless
bad qualities: insecure, withdrawn, apathetic

☽ moon in libra ☾ : if your moon is in libra, you want someone by your side at all times.  you feel most comfortable when you’re in a relationship and quite insecure when you’re alone.  you usually want everything to be perfect, almost unrealistically so, and you stress a lot about the little things.  you have great social skills and likely lots of friends, and love being surrounded by them.
good qualities: adaptable, charming, sympathetic
bad qualities: overindulgent, indecisive, dependent to a fault

☽ moon in scorpio ☾ : if your moon is in scorpio, you’re intense in everything you do. from your interests to your relationships to what you eat for dinner, everything is a big deal. you probably like horror, mythology or astrology, and take great interest in the strange and the unknown. you have a constant thirst for excitement, and if there is none, you’ll create it. your presence is unmistakable.
good qualities: passionate, charismatic, ambitious, complex

bad qualities: irresponsible, flighty, rude, unreliable

☽ moon in capricorn ☾ : if you have a capricorn moon, you are an old soul. you’re practical and constantly striving for success, and you’re so driven that you’re bound to get where you want to be. emotions are not your strong suit, and many capricorn moons may remain single throughout their life, simply because they’d rather worry about themselves. reserved but not selfish, a cap moon is not very social.
good qualities: ambitious, intelligent, logical, even-tempered
bad qualities: insecure, unaffectionate, anxious

☽ moon in aquarius ☾ : if your moon is in aquarius, you march to the beat of your own drum. an aqua moon feels set apart from others, and tends to act as an outsider looking in; they don’t believe anyone can truly understand them. they’re funny, independent, and kind, and their intuition and observance makes them some of the best therapists, case workers, and even lawyers.
good qualities: independent, intuitive, idealistic, funny
bad qualities: egotistical, moody, distant

☽ moon in pisces ☾ : if you’re a pisces moon, you have incredible compassion that’s unmatched by any other sign. you identify with everyone in some way, because you have a sense of empathy and don’t struggle to walk in another’s shoes. you’re dreamy, optimistic, and romantic, and sometimes you lose touch with reality. you may be referred to as a “sponge”, because you soak up the emotions you’re surrounded by, and it’s easy for you to lose yourself in others’ problems, forgetting to take time to care for yourself first.
good qualities: empathetic, selfless, thoughtful, idealistic
bad qualities: impracticle, dependent, sensitive, may be a doormat

🌱Green Witch Tips🌱

I get a lot of asks about plants; what dried herbs to start with, what kind are good for beginners, what I would recommend new witches own, how to grow them, etc. That’s totally okay because you guys know I love helping you out but to make things easier I’m just going to talk about plants for a while, okay? Enjoy!

Let’s Start At The Beginning🌿

“What should a beginner witch have in their cabinet?”

I get asked a lot what are some good herbs or dried flowers to have for people who can’t grow their own. Just remember, it’s not necessary to have herbs in your practice, all you need to be a witch is a desire to be a witch! But these are the herbs I recommend and/or are my personal favorites.💜

  • Orange Peel - This is great for uplifting energies and bringing happiness into your life, they can help with intuition, bring prosperity and abundance, and they can help strengthen friendships and relationships. They’re loaded with Vitamin C & A, it’s a powerful antioxidant and great for relieving congestion(add it to your bath!) You can eat them, burn them, make a tea, add it to your bath, whatever you see fit!
  • Basil - This is great for bringing in money and prosperity, love, flying/astral work, exorcisms, and is great for protection. Basil has potent antioxidant, antiviral, and antimicrobial properties. It is also an anti-inflammatory.
  • Mint - Mint is probably one of my favorite healing herbs, it can help bring you strength, luck, money, and safe travels. Mint is an anti-inflammatory and an antiseptic. Ideal for treating indigestion, flatulence, varicose veins, headaches, migraines, skin irritations, rheumatism, toothache, and general fatigue.
  • Chamomile - One of my favorite meditation plants, it also aids in centering and finding peace, protection, self-love and healing! It’s great for fevers, indigestion, it works as an anti-inflammatory for wounds, and makes a good insect repellent.
  • Rosemary: It’s often used for protection, love, purification, healing, sleep, and youth. When burned it emits powerful cleansing and purifying vibrations and is used to rid a place of negativity. It provides anti-inflammation, anti-fungal, antibacterial, and antisepticproperties. And research provides ample evidence that rosemary not only improves memory, but helps fight cancer.
  • Onion: It is used for protection, exorcism, healing, money, and abundance in life. Grown in pots or in the garden they repel negative energy and evil intentions. You can cook onions to attract money and luck. Onions are high in vitamin C, a good source of fiber, and are good for regulating blood pressure.
  • Thyme: It can be used for good health, healing, sleep, courage, love, purification, psychic powers. It can be burned for good health and purification and can be used in healing spells. It can be used to help bronchitis, whooping cough, sore throat, colic, arthritis, upset stomach, stomach pain (gastritis), diarrhea, bedwetting, intestinal gas (flatulence), parasitic worm infections and skin disorders.

Growing Your Own Indoor Plants 🌿

These are what I recommend for beginners(inside) I tried to include a variety of herbs, succulents, and houseplants because I know some people prefer one of the other. This includes generic care tips like storage needed, how much light, water, etc. If you’re looking for magical plant care tips scroll down to the next category! All plants picked are cat and dog friendly.

  • Spider Plants - absorb negativity while improving both the energy and air quality of your home. They’re great for low-key daily cleansing. The pot does not need drainage, moderate sunlight, during growth water once or so a week, at adult(one year) water more frequently, during the summer do not let the soil dry out, keep it moist! Generic garden soil is fine.
  • African Violets - ruled by the planet Venus, promoting spirituality and peaceful vibrations. Their five-petaled flowers are protective and link the plant with the pentagram. Keep them in a warm location where they get plenty of light, and these darling little plants will happily bloom for you all year round. They’re roots are very fragile so over watering can definitely kill them, make sure the soil is completely dry to touch before water. They do best with soils that include peat moss or vermiculite.
  • Succulents - bringers of love and abundance and can be among the easiest of house plants to grow.  Succulents are ruled by the moon. Succulents definitely need plots that have drainage holes, the soil should be a mix of rocks and soil or just buy premade cacti soil! Water two to three times a month depending on size. Full sunlight is best!
  • Swedish or English Ivy -  are protective as well as decorative, and never more so than when trained to grow outside on house walls. Potted and brought indoors, they serve the same function, for their curious stems and leaves drive away evil and negativity from their dwelling place. They are also though to promote fidelity and fertility. Medium light, simple garden soil, they do like moss, ivy’s prefer to be on the dry side when the soil has been dry for 2-3 days then water!
  • Catnip - can bring love into the home, works for cat magic or dieties, helps promote happiness and aids in sleep/astral travel magic. It can be successfully grown on a sunny windowsill, providing you give it enough water and remember to pinch out the flowers to encourage leaf growth. You can start pinching off leaves as soon as the plant hits about 6 - 8 inches.
  • Basil - it can help steady the mind, brings happiness, love, peace, and money and protects against insanity. Keep basil in direct or medium sunlight, keep soil moist, make sure to pick the leaves regularly to encourage growth throughout the summer.
  • Lemon Balm - associated with the moon and neptune, can be used to dispel melancholy and depression, it is traditionally used for compassion, fertility, happiness, healing, longevity, love, mental health, prosperity, and divination. Lemon balm likes a steady supply of water, but good drainage is a must. The plant recovers quickly from wilt, so it’s best to err on the side of dry rather than too wet, which will encourage root rot. Any good, fast-draining potting soil will likely do.
  • Thyme(a personal favorite) - planet venus, it’s good for clairvoyance, cleansing, courage, divination, dreams, exorcism, faeries, happiness, healing, love, money, prevents nightmares, protection, psychic development, aannnddd purification. It’s a pretty useful little plant and it’s super cute if you ask me! Water completely each time but allow the pot to dry before watering again. Fertilize thyme with a weak solution of fish emulsion or liquid seaweed once a month - I swear by it! Trim off flowers and dry them for a sachet or use them in tea, bath, etc!
  • Rosemary -  It’s often used for protection, love, purification, healing, sleep, and youth. When burned it emits powerful cleansing and purifying vibrations and is used to rid a place of negativity. Same grow tips as thyme!
  • Orchid -  it can be used for elegance and beauty, concentration, strengthening memory, love, intuition, harmony, focus, and will power. I personally love having my orchids around during self love magic and glamour spells. It needs ample water but should be allowed to dry out some between watering - make sure to not over water it. Some orchids can be air plants!

Magical Tips For Growing Plants🌿

Just some tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years, some of these may not be super witchy but still definitely helpful for strong plant babies!

  • Sing or talk to your plants daily! Not only will the positive energy they receive help them grow strong, so will the more direct source of Carbon Dioxide. 💕
  • Use rain water or moon water to water your plants! You can really use any kind of water but I advise against sea water unless you boil the salt out first.
    • Bonus! Charge your water with crystals. I like to leave mine out under the moon with moss agate, clear quartz, and rose quartz to encourage growth into a strong, beautiful plant.
  • If you smoke weed, ashes are lovely to give to plants once a week, most ashes work to be honest. You can also use left over tea leaves to compost as well, you can infuse/encourage your plants with energies of the tea!
  • You can also include eggshell powder or water from when you boil eggs in your waterings once a week to help aid it’s growth.
    • I wouldn’t suggest feeding them plant food until their adults though just because it’s really simple to over feed them. But it’s okay to throw some eggshells in the beginning.
  • Sigils! Put sigils on everything, your watering can, the containers your plants are in, on the window they receive their sunlight from! Have fun, gardening is a great time to explore yourself and your craft.
  • Leave your plants under the moon to let the charge. Or when they’re in the sun let that charge them to bring energy and happiness into your home and life.
  • Leave crystals next to your plants or create little spell jar to keep in your garden. I have one of citrine, clear quartz, bay, oak, and a little love letter to Freyr because he’s my patron god and a god of nature.
  • This may sound weird but I swear my little green guys love jivin’ to music, play some and dance around with them, let them be lively and included in your life. We’ve been listening to a lot of Janis Joplin lately.
  • If your plant indoors you don’t have worms!! Oh no! Poke little holes in your soil (after their healthy sprouts) to make sure the soil isn’t compacted.
  • Understand how much space your plants are going to need.  It’s a common mistake for gardeners to get too small of pots. Research the type of roots your plants have - not all grow down some grow wide and need wider more shallow pots.
  • Look for the best place in the house for each plant, and don’t be afraid to try different locations until you find the best spot. Some plants are picky and that’s a-okay!

I hope this is able to help someone with their little green babies. Gardening can bring such joy to ones life, I hope it can for you!🌿

Summary: “Baby, we’re in your parents’ kitchen.” You muttered, squeaking softly, trying to push his arm away with both of your hands, but he just kept pressing those fingers into your core. “That’s what makes it so naughty.” He whispered against your neck before his mouth wound up back against yours.

Co-Leadership Klance Theory

So I’ve seen a few people make mention to the fact that in season three, we could possibly get two leaders in Voltron and I honestly think that could be true, based on a few things that I’ve noticed…

In the beginning of the show we saw this

Keith and Lance both saving Shiro in some way has symbolism. Keith was struggling to hold Shiro up by himself (almost like the future weight of leading the group)

And then Lance came in at the perfect time to help him, taking some of the weight off of his shoulders

Here’s another form of symbolism

They’re all lined up and working together to defeat the enemy, this is definitely showing something. But it’s mainly the colours. Is it really a coincidence that Lance and Keith are red and blue while Shiro is purple? Shiro must represent something between them, maybe what they equal together

But other than Shiro, there have been moments dropped around the show that also prove that Lance and Keith make a good team and work well together

Like for example, their bonding moment

(oh look, more purple…interesting….)

Lance literally said “We did it, we are a good team” here

And on a small side note, during some moments with Keith, Lance has been shown to be a good leader, someone that Keith needs around to help him (like with Shiro in ep 1)

This scene here when Keith was ready to run into fight without even a second thought really proves that

Lance stops him and says to think things through (giving a better plan,) which is essential when leading a group

It’s almost like they balance each other out, Keith is impulsive while Lance is decisive, making their team level-headed which is similar to Shiro’s persona (red equals danger, while blue equals calm, making purple which is a combination of both?)

Then there was this elevator scene, which I believe was more than just fan service

They literally did the impossible by getting out of there together, blatantly showing, even though they don’t always get a long

they definitely do make a good team when it counts

Here too

This is one of the best moments I’ve seen them work together. There have been others too where they put aside their differences and help one another when it’s important

And recently I’ve heard that now that Shiro’s gone, Lance is going to become more serious and show more of a leadership role, just like Keith will have to as well

And this small scene we got from the trailer shows that. They all look very serious and the stance’s may be this way to make room for everyone in the shot, but there’s just something about Lance and Keith

They both look just like Shiro here and I don’t think that’s a coincidence at all.

It’s International Asteroid Day!

There are more than 700,000 known asteroids, but how much do you know about these rocky remnants left over from the birth of our solar system 4.6 billion years ago?

Today, June 30 is International Asteroid Day. Here are some things to know about our fascinating space rubble.

1. A Place in Space

Asteroids—named by British astronomer William Herschel from the Greek expression meaning “star-like"—are rocky, airless worlds that are too small to be called planets. But what they might lack in size they certainly make up for in number: An estimated 1.1 to 1.9 million asteroids larger than 1 kilometer are in the Main Belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. And there are millions more that are smaller in size. Asteroids range in size from Vesta—the largest at about 329 miles (529 kilometers) wide—to bodies that are just a few feet across.

2. What Lies Beneath

Asteroids are generally categorized into three types: carbon-rich, silicate, or metallic, or some combination of the three. Why the different types? It all comes down to how far from the sun they formed. Some experienced high temperatures and partly melted, with iron sinking to the center and volcanic lava forced to the surface. The asteroid Vesta is one example we know of today.

3. Small Overall

If all of the asteroids were combined into a ball, they would still be much smaller than the Earth’s moon.

4. Except for a Big One

In 1801, Giuseppe Piazzi discovered the first and then-largest asteroid, Ceres, orbiting between Mars and Jupiter. Ceres is so large that it encompasses about one-fourth of the estimated total mass of all the asteroids in the asteroid belt. In 2006, its classification changed from asteroid to  as a dwarf planet.

5. Mission to a Metal World

NASA’s Psyche mission will launch in 2022 to explore an all-metal asteroid—what could be the core of an early planet—for the very first time. And in October 2021, the Lucy mission will be the first to visit Jupiter’s swarms of Trojan asteroids.

6. Near-Earth Asteroids

The term ‘near’ in near-Earth asteroid is actually a misnomer; most of these bodies do not come close to Earth at all. By definition, a near-Earth asteroid is an asteroid that comes within 28 million miles (44 million km) of Earth’s orbit. As of June 19, 2017, there are 16,209 known near-Earth asteroids, with 1,803 classified as potentially hazardous asteroids (those that could someday pose a threat to Earth).

7. Comin’ in Hot

About once a year, a car-sized asteroid hits Earth’s atmosphere, creates an impressive fireball, and burns up before reaching the surface.

8. But We’re Keeping an Eye Out

Ground-based observatories and facilities such as Pan-STARRS, the Catalina Sky Survey, and ATLAS are constantly on the hunt to detect near-Earth asteroids. NASA also has a small infrared observatory in orbit about the Earth: NEOWISE. In addition to detecting asteroids and comets, NEOWISE also characterizes these small bodies.

9. Buddy System

Roughly one-sixth of the asteroid population have a small companion moon (some even have two moons). The first discovery of an asteroid-moon system was of asteroid Ida and its moon Dactyl in 1993.

10. Earthly Visitors

Several NASA space missions have flown to and observed asteroids. The NEAR Shoemaker mission landed on asteroid Eros in 2001 and NASA’s Dawn mission was the first mission to orbit an asteroid in 2011. In 2005, the Japanese spacecraft Hayabusa landed on asteroid Itokawa. Currently, NASA’s OSIRIS-REx is en route to a near-Earth asteroid called Bennu; it will bring a small sample back to Earth for study.

Initial Thoughts: Tiger Philanthropist

This episode marked a change in the way the story in SU would be progressing from now on. Many times it’s been pointed out how the Gems are ill-equipped to be Steven’s caretakers, and how usually, they themselves are the ones for whom Steven needs to put his own needs aside.

The Gems have deep personal issues that they refused to acknowledge for a very long time, centuries in fact. Their suddenly being guardians of a teenage boy was not going to make those things go away. So early Steven spent a lot of time being ignored and left behind. It’s a fact he brings up in Rocknaldo. While we’ve been analysing it and pointing it out, it’s more than clear that Steven has been aware of it himself.

As the Gems engaged with him more, he found himself in the middle of meltdowns, arguments, and panic attacks. And we’ve seen how having to put aside how he feels has worn him down and given him issues of his own, about never being a good enough Crystal Gem, and never matching up to Rose.

These feelings culminated in the latest Steven Bomb (Bomb 5), when Steven decides to put his feelings first and refuse to listen to the Gems, instead seeking out Blue Diamond. What he realises is that doing to Greg and the Gems exactly what the Gems did to him was not going to make things better.

But I think it was a wake-up call for the senior Crystal Gems as well. Their becoming more accommodating of Steven has been a long, slow process. In this episode, Steven actually feels comfortable enough to tell Amethyst how he felt about wrestling, that he disagreed with her decision to quit, or at least the way she quit.

And that’s something relatively new, because Steven doesn’t often talk about how he feels when he’s with the Gems. Instead of making light of it, Amethyst engages him on the same level. She tells him about wrestling’s personal relevance to her at a particular stage in her life.

When Steven goes back to the ring, we expect he can take down human beings easily. When Amethyst appears, we know it’s not to save the day. That is how much our expectations of the characters changed. It’s a far cry from season one in which we believed Steven couldn’t defend himself.

Contrast to episodes like Joking Victim, Amethyst didn’t just stand by and let things happen. She washed her hands of wrestling but went back because part of her knew Steven had unfinished business. And she put aside her own desire to quit so that Steven could have closure.

I would say they end the match on their terms, together. Wrestling was never about feeling like he was good enough. His reason for doing it was to spend time with Amethyst. He was hurt because she decided on quitting without telling him, as if those memories didn’t matter.

In a turn of events, it is Amethyst, not Steven, who makes the speech that says exactly those things. In what I hope becomes a more common occurrence, someone who cares about Steven pre-empts how he feels instead of his having to do it the other way around all the time.

What Amethyst gave him was assurance that the memories he treasured of their being together meant something to her too. And it implied that finding something else to do was always going to be an option. Wrestling had gone stale for them, but their relationship did not.

I’m glad this kind of shift occurred in a daily life type of episode. It is small acts that people decide to do every day that make them who they are. Becoming a totally different person in a dangerous or extreme moment loses the meaning of the act if only because the change is not as organic and nothing sustains it after the adrenaline fades.

I hope that this shift continues on. It was one thing to begin to care about Steven, but I find it significant that the Gems are also learning how to care about Steven, because it does make a difference.

Tips for young trans boys going on HRT [From two dudes already going through it]

Ok so since not everyone is actually fortunate enough to go through an actual Gender Service, I’m going to write some Will and Probably Won’t things that come with going on T. For ref, I’ve been on T a year and my bf has been on for two. Let’s start;

Won’t:

You’ll wake up one day and sound like Morgan Freeman.

Will:

Going on T will deepen your voice.

For some people it may happen quite suddenly, for others gradually. Most likely you’ll sound like you have a bad cold for a while and then it’ll even out and be different. If you like to sing, be aware of voice cracks and suddenly being unable to sing as high as you used to. Some guys get lucky and still retain singing prowess, but be aware there’s a high chance you won’t.

Each person’s vocal change is different. My voice cracked literally after the first injection, whilst my bf had to wait a while for changes. Don’t be worried if it appears your voice isn’t changing and be aware it may not go incredibly deep. It will probably be more noticeable to others than you and eventually it’ll feel like your normal voice. Your pets will recognise your voice, they will always come to know you.

Won’t:

Face shape will change drastically to become more masculine.

Will:

After a while on T, you may experience some change in face and body shape.

A lot of trans boys I know seem to believe they’ll wake up one day and just have the perfect masc face. Everyone is different, I can’t stress this enough. You may experience a huge change in the face, you may experience almost nothing. My bf always had a very round ‘moon’ face and his cheeks have started to slim down but his facial shape is more or less the same. As for myself I’ve not noticed anything too considerable yet.

The same goes for the broadening of the shoulders. If you’re very slender to begin with, you’re probably never going to be Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, but you might experience some changes. Again, don’t be disheartened, everyone is different.

Won’t:

The fat in your breasts will break down from going on T and make you look a lot more flat, if your chest is small you may not even have to wear a binder.

Will:

If you have A cups, then maybe the breakdown that happens with T will mean you don’t have to bind. However, the breakdown from T alone is very small unless you’re on it for years. Also be aware that a lot of the fat in your body in general is going to start focusing on your stomach. It’ll become easier to gain muscle once on T, but if you don’t exercise, the weight you lose from other areas will go to your stomach. But also, muscle weighs more than fat, remember that. You may drop clothing sizes, which can be a pain if you’re already quite small and have trouble finding masc clothes to fit you, trust me I know.

Also a note on binders: Do not use bandages or cheap binders. Do not. Binders can cause damage after prolonged use when you’re using a proper binder nevermind anything else. Bandages are made to contract and not let in moisture, they are not good for being tight around the chest! Cheap binders are also usually not breathable and will hurt more than they should! It could cost a lot, but forking out for a proper binder from places like lesloveboat is really going to be worth it. There is the sports bra method if you can’t get a binder because you’re not Out yet and couldn’t justify getting a binder to your parents etc but even then it’s not as safe as a proper binder.

Any binder shouldn’t be worn for longer than recommended, and will most likely rub especially when the T starts to make you sweat more. There’s also going to be an increase in acne on the chest around where the binder fits. If your chest ever really starts to hurt, find somewhere to take the binder off. I don’t care where you are, if you’re getting huge chest pains, take the damn thing off. If you damage yourself the chance of being able to get surgery reduces drastically, not to mention a whole lot of health problems you don’t want to deal with. It’s harsh, but it’s a lot better for you. Get a binder in the next size up and try again.

Won’t:

My periods will stop immediately and I’ll never have them again.

Will:

Eventually your periods will stop, though you may spot occasionally whilst you still have the necessary organs.

Though everyone is different, don’t be disheartened if you still have a period or two after starting T, you’ll stop eventually. You could also go a while without a period and then spot before stopping again. If the spotting continues for a while, or if you start to experience severe cramping, go and see a doctor

Won’t:

I’m going to get angry and aggressive a lot when on T!

Will:

Your emotions will be doing a whole lot of different things. Your may get angry, and you may also find your sex drive increases. You might also get upset more often or at things that never upset you before, or aren’t necessarily sad. I cried listening to that Chick Chick song, it’s ridiculous. It won’t last forever, be patient with yourself, there’s nothing wrong with you it’s basically just puberty (again).

Last things -

Hair growth all depends on the person, the face being the last place that will probably grow hair and even then you’ll probably only have a tiny fluff for a long time, unless you’re lucky. My bf is experiencing hair in places now that I started growing extremely quickly right away. It could be to do with my having dark hair and him being a redhead tbh. But you will grow hair, all over. All over. Be prepared for that. You will get hair in places you never had much if any hair before. I have hair on my chest now. Not a whole lot but it’s there. The stomach is another hotspot for hair growth on T.

You will get acne, you will start to stink, sweat more and you may get growing pains. Look up Male Puberty, seriously, it’ll give you a good idea of some of the stuff that will start happening to you. Until your hormones calm down, your acne will not ultimately improve even with skincare. If you’re under 21, you might grow a little and the pains will be considerable. I gained like maybe an inch so I’m still short af but that’s something.

Your clit will start to get bigger. I know talking about the female genitalia we have is a big dysphoria bomb for a lot of us, but you need to read this. Your clit will get bigger, maybe considerably, maybe so much that the lips won’t hide it any more (if they ever did). It will rub against your underwear and/or your packer. For me it’s just mildly irritating, though for my bf it actually hurts (stings) him. It will be really sensitive either way. Be aware of that.

Some people you don’t see every day or aren’t very close to may not recognise you when considerable changes occur. Use this to your advantage! Reintroduce yourself!

If you self-inject, be prepared to mess up. There will be pain, swelling and bruising. If you have a nurse to inject you (like we do) there’s a change that they too might occasionally catch a nerve and you may bruise. Do not inject directly into a vein.

It’s perfectly fine to cry because of growing pains, pain from rubbing etc. You can be a man and still cry and complain but at least be aware of what to expect.

Most changes will be so gradual that you’ll never look in the mirror and see a stranger, it’ll be like this was always the way you were.

If you do however, start to become really distressed by the changes or start to see nothing but a stranger in the mirror, please reconsider whether HRT is the right thing for you. The last thing you want is to be stuck with changes that are actually distressing you. It’s ok if you thought you wanted/needed this but then realised you didn’t/don’t.

Last (gosh this was long). Every guy is different. Some changes come fast, some don’t. Some may be huge changes and some only small. Don’t compare yourself to other trans guys especially your own friends/loved ones. Every guy is different, be proud of your changes as they come and don’t let anyone bring you down just because those changes aren’t ~*significant*~  to them.

A PLAY ABOUT MAN'S SEARCH FOR MEANING IN TWO ACTS

ACT I

Cat, a lifeform specialized in detecting small prey animals and catching them: *sees a mouse, chases it, catches, eats it*
Human: “Wow evolution has made such a great hunter, look at it! Amazing!”

Cat: *sees a laser pointer dot, frantically tries to catch it but cannot, as it is just light*
Human: “lol too optimised for wanting to catch things am I right”

***

ACT II

Human, a lifeform specialized in using and making tools and seeing if tools are good for different tasks: *sees a knife* “Aha! Someone made this sharp tool to cut things. I see, it’s really good for that!”

Human: *looks at his own body* “Who made this?? What were they thinking? There’s some bigger hidden meaning behind this right? What am I made for… What is the purpose of my mortal life? Am I good? Am I bad? Is there a God? I keep looking for my destiny but alas, I can’t figure it out….”

Here’s an attempt to demonstrate how i color skin.  it’s quite basic, but hopefully it will help anon, and anyone else who’s curious!  for anyone who doesn’t know i use manga studio ex 5.  please click on each image for the caption!

some basic tips:

1. don’t shade with grey or black.  it looks awful.  i go for purple/blue-ish hues for shadows.

2, vary your hues.  if you stay in the same part of the color wheel things look very flat and lifeless.  there are a million tutorials out there for this that show/explain it better than i ever could.  i don’t have any examples to link but they’re easy to find.

that’s sort of it, i hope this was helpful.  i’m crap at explaining things.  a new computer is on my list of things to get when i move, so hopefully i’ll be able to record speed paints and stream - seeing things live is better imo.

I know that everyone has been theorizing on what the different personalities would be like if they stayed in each other’s rooms for too long but. Imagine it not necessarily being a bad thing.

Logan overworks himself and Patton decides to take him to his room for awhile. Logan doesn’t feel as overwhelmed, he laughs more, he actually makes jokes and doesn’t immediately regret it. Patton’s room, in small doses, could be very beneficial if one of them is having a bad day.

Sometimes being autistic is really hard.

Sometimes it hurts so much to not be able to socialize like other people. To watch yourself fail again and again.

Sometimes it really sucks to miss social cues and not get jokes and not be able to relate to other people.

Sometimes the world is too loud and too bright and too much and everything sucks.

Sometimes it might seem like being autistic is a curse

It’s ok to feel this way sometimes. It’s ok to let yourself feel the pain of feeling like an outsider all the time. It’s ok to feel the hurt of not being able to relate. It’s ok to feel the struggle of living in a world that is too much.

But it’s important to pick yourself back up and remember that being autistic isn’t a curse or a bad thing. While there are aspects of being autistic that can be really tough in this ableist society we live in, there are so many beautiful aspects of being autistic.

Autism allows us to think in different ways from neurotypicals. We’re able to find solutions and ideas that others wouldn’t.

Autism allows us to experience the beauty of the world so much more intensely. We can find the exquisite beauty in such small things others would miss.

Autism makes us different and that’s a good thing. We may not always fit in with people, but when we find the right people we can be fierce and loyal and great friends.

Autism gives us a different way of communicating that is just as valid as neurotypical communication. Whether you are speak with your mouth, type out your thoughts, sign your words, or any other way of communicating, it is beautiful and good. People who won’t listen to your communication are the problem not your communication.

Autism has good aspects and bad aspects just like every other neurotype.

It’s ok to feel bad about being autistic sometimes, but it’s important to remember all the good that comes with it as well.

You are unique. You are beautiful. You are valid. You are loved.

Live proudly

Live radically

Live autisticly

My life really took a turn for the better once I embraced casual witchcraft.

I spent so long thinking I had to do these big spells, or sachets, or build up all these fancy ingredients for one thing– and I do do those, when it’s necessary, but it isn’t the witchcraft that really brightens up my life. The magic that makes me happy is what I put into the bread I bake, the tea I brew, the words I write, the jewelry I craft. Just a little bit goes a long way. It’s much easier to feel the difference of a lot of small things than one big thing.

Embrace casual witchcraft. Don’t push yourself too hard. Just do.

Headcannons I have on the Archeron’s Sisters about their appearance.

  • Feyre is taller them her sisters, though all of them are tall;
  • If they had childhood pictures, until age of 5 or 6, would be impossible to tell if it was Nesta or Feyre in the pictures, they had the same feaures, eyes and hair tone;
  • Between the three of them, Elain has the most golden hair due the time she spent outside, gardening;
  • Feyre’s eyes are more blue than Nesta’s, but both resemble their mother;
  • Elain is skinnier than both her sisters, her body structure slim, while Feyre has more curves and Nesta has the biggest breasts (that she properly hides with modest cleavages);
  • Nesta’s hair falls past her shoulders, but doesn’t reach the middle of her waist as Feyre’s or Elain’s, because her strands are too thin and straight and the softer wind can make her look like a disheveled lion;
  • Feyre had the darker hair of them, maybe one tone or two, but after living in Velaris, walking and training in the sun, Nesta earned the darker hair title;
  • They always had different clothing preferences, but, when they were small, both Elain and Feyre used to try Nesta’s dresses when she wasn’t in home, just because they liked their bigger sister’s clothes more;
  • Nesta doesn’t enjoy accessories and doesn’t keep personal jewelry of any kind;
  • Elain prefer light tones in her dresses, shades of pink or green are her favorites and she never wore pants in her life (while Feyre love pants!);
  • Nesta could live only using blue tones for her whole life and maybe some red, just a touch of red, in special occasions, powerful, vibrant red (Cassian’s siphons red);
  • Feyre is physically stronger than her sisters, since she is the only one with training, looking more athletic;
  • The three of them have high cheekbones and well-aligned teeth, with full lips. When one of them smile intensely, their eyes close a little in the edges, though it hasn’t been seen happening with Nesta since childhood.
