too many things i want to make

anonymous asked:

is there any information u would consider relevant to know for the wonderwoman movie?

i’m not going to assume too many (and sometimes obvious) specifics because the movie may have chosen to interpret them differently to fit the overall universe and i don’t want to confuse you further, but some of the things i don’t think will change substantially:

  • *the DCEU version of wonder woman is apparently following her new 52 origins which means that, unlike her pre-flashpoint origins where she was made out of clay, here she’s the daughter of the olympian god zeus and the queen of amazons hippolyta. that makes her a demi-god and explains her ability to still kick around in the modern timeline
  • her lasso of truth has the ability to not only make you speak the truth but see it yourself, understand and sometimes accept it too, effectively rendering bad guys useless if they have a conscience. it was made by the god hephaestus and it’s completely indestructible
  • diana’s iconic bracelets are actually steel cuffs that all amazons wear as a reminder of the time they were enslaved by hercules to show they remember and won’t ever be subjected to such or any oppression ever again. it’s occassionally been said that diana’s, specifically, are made out of part of zeus’s shield and/or that they have the abilitiy to contain her true power so she doesn’t completely wreck her opponents. it’s why we sometimes see her in the comics take them off if the danger is too high and she needs to end the threat immediately
  • she has a myriad of powers than can even rival superman’s, and they were primarly given to her by the ancient greek gods who are patrons to the amazons and paradise island/themyscira (the ones that aren’t complete dicks, anyway)
  • steve trevor is considered to be the link between the amazons and man’s world because he was the first one to, after a very long time, show up on paradise island, largely later helping diana settle in our world. it also helped that he wasn’t a douchebag so thank you steve
  • let me make clear that the amazons had absolutely no intentions of interacting with man’s world ever again since hercules and his men had completely broken their trust by pretending to come in peace and then subjugating them. they consider us lost, dangerous and to be disregarded. queen hippolyta continued being weary even after diana proved that we might not suck so bad
  • she’s funny. unintentionally at first because she had no idea how anything here worked, but later too, because she’s too clever not to pick up some good puns along the way
  • she’s kind and gentle but she values truth above all else so she will sometimes go to extremes to get it if it’s important
  • she’s (and will be in the films too) a founding member of the justice league which means she had to deal with batman from day one and yet she’s kept her sanity. that’s like… a plus ten in my book
  • a p p r e c i a t e   e t t a   c a n d y

*edit: some of you are making some fair points that the trailer more or less proves she will have her clay/non-flesh and blood origins that i misinterpreted from not remembering the trailer correctly. so there’s that :)

17) Who would be your ideal partner?

Well… he’d have to be funny. And kind too, that’s important. Someone who I could have deep intellectual conversations with. And someone who would never give up on me, even when I give them every reason to. I just want someone to fall in love with me and be there for me forever.

I answered 24 already so I’ll skip over to 25) What color socks are you wearing?

Today’s are pink with little pugs on them! They’re cute.

55) Most used phrase?

Probably gosh darn it. So many questionable things happen in my life but I always make sure to exclaim my shock or exhaustion in a family friendly way!

I do agree, and I myself have taken a step back and reevaluated things. I mean I never wanted to be someone who was like, 'haha fake baby's and yet... But so many things continue to not make sense. And maybe someday I'll change my opinion also. I've got a few friends who believe it is his kid. And have one who always did believe it who no longer does. It's easy to respect people's opinions. And many people choose not too. Sadly.

I don’t see myself ever changing my opinion on whether biologically the child is his or not, but I can see myself changing my opinion on whether this is going to end or not.

But I’m not there yet :)

anonymous asked:

hey quick question can you actually do magic? Like have you seen it work? I'm curious!<3

I’ve seen several things happen before that could have been written off as coincidences but yknow what, I think it’s as real as you want it to be? if you do a spell and then whatever you were trying to make happen DOES happen, then?? who’s to say you didn’t play a little part of that.

that being said I definitely have summoned rain on way too many occasions for it to have been a coincidence this is a fact and I’m stickin by it

Nothing scares Tony more than the fact that when he looks at Peter, he sees a little too much of himself.

Reckless. Eager to please. Willing to put himself on the line. All things that Tony is more than familiar with. Every time he puts on the suit, he’s reminded of this, of why he puts on the suit in the first place–to keep people safe, to try to make up for the people that he couldn’t keep safe. The headcount is far too high, too many people lost, too many he couldn’t save, too many lives that were ruined because he wasn’t stronger or didn’t get there fast enough.

Peter is a kid. He doesn’t have this hanging over his head like Tony does, and Tony doesn’t want him to.

“I was trying to be like you,” Peter says, in that desperate way people say things when they are just trying so, so hard to do the right thing. Tony’s heart clenches in his chest.

“I wanted you to be better,” he says, and the words choke him. Be better than me, he thinks. You don’t want lead-heavy baggage dragging along behind you with every step.

Peter is young, he wants to make something of himself. He wants to help. Tony is inordinately proud of him–more proud than is probably normal, why does he care so much about this kid?–but more than that, he’s scared for him.

At the end of the day, Tony knows better than anyone that he can’t protect Peter from himself.

everyone likes to assume that yoongi must not be very good at english since he hardly ever talks but does anyone notice the fact that when he does talk, his speaking is a lot more structured compared to the other members?? and also he tends to have the perfect reaction to most english statements/questions before namjoon even translates them…….. I feel like this goes for the rest of the members too. It may seem like they don’t understand, but I think that’s just because they’re nervous and in the moment they can’t really think of how to respond properly since so many people are watching them and they don’t want to make a mistake. If they actually had the luxury of taking their time to process and think of a response, they would definitely be more confident in speaking

also now that we know the boys understand more english than they let on, please be careful of the things you put on the internet out of pure ignorance……… bangtan is obviously known for their social media presence but I really fear that one day that won’t be the case due to some stupid fuck who decides it would be fun to send them a rude/sexual/inappropriate/threatening message. constant communication with their fans through social media isn’t something they’re forced to do. they literally WANT to interact with us as much as they can even though it would be so much easier to lay low and keep their personal lives private. please don’t be the reason bangtan becomes hesitant to communicate with their own fans. show some respect.

Manchester attacks

You know what pisses me off about the Manchester attacks?

It was children that were the victims.

Innocent children’s lives were taken that night.

Imagine how excited they must have been coming home from primary and their parents getting them ready for the concert.

Imagine the students that had just finished their English exam or geography exam just enjoying the music hopeful to meet their idol that night.

Or the people who travelled all over the country because it was the closest place they could book to see Ariana.

Just imagine the sheer fucking terror that they must have felt in that moment. The uncertainty that they might not see their families again. It sickens me.

It’s even worse that people are trying to use it as an excuse to justify their beliefs about people who are islamic.

The religion isn’t barrbaric and the people who practice their faith just like any other person across the world who are entitled to practice their faith isn’t the reason why this terrible event happened.

The people who take the beliefs of others and bend it to fit their own agenda are the barrbaric ones. In any religion you will find people willing to go far enough to bend the teachings of a religion to commit such vile acts so they feel justified.

What happened last night was earth breaking for everyone across the UK and I (as well as many of you) hope that this doesn’t make us weaker and that we finally stand up for ourselves and not shy away from this bullshit that is commited everyday.

Thank you to everyone that helped save everyone in that horrendous situation and to the people of Manchester willing to open their own homes and car doors to complete strangers to make sure they’re safe and that they will be reunited with their family this is an awful event and I hate to have seen too many innocent lives lost in just one night.

The same thing can be said for the terrorism that was seen in Marawi, Bangkok, and Syria.

(Boi I am so mad and so upset for everyone involved I can’t even get everything I want to say down)

There is a huge population of disabled people who do not have a diagnosis/adequate diagnosis but are still too disabled to work or attend school (or to do so full time or without major accommodations) in the current system.

I’ve been in that position before myself.

When someone tells me they are too disabled to work, that they are too exhausted or in too much pain, that they are doing their best to do many things but can’t, I believe them.

Assuming that people who do not have the sort of documentation or diagnosis that welfare agencies have acknowledged are therefore not really that disabled or are fakers is ableist bullshit.

Being poor, marginalized, having multiple disabilities or “unusual” ones, and a ton of other things make getting that kind of the kind of diagnosis and documentation welfare systems want even harder, too.

Gift giving

My aunt’s husband is a total fucking dickhead.

For some background, my mother’s family is Guyanese and mixed with Scottish, German and Amerindian, but mainly look black. My mother married a white Irish man (my dad) and I came out looking super duper pale with blue eyes and blonde hair. My brothers are both much darker because being biracial means getting a grabbag of genes.

My aunt (my mother’s sister) married a Nigerian immigrant who is lazy and racist. He came over for a PhD course (which he only passed because my aunt wrote his thesis and in the thirty years since has refused to work) and his distaste at being married into the same family as a white guy has manifested in a number of ways, from telling others that my dad has shouted racial abuse at him (witnesses confirmed he absolutely did not) to refusing to even speak to me because of my skin colour.

A few years ago he was shouting about something completely false and when I told him he was wrong, he tried to physically attack me for being ‘disrespectful’ and had to be held back by my dad and uncles. He was in his fifties and I was a sixteen year old girl.

I later heard from my grandfather that after he yelled at my aunt’s husband, he (aunt’s husband) said that if he faced any consequences (like being banned from family dinners or told off again for his treatment of me) he would take my cousins, leave my aunt and go back to Nigeria.

It’s been a few years since then. I’m an adult now, and I’ve steered clear of as many holidays as possible. I didn’t want my grandfather to have to choose between protecting me and seeing my cousins again. My grandfather made it clear he was on my side and would’ve physically removed the asshole from his home, but, of course, that would result in probably never seeing my cousins again. I didnt want him to make that choice.

My grandfather died this year. It was a pretty awful illness and I spent most of my time out of work inside of the hospital with him. My dad was there too - his father-in-law was the closest he had to a father. My grandfather taught me many things. Including that you shouldn’t allow people to ruin things for you. Things like family gatherings.

Now the thing about this dude is, on top of being lazy as shit, he’s super entitled. He fully believes that he is head of the family, despite everyone hating him and ignoring him. He believes he is owed deference and respect from all. He told my aunt that since I didn’t show him respect, she and my cousins were no longer to buy my xmas presents. I haven’t received a single one from them in years. So I set my plan into motion.

I don’t get paid a lot, but I saved from October onwards. I filled the tree in my grandfather’s old house with presents, one for every person in my family - bar one.

This morning, Christmas Day, I stood under that tree with my gifts in my arms and I gave every person there a present I had spent hours picking out. I went up to each individual, passing him several times while he looked at the gifts greedily, and handed everyone something they would’ve wanted. I got to drink in the look of guilt on the faces of my cousins and my aunt as I received one solitary present (from my mother’s brother) as they received a bunch from me. It was delicious.

Finally, there was one gift left under the tree - a single envelope. It said 'for all your help looking after grandfather’. I handed it to him. Inside were return Eurostar tickets to Paris for a long weekend. “Oh!” I said. “I’ve made a mistake! That’s my extra present to [Dad]!” And indeed, there was my father’s name on the tickets. He got to see every wonderful gift I got everyone else while he received nothing - nothing from me, nothing from my brothers who hate how he treats me, nothing from my uncles who hate him and only ever gave him things because my grandfather wanted to keep the peace to continue seeing his grandkids.

The cherry on top? I received a special gift from a friend today. He bought two square feet of land for me and an aristocratic title. I am now a Lady and even though it barely means anything, my family has been pretend bowing and scraping to me while ignoring him and his demands for respect and he’s now sulking and refusing to speak to anyone.

Merry fucking Christmas, Tony.

Magical Uses For Mint

I know I say it probably way too many times, but to me, Mint is the Salt of the herb world.
Here are some of my fave things to do with it!

  • Make Mint Tea! Get a tea strainer or a small sachet bag and chop up some Mint into them. Swirl that baby around in hot, not boiling, water and add sugar if you want! This drink can be made magical by adding intent to it such as wanting protection throughout the day, or to bring luck to you!
  • T H E B A T H. (Fuck, i’m not over that meme) You can add mint to your bath to attract beauty and luck to yourself. I find Mint works well with Roses in a bath!
  • Mint Protection Jar! Find some Mint, add them leaves to a jar, fill it with some rain water or sea water and bam! Basic Protection jar! You can add other herbs or sigils to it to increase it’s power, if you want.
  • Mint plants are so easy to grow and propagate, i want 10 of them.
  • Personal Growth Spell. Find a Mint plant, get a small piece of paper and hang it off a sturdy part of the plant, ask the plant if it will let you grow with it.
  • Mint can be used in break up spells for couples that need a fresh start.
  • Some negative entities hate the smell of fresh mint.
  • Remember that Mint Tea? Add it to your mop bucket and get mopping! That Mint will cleanse your home and make it smell nice.
  • Carry a few Mint leaves in your pocket or wallet to bring good luck and prosperity.
  • Tip that my nan taught me. Hang Mint leaves over a doorway to prevent arguments.
  • Mint leaves under a pillow are said to bring prophetic dreams.
  • Mint can be used in healing spells!
Dear Liberal Feminists: The Hijab is Not Empowering

I am in Baghdad right now and I have my back to the wall as I type. I am slowly moving my laptop closer to my chest and looking around to make sure nobody else sees what I am writing. I am Iraqi. I am a woman. I am Christian. And I am not a hijabi.

Iraq, much like Iran, used to be a more secular place. The Saddam regime was brutal, but he kept Islamism in the country under control until the end when he sensed his loss of power and began turning to Islam. That is what regimes here usually do.

Liberal feminists will tell you the hijab was a response to the West. It is a defiant act against imperialism! It’s not. I am here and I promise you, the hijab is not empowering.

First, not all Iraqis are Muslim. If Islam is what unites us against imperialism, then where does that leave me? Subjugated. As a Christian and as a woman.

Second, and more importantly, women cannot reclaim our bodies by falling beneath another form of hegemony. “We do not want to submit to the Western men, and therefore we submit to the Arab men” is hardly a step forward.

Let me clarify: I do not want the Western armies in Iraq. They rape, torture, and kill Iraqi women and attempt to steal our limited resources for themselves. I do not, however, think abuse by Arab men is somehow a step in the right direction.

When Saddam fell, Iraqi men quickly searched for power. Those who did not find it are doing what emasculated men always do. They are practicing power over the women in their families.

I find it disgusting but expected that women’s clothing is always inspected. Whatever we wear, it is always the wrong thing for some people. I am not here to tell women what to wear. I am trying to dissect the idea that the hijab is empowering especially here in the Middle East.

In Iraq and in every other Middle Eastern country where the hijab is not required by law, (it is required in Iran and more extremely in Saudi Arabia), there are two specific demographics I have noticed wearing it:
1. Poor, uneducated women
2. The family members of Islamic leaders

I will focus on the first of these before moving on to the second. It is my experience that in almost every country in the world, poor and uneducated people are the most performative in their religion. When I lived in Spain, this was the case. The poor old women who walked along the beach were more devoted to their Christianity than I, a Christian from a place where my family was persecuted for it, ever was.

But both my parents are professors in biology and studied when Baghdad was the best place in the Middle East to study. None of my friends here, who are mostly Muslim, cover their hair. They come from educated families. They do not need to lean on religion.

For poor women, this is different. They are not likely to receive an education and understand from a young age they will need to depend on a husband or be a burden to the family. They often do not have jobs so if there is abuse in the household they are trapped. They have to follow the rules of men to survive, more than I do.

If these woman do not cover from a young age, they will not find a good husband. Men are close-minded and possessive and they cannot deal with a possibility other men saw such “intimate” parts of THEIR wife.

Their families pressure them to follow these rules. An uncovered woman will bring shame to the family first by revealing herself and then by not finding a good husband to provide for her. They are pressured to cover as young as eight and nine years old. Can any person that young devote themselves to an outfit for life?

Street harassment is very common in Baghdad. The few times I have been harassed when outside with hijabi women, they have blamed me for not covering. “I am Christian” I will say. “The men know that” is usually their response. The culture is so toxic that women with the hijab believe they are superior to those without it.

But materially they are inferior and they know that. In almost every case, women who do not cover are wealthier, more educated, better-employed, less-dependent on men, and live materially better lives. So what do poor, uneducated women have? Religion. I really can’t blame them.

Religion is also used as a tool by the second group I mentioned, the Islamic leaders, to unite and control the masses. Sure, your family is starving and your babies are dying from preventable diseases. But what do I offer you? Eternal life in heaven as long as you do everything I tell you in the name of God.

This makes people feel included and gives them purpose. It also creates a hierarchy in society. When men are permitted and even encouraged to oppress the women in their lives, they are more likely to follow the leaders that allow this. It makes them feel powerful. Men, especially poor men, want to feel power over something or someone.

In this way, the hijab is empowering… but only for men. It strips power away from women. It represents a society moving backwards in many ways.

Many women will tell you they choose to wear the hijab or they wear it for Allah. Once you ask questions, you will find this is less true. In almost all cases, they began wearing it at a young age (and always under eighteen) and were pressured by family.

I am hypocritical because I too perform “feminine” things because of family or society pressure. I wear my hair long even though it bothers me and I wish I could shave it off because I do not want to face society’s judgment for doing that. But at least I realize the source of this contradiction.

Western liberal feminists who praise the hijab are forgetting about the rest of us. I am terrified of a day I live in a place where covering is the law. Iraq is my home and I don’t want to leave, but sometimes I think maybe I don’t belong here especially if something like my hair can get me killed.

In every country, we need to have a larger conversation about what women say we want and what we really want. We also need to realize the broken logic of “wanting” to do something because it pleases men.

Liberal feminists: I know it is scary for you to criticize the hijab because then you have to admit some of your personal choices are actually part of your effort to serve the patriarchy. We all need to face this fact because if we don’t, we cannot get any closer to liberating ourselves.

On Fidget Spinners and Normalizing Stimming

I really don’t want to get into discourse here, and many people seem to be all on one side or the other. I think the spinners could be a good thing, but we need to watch what is going on.

We can’t say not to let nt people have spinners, because if we try to keep fidget toys to ourselves, prices stay up and stigma stays put. Not to mention some people are nd and not diagnosed with anything.

Basically, on one hand I’m really glad they are getting normalized, because then it’s easier to get fidgets when you need them without having to go through all these hoops and doubt.

However, we have to make sure it isn’t overdone. I’ve seen it compared to silly bands and tamagotchis and other fad toys that were super popular then got abandoned. Some of them have gotten banned from places because of kids being jealous of other people’s stuff and because of them being a distraction.

These Are Even More Likely To Get Banned.

Already, a few weeks into their popularity, spinners are being banned in schools. Banning fidget toys because they are “distracting” is devastating for undiagnosed neurodivergent kids. While you Might be able to add fidget toys to an accommodations letter, that requires a lot of work and a diagnosis.

On the other hand, we need to make sure they are being normalized correctly, that people understand the true purpose of these spinners and other fidget toys. Just making it normal to have a spinner doesn’t help those of us that chew, flap, rock, or spin. Most nt people have a spinner but don’t know why they even exist. They think it’s just to look cool.

Don’t get me wrong, fidget toys Do look cool, however, we need to talk about the real reasons why some people Have To fidget. Stimming is necessary for autistic people and people with ADHD, and anxiety, and many other ND things. Stimming help to regulate sensory input, to concentrate, and sometimes just for fun. We need to make sure that when we normalize spinners, we normalize not just other fidget toys too, but other ways of stimming.

We can’t have kids showing off their new spinner toys then making fun of the kids that rock and flap and chew and stim in other ways. Basically, I want ALL stimming to be normalized and accepted, not just the pretty stuff. So please, let kids have their fun with the spinner fidgets, but make sure they know why they were made in the first place.

Pro-breeding

I have been seeing way too many pro-breeding posts and replies lately and it just infuriates me beyond words.

To the people who say things like:

  • “Just buy from a reputable breeder!”
  • “Adopting isn’t for everyone!”
  • “But I want a purebred!”
  • “I don’t know what a shelter animal will be like!”

Explain to me how bringing more animals into this world is ever okay when THIS still happens every single day.

Explain to me how a “reputable breeder” makes this any better or makes this happen any less.

Explain to me how your desire for a purebred justifies this.

Explain to me why you think you’re entitled to an animal if you don’t have the patience to work with their negative traits.

Explain to me why you think their lives matter less.

The fact of the matter is, as long as we have way more animals that are abandoned and while shelters are overcrowded and are having to euthanize their animals just to make room, there is no such thing as a “reputable breeder”.

While this is still happening, all breeding is irresponsible. Spay and neuter your animals, and most importantly…

ADOPT. DON’T. SHOP.

Nalu

**warning: this was supposed to a cute quick post about Nalu but I ended up getting too deep on Natsu’s side of things woops ¯\_(ツ)_/¯*

If you ever have doubts that Natsu and Lucy love eachother in the more than a friend type of way just remember drunk Lucy gets all blushy and excited & has hearts all around her because she thought there were 2 Natsus

call me crazy but I’m pretty sure you don’t react like this to people that are just your “friends”

you don’t just get heart eyes for anyone aight like she’s so in love

also I’m not even going to began to talk about those bedroom eyes she gives natsu from time to time but here’s a post on that:
http://lucielhyung.tumblr.com/post/159011956395/get-a-significant-other

remember wayyy back when Levy and Juvia tease Lucy about liking Natsu and Lucy responds with:

then fast forward to now

like she’s not even denying that she’s head over heels for him  hello
I really feel like at this point for her she realizes that she does indeed love him

As for Natsu, for someone that is super expressive and speaks his mind, he doesn’t really show the same signs Lucy does. He hardly gets embarrassed or flustered, has no problem getting super close to Lucy’s face, or even seeing her naked except in the chapter 438 when Lucy’s towel fell off lmao he was hella caught off guard
It’s obvious that he does have a soft spot for her but is it the “more than a friend” type of way? Of course I could dig up anytime he’s been super overprotective of her, when future Lucy died and he cried, when he tried to kiss her bc Asuka was wanted them too, or even the time that him and Lucy fought Kain which people like to think is when Natsu realized he “loved her.”
but I’m only going to talk about 3 moments (realistically 1 which you’ll see but I thought the other 2 moments were kinda significant) in particular that make me believe that Natsu does see Lucy as much more than a friend:

When Natsu dug up a rainbow sakura tree for Lucy when she was sick

Ok so this moment isn’t necessarily me trying to prove Natsu was/is in love with Lucy especially since this was still in the early episodes and I’m one of the few that believes they barely even acknowledged their “feelings” once Natsu returns from his one year training mission after Tartaros
but can we just talk about how ROMANTIC this was?? and they both didn’t even realize it? Natsu straight up dug up a huge ass tree, put it on a boat, and sent it Lucy’s way because she was too sick to see them herself. when will your otp that’s actually canon ever

Natsu letting Lucy wear his scarf

OkAYY also with this one I knowww it’s just a cover and not even in the actual story BUT I still think it’s important because Mashima put it there for a reason!!
Natus’s scarf, the thing his deceased father made him, the thing he treasures so much that he neverrr has it off even when he’s swimming, the thing both Lucy and Gray made sure to get back to him because they know how much it means to him, THE THING HAPPY CALLED LUCY A MEANIE FOR BECAUSE SHE ACCIDENTALLY TOOK IT OFF WHEN SHE WAS TRYING TO KICK HIM OUT OF HER BED and now she’s wearing it
idk I feel like Mashima putting this is his way of showing us just how much their bond together has grown

When Natsu thought Lucy died

Alright so out of all the Nalu moments in the entire series I feel like this is the one where we truly see just how important Lucy is in Natsu’s life. Remember Zeref revealed that they were brothers and that if he were to die, then so would Natsu. Natsu was going to attack anyway until a crying Happy stopped him saying that he didn’t want him to die and Natsu basically agreed to temporarily retreat.
Fast forward to the moment Natsu thought Lucy was dead, he cries and then END is awakened. And the first thing he wants to do is finish off Zeref.
Natsu KNOWS that if he kills Zeref, he will die as well but at this point he doesn’t care because he thinks Lucy is dead. But really think about this. Natsu, the person that is always telling people to not give up and more importantly to LIVE, too not DIE for your friends but to LIVE for them, was basically heading into a suicide mission. way to be a hypocrite natsu lol
“You can’t stop me anymore! No one can!” that line really got to me because I feel like it just shows how hurt he was. He really didn’t care about what would happen to him anymore, where not even Gray could reach him.
He didn’t want to live in a world where Lucy didn’t exist.

A friend has been constantly telling me both on skype and in person how much she would love to see me draw Kvothe again… I wanted to be a good friend, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I was also curious myself since it has been 2 years… and oh boy. The biggest thing of those old fanarts is that I drew him way too mature for his actual age… like… he’s actually 15 in book 1? Also started reading the english version, now that I’m fluent with english by reading too many fanfics So many things like puns and lyrics, even last names got changed in the spanish version to make it work…
