Belle French Appreciation Week: Favorite Scene [x]

There’s a reckoning a-coming
And it burns beyond the grave
It’s lead inside my belly
Cause my soul has lost it’s way

Oh, lazarus, how did your debts get paid?
Oh, lazarus, why you’re so afraid?

When the fires, when the fires have surrounded you
With the hounds of hell coming after you

I’ve got blood, I’ve got Blood on my name

anonymous asked:

Yukipri!!! You must private all art please. Jeanette Hayes is stealing artwork. I don't want that rude girl stealing your work. I love your drawings and keep it up

Thank you for letting me know, but…has she stolen my art specifically? I looked her up and it looks like the first thing google has to say about her is her illustrious career in art theft, which is pretty awful.

But unfortunately, there are tons of people like her in the world, who copy and trace, and others who just repost the art itself. I know this, I do what I can to protect my art by adding watermarks and warnings, and I continue to share art in the hopes that the audience my art encounters will be better than that. It’s terrible, and sometimes when art theft’s too much I do feel like I want to just private everything and disappear.

But I don’t feel like artists like myself giving up sharing art entirely because of the premise that art theft exists is the right solution. I think calling out thiefs and letting both them and online communities know that it’s unacceptable behavior that’s better.

If you have a specific link of her (or any other thief) specifically stealing MY art, I’d appreciate if you could send it to me. I can file a copyright takedown request and most platforms will remove the offending content.

Does anyone else ever do the thing where they read too rapidly and switch out words for similar ones that create a fun new context?

Like I just skimmed the sentence, “he was a writer and a university instructor of English and creative writing” but my brain translated that to “he was a writer and an unwitting instructor of English and creative writing”, and that second sentence is so much better?

His neat handwriting read back to him: “Chai Noir”.

The dog was a big black beast—he didn’t know the breed then, nor did he particularly care, but it whined pitifully when its equally dark-haired owner paused to read a street sign. She just giggled and reached out a hand to ruffle its fur, and the giant’s tail wagged happily.

“Y/N!” You heard the Archangel Michael call out your name. “I need to ask you a favor.”

“Of course.” You nodded, eager to finally be able to help your brother. “What do you need me to do?”

“Follow me. We need to talk somewhere quiet.” He placed his hand on the small of your back and led you through a door and into someone’s heaven. The warm breeze hit your skin as the two of you sat down on a park bench.

“Is everything okay?” You asked, furrowing your eyebrows. Michael was never like this. For the few millennia that you two had been friends, Michael was always very open with everything he did or asked someone to to- at least you thought so.

“I need you to kill Lucifer.” Michael told you. “He’s been gaining too many followers and brining too many natural disasters upon the earth. Father asked me to kill him but I can’t. He is my brother.”

You placed your hand on Michael’s arm in a comforting manner. “I will kill him for you.”

“Thank you, Y/N.” He smiled at you.

“Of course.” You smiled back before disappearing to gather information on the devil.

You found him in the heart of Chicago, terrorizing a bunch of small children. His bright, blue eyes shone with mischief and his pink lips curled into a sinister smile. However, when you looked at his soft features, you couldn’t help but think how cute he was. Lucifer definitely had a boyish charm about him.

You watched from afar, taking in all of the fallen angels small habits. He always scrunched his nose when he laughed and winked when he would go around causing trouble. Your favorite though was his smile. It was something you never quite understood. His smile was calming and beautiful- something you never thought the devil could posses.

Over the weeks that you were ‘gathering information,’ you found yourself falling for the devil himself. You knew you couldn’t kill him anymore, but you also couldn’t tell Michael. After all, you did promise to kill Lucifer for him.

You sat on the park bench and placed your head in your hands contemplating what you should do. One on hand, you didn’t want to let your best friend down, but on the other, how could you kill someone that you love.

“Trouble in paradise?” You looked up to find Lucifer himself staring down at you with an amused expression plastered on his face.

You sighed and looked ahead. If he found out you were here to kill him, he would kill you for sure.

“What’s wrong, angel?” Lucifer winked.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about?” You played dumb. What else was there to do?

“Oh c'mon, I know you’re an angel just like you know I’m the devil.” He sat down next to you and placed his arm on the back of the bench. “How’s heaven?”

You knew that you had to tell him. It would be unfair if you didn’t. Besides, damned if I do, damned if I don’t, right?

“There’s something I need to tell you,” You began, taking a deep breath. “I was sent here to-”

“Kill me, I know.” Lucifer cut you off with a small smile.

“How did you…?” You started in disbelief but couldn’t find the words to continue your thought.

He shook his head laughing. “You’re not the first person that’s tried to kill me before, you know. And something tells me that you won’t be the last either.”

“Sorry,” You muttered quietly as your cheeks turned an unholy shade of red.

“Look,” He sighed, placing his hand on your cheek and turning your head slightly to look at him. “Michael’s a dick- don’t get me wrong, I still love him- but he’s a major dick, and he shouldn’t have put you in this position, or me for that matter.”

“What do you mean?” You furrowed your eyebrows.

Lucifer sighed. “He sent you to kill me, because he knew that I could never kill you.”

You felt your heart swell at his confession. “Really?” You smiled as your stomach did flips.

He cocked his head to the side ever so slightly. “Why all the excitement, angel?”

“Well, I-uh, kind of fell in love with you these past few weeks.” You admitted with a small blush.

“Feeling’s mutual, angel.” He grinned and placed a kiss on your lips.

i hope everyone will stop worrying about the charting and stop comparing them to other groups because ikon are releasing songs they like and enjoy and i know many groups don't have that privilege to do that. i'm so proud and happy of our boys!!!!!!

music is there to enjoy. Sadly, most kpop fans only care about the numbers. iKON didn’t flop. They are currently doing pretty well on charts when you take into consideration that many groups and big artists made a comeback at the same time. The MV views are rising pretty fast too and they gained many many new fans. But the most important is, they obviously had much more fun this time. They looked confident and less stressed. I feel like they genuinely enjoy this cb and don’t even care about charts. The fact that their growth is showing too when comparing the debut to the cb, just makes it worth all the wait. I’m super happy with this cb and if they win, they win. If not, it’s not the end of the world.

“Molly, I didn’t happen to call you last night did I?”
“You were nothing more than complimentary.”

anonymous asked:

Do you think that it can ever be morally justified to test on an animal? And if not, since many scientists agree that as of now there are no alternatives, what should we do? Simply not try and find cures?

I do not believe that it is morally justified to exploit animals for human gain, regardless of the context. There are an awful lot of myths surrounding animal testing, so bare with me on this. Firstly, I think that you might be assuming that the only way treatments can be developed is through animal testing. The effective drugs on the market have been tested on animals, but it does not follow that these things have been effective because they have been tested on animals. Here in the UK for example, any new drug must be tested on at least two mammals to be considered fit for market. Now, that does not mean those drugs came about because they were tested on animals, they could be (and in many cases are) the result of much more advanced and less victorian methods of testing drugs.

It is not the case that we treat diseases by testing on animals or we don’t treat them at all. There are a wealth of alternatives like en vitro, test methods and models based on human cell and tissue cultures, computerised patient-drug databases and virtual drug trials, computer models and simulations, stem cell and genetic testing methods, non-invasive imaging techniques such as MRIs and CT Scans, and micro dosing, to name a few. There are many well respected figures in the bio-medical community who do not believe animal testing is in any way helpful anymore. We have undoubtedly gained a great deal from animal testing in the past, but people like Nobel-prize winning biologist Sir Peter Medawar pointed out that we will be at a point where we can dispense with animal research altogether in as few as ten years time, and that was in 1972.

Even ignoring ethical considerations, the animal model of research is deeply flawed, 9 out of 10 drugs that pass animal tests still go on to fail or cause harm in clinical trials on humans. UK based companies like Pharmagene use human tissue exclusively, not out of any ethical considerations, but because they believe that the animal testing model is scientifically redundant. Animals do not get many of the diseases that humans do, so these diseases must be artificially induced. This simply does not give us an accurate measure of how organically caught diseases will respond to treatment, human cell tissue gives us a much more accurate picture. To use cancer as an example, Fran Visco, founder of the National Breast Cancer Coalition said, “Animals don’t reflect the reality of cancer in humans. We cure cancer in animals all the time, but not in people.”

As for the research methodology, it is widely accepted that animal experiments have serious limitations in that results in humans cannot be extrapolated from results in animals. A mixture of high dosage, artificial introduction of diseases and stress conditions of animals in confinement mean there are simply too many variables to gain reliable results. The cures that work on animals very often do not work in humans. Dr. Richard Klausner, former director of the US National Cancer Institute, points out that: “The history of cancer research has been the history of curing cancer in the mouse. We have cured mice of cancer for decades and it simply didn’t work in human beings.” So what do we actually gain from animal testing? Last year, globally, we killed 115 million animals in scientific experiments, yet the FDA approved only 35 new treatments. 115 million lives, for 35 new drugs? Does that sound like an efficient research model to you?

Today’s drug companies do the actual research with computer based and stem cell models, and are simply obliged to test on animals once that process has been completed, in many cases slowing down the process rather than helping it. For every research organisation you can name me that is testing on animals, I can link you one that is having equal or superior results using non-animal models. As one researcher puts it, we don’t use animals because it is good science, we use them “because they are cheap, easy to handle and few people care what you do to them.”I think the many people are guilty of a rather obvious confirmation bias when it comes to animal testing, including scientists. They assume because animal research has been done, that animal research is the only way it could have possibly done, with very little possible evidence to back up that claim. Animal testing is inefficient, expensive, out of date and utterly unethical.

On a personal level, I absolutely do not believe that animal lives have any less inherent value than human lives. People may believe it is perfectly okay for 115 million animals to suffer every year so long as it benefits humans, but we do not have to look very far into our own human history to see truly terrible examples of this cold, utilitarian idea in which it is acceptable for a minority to suffer for the good of the majority. The idea that some lives matter less than others has been responsible for some of the most horrific injustices in human history, and I do not believe this is an ethos that any serious thinker should entertain. I think that at this point, the only thing we still have to learn from animal testing is the depths of cruelty that humans are willing to inflict on sentient beings for our own gain.
