tonic's art

There’s a growing Charr epidemic, and it seems to be as literal as it sounds. All ‘cause one guy popped open another bottle of Endless Embiggening Tonic.

Based on all the Charr noise happening on my Twitter feed.

From left to right: Aidan Avalbane (@that-lazy-lion), Charrbui  (@buizilla), Kaiyote Ju (@beep-beepster), Edsor (@tribdinosaur), and @Bigdragonien in hand. I was taking so long with this sketch I just decided to give them sleeveless shirts instead of armor.

This should go without saying but I want to make it clear: Drake is not a good person.

Or at least he is actively trying to not be a good person. He’s complicated and I’m perfectly willing to explain it to all who ask.

Yes he’s a superhero, yes he fights bad guys and protects people, but this attitude he gives to Hair-Tonic is an attitude he gives to everyone. If you’ve seen the last short comic I did with him and paid attention to his bits of dialogue throughout this story it sort of unfolds the sort of kid this is.

So I hadn’t planned on finishing this page tonight but I was doing so well finishing off the sketched plan I did it anyway.

You do not want to know what the first sketched page of this was, it was much more abstract and less clear.

Doing this has made me realize that a lot of my issues with my first sketches is that most of the problems I have with them can be solved by expanding into multiple pages. The past three or four-ish pages and the upcoming one were probably only two or three expanded into more, which has allowed me to lay out the action better, play around with panels, and get everything i want to get in there.
