Amorphis / 70 000 Tons of Metal 2015 / Liberty of the Seas

Heh, in honour of incipient summer (and killing time while waiting for my friend) I decided to do a “top ten” collage of nice guys from my own viewpoint. Made just for fun, you know! :)

Mathias “Vreth” Lillmåns & Samuli “Skrymer” Ponsimaa (from Finntroll) Now I have to admit that I haven’t listened to Finntroll that much, but I still know these two by outward appearance. And as you know, Skrymer is an artist as well and it’s cool that he does even the cover artworks for Finntroll. But after all it's a natural thing from me to appreciate other creative people and I what I have seen from his works, I actually dig his drawing style.

Marko Paasikoski & Elias Viljanen (from Sonata Arctica) I must admit also that nowadays I haven’t been listening or following the band nearly as much as few years ago (as my musical taste has changed quite a bit) but they deserve their place in this post anyway. Yet it’s shame that Marko has cutted his hair…

Kalle “Cane” Savijärvi (from Korpiklaani) & Lauri Porra (from Stratovarius and bassist in general) + Timo Kotipelto (also from Stratovarius) Because this long curly hair looks fun and Cane has another fun trademark; his black felt hat. As for Timo, there was a time when I was a big fan of Stratovarius and I used to like him as well - so for the sake of memory, heh. :D

Tomi Joutsen (from Amorphis) Dreadlocks may not be my own cup of tea, but Tomi J actually makes them look awesome, especially when he starts to headbang. So he’s bit different from what I usually like, but definitely in a good way. Time after time I admire his powerful stage presence and the way how he can interpret the feelings in the songs. Amorphis could not have better frontman, if you ask me.

Patrik Rimmerfors (from Fejd, Swedish folkrock band) As you surely have noticed, I prefer long hair in general, but personally I tend to have a special thing for these bearded blondes. Don’t know is it that traditional association to vikings and stuff like that, but to me they usually have something intriguing in their appearance. I think that frontman of Fejd is very classic example of this kind of guy (and of course he has good voice and plays these old folk instruments very well)…

Esa Holopainen (from Amorphis) …howerer Esa wins anyway. Surprise? No. Surely he looks good, but it’s also due to some other aspects as well. What I have seen/read from the interviews, “sympathetic” is a word that would describe his presence the best. You know, he tells wise thoughts about the surrounding world and then these amusing jokes (better not to translate those puns he always makes up, heh). He appreciates nature, arts, different kinds of music… stuff like that. Of course, I don’t know him for real so I have no clue what kind of guy he really is behind his public image, but nevertheless these above-mentioned aspects make him beautiful from my viewpoint.
