BRONCOS SUSPEND EXECUTIVES TOM HECKERT AND MATT RUSSELL AFTER DUI ARRESTS - The Denver Broncos have suspended both team executives that have been charged with DUI during the offseason this summer, the Denver Post reports.

Tom Heckert, the …Broncos’ director of pro personnel, has been suspended for one month without pay, while Matt Russell, the team’s director of player personnel, has been suspended indefinitely without pay.

Heckert’s arrest happened on June 11, but didn’t become public knowledge until July 9.
Heckert registered a BAC of .162 when he was released from jail, more than two times the legal limit in Colorado.

Heckert blew the .162 when at 5:45 a.m., more than seven hours after he was arrested. It’s not known exactly what Heckert’s BAC was immediately following his arrest at 10:38 p.m. because that information was redacted from the police report.

The more severe suspension went to Russell, who registered a blood alcohol content of .246 when he was arrested, more than three times the legal limit of .08 in Colorado. Russell crashed his Toyota Tundra into a patrol car to start a chain of events that led to his arrest on July 6.

According to the police report from the incident, Russell failed a voluntary roadside sobriety exercise and told the arresting officer that he had consumed “two green drinks.”
The officer also found peppermint schnapps inside Russell’s truck. Russell, the Broncos director of player personnel, also “had no recollection of the accident,” according to an officer’s report.

According to the Post’s report, both men will be provided with alcohol rehabilitation treatment as needed. (Photo: TheDenverChannel.com)
