“That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.”
Still one of my favorite books of all time. Took me a while to realize it though. When you first read it as a homework assignment over the summer in high school, you wanna get through it as fast as possible. But reading it again as an adult and truly seeing this book for what it is, is amazing. Thank you, Harper Lee, for helping me fall in love with literature. #RIPHarperLee #ToKillAMockingbird
Day 21/100 (6/25 #tinytuesdays) : “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee. 17 x 21 mm. 🌿 Published in 1960, the novel was immediately successful, winning the Pulitzer Prize, and has become a classic of modern American literature. To date this is Lee’s only published novel, although “Go Set a Watchman” is scheduled to be published on July 14, 2015.
THIS PAINTING WILL BE UP FOR AUCTION FOR A WEEK STARTING ON 8 APRIL 2015.
In the light of the rather breathtaking news that Harper Lee’s second novel ‘Go Set A Watchman’ is to be published, I’m re-posting the cover I did for the 50th Anniversary Edition of To Kill A Mockingbird, which was completed in 2009 and published in 2010.
This is the version you haven’t seen before, with Atticus, Boo and Tom Robinson silhouetted in the background (covered by the barcode on the printed cover).
It goes without saying that for whoever gets the cover art for go Set A Watchman, it’ll be a career-defining moment.
