This is for the lovely and talented eisschirmchen because today is her birthday!! Happy birthday, darling! You are a fantastic human being, and don’t let anyone tell you differently, ever! I hope you had a wonderful day which I knew you did because of snapchat! <3
That was where Soul and Maka had decided to spend their vacation after a rough year of fighting kishins, attending witches council meetings, going to required Deathscythe parties and conventions, supervising NOT students, and demonstrating for different classes. It wasn’t their first choice for a destination when they were discussing the various places they could go to for their break. In actuality, it had all been because Patti suggested the vacation spot to them while they were have lunch with their friends. Considering neither Maka nor Soul had ever visited the well known location, they both agreed that that was where they were going to spend their week long break from work and responsibilities.
The months she spent planning the excursion with their travel agent helped to build her anticipation for the trip itself as they went through various levels of preparing. The woman Maka had hired told her everything she needed to know for a first timer: where the best places to eat were, the rides that were a must for anyone going to Disney World, and the different events that each park held. Since they were going a week before the end of the year, there were so many things to do and see, and as their departure grew closer, Maka found herself staying up just so she could watch different Disney movies. Maybe she was being a little ridiculous, but she didn’t care.
For the first time ever she was going to Disney World, and she couldn’t be more excited about it! With her father being a popular deathscythe when she was growing up, vacations were hard to come by and when they occurred, it was seldom a place that was more than two states over from Nevada. Then when her parents divorced, having any time to relax was hard to come by that trips had become obsolete. The younger side of herself that still dwelled within her was craving the time off more than anything especially when it dealt with a place she had never been to. She had only ever seen Disney World on television and read about it on various blogs; she never did have the chance to really experience it.
However, Maka soon came to realize that between her and Soul, she was the only one really excited.
Today is your 28th birthday. You, Phil Lester, turn 28 years old today, and I want to say something about this.
Firstly, you survived another year. I’m so, so proud of you. 2014 was a fantastic (or should I say phantastic– I’m sorry; couldn’t resist) year, for both you and your best friend. I hope that 2015 will be just as great, if not better.
Let me say that there is a reason why I love you. Many reasons, actually, why all of us love you. To us, each individual phangirl who’s reading this, you are one of the most beautiful human beings on this planet, and I could list a million reasons why.
For example, how many people you've saved. You didn’t even know you saved them, but you did, and that’s what’s so remarkable about your existence. But no, you didn’t save them. You helped them save themselves, just by being you. So smile, because you’ve survived another year.
What about how many horrible days you've turned into great days, for both me and so many other people? I remember those bad days, and I remember how much you made me smile when I decided to click play on a few of those videos. I remember how much you made me laugh when I thought I couldn't anymore. You know how cheesy this sounds? It’s ridiculous, yes, but it’s true. It’s true for me, and it’s true for others, as well. So smile, because you've survived another year.
What about how accepting, how friendly, how down-to-earth and caring you are? Those quotes I see all over the Internet make me so happy. So, so happy; you have no idea. You accept everyone for who they are. Regardless of race, religion, physical appearance, you love everyone equally. You love all of us equally. So smile, because you’ve survived another year.
I could go on and on, Phil. It makes me sad that I’ll never be able to hug you, or tell you any of this in person, but that doesn’t even matter to me anymore. What matters is that you’re alive and well; you and Dan. Starting from where you started; filming your first video on a black and white camera you got from a cereal box, to having your own radio show with your best friend, to hosting the Brit awards, to actually voicing cameo roles in a Disney movie.
I don’t think you can truly comprehend how incredibly proud of you all of us fans are. You have flaws, yes, but don’t we all? Your flaws are just another thing that makes you who you are. Phil Lester: the man we all adore. The accent aside, physical features aside (though you know we absolutely love the fringe), we adore you because you’re you.
So smile, because you’ve survived another year. With us. With Dan. With your family, with everyone you love, you’re in 2015, you’re 28 years old today, and you’re going to make this the best year you can possibly make it. I know you will.
So smile, because that’s what you’ve been making all of us do since the second we discovered you. Never forget that. We love you, Phil.
