Ok, I’m sure I’ve posted this before, but I couldn’t find it, and anyway I felt like it needed an airing haha

Anyway, bit of silliness, bit of fun ;D Leather top hat I made, inspired by what I tend to call a ‘voodoo aesthetic’, that kind of tribal, eclectic, grunginess. Like Tia Dalma in Pirates of the Caribbean.

Post work and all makeup (eye-liner etc) done in Photoshop.

OooooKaaaay! I haven’t logged on in what seems like ages, much less posted anything! Gosh I’m so sorry ;(

Anyway, here’s a mock add for the cologne I made. Which reminds me, I need to order some more Frankincense, the last lot I got smelt rubbish haha

Why did I call it ‘Old Monastery Cologne’? Well, it’s Frankincense scented, which is one of the things they burn in the more traditional church services and… it it seemed like a good name at the time :p I guess you’re thinking that seems like a strange thing for a young man to want to smell like, but you’d be be surprised, it smells quite good haha

Halloween costume :D This is what I wore to a costume party on Monday! Turned out to be mostly noisy kids running around, but I guess that’s what you get when you go to a party with your family haha ;D

Anyway, I made the coat; hat; and mask for a masquerade ages ago, some of you might remember it from an earlier post. So I whipped up some black breaches to go with it (rather than the white ones that originally went with the costume); some teeth out of polymer clay; and pulled out a black shirt I made a while back as well, and my look was complete. I had trouble getting the the eye liner off afterwards for some reason haha!

Anyway, bit of fun. What do you think?

p.s. Erg! My hair’s doing weird things! Surely it isn’t time to get it cut again?!

Ok, so today I decided to make some Union flag briefs! For some reason I’ve wanted some for ages, eh I don’t know, I’m a bit of an Anglophile, if you hadn’t gathered that already.

I’m not entirely happy with them, but here they are anyway. The pattern needs a little work (bit to ‘low rise’ at the moment haha) and the applique could be much neater. I think if I make another pair I’ll just stencil them, but I’ll need to get some dye rather than the fabric paint I’ve got, since that tends to make the fabric a bit stiff, not what you want ;)

I did consider just putting them on, but then thought better of it on reflecting how skinny; white; and hairy I am :p But if you have a morbid fascination; you’re feeling brave; or that’s your thing (surely not?) you can see me wearing them here.

First view of the clothes I’ve started making! Still a little clunky, but passable I suppose. The blue stripes I hand printed by sticking strips of masking tape to the fabric and then squeegeeing fabric paint over it! Terribly punk way of doing it I know, terribly me as well ;D At some point I want to invest in some proper screens. I’ve got this idea of fabric that… wait, I should keep it a secret, never mind, as you were!

Anyway, wraparound pants and little blouse. The one I’m working on now is lighter, has long sleeves and I think I might do a 2" or 3" band of shirring around the waist, ooh exciting, I know haha. These blouses I based on an old Indian cotton blouse my mother brought back from England (I think). Also, I should point out, in the front view of the blouse, it’s actually folded up, the full length is as you can see in the back view. This is, however, probably how the new one with the shirring will look. As for the wraparound pants, they’re based on some I saw while I was at uni, exploring the wardrobe department :D I’ve since discovered the design is probably Balinese in origin, although, I would imagine similar things are made in all kinds of places.

The model is my little sister, so lots of thanks to her.

Anyway, stay tuned for more as I get around to making and photographing them. Let me know what you think eh?

Ah misinterpretation...

Don’t you hate it when you’re friendly and enthusiastic about something to a girl, and she freaks out? Like you’re madly hitting on her and about to leap across the counter; through the internet; or whatever other boundary might stand between you, and passionately have your way with her!!?

Or then again, maybe I just come across as flirtatious without realizing? Or worse I am flirtations and don’t admit it to myself?! Oh the horror! Oh the social agony of it all :p

In case you’re wondering, I have pondered this conundrum many a time. Oft have I recounted a conversation or occurrence and thought, oh bother, did I say something, anything, that might have been misconstrued? Did I at any point grin oafishly? And so it goes on.

Now, probably if you’re reading this I haven’t offended you. But gosh if I have, either in this manner or some other, unforeseen fashion, I do apologize. Really I do, there is very little I hate more, than to offend; upset; hurt; or otherwise distress someone.

Hmmm, I think I let myself get a bit carried away with that didn’t I?

Gothic / vaguely vampire-esque self portrait WIP part 2. I’ve pushed the dark/light values and made the light more yellow and the shadows more blue/purple. Again, I’m not quite sure what else I’m going to do to it, it could still do with some more obvious brushwork maybe, to give it a more definitely painterly effect, sort of Rembrandt or something haha ;D

Photomanip. and digital painting done in Photoshop CS2 using a Wacom Intuos3 tablet.

I got this today from my local library for $2!!! They’re having a turn out of a lot of books because they’re joining with other libraries around Auckland city.

But anyway, this book is really rather good I seem to remember from getting it out before. I haven’t had the chance to look through it again yet, but it’s 1.5" thick and about 638 pages long :D
