Six of Crows - If I Die (No Mourners, No Funerals)

A poem that could pretty easily be a kind of grim drinking song (though it’s really more of a poem than a song at the moment), for the Dregs gang in Leigh Bardugo’s novel Six of Crows.  It’s got a bit of bravado so I guess it’s the kind of thing you’d sing the night before a big fight or something?

If I die, let the Barrel be my coffin
Wash my blood from your hands and move along
Give my body to the gutter
All my money to my mother
And my bullets to my friends when I am gone

CHORUS

My family’s a Murder
It pays back what it owes
No funerals, no wakes
No bending ‘till you break
No mourners for the Dregs except the crows

Live Free, Chapter 9: A Tale from the Past: Mike’s Story!! (3)

On Ao3

Chapter Summary: The third and final chapter of flashbacks catches us up completely with Mike’s side of the story; he meets Miss Julie (whom he’s never seen before in his life, ever), then has a rough couple of days.  It’s hard, being around the Burners.  They’re the enemy, and Mike belongs in Deluxe, and it hurts.

Live Free, Chapter 7: A Tale from the Past: Mike’s Story!! (1)

On Ao3

Chapter Summary: Mike wakes up in Deluxe, has some banter with his arch-nemesis, and gets knocked out. Mike wakes up in Deluxe. Mike would do anything for Deluxe. Mike would do anything for Mister Kane. Harley grows progressively more concerned about the consequences of his actions.

BNHA - Raise Our World

I’ve set this up like it’s a song but given that once again I cannot do actual music, it’s really technically a poem.  A poem in which I try really hard to describe the things I like about Yagi Toshinori, because his character is important to me and this seemed better than typing up the maudlin analysis post I was considering.

I would also like to add that my original intention was to make this a very low-key fandom song, something you could potentially read without knowing it was about a manga superhero, but then it turned out to be about 50% the words “All Might”, so…oops.

verse 1

When it all breaks, you break too
Come back stronger, come back stranger
Tell them to rely on you
Tell them they are safe from danger

When it all burns, you burn too
Flesh and blood and shining spirit
She will put a light in you
You will draw the people near it

Homestuck: Independence Week

On Ao3

Summary: One day, for no particular reason, Dave Strider finds himself unstuck in time and ends up messing with a dangerous criminal. From their vantage point in normal chronology, the readers boggle vacantly at his non-linear shenanigans, with only the assistance of “Items”–useful illustrations–to give them any idea what his personal order of events is. Highly experimental, may be confusing. Requires some degree of brainwork.  Are you taking notes? Jesus, get a fucking pen or something.

Spellbound: Chapter 1

(In Which an Accidental Theft Occurs, Cultures Clash, and Vengeance is Promised)

Read on Ao3

Fic Summary: Four humans enter the troll city of Allernia and promptly find themselves in more trouble than they’ve ever dealt with before; namely, twelve trolls who were trying to cast a spell and would rather not have been interrupted, thank you very fucking much. Also featuring: mysterious tattoos, magic of all sorts, made-up languages, renegade demons, bullshit magical technology, bullshit technological magic, one massive supernatural fight scene, and minor relationship drama! This story has it all! All of that stuff, not literally everything. I’m not a miracle worker.

HS AU Short Comic: The Lady Doctor

I’m not really sure about the title, but I wrote it in pen, and now it’s forever.

I’m still getting used to the short format, so the storytelling in this one is a bit messy.  In short, though, it’s a humanstuck AU about Caliborn and Calliope, very loosely based on Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.  Calliope’s parts were written with my right hand, Caliborn’s with my left.  Extra clarification for his parts can be found in full-view, since my left-handed writing is terrible.

the group prepares to enter the devil’s golf course:

Kanaya, whose topic of choice for adventure preparation is the constellations of the zodiac, looks absently up from her astrology book to say something but instead glances at the door, where a librarian is peering at them suspiciously.  Kanaya essays a little wave.

“What are all of you studying for?” asks the librarian, looking from Kanaya with her star charts, to Aradia’s symbolic flash cards, to Sollux, who’s queuing posts on all his social media sites in case they don’t come back by tomorrow at noon, and then to Vriska, who stares brazenly back while her hand adds “Knives” to a column entitled “THINGS WE MIGHT NEED” on the study room’s whiteboard.
