How did you and chey meet?

Well we went to high school together. We weren’t close or anything but we knew of each other and always saw each other. I remember exactly where her locker was and I remember purposely walking down that hallway just to see her. I thought she was so fucking beautiful. She was just one of those girls in high school who was friends with absolutely everybody. There literally wasn’t one person who didn’t like her.
2 years later/ on my nieces birthday of 2017 I had planned to go to Disney (that’s in orlando) with my whole family, which was about 2 hours away. The day of , i wasn’t feeling good and almost didn’t go. Thank god I did.
On my way to Disney a couple friends from where I live texted me asking if I wanted to go out to a club in orlando. I told them yes since I’d already be there and just to pick me up on their way to the club. What’s weird though is that , if you know me you know I’m not the type to just make plans like that randomly. My family had to trust me as they left to go back home (again 2 hours away) and dropped me off at some mall where I was waiting by myself, not to mention for me it was in the middle of no where. I was seconds away from telling my friends never mind because I didn’t feel like having to deal with that situation in case something happened and they didn’t get me and I would’ve been stranded 2 hours away with no car. But something , AND I KID YOU NOT I PUT THIS ON MY LIFE, something was telling me “what if you’re suppose to meet somebody tonight, just go and have fun.” I don’t really like clubs for the most part but something was really making me feel like I needed to go.
The start of the night/ my friends pick me up and we get to the club; we’re all shit faced by that time we got there. Later on in the night I look to my left and see Cheyanne Taylor walk in. Red body suit, black shirt, laced up sandals. Not to forget, she lives where I live, but for some reason we both ended up at the same club at the same time in the middle of nowhere. I looked at her rolled my eyes , smiling , and looked away. The feeling I got when I saw her is something I wish I could put in words. I’ve always thought she was so fucking beautiful and loved the way she presented herself but never would I have guessed she would’ve said anything to me. She comes over, the night goes on, she kisses me and after that it was just set. The rest of the night it was all my attention on her, nobody else in the club. I swear to god I fell in love with her that night. I knew she was it. I’ve never gotten that feeling before, I just knewwwww it was something different. The night later ended.
The next morning/ i remember waking up SOOO upset because I just figured what happened with her last night was a one night thing (of course being single you go out meet people, get drunk, hook up, and that be the end of it) but the feeling I got when we kissed that night, was so different than anybody else I’ve just kissed being drunk. I remember telling all my friends the day after, “yep I’m going to marry her.” I literally would feel my heart stop when I saw her name on my phone but I never knew what to say and I didn’t want to mess up so I just didn’t answer and if I did it would be hours later. With that said, we hardly texted at all but the following weekend came. We met up Friday night, January 20th and since then we haven’t slept one day apart.
I’ve never felt this way about somebody.. the fact that we were both 2 hours away from where we live, the same night, the same spot in the same place… things happen for a reason. She’s my reason.

Dead (Jeff Atkins, 13 reasons)

There had been whispers about it. Jeff wasn’t a drinker to begin with. He was always the designated driver and even when he wasn’t he never had more than two or three beers. That particular night you’d been absolutely bombarded with math and science homework. He’d begged you to come to the party with him. You’d thought about it, but declined in the end. He kissed your cheek and told you he wanted to go to breakfast in the morning and that he’d be there to pick you up at 9:30. You wouldn’t be going to breakfast. In fact the next time you saw your boyfriend it was under very different circumstances. It was six hours later in the middle of the night. He was in a body bag. He was dead. Over what they called a drunk driving accident. Jeff was deemed drunk by most everyone at the scene. Everyone except you and his mother. Of course your opinion on how it happened didn’t matter as much as the fact that he was dead, whether he’d been drunk or not. You’d gone spiraling out of control. So much so that your mother forced you to take the rest of the semester off of school, joining independent studies. It didn’t do any good. You just felt more lonely. Jeff’s presence lacked even more and there was rarely a distraction. You didn’t feel any better about him being gone by the time you had finished your time in independent studies. You felt the same as when you’d first entered independent studies, so you had no problem when it came time for you to come back to school. Still a zombie, of course, and it didn’t help that your friend Hannah Baker had committed suicide during your absence from school. You knew you looked bad. You knew you had dark circles under your eyes. You knew you’d broken out from not eating right or regularly. You knew your hair was in the bun because you hadn’t bothered to shower, turning to perfume and deodorant instead. You opened your locker, shoving your books into it, you were back at it. Everyone was in their usual spots, nothing had really changed since you’d left. Except that Jessica and Justin were no longer together. Zach had gotten dumped by your best friend after the tapes were released. He’d known too much, she said, to keep it all a secret from the people who deserved to know. He’d borderline stalked her for a while. She’d threatened to move across the country with her aunt and uncle if he didn’t leave her alone. So he did. Nothing changed with Bryce. At least not yet. The fact that he was a rapist had gotten out. You’d heard things about Bryce and girls and parties, but not about Jessica and Hannah. You hid your face in your locker as you looked at your phone. You got a text every morning from Jeff’s mother. They varied in what they said. Today’s said “hello beautiful, your mom said I could pick you up after school and we could go to the mall. We also want you to stay for dinner.” You had your license but you hadn’t wanted to drive and your parents hadn’t trusted you to drive since Jeff’s accident. You were scared of cars now. You were also scared of alcohol.
“You’re back.” You hear from behind you. You turn to see Justin Foley. There’s concern in his eyes, like he knows that there’s a great chance you don’t want to be talking to him. And that you won’t forgive him. Forgive him for staying quiet when anything but that would have been a better option. He’d stayed quiet knowing his friend had raped not only Hannah baker, who would of course go on to kill herself, but his own girlfriend.
“Yeah.” You responded, not looking up from your phone as you texted Mrs. Atkins back.
“You look good.” He smiled at you. You locked your phone and slammed your locker closed, startling Justin.
“I’ve learned to accept pity but I’ll never accept being lied to, Foley.” You looked him dead in the eyes before moving to walk away.
“Seriously, Y/N! Given the circumstances you look really good. I don’t know how many people could survive what you’ve gone through.” By the end of his message he’s just white noise and you continued to walk.
“I’m not so sure I did.” You mumbled, leaving the jock in the dust. You knew he’d been having his own struggles. Hell, he’d been having his own problems since the day he’d been born to his waste of space mother. But that boy had let himself become a bystander for rape on account of somehow owing it to his rapist friend. There was no use telling him what you thought, he knew he was in the wrong and he’d heard it a lot. Marcus smiled at you as you continued down the hall. You found yourself walking towards him.
“Hey Y/N how are y-” you cut his formalities off.
“Is Y/FN at school yet?” Marcus was quite obviously caught off guard. His words fumbled together a bit.
“Uh, well, yeah. She tends to not go through the halls a lot anymore. She avoids us a lot.” Marcus explained. He didn’t give much eye contact.
“I knew that much, thanks.” Again, you were stopped before you could walk away.
“Will you guys ever talk to me again?” Zach’s familiar voice took over.
“This is your first attempt to talk to me as far as I’m concerned.” You crossed your arms. He looked as though he was in an extreme amount of pain.
“I’ve called and texted you for months.” Zach looked at the ground.
“One text of the many was you asking about me. The rest was you trying to get to Y/FN because she blocked you on everything. Your motives were not the most selfless, Zach Dempsey. Reassess yourself and your self righteous nature.” You spun on your heels and walked out of the room. You see your best friend talking to a girl named Skye, one of the only people either of you could stand the be around in the school anymore.
“Saw you talking the some henchmen.” Skye said, staring at her fingernails, which were painted black.
“Strictly to see where you were.” Skye smiled a little. Y/FN turned and hugged you.
“I’m glad you’re back, normal is what you need right now.” She said. Once you pulled away from your best friend, you saw someone coming. Clay Jenson. Lanky, kinda dorky Clay Jenson. The Clay Jenson that brought you free candy and free movie ticket vouchers after Jeff died. But this was also, and most certainly not least, the Clay Jenson featured on the tapes. The Clay Jenson that knew girls got raped, that knew a lot about the night Jeff died. Including that it wasn’t Jeff’s fault at all. In fact, he knew he wasn’t drunk and that it was Sheri that was drunk and had caused Jeff’s death. There was a handful of people that knew it wasn’t Jeff’s fault. The people that were featured on the tapes. Clay was featured on the tapes and so was Justin and so was Marcus and so was Zach. They saw you yanked out of school for being mentally unstable and not being able to understand how Jeff did this and why he was drunk at all. There were answers, and no one gave them to you until the tapes were handed to the police. You knew when the public knew. Nothing hurt more than that. And that’s why you hated those boys. And Courtney and Jessica and Alex and Tyler and every other god forsaken person who earned themselves a tape by being an insensitive asshole.
“Hey Y/N.” You looked over at Clay, his hands were stuffed in his pockets as he stared at you nervously. You looked at him, blinked twice, and looked away.
“You look good.” Silence.
“I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry.” You can feel Clay looking at you, but you won’t look at him. There’s a short pause.
“Y/N I know I should have said something to you as soon as I knew but it was a lot more complicated than it se-” you found yourself waving your hands in the air begging him to stop speaking.
“You’re going to listen for a moment.” Clay nodded, finally able to make eye contact with you.
“Jeff and I were going to apply to all the same colleges, did he ever tell you that?” Clay nodded his head. You and Jeff had already planned on marriage. Everyone knew it.
“Did you know we were going to share an apartment right away instead of dorms?” Clay gulped, looking at the other two girls nervously.
“He talked about you constantly, Y/N.” You rolled your eyes at his words.
“People have been talking about me constantly. It’s my turn to speak.” Clay shut his mouth quickly.
“Wanna know something I’m sure you weren’t aware of?” Clay’s eyes filled with more fear by the second.
“Did you know that the day after I saw Jeff dragged away in a body bag is the day I miscarried our baby?” Clay knew he wouldn’t speak but his mouth fell open from the shock and not knowing what else to do.
“So yeah, maybe you can forgive yourself for not always being there for Hannah. And maybe Jessica will forgive Justin someday and maybe, just maybe Y/FN will give Zach another chance. But guess who doesn’t have the tools or the people to move on? Me. My boyfriend is dead and my baby is dead. And my future relies on me being a zombie through life, hopefully getting decent enough grades to shuffle through the rest of my life because there will never be someone who makes me feel and love the way Jeff did. And I’ll never be able to have a baby made up of more love. Everything will be me settling because the best of what life has to offer is quite literally dead.” The bell rings but no one moves, and everyone just looks at you as hot tears stream down your face.
“Y/FN, go tell Zach how much you still love him and how much you’re willing to fight for each other. And Skye, tell Clay how you’ve been in love with him since the sixth grade and how you’d be really pumped to go out with him. Because life’s short and sometimes even shorter than expected. No time is put on this earth to be wasted. Love each other.” You let out a shaky breath before turning and heading to English class. Jeff would be proud. In that moment you knew maybe you would be fine.

Virginity

Requested - Hi! Could you write something with Aaliyah and Y/N. Like they get along pretty well and like Aaliyah asks Y/N about losing Virginity (Y/N lost it very soon) or something like that. Thanks!

Requested - Heyy, I have an imagine request 💕 so, you’re visiting Shawn in Canada and he’s busy, so you end up spending time with Aaliyah (like take her shopping or out for milkshakes or something) and Shawn finds out and he thinks it’s really sweet and fluff fluff fluff

Your name: submit What is this?

~~~
“Baby, I’m so sorry,” Shawn says for what seems like the hundredth time as he glances over at you briefly before refocusing his eyes on the road in front of him.
“Don’t be.” You respond with a cheeky smile. “I get to drive your jeep and hang out with your sister, so it’s a win-win for me.”
“Have I told you lately that you’re the best?” He asks.
“Maybe once or twice,” you tease, a smile on your face as you genuinely appreciate this time you’re getting to spend with your boyfriend, even if it isn’t a lot. You came to Canada to visit him, but he ended up having to rehearse at the last minute, which kind of ruined your original plans for the afternoon.
The drive to his rehearsal space goes by far too quickly, and before you know it you’re driving his jeep out of the parking lot on your way to pick up Aaliyah from school. Since Shawn ended up being busy, you offered to pick up his sister from school and take her to the mall. You’ve grown really close to Aaliyah over the past year that you’ve been dating Shawn, and since you don’t have a younger sister, you take full advantage of getting to spend time with Aaliyah and play an older sister role in her life.
After a rocky year, Fifth Harmony is in control — and tighter than ever
Fifth Harmony is at a crossroads. Having lost a member in a public fallout right after the group brokeout, the girls are in full control of their sound and brand. Will they finally make it big?
By Gerrick D. Kennedy
Inside a Burbank rehearsal studio, the women of Fifth Harmony — surrounded by the thousands of album booklets they’ve autographed for fans, the most dedicated of whom are known as “Harmonizers” — are having an emoji debate.
They want to use the digital icons to accompany the online reveal of the track list for their upcoming self-titled album, due Aug. 25 via Syco Music/Epic.
Dinah Jane Hansen, 20, suggested a finger pointing downward as a clue for the album’s lead single, “Down,” but the rest weren’t as easy.
“We need to go quicker, guys,” Ally Brooke Hernandez, 24, instructed as they struggled to stifle giggles.
After all, there’s other, more important business for Fifth Harmony to convey in 2017.
“We should mention we wrote most of these,” said Normani Kordei, 21.
Co-writing and ownership of records is a first for these women — since being put together on the U.S. edition of the televised singing competition “The X Factor,” the members of Fifth Harmony, which also includes Lauren Jauregui, 21, have struggled to assert their independence and prove they’re singular artists who are not just a made-for-TV creation.
We’re so in sync, the four of us. When you have a strong unit, there’s no stopping you.
— Lauren Jauregui
That Fifth Harmony even made it to album No. 3 is something of a feat. Just a few months ago, the group was parting ways — acrimoniously — with one of its founding members as rumors of conflict hit a fever pitch.
And yet in recent weeks, the act has filmed two music videos — including a sexy, lo-fi clip for “Angel,” its new single that was produced by Skrillex and carries hip-hop-inflections — and its members are rehearsing for a tour and Fifth Harmony’s debut at the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 27.
“It’s the most monumental moment of our careers,” Kordei said. And the turnaround couldn’t have come quicker. Though the act seemed to be coming into its own with last year’s well-received release “7/27,” there was enough behind-the-scenes drama to fill a whole other reality show.
In December, the group appeared to be in crisis when it announced that singer Camila Cabello had exited just hours after a performance.
The group claims Cabello informed them via her representatives that she was out, something Cabello has rebutted.
And then things got messier.
Shortly after news of Cabello’s departure broke, a recording was leaked of Jauregui tearfully telling Hernandez that the group was being treated like “literal slaves.”
They were exhausted from touring — a period in which more than one member lost loved ones — and frustrated by a lack of creative fulfillment. From the beginning, Fifth Harmony has said that it had zero say in collaborators or the creation of its music, often receiving songs the day before studio sessions.
Often, its members say, the anxiety was crippling, and they started to resent performing. The dream of being the preeminent girl group of its generation was proving to be anything but.
We’ve been taking leaps of faiths — and trusting ourselves.
— Dinah Jane Hansen
“We lost the magic of it all,” Hansen added. “We were doing songs just to do songs.”
The magic, such as it was, began in 2012 when the thenteens entered the short-lived U.S. edition of “The X Factor” as solo contestants. They fizzled out but were then packaged as a group by Simon Cowell and then-Epic Records Chairman L.A. Reid.
Fifth Harmony took third place in the competition, scoring a joint deal with Epic Records and Cowell’s Syco Music.
Though a wave of boy bands had found recent success — including One Direction (assembled on the British version of “X Factor” — no girl group had managed to hit it big like Danity Kane, Pussycat Dolls, Destiny’s Child, the Spice Girls or TLC did in their prime.
Today, pop is dominated by assertive yet solo female artists, and Fifth Harmony risked looking like a relic from another era. And that doesn’t even consider the simple challenge of cultivating chemistry among a group of teenage girls who met on a TV show.
“When you get in a group, you have to go in understanding it’s not just about you and your ideas. It is a collaboration,” said TLC’s Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas. “When you think of [girl groups], most of them don’t stay together, because it’s not easy at all. Chemistry is something you either have or don’t have.”
Epic worked heavily to sell Fifth Harmony, keeping the group on the road constantly, often booking concerts at malls. “Every season, for 4½ years … I was a zombie,” Jauregui recalls.
From the outside, there was much to celebrate.
Fifth Harmony’s 2015 debut, “Reflection,” saw the group pick up where Destiny’s Child and TLC had left off, with an album full of slinky dance-pop and R&B/hip-hop-informed girl power anthems — with breakout single “Worth It” becoming one of the year’s biggest earworms.
The act then made history last year as the first girl group to score a top 10 Billboard Hot 100 smash in nearly a decade with the snappy “Work From Home.”
Yet the women in Fifth Harmony said they it felt burnt out and controlled by the label — like “puppets,” they agree. The women pushed though teary onstage breakdowns, infighting and family feuding.
“It came to a point where I’d catch myself onstage and realize, ‘I’m not feeling this,’” Kordei said. “It scared me, because this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.”
Today, the women are relaxed and comfortable discussing their recent history. They’re dressed in active wear — Kordei’s shirt has “Phenomenal Woman” emblazoned across it, while Jauregui is wearing the anti-discrimination top Frank Ocean recently made famous — and their faces are makeup-free.
Jauregui reflected on the stress of the past.
We’ve been grateful to have a machine behind us. But we definitely needed respect — and we had to demand it.
— Ally Brooke Hernandez
“You’re in front of so many people that you know love you,” she said. “To be in a space where you don’t connect or when you feel bored in that kinda setting …”
“You feel guilty,” Kordei offered.
“It’s overwhelming to have your whole, entire life planned for something you don’t feel passionate about,” said Jauregui, the room falling silent. “You’re not seeing your family, your friends. You’re not doing anything for yourself. It was depressing, draining and sad. Now, it’s a whole different thing.”
In fact, the members of Fifth Harmony had long been fighting for the autonomy and respect that they are only now receiving. In late 2015, Hernandez contacted outspoken L.A. music lawyer Dina LaPolt, who helped the group clean house.
LaPolt got them new management with the powerhouse firm Maverick and helped transfer the Fifth Harmony trademark from Cowell to its members, giving them complete ownership of the brand.
A more favorable contact with Epic was then negotiated, but the women still weren’t in the driver’s seat when it came to music.
Everything we’ve been through, the ups and downs, I really believe it was to shape and mold us for this moment.
— Normani Kordei
“We were 15, 16 and 19 when we started,” Jauregui said. “We didn’t have any basic understanding of business, and we’re being thrown into this world of wolves where they really screw you over with contracts. We were really in a line of adversity.”
After Cabello’s departure, the women realized they wanted to work on repairing the group’s dynamic as well as its relationship with the label in order to become more vocal about its career ambitions. “We all got on the same page … and fought for our say,” Hansen said.
A key ally was Epic A&R executive Chris Anokute, who joined their team during the recording of “7/27.”
“They were uninspired, beaten up, bruised. They weren’t gelling,” Anokute said. “You could tell there were some things going on between the girls … issues with management. They started venting their insecurities and desire to write songs, and I realized they were never a part of it.”
Anokute pushed Reid to commit to another album after the turmoil with Cabello (Reid left the label in May), bolstering the group’s confidence.
“We are being more respected this time around,” Hansen said. “We are in a place where we know what we want and who we are. We’ve recognized our truth and what we have to offer — and our power.”
I love these girls and consider them sisters. I have such high visions for us, the four of us. Everything that has come true this year has been validation.
— Ally Brooke Hernandez
Fifth Harmony finding its voice shows on the new album — its title a nod to the group’s newfound independence.
The album was recorded in seven weeks at Santa Monica’s Windmark Recording, and the women co-wrote more than half of the songs on the project — splitting into pairs and penning the type of tunes they’ve wanted to do alongside handpicked producers, including Dreamlab, the Stereotypes, Harmony Samuels, the Monsters & Strangerz and Tommy Brown.
The record is raw, soulful, sexy and fully the group’s own vision.
On a recent afternoon, the pop of a Champagne bottle echoed around a boardroom inside Epic Records’ headquarters on the Sony lot in Culver City.
Cheers, air kisses and hugs awaited the ladies as they filed into a room stuffed with label staff gathered to hear Fifth Harmony’s new album — a mountain of tacos and bottles of tequila and Champagne awaiting them.
Before the music began, acting Epic President Sylvia Rhone led the room in a toast.
“To the baddest ladies in the business — it’s a pleasure to have worked with you guys,” Rhone said, her glass of Champagne hoisted high above her head as the women looked on with glassy eyes, clutching one another’s hands.
“It finally feels like we are living our lives. We’ve taken ownership,” Kordei said. “It’s been there all along, but maybe we weren’t confident enough or bold enough. This time, we’ve got the extra fire … and we don’t care what anyone else has to say.
“I kinda wish it could have been like this all along,” Kordei said with a sigh.
Jauregui, unarguably Fifth Harmony’s most outspoken member — she’s the first to admit group members barely listen to their earlier work — takes a bolder stance.
“We would have freaking dominated,” she said.
Hi!! Can you do a BTS reaction where the boys are single dads and their child gets lost, and it's the reader who finds them and stays with them until they come back to find their child? Does that make sense ? 😂
Hello! Don’t worry, we understood what you were saying! Thank you so much for your request, sorry it took awhile for us to respond!
(We couldn’t resist making these scenarios kind of long, they were so cute! Hope you don’t mind!)
BTS Reacts To You Finding Their Lost Kid
Jungkook: You’d be wandering through the mall, looking for a new dress for your friends wedding. With the dress in the bag, you started to walk to the exit, when all of a sudden there’s a small poke on your leg. “E-excuse me, can you help me find my daddy?” “Oh! Well, um, I can try! When did you get lost?” The little boy would be looking up at you with tears in his eyes. “W-well, I told him I had to go to the bathroom, but when I came out, I didn’t know where daddy went.” You give him a friendly smile and grab ahold of his hand so you wouldn’t lose him through the mall. “Why don’t we go check the shoe store? That’s the closest thing to the bathroom. Don’t worry! We’ll find him!” With your words, the little boy cheers up. Reaching the store, you walk inside only for your ears to be filled with a little squeal from the little boy. “Daddy!” Your hand is let go as the little boy runs up to his dad, who picks him up and swings him around. “Hey there little bud! I’m sorry, I wandered off! I just thought that I should get a new pair of timberlands while we’re here!” You watch the cute scene with a big smile in your face. Jungkook notices that someone else came in with his son and walks up to you. “Thank you so much for helping my son. I really should have waited for him to come out of the bathroom.” He says, rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment. “Oh it’s fine! He was very friendly! You’re doing a great job with him. I’m Y/N, by the way.” You stick out your hand and he places his out as well. You notice how big his hands are compared to yours. Probably compared to anyone’s. “I’m Jungkook! It’s nice to meet you Y/N!” There’s a small silence before he speaks up again. “So…what’s a beautiful girl like you doing here alone?” You’re eyes widen in surprise at the sudden change in this man, before you blush. “Oh I was just getting a dress. My friend is getting married next week and I’ve been putting it off for awhile.” “Well, i’m sure it’ll look beautiful on you. Thank you again for bringing my son back!” Just as he was starting to walk away, you spoke up. “If you aren’t busy next week…would you maybe want to come with me? I don’t have a date and I’d really like to get to know you and your son more. If you don’t mind of course! Oh my gosh unless you’re seeing someone then just ignore everything I’ve said-” “I’m not seeing anyone. I’d love to accompany you!” You both exchange numbers before Jungkook heads off. With a silly grin on your face, you watch the man and his son leave, you can’t help but thank your procrastinating self for putting off getting a dress.
Jimin:  Jimin and his little boy would be walking around the amusement park, enjoying the sights and sounds of others riding the roller coasters. The sights would always take him back to when he came here with his family. Soon, the boy would tug on his dad’s hand. “Daddy! Can we get cotton candy!?” Giving his signature smile down at him, he nods his head. “Sure! What’s an amusement park without some cotton candy!” He tells the little boy to wait for him, setting him up on the bench before making his way over to the stand. When he has the sugary treat in his hand and turns around, his boy is nowhere to be found. Jimin goes into a state of panic, and starts to run around the park in search of his precious little boy. He soon spots him holding onto the hand of a beautiful girl, who is searching the crowd of faces; most likely for him. Sighing in relief, Jimin runs up to you, giving you a grateful smile while pulling the boy into a hug. “Thank god you’re safe! And thank you so much! I take my eyes off of this little guy for one minute and he runs off on an adventure!” The smile you give him makes him stop and stare in awe at how bright it is. “It’s no problem at all! He’s a really sweet kid, I’m glad you two are reunited.” You look down at the kid and speak to him. “And maybe next time you go on an adventure you can bring your dad along, yeah?” “Okay!” The boy responds enthusiastically. “Daddy! Can she come with us for the day! We can all go on an adventure together!” Jimin looks at you, and after getting an eager nod, he looks back down at his son. “Why not?” The boy squeals in excitement as the three of you make your way back around the park. “I’m Jimin, by the way.” “I’m Y/N! It’s been a pleasure meeting you!” “Oh the pleasure’s all mine, Y/N.” with a wink sent your way, you make your way back to the cotton candy stand, after realizing that Jimin had dropped the treat in his rush to find his son. Even after giving the sugary treat to the little boy, he couldn’t help but think that the sweetest thing he’s gotten today was the chance to spend the day (and hopefully more to come) with you.
Taehyung: Taehyung would take his kid to the toy store. He would say to his son that it’s time to get a new toy to play with, but really Taehyung would get so excited by all the cool new gadgets and gizmos. Minutes after walking into the store, he’d get distracted and wander off in search of a cool new toy. With Taehyung distracted, the kid would go off on his own, mesmerized by the sounds and colors off all the toys. Soon he’d bump into you. “Oh! Hi there! Are you lost? Where’s your parents?” You would ask him, he’d respond with a little giggle, saying that it’s only his daddy. “He was somewhere over there! But I wanted to look at all the toys!” You’d smile at his own carefree little smile. “It is a cool place isn’t it? But we should get you back to your daddy, he must be worried. Plus, you won’t be able to get a new toy without him!” The kid would look up at you with an exaggerated face of horror at the chance of not getting a new toy. He’d grab your hand and tug on it. “Let’s go! C'mon hurryyy!” With a small laugh you’d follow him, but only to be stopped by a man. “Oh thank god! There you are! You scared me! I didn’t know where you went!” You assumed this was the father as he ran up and hugged the little kid. Realizing that you were there, he stood up and greeted you with a sheepish smile. “I’m so sorry! I got so distracted by all the toys I kind of just wandered off on my own…” You laugh, shaking your head. “It’s alright! He wasn’t any trouble at all! He’s very sweet, I’m just glad that you found him in this massive place.” He’d laugh in response, and you stare at him. He has the same carefree smile and nature as the child. Thinking that all is good, you start to walk off, only to be stopped by the father. “Wait! Um…seeing that you helped me and, I think you would be able to help me keep track of this little guy…would you maybe want to look at the toys…together? I-I mean only if you want! It’s just that you’re so pretty and you seem cool and I don’t want to bother you-” “I’d love to! I wouldn’t mind spending more time with you. You seem pretty cool, seeing that you’re in this place anyways.” You both laugh, the kid pulling you both off into the direction of the toy cars. “I’m Taehyung, by the way.” “I’m Y/N. it’s nice to meet you!” “Likewise! And thanks for staying with us. But now I’m worried that the toys won’t be the only thing distracting me.” He sends you a wink and follows his kid. And with a blush and a shy smile on your face, you follow him; never more grateful for shiny cars and robots than in that moment.
Hoseok: He’d be walking through the streets, on his way to the carnival in town. His big hand would be grasped by his little girl’s smaller one, so they wouldn’t be separated. All of a sudden, Hoseok would be pushed aside as a sudden rush of the crowd pushed the two apart. Realizing that he is no longer holding hands with his daughter, he panics. He starts yelling her name, yelling out for her. He stops and looks in all directions, paying no mind to the rude looks the passersby’s are giving him. Just as he was about to go into full panic mode and break down, he spots her. But the thing that interests him the most is the hand she’s holding onto. A very beautiful woman. The crowd is pushing them up against a local shop, and he sees you looking around for someone. Realizing that you’re probably looking for him, he makes his way over to you two. Reaching you, he speaks first. “I am so sorry! We got lost in the crowd together and I got so worried! Thank you so much for finding her! I’m sorry for interrupting your day.” You shake your head and laugh. He noticed how bright your smile is and zoned out before realizing that you’re answering him. “Oh it’s really no trouble at all! She’s very cute! She’s like a real life princess!” The little girl smiles shyly and nudges her foot against the ground before looking up at Hoseok. “Daddy, why don’t we bring her along!” “Well…that’s okay with me. We’re headed to the carnival, if you want to tag along. Seeing as you did save my child from the crowd.” “Oh I’d love to! I was just on my way there! But It’ll be more fun to spend the day with someone else! Especially in the presence of a princess!” Again, she laughs, and the little girl grabs both your hands and pulls you down the crowded street once again. Hoseok looks over and smiles gratefully at you, glad that you were the one that found his little princess. And maybe, he thinks, maybe…you could become his queen.
Namjoon:  He would be at the bookstore with his little boy. Namjoon had run out of books to read and decided that he would go get a new one. But, he would get so into the book he was reading that he’d forget about his kid. Scared, the boy would run around looking for his dad. That’s where he’d run into you. You would be flustered at first, seeing this little crying boy run into you and cling to your legs. “Hey, what’s wrong? It’s okay, I’ll help you. What’s wrong?” “M-my daddy! I c-can’t find h-him!” He’d burst into a fresh wave of tears. Thinking that it could calm him down, you’d gently grab hold of his hand and tug him to the kids section. You’d pull him to sit on a chair and you’d sit in front of him. You’d start reading a cute little picture book, making each character have a different voice and make a big deal about showing him the pictures. Soon, the little boy had stopped crying and was paying close attention to the book. Meanwhile, Namjoon had realized that he had lost his kid and started to search the bookstore. When he reached the kid section of the bookstore, he’d spot you two. But instead of coming up and pulling his kid with him; he stops and watches. Thinking that you have a beautiful voice and how adorable you two look. Especially with all the characters voices. Namjoon would smile watching the little scene. When you’d reach the end of the book, and his little boy would smile and laugh clapping his little hands, he would approach you. Standing up, you smile at him. “I’m going to guess this is your little boy?” “Yes. I’m so sorry you had to watch him. I hope he wasn’t any trouble.” “It wasn’t any at all! I enjoyed reading to him! Just make sure he doesn’t run off again!” “Oh trust me! I’ve got my eye on the little sneak!” He’d feel a tug on his hand and look down at his boy. “Daddy! The pretty lady read me a story! Can we read another one? Pleeease?” He’d look to you, and once you nodded your head with a smile, he’d respond. “Alright little man. But only one more.” With an excited clap of his hands, he’d sit back down and wait patiently for you too read another story. Namjoon would stand, leaning against the bookshelf and watching you too. Watching his little boy smile and listen intently to the story, as well as the way your face would change with every character; he thought that he could get used to this.
Yoongi:  “Daad! Hurry up! I want to go play with the duckies!” A smile spreads across Yoongi’s face as his adorable little girl tugs on his hand with all her might as an attempt to rush him, which ultimately ends up failing. “The duckies aren’t going anywhere, sweetheart.” Yoongi and his daughter make their way to the gorgeous lake that sparkles throughout the day. Next to that is the giant, pink weeping willow tree that provides shade to Yoongi’s favorite bench. He plops down and lets out a long sigh. “Ah, your dad is getting old.” He says, rubbing his back. “Daddy, you’ve always been like that.” She says. Yoongi lets out a chuckle, nodding to himself with pride for teaching his daughter how to be so clever. She prances her way to the edge of the lake with her bag of seeds in her tiny hands. “Alright, now, you know the rules.” Yoongi says in his nagging voice. She lets out a long sigh, “Be nice and gentle to the duckies, don’t go into the water, and don’t wander off…” She says in a monotone voice, mocking her father. ‘Yah, don’t give me that. Now you have no excuse if you break the rules.” She ignores what her father says, and turns her attention to the lake, where ducks are now making their way towards her. The sight of Yoongi’s little girl, with her big eyes and giant grin on her face, brought happiness and warmth to his heart. He smiles, admiring his love.  They stayed like this for awhile. Without realizing, however, Yoongi had dozed off in his seat. He opened his eyes to see his daughter was nowhere in sight. Yoongi begins to panic. His heart starts racing as he leaps out of the bench, looking left and right and calling her name. He looks all over the park. The lake, the jungle gym, even the bathrooms. She wasn’t there. Eventually, Yoongi made his way to the swings. And there she was, swaying back and forth in the air with a huge smile across her face. The sound of her giggles never brought Yoongi as much comfort as they did right now. He moves close to her, “Thank god you’re okay! You know not to wander off like that!” He begins to nag once again, out of breath. “You could’ve been hurt…” Yoongi’s voice trails off when he sees you helping her off the swing. “I’m assuming you’re her dad, then.” You say, smiling at him. “Sorry daddy! You fell asleep and I got bored! I waited with the pretty lady for you to wake up!” You blush. “Sorry to worry you! She was wandering all by herself, so I decided to wait with her and keep her safe.” Yoongi smiles and nods, thanking you. The three of you start to take a walk around the park as Yoongi expresses his gratitude towards you for keeping his daughter safe. The conversation is filled with shy smiles, blushes, and quiet giggles until she tugs on yours and Yoongi’s hands. “Up! Up!” She says, bouncing up and down. Yoongi looks at you, almost as if to say You don’t have to. But you smile and grab her hand anyways, giggling as the two of you swing her into the air. Yoongi’s heart flutters, and you pretend not to notice as he looks at you with adoring eyes. He’ll never let his daughter hear this, but maybe breaking the rules isn’t always a bad thing.
Jin’s would be as well, as he had never been to a festival this big. He would be so amazed by all the sights and sounds, as well as all the food stands, that’d he’d wandered off. The little boy, trying to stay calm he approached a nearby food stand. It was a cute little stand filled with baked goods. You, the one in charge of it, would see the little boy coming. You’d put on a friendly smile and stepped out from behind the stand. “Hi there little guy! What can I do for you?” “I-I can’t find my daddy. Do y-you think that I can wait here?” “Of course! Would you like a sweet treat while you wait? I made them myself.” His eyes would fill with excitement at getting a treat. A few minutes later, Jin would spot his little boy munching on a brownie in front of the stand. Seeing him, the boy would run up and hug his legs. “Daddy! The nice lady made this! Do you think she can make some more for us?” Noticing you, he’d come up, apologizing for any trouble the boy could have caused. “Oh it’s fine. He was very nice. Plus, I’m glad I could give him some of my new baked goods!” Jin, noticing how cute you looked in an apron with your hair pulled back into a messy ponytail, would smile. “Well…seeing as this little guy enjoyed your treats…you wouldn’t mind me taking some for the road?” “Sure! Take all you want! There are plenty!” Once he had a bag full of sweets, he’d start to walk away, before suddenly stopping. “Um…you wouldn’t mind if I asked for your number, would you? You know, just in case you had any new treats to try out. My son would be happy to taste test them. And I would always be happy to see you again.” Jin says with a shy smile and a light blush dusting his cheeks. With a shy smile yourself, you’d write your number down and hand it to him. “I’ll be expecting a call…” “Seokjin…Jin.” Im Y/N! It’s been a pleasure! I do hope I hear from you soon!“ With your friendly smile in his mind, he heads off again holding onto his boy’s hand. Although, him wandering off hadn’t been such a bad thing after all.
“Ethan it will just be two minutes I swear!” I whined at Ethan as we got closer and closer to Sephora.
Ethan and I were out at the mall, because he wanted to pick something up from the nike store. But I could see Sephora and E never wanted to go in with me, and at this point I don´t blame him. I could spend hours and real hours walking around the store, swatching, staring and just trying out and looking at all the makeup. E thought it was really boring.
“But y/n you always say it´ll only be a minute and we end up staying till closing time” Ethan responded.
“But ethaaaan” you looked up at his brown eyes, trying to make puppy eyes, for him to give in. “E-tee-wee-tee pleaaaase”
“y/n I´ll just wait outside if it´s only a couple of minutes” Ethan finally responded.
I walked into Sephora and my face lit up like a kid on Christmas day. I turned towards the glass doors were Ethan was standing holding a couple of our bags and I grinned from ear to ear. I turned back around and went to the first aisle. Lipsticks and Highlighters. Then I felt two arms bring me into their chest and I knew it was Ethan.
“This place makes you so happy huh?” Ethan whispered in my ear.
I turned to look at him and just smiled and nodded. Ethan pulled me in and kissed me and smiled after the kiss.
“Fine we can stay as long as you like, only because it makes you this happy” Ethan said to me with a smile on his face.
I turned around and saw a beautiful rose gold super glittery highlighter. I turned to Ethan with the highlighter in my hand, swiped my finger across it and smiled at him asking for permission. He just nodded and smiled and I swiped my finger across his cheek, testing the glittery product.
“How does it look baby?” Ethan asked, while smiling and putting his hands on his hips, posing for me. I laughed and kissed him.
“I love it E but its not my favorite lets keep on trying.”
Just artist Keef things
- he likes drawing outside. Its normally quieter and allows him to concentrate a lot more
- He draws a lot of scenery, but is very good at drawing people
- he’s very traditional in drawing and doesn’t use digital much, but does do some colorings digitally
- when he was bored he would always just sketch random shapes and move on from their, creating some of his own alien species
- he has a dream journal and draws in their sometimes, depending on how much he enjoyed the dream
- Keith had constantly doodled in his notebook when he went to the Garrison, but would always erase them when he turned in an assignment
- he doesnt like showing his drawings to people bc they’re more of a personal thing
- one of the only people who has seen any of his drawings, besides Shiro. was Lance, and it was only because Keith dropped his notebook at lunch, and Lance had helped pick them up
- Keith started to draw Shiro a lot more after his disappearance
- After discovering Voltron, he stopped drawing for a while bc he had none of the materials to do so, and he was also defending the universe
- in the space mall he ended up buying what he assumed was a space art kit
- doing art helps him with his anxiety. Its very calming for him
- Keith draws the other members of voltron a lot, as well as people from different alien species
- he probably draws shiro/lance the most. He has a hard time drawing Coran bc he wants to get it perfect, and Coran is such a gorgeous man that Keith feels like its never good enough.
- he has never really drawn himself. He doesn’t like to, and it just doesn’t feel right for him to do it
- Art makes Keith feel good about himself, as in that he’s not just someone who is destructive, but also someone who can create.
When Their Shy S/O Wears Lingerie
~Kim Namjoon~
He was busy typing away on his computer for an email that needed to be sent out immediately. You peeped open the door just enough to see him, but sadly the door squeaked a little too loud. His attention was drawn straight to you and the little bit of skin he could see through the sliver. You would see the dimpled smirk from a mile away. He shut his laptop and say it to the side, beckoning you over with his fingers.
You cheeks erupted in a blush and you intertwined you fingers in front of you. With a small push of the door opened wide and you stood before him with the dark purple lingerie. The bra created a V line down your body. It barely covered your most precious part, which was what Namjoon’s eyes were drawn to first.
He held out his arms and grasped your hips when you inched close enough.
“C'mere Princess, give Daddy a show.”
~Kim Seokjin~
You waited patiently for your boyfriend to get him from his tour. You sat on the sofa with your legs crossed and the jacket pulled over your shoulders. The front door to your apartment opened and every nerves you had tensed. Jin wouldn’t notice you at first, setting down the wine he had bought before turning and looking at the couch.
His jaw would drop and he couldn’t form even small words. You felt the shyness take over and you struggled to pull the lace pink jacket to cover your chest. Jin refused to let you do so. Jin took your hands and pulled them away from the underwear, laying a kiss at the valley between your breast.
“Don’t cover up Y/n, I wanna see it all.”
~Min Yoongi~
Yoongi wasn’t one to get overly excited when he saw you dress up for him. At least he didn’t show it. So when you showed up to his studio with a long black trench coat, he didn’t look twice. He flicked his head in your direction to signal he knew you were there and went back to writing lyrics. With a shaky sigh, you unlatched the belt that kept the coat together and let it drop to the floor.
The top was held up by two thin straps that were tied in bows. An oval in the center showed off nearly all of your cleavage. The bottoms were a thong that hung low against your center and left nothing to the imagination.
The favorite accessory by far was the satin black chocker with the gold bell.
You stood in the cold air as the clock ticked by and Yoongi had yet to turn around. With a simple couch you had his attention and the smallest of smirks grew wide. He let his arms rest on the rests of his leather chair and propped his chin against his hand.
“Kneel kitten. Crawl to me.”
~Jung Hoseok~
Hoseok loved how shy and innocent you were. That was one of the things he enjoyed most about you. Yet you couldn’t deny that the same old Vanilla shy was getting old. You decided to spice it up a bit.
Visiting the mall plaza early in the morning so you wouldn’t be exposed, you picked out the most appealing underwear set. Even as you tried it on that night at home, you still felt embarrassed. The fabric was baby blue and the top feathered out from the bra to cover your back but expose your cute belly. The underwear was a triangle tied back by two thin strings.
“Y/n? Are you ready?” Hoseok thought the two of you were going out for a movie, but was he ever so wrong. You opened the bedroom door and watched his eyebrows disappear under his bangs. At that point you tried to close the door but he jammed his foot in the doorway.
The hunger in his eyes grew and you back away slowly with your chin dropped. Hoseok cupped your chin with two fingers and forced you to look him in the eyes.
“Get on the bed Angel. We aren’t going anywhere tonight.”
~Park Jimin~
Anybody who knew Jimin was aware of his love of dance. Yet somehow it managed to overshadow your relationship with him. An hour at practice turned into a whole day without seeing him. So you decided to take matters into your own hands.
He was at rehearsal so you picked that time to make a surprise visit. You dressed in a baggy sweatshirt and matching sweatpants to hide the true present underneath. You have a smile to the woman at the front desk and quickly found Jimin rehearsing for the newest song. Jimin was sweaty and had a wet towel wrapped around the back of his neck.
He could see you through the glass on the door and grinned. You entered the room with arms crossed over your chest and heat rising to your cheeks. Jimin cocked his head at you and rubbed the covered skin of your arms.
“Are you alright Jagiya?” His concern was genuine when he forced you to look him in the eyes. Swallowing your pride. You reached down and pulled the sweatshirt from your body. You knew this was risky and that anybody could walk in at any moment. This was stepping out of your comfort zone 10x.
The bra was a dark blue with a large keyhole in the front. Two straps crisscrossed to cover your nipples but didn’t leave much to the imagination. The bottom was a intricate design that wrapped around your upper thigh and hugged your hips.
Jimin stood slack jawed as you stripped down completely. His first reaction was to cover you back up and coddle you like a child. But his hormones took over. You were dragged to the small couch in the corner of the room, hidden in the shadows. Jimin pushed you down and began ravishing your throat.
“I love this outfit Y/n, but I think you’ll look better out of it.”
~Kim Taehyung~
Tae was busy typing away on his phone, headphones on full blast. You tried to swallow the lump in your throat but it just bobbed right back up. As of now you were standing before him in the plump colored gown. The top was a corset material that pushed up your breast.
The bottoms were a simple thing that matched the color and the pullover was completely translucent. You had never felt more exposed. Even if you were naked, it still wouldn’t have the same effect.
Taehyung was humming and happened to lift his eyes to you. His phone fell from his phone and slapped against his face. You would have laughed at that if not for Tae hovering over you in the next 3 seconds.
“Trying to tease me Y/n? It’s working.”
~Jeon Jungkook~
Jungkook and you were watching a rom-com in your living room. His pad was much to overfilled with boys for your liking. You didn’t do well around other people. Especially people with that much energy. Jungkook was stuffing popcorn into his mouth and not really paying attention to the way you were uncomfortably shifting in his lap.
“Stop moving. I’m starting to have a….problem.” He grunted in your ear. You whimpered under his deep voice.
“I have something to show you…"you reached for the remote and turned off the tv. The lamp beside of the couch gave Jungkook plenty of light as you stood and stripped. Jungkook stared wide eyed at the black body suit hugging your curves. Not to mention the lace chocker and the string that ran down the center of your breast to the bodysuit.
"Y/n, you look gorgeous. But get on that fucking bed before you regret it.”
Harry was in his office, working on records and all, calling up his managers and figuring out dates for interviews and shows, while she was fiddling around the kitchen, feeding Darcy and watching Iris play with her doll. Being on maternity leave always drove her insane, she has to work, she has to keep busy. Prompt: Lance can play guitar and be brought he guitar with him to space?
My talented Boy
I changed it up a little because I didn’t see how Lance could’ve taken a guitar with him to space.
Lance loved to play guitar. He learned when he was around 7 to play from his grandfather. He was a natural, he learned his first song in 2 days. He nearly mastered it by the end of that summer.
Lance sooner found himself mastering his singing skills as he progressed on his guitar.
He would put on “concerts” for his family’s, sometimes even his friends. Lance loved it. It made him feel closer to his family and heritage, since he learned songs from his culture.
He would play his guitar when his siblings were sad or when his mother wanted to hear some music. He even surprised his parents on their anniversary by playing their wedding song.
-
Leaving for the Garrison was bitter sweet. Lance was leaving his family and life behind, and his guitar. However every time he thought about backing out his family would tell him to keep reaching for the stars, and he did.
-
Lance hated to admit it but he forgot about his guitar that was hanging on his wall collecting dust in his room. However finding a giant Blue lion, that forms a right leg to a robot, meeting aliens, being chained to a tree, and fighting Zarkon kinda distracted Lance from remembering certain things.
Until the space mall.
“Whoa Lance this store has everything!” Pidge ran excitedly around the store picking up various games and knick knacks.
Lance gave her a small smile as he casual walked around the store. He found some things that reminded him of Earth until he saw a brown six string guitar propped up on a shelf. Lance walked over to it and left his fingers roam over the strings. Strings he hadn’t touch in months.
He carefully pick it up and blew the dust off of it.
“Oh I see you found my masterpiece.” The store clerk walked over to Lance and gestured to the guitar in Lance’s hands. “It’s called a Gindaber.”
Lance stopped himself from correcting him, he learned from Coran that if you don’t know what something is you can get it for cheaper. Lance gave the man a small smile and decided to play the ‘dumb’ part.
“What does it do?”
The man gently took the guitar from Lance’s hand and placed it on the ground so the strings were flushed on the ground, leaving the back exposed.
“Well you beat on it.” The man set a small beat and started using it like a drum.
Lance had to physically stop himself from screaming at the man, but instead looked like he was fascinated but whatever the aliens was doing.
Lance nodded enthusiastically “How much for it?” Lance started to dig through his pocket, pulling out the money that Coran gave him.
The man looked at his weirdly “$150 dubiscers. You seriously want this?”
Lance nodded again and quickly counted his money.
-
Back at the castle Lance spent 10 minutes attempting to tune the thing. “Man it’s like it’s never been tuned before.”
After a few more minuets Lance finally got it tuned. He immediately started to play his favorite song. It was a faster song and contained more bar cords than any song back on Earth but Lance never minded.
Lance’s fingers moved over the strings almost as easy as breathing. Lance was calm, he forgot just how calm it made him.
Yet Lance didn’t think it would make him feel so…lonely? Not like the type of lonely, like no was there for him because he had his team of course. But more he felt detached to his family and culture.
Lance stopped playing his song and walked out of his room leaving the guitar on the floor.
-
“So Lance did you buy anything today at the mall?” Coran asked as he placed a plate of food goo in front of the boy.
“I did actually, I bought a guitar.” Lance ate a spoonful of the goo.
Hunk nearly choked on his food as he attempted to process what Lance had said. After a few moments of struggled breathing Hunk excitedly spoke “You bought a guitar?!?!?!”
Lance nearly fell out of his chair and quickly nodded yes.
“Dude you have to play it!!!” Hunk turned to everyone else in the room “Lance is seriously the best at playing guitar. When I went over to his house for spring break he played me a few songs and he so good.”
Lance fought back a blush, he knew he was good but not that good.
After Hunk’s speech everyone insisted that he played for them. Lance agreed and found himself in the common area surrounded by everyone and his guitar held in his hands.
Lance played a few simple songs to start but eventually moved to the more complex ones that he had spent days memorizing.
After a few songs Hunk begged Lance to sing, saying that he had an “voice of an angle” so Lance did.
Lance sang a song in spanish, trying to stay close to his roots. Lance fought back the homesickness that started to plague his voice. His native language rolling off his tongue with ease.
No one seemed to notice, or if they did they did not comment on it, how Lance’s voice wavered a bit at certain parts of the song.
Everyone cheered for Lance and requested songs that Lance obviously knew. Lance filled the night with music and he slightly started to feel at home with his family again.
Wow this has been in my inbox forever. Not exactly as angsty as others but who cares.
I hope you like it!
Thank you!
Last night my husband showed me a local Beaumont news story about a woman died in my hometown as she tried to stay afloat in the floodwaters of Hurricane Harvey. The little girl was rescued alive, but the mother was unresponsive. I shook my head. The next morning, I saw a post in the Facebook group for my high school senior class about the tragedy. Photos appeared in the comments and that’s when I fell apart: police had identified the woman who died as my friend Collette.
Articles about her death were published all over the country. The LA Times called her death “a true testament to a mother’s will.” The NY Times headlined her as “Drowning Mama.” I don’t mention these descriptions because they’re wrong, they’re all true, but because it felt strange to read about someone I knew described as a near-anonymous victim.
Many people in my senior class had trouble remembering her. They dug up old yearbook photos and confirmed she did indeed graduate with us at West Brook Senior High School. That’s understandable, you can’t know everyone you went to high school with. But I knew her, and I’d like to write down what I remember about her before she becomes another Facebook profile memorial.
I don’t remember how I met Collette. It must have been soon after I moved back to Texas, and we were friends from middle school until we graduated from high school. We ate lunch together when we had matching lunch periods, went to the movies, showed up at each other’s parties, had sleepovers and hung out at the mall. I can see her sitting on my couch, or my bedroom floor, chatting the night away about nothing in particular. One night, just for fun, I recorded our voices and played it back.
“Turn it off,” she said. “That conversation was boring the first time.”
One day I took a plastic frog to school and pretended to pick it up from the ground. I told her I’d caught a real frog and when I tried to show it to her, she backed away. I tossed it at her and she squealed and ran off. When she came back I admitted it was plastic and she gave me that smile and rolled her eyes. At lunch, I left the frog on my soda can while we went to the food line and when we came back, a group of kids were circling it. Thinking they were crushing a real frog, they smacked the can and spilled soda all over Collette’s food. She was very forgiving.
She was late for every movie. All of them. Not “missed the previews” late, not even “thirty minutes in” late. She would show up a full hour into every show. I usually let her pick the film and she’s the reason I saw Curly Sue and Threesome in the theater. Threesome was so bad, I leaned over near the end and whispered, “This is awful, let’s just go.”
She folded her arms and clenched her teeth. “I paid to see this movie,” she said, “and I’m gonna’ watch it.”
I didn’t argue with her, she’d paid full price to see half a movie. I sat back and watched Stephen Baldwin have an awkward sex scene because fair was fair.
People gave her a hard time about her weight. “You have such a pretty face, they tell me,” she said once. “You would be so pretty if you lost weight. That just, uch…” She didn’t need to put into words how vicious and useless it was to say things like that. Collette was tougher than the people who tried to define her by her body.
Collette and her mother were close. One year her mother rented a hotel room for her daughter’s birthday and invited a group of us to stay. We watched Single White Female and scared ourselves to death. There was cake and a sparkly chandelier from Party City and we stayed up too late and it was one of the best nights of my life. Collette loved parties.
Dooney and Burke handbags were a must-have among affluent girls at my high school. We weren’t affluent girls, but Collette’s mom gave her the money to buy one anyway. There was only one store that sold them at Parkdale Mall and they had a reputation for using saleswomen to intimidate teens into leaving the store. I didn’t want to shop in a store like that but she wanted me to go along so I went with her for support. She marched right up to the counter and picked out a purse without paying any attention to how the saleswomen were looking at her. Collette was fearless.
I tried to find pictures, but I haven’t yet. Pictures were physical back then. I did find the note she wrote me in our senior yearbook. It read:
Hi Georgia,
Well, it’s four years later and soon we’ll be off to college. I can’t believe we’re SENIORS. We’ve had a lot of fun over the years but it seems like we’re always busy. Good luck in college and the future. Have fun and remember you only live once.
Love,
Collette Sulcer
Ps. Stay in touch.
We didn’t. Every graduate in 1994 knew how hard it would be to stay in touch in a world that had stopped writing letters but hadn’t yet discovered cellphones, Facebook and e-mail. I went out of state and she went to Lamar. She became the kind of medical technician her co-workers can’t stop raving about. An entire hospital of medical professionals in Port Arthur, Texas is grieving her tonight.
When Facebook took off, we found each other again and I followed her life from a distance. She had a baby and I thought, “We’re both mothers now, look at us.” On August 27, I was working late and I saw a Facebook notification pop up that read, “Collette Sulcer has marked herself safe from Hurricane Harvey.”
“That’s nice,” I thought. She was in Beaumont, not Corpus or Houston. She was safe.
Except a few hours later, she wasn’t.
I’d been thinking about Collette a lot lately because I’ve been writing about her. I’ve often written about her, under different names and characters. She exemplified how to be a friend, and I admired her honesty, her positivity, her support and her compassion. Collette was someone I wished I could be more like.
I hope Jordyn reads this someday, when she’s older. I’d like her to know what her mother was like when she was young, that she was a hero who loved her more than her own life, but that she was also a person worth knowing who uplifted everybody who knew her. They deserved more time together.
Your name: submit What is this?
You stood in front of the bathroom mirror, trying to calm yourself down and hide the fact that you had been crying. The taunts, whispers, and mocking glances had been going on for months, and you told yourself you wouldn’t cry over it anymore. You had hoped you would be able to shrug it off. But you couldn’t. Your already low self -esteem couldn’t take it. You may be a Stark but that didn’t make you bullet proof or confident. You pressed a cold paper towel to your face hoping to diminish the blotchy patches forming around your chin. Regulating your breathing, you slung your backpack over your shoulder and made your way through the hallways, wanting nothing more than to be curled up in your bed or messing around with DIY science experiments with Peter. You became acquainted with him after your dad recruited him and your friendship had been growing slowly. But you’d also be lying to yourself if you said you only liked him as a friend. He just understood you. He didn’t make fun of you for your interests. You couldn’t tell how he felt, so you kept your mouth shut. You were too shy to make the first move anyway.
As you pushed through the doors and made your way down the front steps you spotted your dad’s car. You thought of all the comments, about how you would never be as successful as him, about how you didn’t fit in and would amount to nothing. It was rare for him to have the time to pick you up himself, but he promised you at least once a week. You took some more deep breaths, determined to not let your dad find out about your situation at school. You didn’t even want to know how he would react. He was overprotective, to say the least.
“C’mon, baby! Time to sit on Santa’s lap!” You exclaimed, pulling your four year old son along. The mall’s Santa looked extremely realistic this year and your son lit up like a Christmas tree.
“Santa!” He babbled over and over again, making grabby hands toward the man’s face. Bucky chuckled deeply behind you.
You grinned and nodded, “Gotta be nice, okay? You can’t pull Santa’s beard like you do your daddy’s.”
Santa was quick to pull your son onto his lap before he could run away. When he looked up at you, his mouth seemed to drop slightly. He cleared his throat, and in a low tone he asked, “Would Mommy like to sit on my other leg?”
Your brows furrowed.
The next day at lunch, you arrived to the library; waiting on Zach to show up as well.
You considered it odd he did not approach you - after class - to walk with you to the library. You noticed him walk out with his friends in the opposite direction of the media center. You brushed it off, assuming he went to grab lunch then meet you.
I woke up to the blaring noise of my phone’s ringtone. No please no, just five more minutes. Who the hell could be calling me this early on a Saturday?
I reluctantly rolled over to check my phone’s caller ID to see who decided to bother me at 8 am. ‘Veronica Lodge’ it read. Groaning, I held the phone up to my ear and answered.
“Hello?” I said in a groggy morning voice.
“Good morning my little protégée, the shops open at 9 and we’re going to need to make a head start on things if we’re going to Cheryl’s party tonight as well” Veronica chirped. Judging by the chipper tone of her voice she had been up and ready for awhile now.
“Oh god I almost forgot about the shopping trip today, do we really need to go so early?” I yawned, sitting up in bed in an attempt to wake myself up more.
“Yes Y/N, I have the day planned out. Me, you and Kevin are going to shop not only for your new wardrobe but also for killer outfits for the three of us tonight. Then we’re meeting Archie at Pop’s a little later on, and then you’re coming to my house to get ready for the party. And then-”
“And then we go to the party okay, I got it, I got it” I cut in.
“Perfect, Kevin and I will be at you house in about an hour! Chow” she finished as she swiftly hung up the phone.
I tossed my phone on my nightstand and got out of bed in pursuit of the shower, which I knew would help give me the strength to get through this day.
