to lead with pride

How to Work Smart

1. Make the most of those little slots of time – a free fifteen minutes here and there. You can accomplish a lot in those extra lost minutes.

2. Make your work place comfortable and inviting. For example, have an inspiring bookshelf, light a scented candle, put up a few crazy, fun photographs.

3. Make every effort to enjoy the journey – and remind yourself of the arrival fallacy (arriving at your goal is usually a letdown, and doesn’t bring the joy we thought it would bring.)

. Don’t be afraid of criticism as it can help you to learn and grow. Dreading it too much creates anxiety which them prevents you from producing your best.

5. Recognise that we rarely feel happy when we’re working as we’re bound to struggle with incompetence, failure, frustration and feeling that we don’t know what to do. However, they are only a part of the total picture, and completing a project leads to pride and confidence.

It was through Pride that the devil became the devil: Pride leads to every other vice: it is the complete anti-God state of mind.
—  CS Lewis “Mere Christianity”
God neither controls the situation nor is he found sulking in the corner, passive and idle. Behold: he’s there on the cross. And he takes up all the evil and suffering and sin and sorrow into himself. All the despair and selfishness that leads to suicide; all of the perversion and obsession that leads to sexual assault; all of the powerless and desperation that leads to terrorism; all the pride and power that leads to domination and slavery. Christ takes it all up into himself on the Cross. He felt it all, endured it all, absorbed it and transformed it through self-giving, radically forgiving, co-suffering love. He doesn’t sit in the corner while an adult harms a child; he hangs on a Cross. He doesn’t watch and do nothing; he endures and transforms and he will have the last word: Mercy. Redemption, restoration, reconciliation.

Why Lapidot is so good for both Lapis and Peridot's character development

I see a lot of posts criticizing Lapidot as a shitty end to Lapis and Peridot’s character development, talking about how incredibly out of character it is for them, but Lapidot is exactly where each of their character arcs should lead to.

Peridot’s entire character angle is she took pride in being an intellectual in service of a greater intellectual, Yellow Diamond, for the enlightened benefit of gemkind, and after getting trapped on earth with the Crystal Gems she did the whole betrayal thing but learned that Yellow Diamond was in fact not rational about earth and was not being intelligent about what could benefit gemkind and what they could learn from, and like, then Peridot spurned her and didn’t know what to do with herself anymore. She started learning about the complex pointless beautiful things Earth has and that they all are valuable in their uniqueness,

and it’s while she’s learning about music and joy and creativity and friendship, there’s Lapis, whose

character arc was her discovering that while she can’t go back to her life before the mirror, and that she’s more than who she was and what she did when she was Malachite, Earth can be her chance to decide who she wants to be. That she can grow and change here on Earth like the leaves with the seasons. That this is her chance to forgive herself.

She’s understanding that people have the potential for change, herself included, and she’s sort of, letting Peridot show her that she can change too. And Peridot’s discovering herself while Lapis is learning to love and forgive herself, and this is exactly what Lapidot is and why it is so important to both of their characters!

The Sun in the Houses

The House the Sun falls under in the Natal Chart shows where we need to feel special, and distinguished from others. This is where our personalities shine the brightest. We need to take purposeful action here, and therefore, this is where we can effect change.

In order to find happiness and direction in our lives, we must strive to identify with the areas of life ruled by the House the Sun is in.

Over identification may also be problematic, as an overly developed ego may lead to an easily bruised pride.

The Sun is more “comfortable” in some houses than it is in others. The Sun’s energy feels “at home” in the 5th House, which is its natural domain. The Sun also thrives in the First House.

Sherlock (TV series) - A ‘one word’ confession of love?

In The Empty Hearse, we have:

JOHN: One Word, Sherlock. That is all I would have needed.

In Doctor Who’s The Snowmen, we have the “one word” test:

  • Between Clara, Sherlock’s mirror, and The Doctor, John’s mirror;
  • Put forward by Vastra , Sherlock’s mirror, and Jenny , John’s mirror.

For information about these mirrors read  Now, Clara. Who’s Clara?.

So I started thinking, if there was a ‘one word’ confession what would it be?
This parallel with Doctor Who made me think it could be “marriage”, also considering that everybody would expect love and that there are few unexpected words that are stronger.

The phrase “one word” also made me think of Pride and Prejudice final confession who leads to their engagement:

Elizabeth was too much embarrassed to say a word. After a short pause, her companion added, “You are too generous to trifle with me. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes are unchanged, but one word from you will silence me on this subject for ever.”

It has been elaborated on here before, that Rosa tends to usually hum a soft tune to herself, and that is no different in battle as she uses it as a mean to cope with the violence and fighting surrounding her, losing herself in the song instead. That along with her fast reflexes and wind influenced fighting style is what earned her the name ‘Hummingbird’ to begin with.

However, because of that, in time, specifically post-skip, I can see her enemies categorizing her by said humming, stories told of what would befall those who hear the ‘Song of the Hummingbird’ and bring harm to her family, as it certainly would signify the upcoming hurricane and whirlwinds cast their way. Many choosing to escape the moment it’s heard rather than linger around to face the consequences.
