Kuroko was used to the early
mornings, his job as a postman meant he needed the early start to ensure he
could deliver all the letters in time. Regardless of the state of his stamina,
lugging large packages around would be exhausting for anyone.
He enjoyed the work, especially
when he got to deliver letters to a particular redheaded conductor at the train
station. It had started as nothing more than simple deliveries, then at some
point the male had been handing him letters addressed to himself. Words of
affection and tales of the things he’d seen on his journeys and how he wondered
if Kuroko would like them too. They’d conversed by letters for a while and soon
enough he was eagerly awaiting the other’s return.
This morning however, was a
little different. He was no waiting for Akashi’s return. Instead he woke to see
Akashi off and not for a day, or a week, or a month. The redhead was leaving
for several months on end. By the time summer comes, he had told him, but it
did little to quell the sadness in his chest. He could still write letters to
him but with the other so far away it hurt to know they would not be delivered personally
“You won’t forget me will you,
Tetsuya?” Akashi smiled as he stood at his side, admiring the train that would
show him a great many wonders far beyond the town they lived.
“I don’t think that is possible,
Akashi-kun.” Kuroko responded, inching closer as the redhead removed his hat
and pulled him in for a passionate, loving kiss.
“Then please wait for me,
Tetsuya. I will always come back to you.”
