Summary: An accidental collision. Lucky shoes. Baseball lessons. As much as they might try to deny it, fate seemed to be working to bring Derek and Y/N together. But being in each other’s lives could prove to be more complicated than either one of them bargained for.

“Y/N? Are you even listening to me?” Stiles’ voice broke me out of my stare and I slowly turned my head to look at him, eyes wide and lips sucked between my teeth as I grunted out a ‘hm?’ He blinked at me several times before averting his gaze to the spot I was so tethered to only moment ago.

“Sorry,” I sighed. “I’ve just been…distracted.”

“I’ll say,” he snorts, earning a glare. “What’s up with you lately?”

“Nothing, I’m fine.”

mini drabble prompt: Klaus & Caroline secretly write letters/emails to each other after 5x11.

Warning: allusions to Damon’s awfulness.

Send You The News

Damon walking into her dorm room, without knocking, was an annoyance Caroline had sadly gotten used to. She’d even come to find the happy little sigh Elena let out every single time a little cute.

Just kidding, it was totally icky and she didn’t bother to hide her rolling eyes. Not that either of them noticed.

She barely looks up from the section she’d highlighting in her Biochem text as Damon starts yapping, though she grimaces at the soft squishy noises of PDA. Seriously, Damon had a whole giant house a reasonable drive away. Did they have to get touchy feely in a tiny shared room?

She tunes them out until she hears the word mail.

Then Caroline’s out of her seat, leaving her ergonomic chair spinning, and across the room at full vampire speed. She manages to snatch the pile of letters from his hand before he can think to attempt to hold them out of her reach.

A good thing because she might have tried to draw a little blood before she could consider the consequences. Namely, ruining the rug and having to endure Elena pouting long after Damon healed from his minor injuries.

Offerings for Dragons

Dragon spirits are actually pretty varied and there doesn’t seem to be many good sources at all in working with them.  So this is a little write up on things you can offer to your scaly guide!  These are just things I have either heard of or experienced myself.  You may find other options as well in your own journey!

Incense

As a whole for spirit working in general, incense is a pretty solid, simple and basic offering.  I’ve even offered incense to my tarot cards before!  But incense is something easy that you can offer to whatever dragon spirit you are working with.  Dragon’s blood is one of my favorites, to be honest, because of the wonderful smell it has.  But I have others as well like Sun incense by Hem.  Each dragon may have its own preference so as you get to working with them more, you’ll learn which ones they like more!  I also like to try and find an incense holder or box that appeals to my dragon guide!

Wax and oil burners

This is an alternative for incense if you need a flameless solution to give a scented offering!  They also come in a variety of styles so you could very easily pick something that appeals to your dragon!

Candles

Candles are very good offerings as well to light in honor for your dragon.  They are also great for fire dragons!  Electric candles are also an option for those of you who need flameless solutions!  Candles are pretty versatile and you could even anoint the candle with an oil or something for your dragon!  One of my favorites is to use storm water!

Gems or Stones

It’s no secret that dragons like shinies!  Gems are usually a safe bet all around but you may have some that do not really have a burning desire for them.  Every dragon is different but so far for me, gems have always been appreciated.  You can even get a nice looking box to keep them in and place on the altar.  One of the great things about gem stone offerings is that when you are heading out but you want some extra strength or comfort, you can ask your dragon and take one of the stones with you if they are ok with it!  I’ve done this quite a few times and it’s really comforting to have.

Wine

Obviously, this is going to be for when you are of age.  But wine has been a good go to offering for me with my dragons.  A nice red would likely be good for fire and earth dragons and a white wine would probably be good for air and water dragons.  But this can also all come down to unique taste.  You can leave it on their altar for a while or you can drink it in their honor/with them!

Tea and Coffee

This is the one I tend to use the most since I drink one or the other everyday.  It’s pretty basic and nice to leave!  Coffee is my biggest one but I like to use tea when I’m looking to calm down.  Especially wrapped in blankets and when I invite my dragons to curl up with me.

Food

Some dragon spirits like little treats, sweets, snacks and food.  One of my previous dragon guides had a penchant for Nutty Bars.  However you can do something as simple dedicating your dinner to them before you eat.  This is something that you can do anywhere, even when you are far away from your altar.  Some dragons may not so big into this one but it is definitely an option!

Music

This is something that I really like to offer to any spirits I’m working with.  You can play something from your ipod for them, you can play an instrument for them or you can sing for them.  Singing is one of my favorite things to do for my dragons.  I do have a bamboo flute I might play around with but I can’t really play it.  But still, my dragons have usually appreciated the gesture.  I know a few tiny tunes I can play for them.  :3

Spells

You can work spells for them and in their honor! I have found this is a great way to feel closer to dragons.  You can also ask them to help you with a spell and work side by side.  You can do a few things with this idea and that means it could also be very personalized!

Energy

I personally feel like this is a more close, serious offering.  Intimate is not quite the word but for lack of a better one, it will do.  You are, in essence, offering up a art of yourself so that is highly personal and I think this is something that should be done when you are REALLY close to your dragon.  You may disagree but that is my opinion.  But energy is a viable option.

Crafts / Extracurricular Activities

If you have a hobby, be it painting, drawing, running or anything you can make something for your dragon spirit or you can dedicate your time towards the things you love in honor of them.  I like to dedicate walks to my dragons and ask them if they would like to accompany me.

Miscellaneous

There are alot of things that could be given in offering.  Sometimes they will tell you something specific that they want or point out to something that they like and want.  It can be a random object they see, a song or something else.  My dragon, Rivaz, actually likes for me to play video games for him.  It started when he heard Skyrim music and he liked it and he wanted to know where it was from.  So now I sometimes game it up for him!  Just talking with your dragon can really help you learn more about what they want and feel closer to them.

I hope these were of help!

Safe Travels

Can you do a Drabble where the reader has a dog and it's named like Pixie or (some wizard species) and Newt thinks that she thinks it is that creature and tries to explain that it's a dog to her and then she has to explain the name thing

When you first told Newt about Pixie, you didn’t understand his alarmed reaction, nor the way he grabbed your arm and dragged you up, demanding you take him to your house straight away so you could deal with the threat.

“She’s not a threat.”

“Merlin’s beard, not a threat? She’ll ruin your house!”

You frown at that. “Maybe when I first got her, but I’ve house trained her since then.”

He widens his eyes at your ignorance. “Just bring me there. I’ll take care of this for you.”

You almost don’t want to given his stubborn insistence that she’s a pest, but you decide you may as well show him that the Pomeranian really couldn’t do much damage to anything larger than a rat.

The entire way there he talks your ear off about how your plants will be knocked over and your papers shredded and your couch and armchairs full of tiny teeth marks. You tune him out eventually, tired of trying to defend your poor dog. Pixie is a sweetheart. She cuddles on your lap and never leaves messes in any of the rooms and she’s always there to greet you when you get home.

Newt mutters the entire way there, annoying you, but you don’t say anything. When he’s on a rant like this, it’s best to just let him go.

He stops you at the steps leading to your front door. “Wait here.”

You open your mouth to protest when he draws a jar from his jacket pocket, causing you to change your question. “What are you doing with that?”

He looks over his shoulder at you, hand on the door knob. “I’m going to capture it in here.”

“Newt, she’s not going to fit in there.”

His forehead wrinkles in confusion at that, but he shoves the door open before you can say anything else. Sighing, you follow his creeping figure in.

True to her regular self, Pixie comes tearing around the corner when she hears the door open, running straight for you and Newt.

He watches her streak past his legs. “I’m surprised the pixie hasn’t terrorized her yet.”

You stop in your spot. “What are you talking about?”

Newt glances at the ceiling, searching for Merlin-knows-what. “The pixie.”

You lift the tiny puppy up, holding her as she wiggles in your arms, trying to bend around and lick your face. “Newt, this is Pixie.”

He turns on his heels. “What you’re holding?”

“Yeah?”

He shakes his head. “That’s not a pixie.”

Your face heats up. “What are you talking about? I’d think I would know.”

He faces you fully. “So that’s what you think a pixie is?”

“I know this is Pixie. What is your problem, Newt?” You’re fully annoyed now. He comes to your house, insults your dog, then tells you that you don’t even know your own dog. You grit your teeth.

He walks toward you, stopping a few feet away. “That’s a dog.”

“Way to figure that one out.”

“You said you have a pixie.”

“What?” You shake your head, bouncing the Pomeranian in your arms. “This is Pixie. She’s seven months old.”

“No,” Newt says, his own terror at whatever threat he’d perceived dissipating and being replaced by some amusement, “that’s a dog.”

You sigh, slowly understanding what’s going on. “Newt, I know this isn’t a magical creature.”

He frowns. “Then why do you keep calling it a Pixie? Those are small, blue buggers that fly around and cause mischief. Very dangerous.”

You drop your head to your chest, kissing the squirming puppy before setting her on the ground. “I named her Pixie after a movie star I love, not after those creatures.”

Newt presses two fingers to his lips. “So all this time…”

“I was talking about my dog, yep. You dragged us back here for nothing.”

He looks between you and the little puppy sitting patiently at his feet. After tucking the jar back in his jacket, and avoiding your eyes completely, he reaches down and lifts Pixie up.

“She is much better behaved than any pixie I’ve met.” He mumbles as she curls up against his chest.

You just rub the bridge of your nose and sigh again.
