times person of the year

The framed copy of Time Magazine was hung up in at least four of President Trump’s golf clubs, from South Florida to Scotland. Filling the entire cover was a photo of Donald Trump.

“Donald Trump: The ‘Apprentice’ is a television smash!” the big headline said. Above the Time nameplate, there was another headline in all caps: “TRUMP IS HITTING ON ALL FRONTS . . . EVEN TV!”

This cover — dated March 1, 2009 — looks like an impressive memento from Trump’s pre-presidential career. To club members eating lunch, or golfers waiting for a pro-shop purchase, it seemed to be a signal that Trump had always been a man who mattered. Even when he was just a reality-TV star, Trump was the kind of star who got a cover story in Time.

But that wasn’t true.

The Time cover is a fake.

There was no March 1, 2009, issue of Time Magazine. And there was no issue at all in 2009 that had Trump on the cover.

“She always responds with empathy.  She meets anger with empathy.  She meets hate with empathy.  She’ll take the time to imagine what happened to a person when they were five or six years old.  And she’s made me a more empathetic person.  I had a very fractured relationship with my father.  Before he died, she made me remember things I didn’t want to remember.  She made me remember the good times.”

sometimes i think im overreacting and i dont have The Disorder at all but then i re-read the diagnostic criteria and its a personal fucking drag

123. The houses all respond to a member coming out as LGBTQ+ differently:

Gryffindor:

  •  "Wait, you’re not straight" “Nope,” “Haha, nice”
  • Basically every month is pride month in the Gryffindor house
  • “THERE’S MY FAVORITE GAY!“
  • “Yo, do you know my aunt? She’s lesbian,” “Do-do you think everyone in the LGBTQ+ community know each other?” “Well, yeah that’s how it works right?” “I-no!”
  • A lot of the wizard-raised ones just kinda don’t get labels so whenever they introduce they also include identities
  • “This is Sarah, she is muggle born, from London, and she is like, super bi so there ya go,“
  • Always wanting to find out more about it
  • “So how do you like… like when you… you know… what’s it like?” “Stop asking.”
  • Are the first to say if they’re questioning

Hufflepuff:

  • “I’m gay,“ “Well, I suppose we all are a little gay, am I right or am I right?”
  • Lots of hugs and squeaks when they find out because they are so proud of you for coming out
  • Rainbow pride flags all around the common room (With their other civil rights posters)
  • Sometimes they all wear rainbow stickers or rainbow glitter on their faces
  • “I’m so happy you are pansexual,” “Why?” “Because!! You are being you!! And I love that and I love you and hell yeah for expressing yourself!!”
  • While introducing the first years: “So here is the famous Hufflepuff common room. Here we have the Hufflegays,”
  • This is followed by cheers from the LGBTQ+ students

Ravenclaw:

  • “I’m not straight,” “Yeah, no kidding,” “Wait, you know?” “Yeah, we knew this whole time, it was pretty obvious.”
  • No one dares say being LGBTQ+ is the new trend because last time someone said that to Ravenclaw, they threw down.
  • “Oh really, Sharon? It’s a new trend? Well according to my resources in 1971, July 1st, the United Kingdom had a magazine called International Times that made personal ads for gay men. That same year, November 1st, Canada’s first gay rights magazine came out. It was called The Body Politic. So I am sorry, Sharon, that we, as a society, have progressed so that now more people can open about their sexuality. I really do apologize.“
  • This house actually has the most LGBTQ+ students.
  • &
  • They always march in pride parades during the summer
  • "GAY AND PROUD! QUEER AND LOUD!nbsp;
  • •Doesn’t treat you any differently because of your sexuality because really, who cares?
  • Rewriting rewritten history

Slytherin:

  • "I’m bisexual” “Aren’t we all?"
  • God bless the person who insults a member of Slytherin for being LGBTQ+ because when it comes to revenge, Slytherin is ruthless.
  • Things get real interesting with the hexes…
  •  "I’m gay” “My dog’s gay,” “That’s cool how do you know?” He told me” “Nice,“
  • Has a "Queer Wizard Club” open to all
  • Pureblood Grandparents: "I too was gay back in my day…“
  • I mean all your historic faves are
  • Honestly, the LGBTQ+ members in Slytherin kick ass so the straight members don’t even care about the others sexuality, they just want to see how ambitious/cunning you are
  • "How much do you want to bet that Salazar Slytherin was gay?” “Yeah, gay for Gryffindor,"
  • If your parents are against your sexuality and emotionally or physically abuse you in any way, you are always welcome to stay at another Slytherin’s house over the break

i will literally never forget the watching the season four premiere of the office like we spent a whole summer agonizing over whether or not jim and pam were FINALLY dating and then in the beginning my brother actually threw a pillow at the tv when it looked like they weren’t together and then they kISSED and i swear to god my whole family started screaming and hugging like we woke up my three year old sister lmao and my friend called me during the commercial break so we could yell about it and then we stayed on the line so we could scream every time they did anything like when they held hands we hit decibels that weren’t audible to humans and to this day i have never seen my brother literally flail about something the way he did on that fateful night in 2007

Just a friendly reminder:

  • Steve Universe is a children’s animation that has themes of mourning, identity, romance both straight and lbgt, representation, a predominately female group in a scifi/fantasy setting
  • Gravity Falls is an enthralling mystery with suspense, horror, strained relationships within a family, having a positive outlook on an uncertain future. Also a children’s animation
  • Avatar the Last Airbender is an Asianic inspired adventure where an eclectic group of protagonists, powered and non, all under the age of 15 are responsible for ending a 100 year war. Is nonspecific oriented in terms of age demographic
  • The Amazing World of Gumball uses an eclectic array of animation/art styles, has genuine humor and toys with trope expectations, but also deals several heart warming moments. Definitely intended for children, but has a few more adult jokes.
  • Clarence is a light hearted look into the almost idealistic world of childhood memory and experiences. Once again a Children’s animation.
  • Regular Show is, while intended for children, a stoner comedy with themes of growing up and dealing with relationships romantic or non, particularly moving on.
  • Adventure Time, despite in my personal opinion straining under its own weight in recent years, delves into aspects of depression, nurodiversity, responsibility, themes of growing up,  accepting mortality, morality is a grey area being a reoccurring theme. Also a children’s animation.
  • Star VS the Forces of Evil, a children’s animation with a female protagonist and a Hispanic male lead, is a subversion of the magical girl genre in anime with unique style and humor, deals with the aftereffects of colonialism(both from the oppressed and the descendants of oppressors)
  • Bojack Horseman, an adult animation, delves into the psychosis of an alcoholic struggling with depression and self loathing, toxic relationships, the effects of having and loosing fame, has an asexual supporting character, and heavily deals with the consequences of our actions for better or for worse.
  • The Adventures of Rick and Morty, another adult animation, deals with existentialism, depression, surviving an attempted sexual assault, sacrificing your freedom for your family, and much, much dark humor.

Meanwhile Seth Macfarlene is still swimming in the stagnate pile of decaying fecal matter and vomit that is his three series, Family Guy being the worst offender. Littered with horrible messages, shock humor that tries far too hard and is pathetic to watch, and completely insulting to everyone. Hell, even the Simpsons are still fresh and interesting after a decade on the air. And the remakes of Teen Titans and Power Puff Girls are an insult to the original series, and are peddled off as for children.

reblog and write in the tags how you got into mass effect 🌌

i did this in my old fandom and i read some amazing stories - i’d love to read about your stories as well !!

They didn’t understand it, but like so many unfortunate events in life, just because you don’t understand it doesn’t mean it isn’t so.

You can hear it in the silence

Sometime in 8th year…

Harry isn’t exactly sure what to think at first.

There are glances across the room. Like nothing has changed. Like everything has changed.

It feels familiar and yet… new.

It confuses him.

It’s not like the hate is suddenly gone. Harry still feels it whenever he looks at him. But it’s different now.

He can’t really describe it. He has tried several times. Ron and Hermione have asked him about it. They’ve noticed something is “off”, as they call it.

“It’s not that we’re not glad you aren’t fighting anymore. There’s been enough fighting,” Hermione had said.

“Yeah, it’s just… weird, you know. Now you’re just staring at each other,” Ron  had added.

Harry sighs as he tries to remember what he told them. It was probably something vague. Because… what Ron and Hermione don’t know… Harry has been meeting him. At night. In secret. They would just sit together and talk. But, Harry supposes, not like other people would.

They each take turns talking, while the other listens. Just listens. There are no interruptions, no judgement. They just each let the other talk. It’s been weirdly therapeutic. And also soothing.

Yesterday was Harry’s turn and after talking about his godson and Quidditch and classes, he also recounted one of his nightmares. He never talks about them with anyone. He doesn’t want to hear what they mean or that maybe he should see a mind healer. He knows perfectly well what they mean. So, simply talking about it, having the opportunity to get it out in the open and out of his system… it’s freeing. Harry also never appreciated before, how much it means when somebody listens, really just listens to him. It is a whole new experience.

As Harry makes his way to the tower nobody wants to go to anymore, he wonders what he will talk about tonight. Sometimes he talks about his mother. Never about his father. Sometimes he doesn’t say anything at all and they just sit there in silence. At first, Harry thought this was a waste of time. But it was in that silence, he realized that something really is different between them. It’s as if something between them has… shifted.

So when Harry sees Draco enter the tower, his body doesn’t go rigid. It relaxes. When Draco sits down beside him and their fingers touch, Harry doesn’t pull away. He welcomes the warmth. When Draco doesn’t say anything, Harry isn’t annoyed. He understands.

It’s in that moment, as Draco lays his head on Harry’s shoulder and Harry puts an arm around his waist, that he knows. He never thought he could be this sure. But he is. He knows.

He’s in love.

And it makes him smile.
