@therealjacksepticeye
I’m so proud of you! Although I’ve only been on the channel since 2015, I have gone back multiple times over these last two years and watched older videos, ones back in 2013 and I’ve seen your growth. Not only as a youtuber but as an individual. Your confidence, your creativity, your humor and personality. And yet. Rewatching these milestone vlogs and experiencing this growth with you has still only solidified the fact that you remain as humble and genuine as ever and continue to love what you do. It clearly shows. The joy in your eyes, the way you light up and have more energy and enthusiasm for this than anyone I else I know who does it.
And that to be honest is the thing that drew me in that fateful day I watched Muddy Heights and discovered your content. It wasn’t the game. Obviously that game was ridiculous and under normal circumstances it would’ve been overlooked by me. But that day I saw an indescribable joy and overall light in you. And I could tell that you loved playing it. It brought me so much joy in seeing you play it and that joy for the both of us still exists.
One thing I absolutely love to see is someone who is so driven and passionate in what they love. It’s so motivating and invigorating. I love hearing about it! It inspires me to do what I want and chase my passions too. :)
And I just can’t thank you enough for being that inspiration to me. I’ve become a more confident person, as a YouTube creator, an actress, a singer, a writer and an artist. I’ve become a happier person. I’ve found more joy in the last two years of watching your content and branching out into what I love than ever before and I have never been more excited for what the future holds!
Congratulations on 16 million community members! You deserve so much happiness and I can’t wait to meet you at PAX in September! I love ya man!
See ya soon!
Dueces!

15 Trans People who Have Made History

I feel it is extremely important to know about the people in our community who came before us. Throughout history trans people have made history by acting as activists, advocates, and just by being themselves in a world at that against them. This list is by no means complete but the point is to highlight some of the trans people who have made history for our community.

1) Frances Thompson: Frances was most likely the first trans person to testify before a congressional committee in the US. In 1866 she was a victim of the Memphis Riot. The riot occurred when a group of white men went into a neighbourhood where former slaves, such as Frances, lived. They burned buildings and attacked the former slaves. It was on this matter that she testified before the committee. Ten years later she was arrested for “transvestism.”

2) Lucy Hicks Anderson: Lucy was born in 1886 and began living as a woman a young age. She was first married in 1929 and then attempted to get married again in 1944.However, in 1944 her marriage was denied and she was accused of perjury for saying that she was a woman. After then she became one of the first fighters for marriage equality in America.

3) Marsha “Pay it No Mind” Johnson: Marsha is most known for being one of the leaders at the Stonewall Riot in 1969 however her involvement in the LGBT community stretches beyond that. She was the co-founder of S.T.A.R. which provided support and resources for homeless trans youth. She was also heavily involved in the Gay Liberation Front. She fought for LGBT rights and for people living with HIV and AIDS. She supported the community until her life was cut short in 1992 under suspicious circumstances.

4) Sylvia Rivera: Sylvia was also one of the leaders at the Stonewall Riots. At only seventeen years old she co-founded S.T.A.R. She was also a founder of the Gay Liberation Front. She spent a lot of time advocating for trans people, drag queens, and other people who were not included in the mainstream gay rights movement including fighting against the exclusion of transgender people from the Sexual Orientation Non-Discrimination Act in New York. She was an advocate for the community until her death in 2002.

5) Miss Major Griffin-Gracy: Miss Major was another leader at the Stonewall Riots in 1969 and the community in New York at the time. In the late 1970s she moved to San Diego and started grassroots movements such as working with a food bank to serve trans women who were incarcerated, struggling with addiction, or were homeless. During the AIDS epidemic she provided people with healthcare and organized funerals often one or more a week.  In 1990 she moved to the San Francisco area where she worked with many HIV/AIDs organizations. In 2003 she began working at the Transgender GenderVariant Intersex Justice Project where she works to help transgender women who have been imprisoned. She continues to work as an activist to this day.

6) Hiromasa Ando: Hiromasa was a professional speedboat racer in Japan and publically transitioned when he was given permission to start competing as a male in 2002 becoming the first openly trans person in the sport. He also is one of the first openly trans athletes in the world.

7) Aya Kamikawa: In 2003 Aya made history when she became the first openly transgender person to be elected into office in Japan. She has also worked for the LGBT community both as a politician and before as a committee member for Trans-Net Japan.

8) Trudie Jackson: Trudie Jackson is a long-time activist for the LGBT and Native American Communities. She has worked with the ASU Rainbow Coalition, the Native American Student Organization, The National LGBTQ Task Force, and the Southwest American Indian Rainbow Gathering. She has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Equality Arizona Skip Schrader Spirit of Activism Award, one of the 2013 Trans 100, and Echo Magazine’s 2013 Woman of the Year. She is a huge advocate for the Native American trans community.

9) Kim Coco Iwamoto: When elected to the Hawaiian Board of Education in 2006 she held the highest office of any openly trans person in America. She served two terms on the Board of Education and is now a commissioner on the Hawaii Civil Rights Commission.

10) Diego Sanchez: Sanchez was the first openly trans person to hold a senior congressional staff position on Capitol Hill in America when he was appointed by Barney Frank in 2008.

11) Kylar Broadas: Broadas is an attorney, professor, and the first openly trans person to testify in front of the U.S. Supreme Court when he spoke in support for the Employment Non-Discrimination Act in 2012. In 2010 he founded the Trans People of Color Coalition.

12) Isis King: She became the first openly trans person to be on America’s Next Top Model in 2008. Her openess and involvement in the show and involvement in the show attracted a lot of both negative and positive attention. She has continued to work as a model, role-model, and advocate for transgender people.

13) Blake Brockington: Blake first made headlines when he became the first openly transgender high school homecoming king in North Carolina. He was also an activist for the LGBT community, transgender youth and fought against police brutality. Sadly, Brockington lost his life at the age of 18 in 2015 after committing suicide.

14) Diane Marie Rodriguez Zambrano: She has been a human rights and LGBT rights activist in Ecuador for many years. In 2009 she sued the Civil Registry to change her name and set precedent for other trans people to be able to change their names. In 2013 she became the first openly trans person, or LGBT person, in Ecuador to run for office.

15) Ruby Corado: She is an activist born in El Salvador but living in America. She was involved in the Coalition to Clarify the D.C. Human Rights Act which was changed the act to include gender identity and expression. In 2012 she opened Casa Ruby which is the only bilingual and multicultural LGBT organization in Washington, D.C. She has been working for human rights for over 20 years.

Five Famous Pulsars from the Past 50 Years

Early astronomers faced an obstacle: their technology. These great minds only had access to telescopes that revealed celestial bodies shining in visible light. Later, with the development of new detectors, scientists opened their eyes to other types of light like radio waves and X-rays. They realized cosmic objects look very different when viewed in these additional wavelengths. Pulsars — rapidly spinning stellar corpses that appear to pulse at us — are a perfect example.

The first pulsar was observed 50 years ago on August 6, 1967, using radio waves, but since then we have studied them in nearly all wavelengths of light, including X-rays and gamma rays.

Typical Pulsar

Most pulsars form when a star — between 8 and 20 times the mass of our sun — runs out of fuel and its core collapses into a super dense and compact object: a neutron star

These neutron stars are about the size of a city and can rotate slowly or quite quickly, spinning anywhere from once every few hours to hundreds of times per second. As they whirl, they emit beams of light that appear to blink at us from space.

First Pulsar

One day five decades ago, a graduate student at the University of Cambridge, England, named Jocelyn Bell was poring over the data from her radio telescope - 120 meters of paper recordings.

She noticed some unusual markings, which she called “scruff,” indicating a mysterious object (simulated above) that flashed without fail every 1.33730 seconds. This was the very first pulsar discovered, known today as PSR B1919+21.

Best Known Pulsar

Before long, we realized pulsars were far more complicated than first meets the eye — they produce many kinds of light, not only radio waves. Take our galaxy’s Crab Nebula, just 6,500 light years away and somewhat of a local celebrity. It formed after a supernova explosion, which crushed the parent star’s core into a neutron star.

The resulting pulsar, nestled inside the nebula that resulted from the supernova explosion, is among the most well-studied objects in our cosmos. It’s pictured above in X-ray light, but it shines across almost the entire electromagnetic spectrum, from radio waves to gamma rays.

Brightest Gamma-ray Pulsar

Speaking of gamma rays, in 2015 our Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope discovered the first pulsar beyond our own galaxy capable of producing such high-energy emissions.

Located in the Tarantula Nebula 163,000 light-years away, PSR J0540-6919 gleams nearly 20 times brighter in gamma-rays than the pulsar embedded in the Crab Nebula.

Dual Personality Pulsar

No two pulsars are exactly alike, and in 2013 an especially fast-spinning one had an identity crisis. A fleet of orbiting X-ray telescopes, including our Swift and Chandra observatories, caught IGR J18245-2452 as it alternated between generating X-rays and radio waves.

Scientists suspect these radical changes could be due to the rise and fall of gas streaming onto the pulsar from its companion star.

Transformer Pulsar

This just goes to show that pulsars are easily influenced by their surroundings. That same year, our Fermi Gamma Ray Space Telescope uncovered another pulsar, PSR J1023+0038, in the act of a major transformation — also under the influence of its nearby companion star.

The radio beacon disappeared and the pulsar brightened fivefold in gamma rays, as if someone had flipped a switch to increase the energy of the system.

NICER Mission

Our Neutron star Interior Composition Explorer (NICER) mission, launched this past June, will study pulsars like those above using X-ray measurements.

With NICER’s help, scientists will be able to gaze even deeper into the cores of these dense and mysterious entities.

daily friendly reminder that patty jenkins was supposed to be the first female director in the marvel cinematic universe (in it’s EIGHT film. marvel studios first female director will be anna boden co-directing captain marvel, it’s first female lead film, with ryan fleck. a man. it is mcu’s TWENTY-FIRST film, to be released in 2019. it started in 2008).

she was attached to thor: the dark world (released in 2013) but exited the project due to “creative differences”. in her own words “I could have made a great Thor if I could have done the story that I was wanting to do. But I don’t think I was the right person to make a great Thor out of the story they wanted to do.

now she’s the first female director of the dc extended universe (directing the first female lead of it in it’s fourth film, released in 2017. it started in 2013.) and made one of the best and most critically acclaimed superhero movies of all time, starring, for the first time in 75 years, wonder woman in a solo story.

[TRANS] Shukan Josei: Profiles

SUGA: Profile
23 years old, born March 9th, 1993. 174 cm, Blood type O. Along with his activities with BTS, he also is known as a music “genius” with his solo activities under the name of Agust D. He said, “When I work, I just work and when I rest, I rest. That’s my personality.” In the studio, he’s usually buried in his bed alongside Jimin, as they wait for their makeup to be done. Brilliant self-analysis.

JIN: Profile
24 years old, born December 4th, 1992. 179cm, Blood Type O. Vocalist. He’s the oldest member of the group, known to be a handsome eater. Rap Monster says that “I’m really jealous of how he doesn’t have any stress.” His personality makes him say things like, “Once I sleep I forget. The tough things, even things I learned (lol). Ah, is that my tea? (lol)” His innocent personality makes everyone around him feel happy.

JIMIN: Profile
21 years old, born October 13th, 1995. 173cm, Blood Type A. Vocalist. He shows expression through the contemporary dance he learned at a Performance High School. Because he sometimes looks like he has soft face, people call him “ChimChim.” During an interview, we told him that his jawline looked sharp, his eyes lit up and said “I’m on a diet,” then turned to Jungkook to say “They said I lost weight!,” with a smile on his face.

RAP MONSTER: Profile
22 years old, born September 12th, 1994. 181 cm, Blood Type A. He has many solo activities, including collaborations with other artists. Relied on by others, he’s a super smart yet clumsy leader. When he goes into the studio or when simply greeting staff he would greet them, “Good Morning… aah!,” as he trips on the stairs. He’s a good person.

V: Profile
21 years old, born December 30th, 1995. 178cm, Blood Type AB. Vocalist. He is currently starring in the ongoing Korean Drama, “Hwarang” (broadcasted in Japan from March, on CSDATV). He’s a handsome and interesting kid. During an early schedule, while everyone was sleepy, he came in humming a song. Although it was early, he showed enthusiasm, even asking, “Where will the makeup be done?” in Japanese, but as the schedule was ending he seemed to have a delayed feeling of sleepiness that he was fighting against (lol).

JUNGKOOK: Profile
19 years old, born September 1st, 1997. 178cm, Blood Type A. Vocalist. He has brilliant skills in dance, singing, and sports, and is known as the “Golden Maknae.” He was teased by J-Hope who said, “Your legs are shaking” as Jungkook tried to keep a challenging pose for the shoot. But then, he just smiled and told the staff, “I’m fine!”. His manly Busan personality made our hearts race.

J-HOPE: Profile
22 years old, born February 18th, 1994. 177cm, Blood Type A. Rapper. Since he practiced street dance from his school ages, he pulls the group along as the lead dancer. His words “Let’s go,” was also the ones that brought the group in together to start this shoot. During his free time, he was practicing his Japanese pronunciation of “HOPE” with the staff, which was very impressive.

BTS: Group Profile
Their name holds the meaning that their music will push through the negative stereotypes put on millennials by older generations. BTS debuted in Korea in 2013. The following June, they also debuted in Japan. Their 2015 Japanese single “FOR YOU” placed number 1 on the Weekly Oricon Rankings. Last year, they also placed first on the Oricon rankings for their album “YOUTH.” The members also participated in producing their Korean album WINGS, last autumn, which earned the highest placement as Korean Artists on the American Billboard Charts, 26th, showing their popularity across the globe.

Yes, Of Course, Always

This was sent to me by a (”beautiful, intelligent” there, I covered you!) source. I took out the parts that would reveal too much in terms of identity. Enjoy:

“_” met them the first time when they made an appearance at an event in late 2013. Harry was very sweet, personally looked for “_”, introduced himself and confessed his admiration about both “_”’s professional and personal achievements. He said that he was eager to follow his steps as soon as he could and openly talked about Louis and mentioned they had been together for 3 years (so since 2010).

Next time “_” ran into Harry in LA, at a private party of a common friend. Harry was in a very good mood, said things were fine and had recently come back from a birthday trip in Cuba (or Jamaica, “_” was not sure) with friends and boyfriend.

[It was Jamaica. x  x]

”_” is probably the most reserved person in the world, you wouldn’t believe, but he said that Harry had been so cute and open hearted the previous time that he didn’t want to sound disinterested and jokingly asked if it was still the same boyfriend of the last time. Apparently Harry was a little taken aback, then smiled fondly and hurried “yes, of course, always” (which, ❤️❤️❤️).

Finally, “_” casually met both Harry and Louis last fall in London while having a private dinner out with his own boyfriend. They just said hello and exchanged brief talks before parting ways.

The Devil’s in the Details

I’ve been watching so much Ladybug that Netflix decided to give us a recommendation.  One of those “this has a 5% chance of being like the show you were watching” deals.  I don’t really watch anime, but Dave keeps trying to get me into it.

It’s called Hataraku Maō-sama! (The Devil Is a Part-Timer!) and is exactly as it sounds.  The leader of the demons gets turned into a teenager and works at a rip-off of McDonald’s.  There was a manga series in 2011 and it was made into a 13-episode anime series in 2013.

Not only is it funny as crap, I think Netflix is onto something with that Ladybug reference.

Adrien, you ridiculous dork.  Stop getting your social cues from anime.

Bonus:

Edit:

Two normal teenagers who use their time-sensitive powers to fight evil together, all the while snarking at the other person…and the girl keeps denying feelings she has towards him.  Yeah.  I see Netflix’s point.

beginner’s guide to horror movies

Okay, so you’ve seen a few scary movies and enjoyed them, and now you’re looking to expand your horror prowess. Maybe you’ve been reading/listening to a lot of creepypasta, and you feel like you’re ready to take the plunge. Or maybe you just have a feeling that you’d like horror, but have no idea where to start.

I’ve been a huge fan of all things creepy and scary for years. I was just reading an article called, “Horror Gems You Haven’t Seen Yet” and realized that I actually had seen almost every film on the list, so I guess that makes me an expert. So, my new baby horror fans, allow me to introduce you to the genre.

Injustice: Gods Among Us - Year 1, chapter 34 (September 2013).

This is one of my favourite Bat/Cat scenes of all time. There is so much emotion on display here. I love how Selina is cutting right through the Batman persona and is talking directly to Bruce. She is humanizing him in a way that no one else can and it is almost heartbreaking to see how well she knows him, cares about him and is pleading with him not to go. Their passionate kiss is memorable.

Bruce’s decision to gas her illustrates how Selina is the one person who knows him through and through. He has no retort because he knows she’s right. It is an argument he could never win and he ends it in typical Batman style.

so seb said in the press conference, that his first time ever in a f1 paddock was nurburgring 2003 at the ferrari garage with michael
kimi got his first pole that day, as seb was watching it from the garage

in an italian interview from 2013, kimi said that he and seb have been friends for 10 years

translation:
“can you have friends in f1?”
kimi: it depends on what kind of person you are. if you’re open or not. vettel is the one i’ve known better, we’ve been friends for 10 years. three championships haven’t changed him. we flied together to china, but there were a lot of people on that flight"

WHICH MEANS SEB AND KIMI HAVE BEEN FRIENDS FOR 14 YEARS, SINCE 2003, SINCE SEB WAS 16 AND KIMI 24

CAN YA’LL BELIEVE THIS????

Nine years of painting in a sketchbook

As a freshman in art school I cringed when I was told that students were required to keep a sketchbook. I never draw preparatory sketches because I like to work a painting out as I go, not in advance. When shown a finished artwork and its original sketch, I usually find the first draft to be more spontaneous, energetic, fresh and beautiful. But I was an obedient student so I forced my hand and began drawing in a Moleskine journal.

Drawing in public places always led to striking up conversations with strangers and helped me to make friends outside of school. I began drawing and experimenting on a daily basis. I bought acrylic ink for a school assignment and poured some into my sketchbook using an eye dropper. I liked how the ink bled onto other pages, adding color and texture. I fell in love with the medium and started drawing with ink using a dip pen and brush.

It’s difficult to use dip pens, brushes and ink jars while sitting in a cafe, so I began painting in my room. The privacy loosened me up and my themes became more personal. For years I was in the habit of punctuating paintings with song lyrics, but I finally started using my own poetry. After a while, I grew so invested in the sketchbooks that I began referring to them as “books of paintings” to imply they were complete, indivisible artworks.

I used to surf the internet to find images to draw, but that became boring because I kept googling the same things: antelope, construction cranes and light houses were among my usual search terms. In 2011 I got into photography and started using my own photos for reference. Now I exclusively paint scenes from memory or personal photographs.

Change is so gradual it’s hard to tell if I’m improving at all, so occasionally I flip through my collection of Moleskines. I think the most important creative change was the decision to stop copying images from the internet and other people’s poetry. This really opened me up creatively and I’ve become more observant of my surroundings– time spent outside of studio feels creative and productive because I always have an eye out for material.

anonymous asked:

This is the month of SC castiversarys! Do you have the dates of their chemistry test in LA when SC first met (or as we call it, the day Sam was smitten)? Was Cait cast the day of her chemistry test? Know Cait moved to Scotland a couple of days later. Cait's first day on set? They started hanging out "personally" right away. SC have been together for 4 years!!!! 😍

We never got an exact date but her casting was announced on September 11th 2013. She arrived in Glasgow on September 15th 2013. Here’s some tweets from Sam from around that time if you want to put the puzzle pieces together.

I also had to include some tweets from when her casting was officially announced because of how happy he was 😭

poetry book recs, kind sir?

ooooooh YES!!

ok so I’m going to leave out stuff that’s Too Obvious, which means a lot of this is niche (to me) or contemporary, and… I recently had a canary on twitter about how much ~*~modern~*~ poetry GETS MY GOAT. I’m reading a lot of New poets/collections this year purely because I… didn’t really read that much contemporary stuff before, and I thought I should branch out. (so far I’m dubious.) so, yes – obviously Plath, Blake, Hughes, Sappho, Eliot, Keats, Shelley, etc. etc. ad nauseum, The Greats, yadda yadda, here’s some others.

so far this year I’ve read (and ENJOYED - I’m not reccing the ones I wasn’t into/thought were pants, soz):

  • Letters From Medea by Salma Deera
  • Grief Is the Thing with Feathers by Max Porter
  • Hold Your Own by Kate Tempest (I actually LOVED this)
  • Mouthful of Forevers by Clementine von Radics
  • War of the Foxes by Richard Siken (of YOU’RE SITTING IN A CAR WITH A BEAUTIFUL BOY, AND HE WON’T TELL YOU THAT HE LOVES YOU, BUT HE LOVES YOU fame)

I’ve also read and loved:

  • Teaching My Mother How to Give Birth by Warsan Shire
  • The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy by Tim Burton
  • The Curse of the Vampire’s Socks and Other Doggerel by Terry Jones
  • Love Poems by Carol Ann Duffy
  • Let Us Compare Mythologies by Leonard Cohen

my personal 10/10 all-time go-tos are:

  • Crush by Richard Siken (despite appearing on every single tumblr graphic between 2011 and 2013, it still gets me in the heart guts)
  • The World’s Wife by Carol Ann Duffy (which I have loved wholeheartedly since I was 17 years old)
  • pretty much any collection of Great War poetry: Up the Line to Death, Men Who March Away, Lads: Love Poetry of the Trenches (the Great War poets are my favourite. like, of all poetry, ever)

my favourite individual poems, as we’re on the subj, are:

finally, a heads up: youtube literally anything by Brave New Voices, sit back, prepare to be Shook. ‘Transcript of Civil Rights’ by Shanita Jackson and Dakota Oder still DESTROYS ME five years later.

THERE YA GO. not much, but not nothing! enjoy!! maybe?!?

Who’s Who of the 2017 Grand Prix Series, Part 2: Pairs

Here’s the second part of our Grand Prix previews, covering the dynamic pairs discipline! Don’t forget to check out our ice dance preview, as well as our program recommendation playlist for currently-competing pairs and dance teams.

With high-flying throw jumps and twists where the female partner is thrown several feet into the air, pairs skating is the most breathtaking - and dangerous - discipline of figure skating. Pairs teams are scored on a wide variety of elements, including synchronized jumps and spins, throw jumps, lifts, twists, etc. (For more information on elements in pairs skating, see our introduction to skating guides.) The current pairs field is the strongest that it’s been in years, with several contenders at the top and no way to predict who will ultimately occupy the highest position in the world. Recent seasons have also seen the rise of teams from countries without a strong pairs or skating background. If you haven’t watched pairs skating before and if you like badass ladies with short hair now’s a good time to start!

Latest Updates on the TWEWY2 Situation

Since the only thing I actually really do on this website is insistently and beyond human capacity for sanity continue to push that TWEWY2 is a thing that will happen, I figure I should probably make sure this news that TWEWY2 is probably a thing that will happen makes it over here.

This comes from a decently verified leaker Jose Álamo through their decently verified source within Square Enix, neither personally verified by me but I’m aware of the legitimacy of said leaker in the past.

“TWEWY2″/”New 7 Days” concept was established before or in 2014 (two years after Solo Remix revealed Hype-chan, and the year of the 7th Anniversary that we were sure something was going on at SE with all the push for TWEWY). This was a thing at this point in time that was planned to happen.

However in 2015, the project was scrapped by upper management (supposedly involving Yoichi Wada, though he had stepped down from his President role in 2013 so I’m not 100% on this) and the project as it was at the time was put away. The reason for this was that the game did not match up with the current market of time (it was a “handheld touch control game for experienced players”, from what we know, maybe SE wanted it more approachable to a very wide audience. Can only speculate on this point).

The timing of these points matches up with the TWEWY ARTNIA Campaign in 2014. You’ll remember if you’ve been around that long that literally everything about that promotion was suspiciously timed to line up with the 7th Anniversary, and it seemed beyond obvious that something was going to come out of that. We were all surprised when nothing really happened, but it was such a push for the brand that it still came off feeling positive.

Thinking about that, it feels likely that it was actually intended to lead up to news about TWEWY2 as we all suspected, but development issues and management held it back and turned it into nothing.

Anyway, the good news. This stuff came up because, already in this year, there are meeting happening to discuss the future of the TWEWY brand and it’s likely to turn out more positive this time. It might still be a ways away, but it may once again be a thing that exists. Probably they know the 10th Anniversary is the next good time window to do it in, so we’ll have to keep an eye out this year for more teases.

That’s all we have for now. As always, I encourage you all to KEEP THE HYPE ALIVE. Even with worse management back in the day at SE, the specific reasons behind the cancellation are concerning and they need to know this audience still exists.

Keep it up, Players.
