one of my favourite parts of Extremis is one that probably went over a lot of people’s heads, which isn’t their fault because most people aren’t familiar with the Gallifreyan chapter houses

so for those who don’t know, let me explain to you a thing so you can get gleeful enjoyment out of the flashback scene in Extremis

the Doctor swears an oath, as a Time Lord of the Prydonian chapter

which is fair. that’s his chapter house. but the reason this is hilarious is that Prydonians are notorious for being renegades and little shits (and admittedly, often Presidents).

so Twelve swearing as a Prydonian to do something is honestly just him being like: “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good”

and that my friends, is why the Extremis flashback is so funny, because if those people had actually known anything about Time Lord society, they would never have trusted him in the first place

Okay, seeing as it is canon that Time Lords literally don’t have the same concepts about gender as we do and since they can change gender and/or biological sex at any time and their sexual/romantic partners go through the same, how is it possible for any of them to be straight like? Yes, I’m literally implying that Time Lords are a race of pansexual aliens.

In The Wedding of River Song, River says, “I’ve been sending out a message. A distress call. Outside the bubble of our time, the universe is still turning, and I’ve sent a message everywhere. To the future and the past, the beginning and the end of everything. The Doctor is dying. Please, please help.”

Then in Time of the Doctor, after the Doctors save Gallifrey, the Time Lords answer the message, but thanks to the timeline craziness they’re unsure where it came from, so they project their reply on a repeating cycle through all of time and space via the rifts created by the TARDIS. “Doctor who?”

When Clara answers the message, she just says they should help him. “His name, his name is the Doctor … and if you love him, and you should, help him. Help him.” The Time Lords indeed give him a massive burst of regeneration energy, but it’s thanks to River’s message about the Doctor dying that they knew what kind of help he needed.

okay but given that we know that Gallifrey doesn’t give a shit about gender, and that the Master (up until Missy) has been a misogynist since their first appearance, we have to conclude that this was something he learned somewhere else, probably not long after he left Gallifrey for the first time

which makes me think it must have been really funny when he rocked back up to Gallifrey at any point after that

imagine, the Master with a bunch of Time Lords, spinning some big ass plan to the Council or something, and he makes some of his dumbass gross sexist comments

can you imagine how BEWILDERED they would all be

“wait, what?”

can you imagine the talk in the capitol later

“ok so I know this Master guy is meant to be a bad egg and totally off his nut but APPARENTLY he thinks that gender can like, define superiority?? apparently he thinks men are kinda better than women??”

“how the hell can that be true, no one is that idiotic”

“yeah but if it isn’t true, how would anyone even think of this idea in order to spin it as a lie - oh Rassilon it must be true”

“what the hell would he do with my cousin, they change every other day, would he only respect them three days out of the week??”

“I dunno, honestly, the guy is clearly out of his fucking mind”

like, okay, they know all the mass murder and other shit he’s been doing is bad, but honestly as far as they’re concerned his weird sexism is the strongest contender for his insanity, probably
