tilly bones

Book Reviews : Bone Gap by Laura Ruby

I wasn’t sure I’d like this book. It even took me a while to get into the story. But I love that I was taken by surprise with how much I liked this book. The use of magical realism here is pretty clever and I appreciated the slow burn with how it was used in the story.

michael: stamets and culber haven’t seen each other because their shifts aren’t lining up. they just need to bone.

tilly: WHAT?! GROSS! MICHAEL those are our DADS!

tilly: i mean, that’s not what i think. lieutenant dad is just my boss!

michael: wow.

tilly: never mind! im teaching father the math!

Star Trek: Discovery Harry Potter Houses

Capt. Lorca: total Slytherin, all the way

Head of Security: Also Slytherin

Michael Burnham: thinks she is 100% Ravenclaw, is actually 100% Gryffindor, got sorted into the wrong house as a child and is still confused about herself

Tilly: 1000% Hufflepuff

Saru: Ravenclaw, yup.  (Ravenclaw = “I see danger and the smart thing to do is run”; Gryffindor = “I see danger and run towards it to see if I can help somehow even though it is hella dangerous” <– the difference between Saru and Burnham)

Georgiou: Gryffindor and knew it

While I’m at it, let me just do ST: TOS too:

Capt. Kirk: Captain of Gryffindor 4ever, the ultimate super Gryffindor

Spock: Wants to be so Ravenclaw, but is 50%-75% Gryffindor

Bones: ….?????? the kind of Gryffindor that the Weasley twins were?

Scotty: Huffelpuff who hangs out with Ravenclaws lots

Chekhov: same as Scotty

Sulu and Uhura: Ravenclaws who really like to hang with Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs more than they like to hang with other Ravenclaws, but also give mad respect to fellow Ravenclaws for the smarts+hardworkiness

i was tagged by @alanna342! thank you!

last song I listened to: thunder by imagine dragons

last book I read: god i haven’t read in ages… probably the new voyages

last thing I ate: a fantastic beef olive with mustard, onions, bacon and garlic in a sauce of cream with dumplings. first beef olive i ever made and it was fantastic

where would you want to time travel to: somewhere in the near-ish future? like maybe 100 years into the future. or back to see star trek air just for the nostalgia and maybe also to understand it better

fictional character I would hang out with for a day: my shy ass? hanging out with a person?? hmm probably either sylvia tilly or bones (or the tardigrade)

if I could be anywhere right now, where would I be: i’m in my bed, are there better places? (yes, on horseback, but that’s besides the point)

current fandom obsession: star trek, specifically discovery and voyager
