Reichsführer Heinrich Himmler.

Heinrich Himmler.

Reichsführer Himmler on Christian marriage, 3rd May, 1943:

“Marriage as it is today is the evil work of the Catholic Church. Regarded dispassionately and without prejudice, our present marriage laws are absolutely immoral. The marriage laws of today, presumably designed to protect the family, in fact led to a decrease in the size of families. After the war…monogamy will cease to be enforced upon promiscuous mankind. The SS and the heroes of this war will have special privileges. They will immediately have the right to take a second wife, who shall be considered to be as legitimate as the first. The permission to have two wives will be a mark of distinction.”

SS men were strongly discouraged from participating in Christian religious ceremonies of any kind and were actively encouraged to formally break with the Church. Pagan religious ceremonies took the place of Christian ones. Winter Solstice ceremonies replaced Xmas. “Starting 1939 the word “Christmas” was forbidden to appear on any official SS document” and the Summer Solstice was formally celebrated. These ceremonies were celebrated the old way with sacred fires, and torch lit processions.

Unbeknownst to many, daily meditation was the requirement of the SS.

“Himmler set up a school of occultism in the Berlin Branch and many of the leading ranks of the Totenkopf SS, the Sicherheitsdienst and the Gestapo were ordered to attend courses in meditation, transcendentalism and magic. It was in this establishment that Himmler was persuaded to found the Ahnenerbe, the Nazi Occult Bureau. The Ahnenerbe incorporated the membership of Crowley’s spurious Templar Order, the Vril, and the Thule Gesellschaft into the Black Order of the SS.”

How has Scott not written pulp-style graphic novels of Deryn & Alek’s adventures for the Royal Zoological Society?

- A mission to rescue German peace activist Albert Einstein!

- Helping negotiations between the Darwinist Tsar of Russia and the largely Clanker (using industrial work force supplies) rebels, including Vladimir Lenin, Leon Trotsky, and Joseph Stalin - with like 80 assassinations plots by both sides wrapped in.

- When the war finally ends, being sent on missions to shore up the strength of the Empire (“zoology is the backbone of the British empire”), only to start questioning it strongly themselves; especially when the find themselves facing Mahatma Gandhi and the botanical-darwinism of India under European oppression

- Influenced by Gandhi, Deryn ends up betraying her orders and the Empire on mission to Ireland, and supporting independence.

- Now on the outs with British Imperial establishment, Deryn travels with Alek to post-war Austria and Germany where they will nominally have a bit more settled life for a while while working to help rebuild post-war; and soon find themselves entwined with a secret society of German Darwinists… unfortunately the true intentions of Thule Gesellschaft are darker than Alek & Deryn first realize.

…. somewhere around this time in the 20s, the twins Artemis & Sophia Sharp of Hohhenberg are born :)

Can you imagine doting parental Alek… and his inevitable reactions when he realizes that Deryn has taken the toddlers topside on the airship with her?

“Barking Spiders Alek, they’ve been walking ship lines since they were in the womb! I had them latched to me, I don’t know what you’re on about. Why’s your face turn'n that colour?”

Hotel Jahreszeit in Frankfurt is based on Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski in Munich.

Vier Jahrszeiten in Munich was built in 1858. This hotel was during the First World War as a center of nationalist agitation of the Pan-German Association  (Alldeutscher Verband). In the years 1919-1924 it was a secret meeting place of the Thule Society (Thule Gesellschaft). This organization was a racist and occult group (maybe even satanic) and was modeled on the Masonic Lodge. Nazi occultists believed in a historical Thule as the ancient origin of the Aryan race. The name comes from the mythical island of Thule, which the for ancient Greeks was the northernmost land. In the Middle Ages, meaning the mythical land situated to the north and defining the edge of the known world, it has become synonymous with the end of the world.

Edgar Allan Poe’s poem “Dream-Land” (1844) begins with the following stanza:

By a route obscure and lonely,
Haunted by ill angels only,
Where an Eidolon, named Night,
On a black throne reigns upright,
I have reached these lands but newly
From an ultimate dim Thule –
From a wild weird clime, that lieth, sublime,
Out of Space – out of Time.

In 1919, a one of members of the Thule - Karl Harrer together with Anton Drexler founded the DAP and in this same year Adolf Hitler joined to this party. In 1921 under pressure from Hitler the name was converted to the NSDAP.

And Karl Harrer look like this:

So, maybe he is little similar to Christof Sievernich?

In 1970, the most exclusive hotel chain Kempinski buys Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten. Two years later the number of rooms from 180 shall be increased almost doubled to 303.

Christof Sievernich stayed in room 606 on the 6th floor. It turns out that the hotel in manga has twice more rooms than the prototype is located in Munich. Bearing in mind that the dimensions of these buildings are the same it is physically impossible. But the symbolism was more important. Three sixes - the symbol of the beast.
