throwing horses

The Thrawn Crisis Regency AU

for @operaticspacestrash

Welcome to Myrkr estate, Sir Luke…

After being set upon by Imperial agents and left in the woods to die, Luke Skywalker, the secret son of late and unlamented Lord Vader, is rescued by Captain Karrde, a notorious smuggler, and the mysterious Miss Mara Jade. He soon discovers that Miss Jade was once the ward of the former Emperor, and that she desires nothing more than to see him dead. Meanwhile, Admiral Thrawn’s fleet gathers off the coast and no one knows which way the tide of war will turn…

a responsible “adult” would not buy a ton of horses knowing they are going out of town in less than a month for a while and then frantically try to sell them 10 days prior just so her parents won’t have to feed a bunch of horses while she’s gone. How about- actually hire someone to feed and care for them while you are gone, or perhaps grow the fuck up and think about your actions before jumping into shit.

Imagine, McCree’s probation period in Blackwatch is finally over, and he’s trusted enough to let him go home to visit his mother. Reyes assigns someone to accompany him, much to Jesse’s chagrin, and of course the kid puts up a tantrum about Reyes not trusting him enough, that he doesn’t want to be shadowed by someone just to visit his damn ma.

When the time comes to fly out, it turns out Reyes has placed himself as Jesse’s escort instead, taking some time off work to go ‘visit the woman who raised a pain in the ass like you’ and get to know Jesse better. Jesse’s still a bit miffed, but he feels better knowing it’s his boss, whom he’s learned to trust and care for more than he has the other agents just yet.

Meeting his mother was probably the best and worst thing Reyes could possibly do, because seconds in the door there’s the threat of throwing him under the horses should he hurt a hair on her little Jesse’s head. The omnics that she houses chime happily that they would love to help, come the occasion.

I’m upset that Valentina had this terrible goodbye bc i think she is very talented and nice BUT:

IT WAS HER FAULT AND HER FAULT ONLY. Its wasnt rigga morris. She didnt prepared herself on the challenge, her look wasnt what was asked for the challenge (it was beautiful tho), she didnt know the lyrics, she kept her mask on, she didnt do anything to compesate the fact she didnt know the lyrics… I mean is all facts.

Nina doesnt deserve hate bc of that, neither does Alexis,. The fandom needs to recognize that she fucked up. Is sad that she went home for a single bad week but it is what it is.

Also is very ironic how some fans loooooved to use the fact that Valentina “did drag for only ten months” (allegedly) to get on a fucking high horse and throw shade on other queens, when she got eliminated bc of her lack of experience on dealing with sticky situations. I feel sorry for her but i dont feel sorry for the fans who did that shit, especially if there’s people attacking Nina right now.

doesntmakemuchsense  asked:

On manga acwnr, Hanji talked with Levi, Isabel and Farlan, but on OVA that talk is removed without mercy. What you think was the cause for a lot of Hanji development be removed in animate version?

Okay, first of all, this is a really good question, i love it. In fact, i have given this a lot of thought so this is gonna be a long answer.

In regards to ACWNR, they actually removed a lot of stuff from the manga. The first time i watched the animated version, i was kinda pissed off by it. They changed Erwin’s speech and their conversation BEFORE  the expedition (don’t even get me started on that…), the way Levi rescued Isabel from the streets, the lovely insult that Levi said to Flagon, even the chasing scene! Or The moment where Levi throws Erwin off his horse, that’s just epic. They changed so many details. I understand that some things need to be removed in order to fit and to make it more appealing to the viewer and i’d love to hear the thoughts of Isayama on the matter.  It seems to me, that they tried to just focus on Levi and leave other character’s development aside; because of it, we don’t get to hear, for example, Farlan’s impression over Hanji “doesn’t seem like the type who particularly cares what other think”, that wasn’t related to Levi directly so they probably consider it wasn’t crucial to the plot.

But when it comes to the scene with Hanji you’re referring to and the anime overall (these not only apply to Kui Naki Sentaku) i have some extra thoughts:

1)Manga Hanji and anime Hanji have differences and it’s undeniable. The animators tried to make them more like “the crazy scientist”, because this is a very common type of character in anime and, also,  this made the veterans’ trio personalities’ really contrast with each other, specially Levi/Hanji and that’s fun to watch, it brings dynamism to the plot. Manga!Hanji is a little bit more serious, intense and just full of badassery. So instead of her having a normal conversation with Levi and his friends, the animators changed it to her blushing and being just really excited about Levi’s skills, and that kinda crazy attitude (i do like the blushing part lol the Levihan feels take the best of me. I think one of the reasons they changed this scene is directly linked to the way the animators themselves portray Hanji. I really hope that in Season 2 we get to see the anime!Hanji more similar to the manga one, and by the looks of the teaser (the one with Nick) we might get it . YAY. Hanji is an amazing character and i feel that the anime version doesn’t really make them justice.

2) I also believe the anime version tries harder to make Levi look badass, more arrogant and distant than he actually is in the manga version. So that’s also why we just get this Levi practicing in the distance while Hanji is just watching, they didn’t show Levi’s  vulnerable face when Hanji approaches him and his introvert attitude of “i don’t know how to handle this energetic person”.

I mean, look at him! He even apologizes!

I believe Levi is just this regular really hot dude who has like bad social skills and that just happens to be really strong …. but that idea isn’t appealing for a broader audience. The animators maybe didn’t feel like this particular scene fits the kind of character they want to show the viewer, when it comes to both Levi and Hanji. A really tough guy and a crazy chick are more “anime-like”, “shonen-like”,  maybe this could seem like a really bad explanation, but this isn’t the first anime where this happens. I’ve been reading manga my whole life and i’ve seen so many characters have details altered. I’m not saying i don’t like the anime version of SnK, i LOVE IT, i could watch it forever, but i think the manga version is more realistic. Isayama has created characters who seem like they’re actually real people, with their quirks and their sorrows and that’s a great virtue not all story-tellers have so i don’t expect the animators to get it absolutely right.

3) Now i’m gonna dial down the seriousness and say… damn, that conversation was a real good Levihan moment and i don’t mean it just in a romantic kind of way, it can be also in a friendship kind of way. Hanji approached this thug, whose only reason for being there is he’s just so freaking strong and, on top of it, he has hell of an attitude and HANJI DOESN’T CARE AT ALL. Nobody wants to talk to them and SHE GIVES ISABEL CANDY! Maybe Levi was  touched by that, to finally have someone who doesn’t look at him like a threat. She even asks him to share his tricks. This was the moment when their appreciation for each other as comrades, or friends or whatever you want to believe, started. And that’s simply beautiful. It sucks we didn’t get to watch it animated.

I could talk about this forever so i probably should stop now lmfao thank you so much for the ask! I really enjoyed answering it and i would love to hear your own opinions on the matter.

Okay, maybe the tequila last night weren’t such a good idea. Neither was that margarita the previous night, or the drinking game the night before that one. Or was it the other way around? You cannot seem to recall, but today it’s Friday, so at least tomorrow you can sleep your way through the headache. Never ever did you drink as much as you did this week. Normally that would bother you, especially considering you’re not here on Spring break. But when the drinks are offered in a time when you need a little something to help you stop overthinking the feelings that you are developing for Dean, you couldn’t care less about the increase of your alcohol consumption.

Military mondays: Last stand at Camarón

As suggested by: @when-a-bagel-is-a-bagel

The last stand of camaron is one of the foreign legions greatest momments. Although not immortalised in cinema like rorkes drift and nor was it as grand as the battle of Thermopolaye. The Battle of Camaron is one of the greatest and least known last stands in history.

The year is 1863 and french forces have arrived in mexico, for 2 years they have fought in the dust and sweat of Mexico. They are but inches away from taking the capital. They lay siege to pueblo in the march of that year. They needed supplies, 3 million francs were sent in a convoy guarded by 62 french foreign legionairres and 3 officers. Commanded by captain jean danjou. Who had lost his hand almost a decade ago due to a musket explosion, and now wore a wooden prosthetic. Only 6 miles north of them was colonel fransisco milans volunteer regiments, of over 2000 infantry and 800 mexican cavalry. Milan chooses to go after the supply train.

The french foreign legion was only 30 years old. It had yet to achieve its truly legendary status. The legion was a part of the french army comprised of french nationals willing to serve. All a mans past crimes where overlooked and he was given a clean slate. Not only french men served. But British, spanish, polish, algerian, brazilian, portugese, german, russian, turkish.

07:00: The escort arrives at an old spanish hacienda, an abandoned stable and a ranch. Surrounded by walls, with a gate. They begin to prepare the morning coffee, as dawn approaches the cry to arms goes up, the company scrambles to its feet and mans the haciendas ten foot walls. The mexican cavalry has appeared on the hill.

09:00: The mexican reinforcements arrive and rally. they numbered around 600 light cavalry. Danjou wanted to draw the main force away from the convoy. So he made his stand. He orders his men to form a hollow defensive square. The cavalry was met with volleys of bullets. The horses throw off their riders after being stung by bayonets, some horses simply would not charge the square of bayonets and veered off into nowhere. Sometime later milan arrives with 200 lancers

hoping to intimidate the mexican fighters, captain Danjou marched on Milans regiments, and fought a hard battle to hold off the mexican lancers, The mexicans fought like savages and wave after wave kept coming after volleys of fire. The attackers retreated. The company is now down to 47 men.

11:00:  Milán sends one of his captains to negoiate surrender, saying  “you will be needlessly slaughtered.” Danjou replied that he had plenty of ammunition and shall continue to fight”. Captain Danjou makes his men swear an oath to the fight to the death on his own wooden hand. The mexicans promptly charged the western gate of the hacienda. Where Danjou is cut down in the first minutes. Second lieutenant Vilain assumes command. A huge force appears over the horizon, the french believe its a relief force, but infact its Milans infantry.

14:00: Now confident he can win, milan launches an all out attack, causualties mount on both sides but the company lacks food and water, they are also hit hard by the intense heat of the climate. The attack is repulsed, but the ammo stores are running dry. They are offered yet another chance to surrender. An brazilian sergeant in the legion replies “Merde” or figuratively “Go to hell”. However the legion is down to 32 men.

14:30  Lieutenant Vilain is shot dead. Lieutenant Maudet is the only commisioned officer remaining and he assumes the command. The men now were pushed back to the stable, some fought on the rooftops, Only 20 fighting men remain.

17:30: The ranch roof had been burnt away and all men now fight in the abandoned stable. A third surrender offer was made. The legion respectfully refused. The legion is down to 12 men.

18:00: During the next wave. Corporals Everiste Burg, Karl Magnin and Heinrich Pinzinger, plus fusiliers Leon Gorski and Hippolyte Kunnasseg were captured. The Legion is down to 5 men. Lieutenant Maudet is badly wounded and the ammo has run out. They Feebly attempt one last bayonet charge, 1 man is killed outright, 4 are surrounded, one leaps infront of lieutenant maudet, but is ripped apart by mexicans. Lieutenant maudet accepts surrender if they leave him his arms and equipment, and gives Maudet treatment for his wounds.

When the trio is brought to Milán, he asked, "Is this all of them? Is this all of the men who are left?” Then, he proclaimed in shock and amazement

“These are not men! They are demons!

Lieutenant Maudet died from his wounds and Captain Danjou’s wooden hand was brought back to the foreign legions headquarters, and placed in the   Legion Museum of Memory. Where it resides today.

The French foreign legion had rightfully achieved its place as one of the finest armies in the world and now numbers at 7000 members today. The french won the siege and the supplies reached their destination, but they pulled out of mexico 4 years later.

If you have any ideas for what I should post for next military monday, it can be anything, a battle, a leader, an idea, a concept or tactic, a military unit or formation. Do not hesitate to send in your suggestions, either by message or comment.
