through the tears of that episode

I just discovered there is a small subreddit dedicated to google-translating (and actually dubbing, very professionally!!) the Star Wars movies and occasional SWR episodes from english into chinese and back into english again, making the subtitles change ridiculously, and it’s positively the most hilarious thing I’ve ever come across since I saw the LotR post about a similar thing, here are some highlights:

  • steven universe episode 1: steven thinks that eating his favorite ice cream sandwiches is the trick to activating his magical powers
  • steven universe episode 132: after sacrificing himself for his friends, falsely claiming that he's responsible for the war crimes seemingly committed by his dead mother, boarding a space ship with the knowledge that he will likely never return home again, going on trial against two powerful alien dictators who want to murder him, getting chased by death drones, teaming up with a band of social outcasts, and watching his friend die violently in a desperate act of goodwill, steven discovers that his tears are the secret to resurrection and travels back to earth through his no-longer-dead friend's hair to reunite with his family

Can we take a moment to appreciate how pure and deep Jimin and Taehyung’s friendship is. I have not seen such a beautiful and close bond between two people, they love each other so much and you can just tell by Taeyung’s words to him in 4 O’Clock, his tears in the recent Bon Voyage episode, and how Jimin always accepts and loves him no matter what, being the one to stay closest by his side when his grandma passed away as well. They’ve even called each other soulmates, that’s how strong their relationship is. They’re just too pure for this world and I hope nothing ever breaks them apart, and that they stay as close as they are forever.

The Many Faces of Yuuri Katsuki - Episode 11

So, this episode is composed of a mixture of 3 types of facial expressions: determination, worry, and a sprinkle of other things. Every single one that fell into the last category made it into this set. I think that goes to show how ridiculously determined Yuuri was during this first half of the episode, and then how worried/anxious he was during the second. You pretty much end up just wanting to hug him through the entire episode. As a couple final notes: I’m really glad I was able to get Yuuri’s 3A in a set because it’s beautiful, and Yuuri’s updated expression in the last gif tears my heart out every time I see it. Enjoy!

Bonus because look at how in love and happy these two are:

sworn to the sword rewrite:

  • pearl is hesitant to train connie at first, because she is so young. connie insists
  • pearl turns out to be a kind, patient teacher who who starts it slow, and even goes overkill on the safety precautions. connie is annoyed and insists that she can handle serious training and lies that pearl is overestimating how fragile humans are. pearl believes this, since she doesnt know so much about how full humans work
  • steven quickly finds out that connie is pushing herself way too hard and hiding her physical pain from pearl. she tells steven to keep it secret or else the gems will look down on her. she blames herself for being “just a human” with none of the cool abilities steven has. steven understands bc he also often felt looked down upon for being weaker than the gems
  • the song is from connie’s point of view. pearl sings the training instructions; connie sings to herself about not being good enough. she’s the one that calls herself “just a human”, not pearl
  • steven doesnt know what to do. he goes to garn and ame for help. they freak out and tell him that pearl would want to know, that she’d be the most concerned of all of them because she personally knows what it’s like to push herself too hard
  • garnet describes how dangerously self sacrificing she was during the war and how long it took for pearl’s self-worth to recover. the backstory is shown not to say ‘oh wow poor pearl!!!’, or to say that poor mental health makes you hurt others. it’s shown to say that pearl knows what it’s like and wants connie to be safe.
  • steven rushes to tell pearl. she FREAKS and pulls connie aside to tell her how harmful that mindset is. that no one should see themselves solely as an asset to another. that she would never want connie to suffer how she did. and that pearl vowed to protect humans, not hurt them.
  • there are still parallels between pearl/rose and steven/connie, but healthy ones. pearl says “rose never wanted me to do that to myself, and steven would never want that for you either.” not “oh hi im the Crazy Lesbian Stereotype and im harming you kids by being gay!! im gonna push my unhealthy lifestyle on you bc thats what we lesbians do!!”
  • pearls crush is still heavily alluded to, with pearl blushing while talking about rose and other lighthearted cute stuff. not “wow being gay made me hate myself! :)”
  • pearl gives a very explicit heavy moral about how those who love you also want you to love yourself. she then tells connie that she’ll only train her if connie is responsible and honest about her limits
  • there is no implication that pearl only is overprotective of steven bc he has rose’s gem, or that she sees him as her at all. it’s revealed through pearl’s delicacy with connie that she was overprotective of steven bc he’s half-human
  • maybe steven speaks up about feeling weaker than the gems. pearl says that he shouldn’t have to be physically strong, that she’s there to protect him. this resolves stevens earlier worries that she’s disappointed in how human he is, as shown in the healing tears ep.
  • the episode focuses on connie and her pain, not pearl
  • on that note..connie’s low self esteem wouldve been better established as being from bullying or w/e, not her strict parents, bc that plays into the tiger mom stereotype

shoutout to The Bold Type for giving us a canon interracial relationship with two woc (one of them being a Muslim lesbian!), Another interracial relationship with a very dark skinned black man and white woman, three women supporting each other 24/7 instead of tearing each other down, a female boss who isn’t reduced to being a bitch all the time and actually supports and likes her employees and pushes them to be the very best they can be and that although she’s been through something so traumatic, she still made it 20 years later like??? the list goes on and on! this is a show that constantly transcended stereotypes and went against every trope imaginable week after week while fleshing out their characters in new and interesting ways and even though they only had ten episodes, they did a damn good job of it 💯💯💯!

Who cries the least?

Of the four main characters on Steven Universe, it’s pretty obvious that Steven and Pearl cry pretty frequently. Steven’s a sensitive meatball and he’s a child, and Pearl is … let’s just say emotional and a little fragile. But most people who haven’t watched carefully would probably assume Garnet cries the least since she’s basically the poster child for stoicism. But that isn’t true.

Amethyst cries the least.

That isn’t to say Amethyst isn’t emotional. Garnet is certainly the least outwardly emotive, and many of Amethyst’s negative emotions manifest in outbursts of anger–being loud, being destructive, lashing out. She just doesn’t accompany her breakdowns with tears most of the time.

Let’s take a look here. Obviously there have been times when everyone’s losing it and there are tears, like at the end of “Bubbled”:

(And we won’t talk about this one because it’s “Say Uncle”)

But it’s interesting that sometimes when everyone else is turning on the water works, Amethyst’s eyes are dry.

In “So Many Birthdays” Pearl cried rivers, Garnet had a little trickle going, but Amethyst was just redirecting her frustration onto Garnet because she didn’t know how to fix Steven.

Most of the time Garnet cries when she’s worried about someone else.

And sometimes she might just be crying behind those glasses when we don’t know. There’s even evidence of it once in a while.

But time and time again, Amethyst has good reasons to be very emotional and yet she stops short before crying. She redirects herself into angry outbursts or collapses into sullenness. Consistently.

Big emotional moments for Amethyst include “Tiger Millionaire” (no tears):

… “An Indirect Kiss” (no tears):

… “Maximum Capacity” (no tears that we see anyway):

… “Reformed” (no tears):

… and “Cry For Help” (no tears).

Of course, “Cry For Help” was also a big deal for Garnet, and she had an angry outburst there too:

But then in the next episode, she’s so conflicted over her internal struggle that she becomes even more silent than usual, with Ruby’s intense emotion being chilled with Sapphire’s fatalistic denial, and once it’s too much for her, she doesn’t cry … but they do.

In contrast, Amethyst has an arc with multiple episodes leading up to her feeling more and more damaged and worthless, hating her nature and her limited abilities, but she doesn’t cry until she’s FINALLY pushed to the brink in “Earthlings.”

“What was I supposed to look like?”

“You didn’t need me at all.”

“Busy making egg salad.”

“Now I’m the worst Crystal Gem.”

“You almost won with a rock!”

“So it’s true… .”

“Us worst Gems stick together, right?”

But besides this, of course, Amethyst did have the one notable emotional outburst that came with tears. And that’s “On the Run.” She went through sarcastic mocking, sullenness, and literal violence before she got to the point that she could cry, but she did get there. And then cried for approximately the entire last two minutes of the episode.

Amethyst can cry. It’s just that other responses come more readily, and she defaults to those before tears finally come. Garnet, though … Garnet doesn’t cry easily, but crying doesn’t seem to happen for her only when she’s been through everything else. And that makes sense, because she’s got to have all that emotion Ruby has in there somewhere, and it’s not just anger we’re talking about. Ruby is extremely demonstrative with her emotions, including love and joy, even though she can really only focus on one at a time. As manifested in Garnet, Sapphire doesn’t hold Ruby’s emotion in check; she just modifies how it is expressed. It’s still there. Garnet is the feeling between them. She even says so in a song.

I’d be willing to bet she gets teary-eyed behind her shades more often than we’d ever know.

You know who’s only cried once, though? Peridot.

You know who never cries? Lapis.

Okay but remember

All of us Starco shippers were freaking out over Marco tearing up and almost crying after he thought he had lost Star during the episode Mewberty….

And now,

Marco thinks that he’s lost Star again so what does he do?

He PUNCHES THROUGH THE FLESH of Toffee, the monster who he thinks killed her, because he is so heartbroken.

If that isn’t some major Starco development I don’t know what is

PSA: I AM NOT OKAY

Oh god, so I just saw the spoiler that said we’ll see Magnus and Alec interact in a location that holds special memories for them. And immediately that sent my mind reeling, because there have certainly been amazing malec moments through the series, but most of them aren’t connected by a certain location. There’s Magnus’ loft, but I doubt it will be there because there are so many special memories that it would be hard to be specific. It wouldn’t make sense to send them to Tokyo either. Then I remembered this picture from the sdcc trailer:

I made a post earlier that theorized that this moment is when Alec feels Jace dying. But I never really looked closely at where they were. I just figured it was some room in the Institute. But that spoiler got me thinking, and there is a pretty special place where we see those same stained glass windows wrapped in vines. Look to the top right of this picture…

I’m not going to make any assumptions about how the scene will play out. I just thought I would put this out there for us to cry over. I’m currently typing through my tears and we still have a full day to wait for the episode. I am not okay.

It’s been a week since the first time I watched “Take Back the Falls”, and there are still some things I’m just not over. For example:

-The way Mabel throws out her arms like a little kid who wants to be picked up when she sees Stan. (This is the moment I started to tear up. That’s right. I didn’t even make it twenty seconds in to this episode.):

-The look on Dipper’s face when he tells Stan about Ford’s capture.

-Ford’s split second of open panic when he realizes he’s in chains. (Seriously, the sound of Ford’s chains rattling over Bill’s song was just chilling.)

-Watching Stan pout all the way through the first half of the episode, but just feeling sorry for him because of where it’s coming from.

-Ford being tortured—actually on-screen, screaming, we see him fried to a crisp tortured, and not only does he not give in, he strikes this little “fight me” boxer pose.

-On top of that, the way Ford is willing to endure days if not weeks of torture at the hands of the being who manipulated and betrayed him, but the second Bill threatens the kids he breaks (and I flash back to that scene in AToTS when he looks so excited to learn he has a niece and nephew. Turns out he’s hiding a great big bleeding heart under that sweater and he loves those kids with every square inch of it and OH CRAP THIS WILL NOT END WELL).

-Stan taking the worst possible moment to throw a childish tantrum because Ford won’t thank him.

-Ford taking an even worse moment to make an equally childish and wholly pedantic remark on Stan’s grammar, thus underlining just how petty the grudge between them has become.

-This moment, because it seems to be the moment they both realize how stupid they’ve been:

-Bill locking Stan and Ford in a cage and it turning out to be his undoing, because once Stan and Ford actually talk to one another they begin to see each other for who they actually are, and they make up as though nothing ever happened.

-Stan.

-Ford deciding to throw himself, the world, and everything he’s spent thirty years working towards away just for his dumb family.

-Stan deciding to take the burden from Ford’s shoulders and throwing himself away for the sake of the world and his family, even though he knows it’s something he won’t walk away from.

-Ford’s face when he points the memory gun at Stan. (That…that hurt.)

-Did I mention Stan? Not any specific scene, just Stan in this episode in general, but right here in particular:

-Mabel being told that Stan is gone and reacting just like every kid who’s lost someone for the first time and who doesn’t quite understand how that can happen.

- “He saved me. You’re our hero, Stanley.” (No, that’s okay, Hirsch. It’s not like I was using my heart anyway.)

-Actually, every dang moment of this episode between the point when Dipper and Mabel try to distract Bill in order to give their uncles time to get away and the scene with Mabel’s scrapbook was just mesmerizing. It’s incredible. I love every single frame. That was the best sequence of the whole show, bar none.

-The eucatastrophe:

-The fact this this show had a eucatastrophe.

-This and everything it implies:

-And last, but not least, THIS:

How it went down

In the past, I feel I’ve made it abundantly clear that I do not like it when people speculate that Rose Quartz was pink diamond.

It’s not that it’s impossible: because really it isn’t. We know for a fact that as an extension of Steven’s empath abilities, he can swap bodies with other gems, as well as humans and even watermelons. The mechanic exists for Rose and PD to swap bodies, and seems to have been introduced for the sole purpose of giving us a hint

It isn’t a lack of foreshadowing that spoils it for me either. All the foreshadowing that existed before it became obvious that Rose had the body of a quartz still stands, both for Rose and for Lion. For fuck’s sake. I can see why Pearl would might still have a pink diamond on her uniforms, but Garnet, Sardonyx and Baby Steven have no excuse!

No, what pisses me off about these theorists is that I have yet to see a variation that does NOT make Rose/PD look like a sociopathic idiot. See, the core flaw with these theories is and always has been that Pink Diamond stole a Rose Quartz’s body then killed her for reasons that make no sense.

If she had wanted to protect earth, she could have easily done more easily as herself, and wouldn’t have to murder a bunch of other gems in cold blood to do so. She would have had the political power, the control over the planet, and she wouldn’t be hunted for regicide!

Of course, all these wrinkles iron out if we change one tiny thing; Body swapping wasn’t Pink Diamond’s Ability, It was Rose’s!

See, if we assume it was Rose Quartz –the original Rose Quartz – who stole PD’s body, suddenly everything falls into place.

First, we have the motivation: There is no reason why Pink Diamond would have wanted to be a quartz, but there is every reason why a Rose Quartz would want to be a Pink Diamond. All this Rose had to do is mind swap with PD, and once that’s done it’s her power. Pinkie would be unable to switch back!

Second, we have a reason to believe mind-swapping was always Rose’s power. It’s never been more clear than in the past few episodes that Steven is not simply empathetic in the mundane sense, he’s actually an Empath, a type of telepath who can feel other’s emotions through a psychic connection rather than mere sympathy. This power is vital to a Rose Quartz, who needs to be able to physically feel a patient’s pain to cry healing tears. Since Empaths are a form of Telepath, mind-connection powers like dreamwalking and body snatching are actually part of the package deal!

Third, it’s a situation that morally and strategically justifies Pink Diamond’s actions. If Pink Diamond wanted to protect earth she could do more easily as the planet’s ruler than as a soldier who just committed regicide, and she wouldn’t need to switch bodies with an innocent rose quartz and then murder her in cold blood to do so. Even if the Rose consented, it would still be completely unjustified, but if it was her body that was stolen Pink would be absolved of all responsibility.

Now usurped, trapped in a new form and possibly hunted by the soldier who stole her body, Pink Diamond had no choice left but to rebel, and this would give Rose every justification she would need to implement part two

Never forget, Quartzes are soldiers, military tacticians. If this Rose stole the body of a diamond, then any other one could as well. Rose Quartz couldn’t have that happening, so she had her sisters poofed and imprisoned in bubbles, leaving them trapped in stasis and unable to do the same to her.

Now Rose was in a tough situation. Pink Diamond, – who we knew up until this point as Rose – Was fascinated by earth. If their sister suddenly lost her love for humans, the other diamonds would become suspicious. Rose Quartz would have to play the part. Thus, the human zoo was born.

As for Pink Diamond, she would was now leading a rebellion, but nobody would believe her if she claimed to be the real Diamond authority. Hell, many of her followers may have been like Bismuth: resentful of their former leaders and hungry for shards. No, the only people Pink Diamond could trust were her closest followers. Pearl and Garnet and possibly a few more. Only they knew they were really doing the duty of a queen, and that’s why even millennia after the war ended they and their fusions still bore pink diamonds on their shirts shoes and pants.

In the end, Pink Diamond was never able to take back her body, but she couldn’t let Rose use her body for tyranny anymore. The die was cast, a diamond fell, and a quartz and her pearl watched the miracle of a new beginning.

Pink took her body, her usurper and shards, a remnant of the life she hand long left behind. These would later be fed to the lions who followed her, creating a pet left for Steven when he needed it most.

All theories are true on this one, they all fit into place. I’m just glad I was finally able to make order out of these disparate parts

films to watch

so i saw a post listing films in foreign languages and i thought i could expand on the list a little bit but my addition got so massive i decided to move it to a separate post. this list will focus on my target languages and feature a little bit of french as well just to spice it up.

films are good for several reasons

  • actually challenging if u watch w/o subtitles and the easiest way to achieve immersion in the privacy of your home
  • “productive procrastination”
  • might give u cultural insight as well
  • or encourage you to learn some history!!!!
  • i’m really tired of people watching almodóvar and being like uuuuuuhuuuu look the great spanish director and forgetting that not only are there spanish films not directed by almodóvar but also that spanish is spoken in other countries as well and GUESS WHAT they produce culture

ok here we go!!!!! im really lazy and my computer is agonizingly slow so i can provide no links. if something interests you search for it et voila

Sleepover | Bellamy Blake X Reader

English isn’t my first language, so please excuse any mistakes.

Request: Hi, can you make a Bellamy Blake x reader modern AU where the reader is new at school and ends up becoming Octavia’s best friend. Bellamy is popular and he “commands” the school. When Octavia takes the reader to sleep at home, Bellamy keeps flirting with her and trying to lead the reader to bed. Smut, only if you want! Please and thank you.

A/N: Sorry for the delay. I have never written smut and it was a bit complicated for me. But I tried. Hope you like it <3

Characters: Bellamy/fem!reader, Octavia.

Modern AU.

Warnings: Smut.

(F/T/S) stand for “Favorite TV show” /(R/C/N) stand for “Random character name”.

Word Count: 3194 words.

Parts of the series: (1) (2) (3)

Moving to a new school is never really good. It has a lot of pressure. The pressure of new teachers who expect you to do your best, the pressure to make new friends, in short, pressure to be in a new place of which you do not know anyone or anything. (Y/N) was feeling all this pressure as she headed for her first day at her new school.

The girl feels her stomach churning as she passed through the gates of the place that she would attend the rest of the year. She felt observed, as if every move she did would count in the judgment that people would do, but at the same time she felt as if no one cared about her presence in that place.

When she walked into her class, she felt some eyes staring at her. Some people smiled, some others didn’t seem to have any reaction to her arrival, and some send a simple “hi” while (Y/N) walked the desks looking for somewhere to sit.

Many people continued to stare at her as she sat in a desk over the back of the room, but no one seemed interested enough to go talk to her. Until Octavia entered the room. God bless Octavia Blake.

vanpireshift  asked:

ok I have a TERRIBLE time following all the goings on in night vale can you kind of..explain or summarize what's happening with these different realities

Sorry that it has taken me so long to get around to replying! I’ve been rushed off my feet (which is also why the blog is inactive at the moment), but realised I ought to reply before a new episode potentially confuses things further.

So!

Main Reality
Presuming that all previous episodes have taken place in the same reality, this is - for all intents and purposes - our original Night Vale.

At this moment in time, a whole host of alternate realities are bleeding into this reality through tears. It seems that individuals can cross into these realities (young!Cecil in Filings and main!Cecil in Cal), and potentially even stay in them indefinitely (Dana in Cal).

The consequences of all these timelines colliding are not yet known.

Cassette Reality
The reality of young!Cecil originally introduced in Cassettes

It seems much the same to the main!Reality, to the point where main!Cecil thought he had simply forgot the events. However, young!Cecil mentions having a brother rather than a sister like main!Cecil, and seems to meet an unpleasant end in the final recording.

In Filings, the realities of young!Cecil and main!Cecil cross yet again, with the former working as an intern for the latter. It is revealed that main!Cecil is the flickering shadow that young!Cecil reported in his apparently ill-fated recording. Though, main!Cecil is unable to prevent the event from transpiring, and a bathroom mirror was left smashed as a result.

(Phew!)

Cal Reality
The reality that main!Cecil finds himself in Cal.

Cal is revealed to be Cecil’s brother in this reality.

Cecil recalls that him and Cal were troublemakers in their childhood, and were involved in petty crime. Along with this, Cecil begins to forget about Carlos. This suggests that people from different realities will take on the memories of that reality whilst forgetting about their own.

Cal appears to be suffering from radiation poisoning or something similar. This suggests that doomsday event in 1983 occurred in this reality.

Notably, this could potentially be the same reality as the Cassette Reality. It is the only other instance we have heard of Cecil having a brother.

Mini Reality
A potential reality from which the mini!Night Vale beneath the bowling alley might have originated.

The mini!Cecil is a lot more subdued than main!Cecil, and is closer to being a more “traditional” radio broadcaster. He delivers a weather report rather than the usual music, and attempts to give a traffic report even though there is no change in traffic.

The mini!Night Vale may have been transferred from its own reality by Huntokar (known as their god) to save it from the 1983 event.

Additional Things
So far, Carlos has only appeared in the Main Reality.

With the difficulty citizens of main!Night Vale have when it comes to leaving, they could be in a similar situation to mini!Night Vale.

If the Cassette Reality and Cal Reality are one and the same, then the event at the end of young!Cecil’s recordings could have been related to what transpired in 1983.

In Deft Bowman, main!Cecil discovers two different headlines for the same day in 1983. One with the destruction of Nulogorsk, and one about normal town events. This could either be a cover-up, or another example of something bleeding through from another reality.

Don’t think I have it all here, but really need to get back to work! Hope this helps!
