threat to food supply

House of Cards in the Wind

TITLE: House of Cards in the Wind

AUTHOR: wolfpawn

ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine you were a powerful villain who was captured by S.H.I.E.L.D. and put in Cryogenic storage because there was no other way to deal with you. After doing some research, Loki learned about you and became obsessed. So much, that he looked for you and woke you up, knowing that you’d seek revenge and he would be more than willing to help.

RATING: Teen and UpNOTES/WARNINGS: This story is the result of an imagine I saw on another blog theartofimagining13. The credit for the imagine goes to the author on that page.
Warning death of minor characters and violence in this fic

Contact was finally made with Thor, who stood in shock as he surveyed the damage in front of him. “Loki did this?” He asked in disbelief looking at the defeated Avengers.

“Not exactly, he had help,” Rogers explained, even with his stronger body, there had been some sort of spell on Loki’s blade that meant that the wounds took a considerable time to heal.

“What do you mean, an ally? I did not think he had such a thing.”

karasuno during a zombie apocalypse

au where zombies want to eat your brains

daichi: would be in charge of weapons, ammo and any sort of makeshift armor you’d need. he’d decide where and when to camp, who stands with him on outlook and what has to be done for the group to survive with the least amount of loss possible. bc daichi’s aiming is off the charts, he’d try to help everyone with their aim so they won’t waste ammo. gun preference: m4 with silencer.

suga: always seems to be doing everything at once. he goes on supply runs, but he’s a medic, too, and he can blow some zombie heads off like nobody’s business and on top of that he helps daichi lead. the other’s have no idea how he does it and, honestly they worry for him. one of these days hes going to get himself killed.

asahi: he’d be so afraid of holding a gun and being in charge of killing possible threats, that he volunteers to guard the supplies and food. after getting nearly bitten and getting scared to death, daichi convinces him to at least have a 9mm handgun on him all the time just in case. asahi also comes running to suga for advice whenever noya or kags ask for more food to gobble down.

ennoshita: is the only one who can keep tanaka and noya in line. it’s almost an official job; keep those two out of trouble to keep the rest of the group out of trouble by extension. when he’s not busy with that, he’s helping daichi teach the newer members how to shoot properly or trying taking over for suga to get him to rest for a bit. he almost never goes on supply runs, preferring to stay behind as backup.

noya: can’t aim for shit but likes to shoot things anyway. he never has any ammo left and when he does he usually uses it all immediately. of course, the other’s have to clean up his mess when the sound of his shots draws over more zombies. eventually daichi just refuses to give him anymore ammo and gives him a knife since he’s “trying to get himself killed anyway”. surprisingly, he’s actually pretty skilled with a knife and manages to take zombies down all the time without getting bit.

tanaka: would be so oblivious to all the noise he’s making when moving out, e.g. talking shit to the zombie he’s killing or going on about how hella rad his new melee weapon is. when the threat is serious, he makes some damn good shots though. he’d be one of the few who tries to lift everyone’s spirits by making jokes and singing out loud.

hinata: just wants to feel helpful. he can’t shoot well and, to be honest, zombies kind of terrify him, but he doesn’t let that stop him. he practices shooting with daichi and sometimes ennoshita to get better and once he finally gets good at that he becomes dead useful during raids. the only problem is that he’s so desperate to be helpful that he becomes reckless, and it sometimes puts the other members of the team in danger

kageyama: this motherfucker would be the asshole that keeps saying he’d be better of without the group, but when he almost dies and someone saves his ass, he finally gets his shit together and starts contributing what little smart he has to offer to the group. after some time, he starts looking out for the others too. he wants to make weapons too, but finds it too difficult to use the parts and gives up; he’d rather have daichi make one for him.

tsukki: doesn’t really have time for this zombie apocalypse bullshit. he’s a good shot, sure, but he doesn’t use his gun if there’s someone else who can just handle it instead. it’s not his problem unless it absolutely has to be. eventually daichi realizes that he’s getting nowhere by sending tsukki on supply runs, so he has suga train him to be a medic. he’s actually pretty good at it, though his bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired

yamaguchi: would be very quiet but actually really wants to help whenever he can. slowly he gets more confident in shooting bc of daichi’s help and adding his own two cents when planning out what to do. there’s still times where he freezes and someone comes to help him out, but it only boosts him to keep training and - in his head - be less of a hindrance to the group.

New York Times:

Climate change is already having sweeping effects on every continent and throughout the world’s oceans, scientists reported Monday, and they warned that the problem is likely to grow substantially worse unless greenhouse emissions are brought under control.

The report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a United Nations group that periodically summarizes climate science, concluded that ice caps are melting, sea ice in the Arctic is collapsing, water supplies are coming under stress, heat waves and heavy rains are intensifying, coral reefs are dying, and fish and many other creatures are migrating toward the poles or in some cases going extinct.

The oceans are rising at a pace that threatens coastal communities and are becoming more acidic as they absorb some of the carbon dioxide given off by cars and power plants, which is killing some creatures or stunting their growth, the report found.

Organic matter frozen in Arctic soils since before civilization began is now melting, allowing it to decay into greenhouse gases that will cause further warming, the scientists said.

In particular, the report emphasized that the world’s food supply is at considerable risk — a threat that could have serious consequences for the poorest nations.

“Nobody on this planet is going to be untouched by the impacts of climate change,” Rajendra K. Pachauri, chairman of the intergovernmental panel, said at a news conference here on Monday.

The report also cites the possibility of violent conflict over land or other resources, to which climate change might contribute indirectly “by exacerbating well-established drivers of these conflicts such as poverty and economic shocks.”

Have a good night.

Fisheye galaxy

The plane of our galactic home is only rarely visible to most people on our planet now that we live a majority urban lifestyle. As we lose our connection with the night, the last remaining connection to the reality of nature is slipping away from the majority of humanity stuck in the teeming megalopoli of the world. Even from small and spread out Montevideo I rarely glimpse it, let alone the companion galaxies of the Magellanic Clouds, though things are much better than when I dwelt in London, many years ago.
